  • Drupal Sites Backup and Restore to Amazon S3

    There are modules written for database backup and files backup, but what I want is a complete backup to Amazon S3 or other cloud platforms, for both the data, and the sites. Currently as it stands, I have to separately and manually backup the two. Is there any module/tool/already-written-script that allows me to do that?

  • Drupal install and permissions

    So I'm really stuck on this issue. An install process is complaining about write permission on settings.php and sites/default/files/. I followed steps one and two of the INSTALL.txt but no luck. Update: To further explore the situation, I created sites/default/richard.php with the following code: <?php error_reporting(E_ALL); ini_set('display_errors', '1'); mkdir('files'); print("<hr> User is "); passthru("whoami"); passthru("pwd"); ?> Run from the command line (under user "richard"), no problem. The folder is created everything is a go.   • Cent OS ifcfg configuration for ranges of IP's with different netmask

    I have 1 set of 30 public IP's with a netmask of 255.255.255.0 and another set of 30 IP's with a netmask of 255.255.255.128. Both sets of IP's also have different gateways. How can I virtually assign the IP's to the machine? I have tried creating ifcfg-eth0:0 ifcfg-eth0:1 ifcfg-eth0:X ect for each IP. Below is my ifcfg file with. I have this for each IP with the correct gateway IP and netmask for each of my 60 IP's. If I do ip addr show it does show all of the 60 addresses with the correct broadcast IP and netmask. However I can only use 30 of my IP's that are from the same netmask. Am I doing this correctly? If the IP's show up with ip addr show does that mean I have correctly assigned them to the machine virtually? I want to check before I blame my hosting company for not routing the IP's correctly.     hi, I am building a PC to act as a file server among other things, and I was wondering whether it is a good idea to create 2 partitions on the RAID 5 array, one for OS one for data, or to have a separate disk for OS and use array for data. Also, one day i may want to add another disk to the array, so would there be any issues if I had the OS partition on the RAID5 array when it came to resizing the data partition?

  • adding trac to apache2 configuration file

    I currently have apache2 running from a mythtv/mythweb install. This made two config files available in sites-enabled. One of them ("default-mythbuntu") has the VirtualHost directive and seems like a normal file (except a change to the directory index). There is also a mythweb.conf file that only has directives and sets various variables for mythweb. I want to host a trac site as well. According to this site: http://trac.edgewall.org/wiki/TracOnUbuntu there are some setting I need to set for the Trac site. They give me directions for making a VirtualHost, but I think I should use the current VirtualHost and just add the directives (I'll need to change the default location they point to from the site above to just point to the trac location). Where should I put these directives? Can I make a Trac.conf with just the settings for Trac and enable it, or do I need to put them in the default-mythbuntu file? I don't like that later because it doesn't separate out the Trac configs. How does Apache know that the mythweb (and the trac.conf I want to make) belong to the virtualhost defined in the default-mythbuntu? It is the only virtualhost that is being defined on my system if that matters.

  • Configuration Deployment to Linux Systems

    Hello, I'm looking for a nice way to add / remote ips (and possibly interact with an asset inventory system to track where ips are), start / stop processes, download logs, and all around genearal system admin duties from one place. It's okay if I require more than 1 program. That would still be better than having 50 million terminals open and trying to trace ip assignments etc on whiteboards.     I have an nginx server setup to act as a fileserver. I want to set the expires directive on images.     I'm trying to script some IIS7 setup tasks in PowerShell using the WebAdministration module. I'm good with setting simple properties, but am having some trouble when it comes to dealing with collections of elements in the config files. As an immediate, example, I want to have application pools recycle on a given schedule, and the schedule is a collection of times. When I set this up via the IIS management console, the relevant config section looks like this: <add name="CVSupportAppPool"> <recycling> <periodicRestart memory="1024" time="00:00:00"> <schedule> <clear /> <add value="03:31:00" /> </schedule> </periodicRestart> </recycling> </add> In my script I would like to be able to accomplish the same thing, and I have the following two lines: #clear any pre-existing schedule Clear-WebConfiguration "/system.applicationHost/applicationPools/add[@name='$($appPool.Name)']/recycling/periodicRestart/schedule" #add the new schedule Add-WebConfiguration "/system.applicationHost/applicationPools/add[@name='$($appPool.Name)']/recycling/periodicRestart/schedule" -value (New-TimeSpan -h 3 -m 31) That does almost the same thing, but the resulting XML lacks the <clear/> element that is created with via the GUI, which I believe is necessary to avoid inheriting any default values. This sort of collection (with "add", "remove", and "clear" elements) seems to be fairly standard in the config files, but I can't seem to find any good documentation on how to interact with them consistently.

  • Virtual hosting in Varnish with individual vcl files for configuration

    I wish to use varnish to put in front of an apache and a tomcat on the same server. Depending on the ip requested, it goes to a different backend. This works. Now for most of the sites the default varnish logic will work just fine. However for some specific sites I wish to use custom VCL code. I can test for host name and include config files for the specific domains, but this only works inside the individual methods recv etc. Is there a way to include a complete set of instructions, in one file, per domain, without having to manage separate files for subdomain_recv, subdomain_fetch etc? And preferably without running seperate instances of varnish. When I try to include a file on the "root level" of default.vcl, I get a compilation error. Best regards, Michael

    I am attempting to configure a new CISCO Aironet 1200 Series Access Point to have a fixed IP. I have been searching online and I have come to the conclusion that the default IP address of this device is 10.0.0.1. These are the steps I have taken: My machine is plugged directly into the Ethernet port (not the Console port) of the AP. My Ethernet adapter is set to 10.0.0.2. I have reset the AP by holding the Mode button while powering up the device. The issue remains that I can not access 10.0.0.1 through the web, nor can I ping that address.

  • Ram configuration 4x4 or 2x8?

    I am looking to upgrade my Ram to 16gigs and I am wondering if there is any distinct advantage of the way I do it. That being a 4x4 or 2x8 set up. In all my searching there have been a number of pros for each profile. I can find no benchmarck results for either setup as a compaison. So, if there are 2 profiles of the same speed, same voltage, same timing and same cas what would perform better or have a better over all benafit? A few examples from my search - a 4x4 set would lend a benafit in that if one stick failed, you only lose 25% of your Ram vs 50% in a 2x8 set up. a 2x8 set up would have less strain on the memory controler and motherboard. a 2x8 would generate less heat. a 2x8 set up is easier to over clock (not part of my need, but alot of the comparisons circled around the overclocability ease of the 2 stick set up). There is one outstanding benafit that I have found in at least the target company I have looked at and that is price. The 2x8 is nearly half the cost. My motherboard supports a max of 16 gigs and I have a 64 bit OS. Has anyone seen any performance comparisons or is 16 gb just 16 gb no matter how you slice it?     I Backed up my site then totally re-did my server with a different Control Panel which created a different directory structure /var/www/vhosts/user/site.com/httpdocs I put the files into the httpdocs folder and put the database back correctly (I think) I can see the main page but clicking on any links gets me a Not Found Message I have tried running update.php and I cannot access /user/login either.

    I'm interested to know the general community feeling about the safety of running Drupal alongside bespoke, business critial ASP.NET MVC apps on a production server. Previously my employer's Drupal based 'visitor website' was hosted as a managed service with a 3rd party. While the LoB sites were hosted in-house. That 3rd party is no longer available so I'm considering my options: Bring Drupal in-house Find another 3rd party My concern is that I have little experience with Drupal administration (and no experience securing it) and that the addition of PHP to my IIS server poses a security risk. Is there a best practice that I can follow in this situation?

    I have just finished a large re-organization and update of our institutions web server(s). This server hosts 3 virtual hosts, 3-4 blogs, 2 wikis, some legacy static HTML pages, and many hosted documents (PDF, .jpg, .xls). I have organized the site into a structure of something like: /var/www/sites/vhost1, vhost2, vhost3 .../wordpress/blogX .../mediawiki/wikiX Data is in a seperate directory structure so I can run a cron task over it to make sure it is all writeable and such. I then symlink to these data directories for each application. /var/www/data/vhost1, vhost2, vhost3 .../wordpress/blogX/uploads .../mediawiki/wikiX/images All Apache configs are in /etc/httpd/conf.d/vhosts.d/vhost1,2,3.conf On top of this there is also a testing server which mirrors this setup. Once changes are fully tested, they are rsynced down to the live server. All the wordpress installs and mediawiki installs are straight form SVN and updates are done by switching branches or "svn up". So my question is how can I best document to share with a) co-workers, b) possible future replacement, c) myself 6 months from now. Obviously I can make a wiki page, excel document, whatever and fill it with text, but I am looking for a more visual representation that I can use to explain the architecture to less-technical people. Ideally it would be awesome if this visual representation could then be expanded to get more technical details.
