  • Symlinks are inaccessible by their full path on OS X

    Hi, I have symlinks pointing to applications placed in /usr/local/bin which is in the path. However, I can't run these applications from other folders. Even more weird, I can't access them by the full path to the symlink.   • MySQL partition "full"?

    I have a server that runs Debian 6.2, with Apache, PHP5, and MySQL. Well, I hadn't done anything with MySQL at all so far, just Apache and PHP; I must have installed it (mysql-server) at some point along the line, and I decided to login to the database for the first time a couple days ago as I was considering using the database for a future website project. I noticed that the "root" user had a password, and I didn't recall having set one. My usual root password was incorrect. So I attempted to reset the password. sudo service mysql stop (stopped successfully) sudo /usr/bin/mysqld_safe --skip-grant-tables --skip-networking & started successfully, from what I can tell. However, mysql itself returns "Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/var/run/mysqld/mysqld,sock' (2)", and additionally sudo service mysql start returns "/etc/init.d/mysql: ERROR: The partition with /var/lib/mysql is too full! ... failed!" df -h tells me that / is 26% used, a 20GB partition, and /home, roughly 900GB, has only 5% usage. On a potentially related note, I've been experiencing random hangs since I noticed this problem, my tty2 randomly froze several times while idle, and the entire system is suddenly unstable. gnome-terminal also does not open. (Gnome-terminal apparently works now, disregard that part, but the server is still being somewhat unstable, I randomly lost connection when I was SSHed into it from my laptop, twice now.)

  • Cannot access shares via full domain name on Server 2008R2

    Hi, I have a strange issue. We have a 2008R2 PDC and BDC. I can join the domain fine and everything seems "normal". However, on some of the other 2008R2 servers, I am unable to do things like a gpupdate. When I try, I get an error that the clocks are wrong (they aren't) and that I don't have permission. So far, this has only affected our 2008R2 servers -- the Win 7 clients are fine. The really strange things is if I browse to: \\mydomain.lan\sysvol - I get the error. But! if I browse to: \\MYDOMAIN\sysvol - it works fine. I can also access the \hostname.domain\sysvol remotely for each of the DC's and it's fine. So in short, it appears the permissions are fine since I can access them all individually on the same account. It also seems unlikely it's on the server as most clients can access it fine. The only drama I have is when I try to use the full domain name (which of course gpupdate does) on a 2008R2 server. Also, it's not just sysvol...netlogon has the same issues too on the affected machines. Any ideas? Thanks! Drew

  • Applications randomly alt-tab? (especially full screen games)

    I'm not sure when this began, how it happens, or why it happens, but it is quite bothersome and apparently random. Just randomly throughout the day my computer will just go to the desktop. I could be in a full screen game and it will just immediately alt tab and present the desktop. Or I could be watching a movie and this happens. Sometimes it happens once every three hours and other times (just today actually) it did it twice in the span of 30 seconds. I am positive I am not pressing a hotkey because I launched a game, sat idle, and noticed it alt tab while cleaning up around my room after about 20 minutes. Sometimes it goes days without this happening. Specs: Windows 7 Ultimate 64 Bit, 10 gigs of RAM, GeForce GTX 260, Intel Xeon CPU. I also have basically nothing running when it happens other than the game and FireFox. My FireFox add-ons: Adblock Plus, Download Statusbar, Firebug, FirePHP, lazarus form recovery, tree-style-tabs, yslow. I doubt FireFox is causing the issue but I figured I'd include it anyway because it is the only application I have running when it happens. As for user processes I have running: VCDDaemon (context menu for virtual clone drive), razerhid (mouse), OSD, taskhost, dmw (desktop window manager), anyfullscreengame, audiorepeater, netsession_win, explorer, razerofa, tsvncache, firefox, plugin-container, and EKIJ5000MUI (printer). Whew. Okay. That was a lot of information. If someone could diagnose this I would be most grateful for this has been around with me for years.. Thanks for reading! PS: I doubt it's a virus because I never download illegal software and pretty much only browse Reddit and Stackexchange and play games. If it was a virus it would be a pretty lame one.. Hah..

  • pfsense 2.0 traffic priority - set full priority for single host

    I have a network with several computers all on the same network and since I have very limited bandwidth I would like to prioritize traffic almost like a CPU scheduler prioritize processes. Example: Computer A: Used for webstuff: YouTube, downloads, news, emails etc. Computer B: Transferring files over HTTP Computer C: Transferring files over ftp, rsync whatever What I would like to do is to give A up to for example 90% of the available bandwidth IF A requires it. The leftovers (10%) is divided between B and C (5% each if both is busy) If A is not utilizing all bandwidth then of course B and C should share the full bandwidth (50% each as long as both are maxing out their bandwidth). All computers are on the same network (192.168.1.0 - 192.168.1-10 for example). Appreciate if anyone could shed some light on how I should set up my network to achieve this. To be honest I actually need a step by step guide on how I should set this up. Network setup: (ADSL modem configured in bridge mode (1500kbps/300kbps)) [ADSL modem (bridge)]<-[pfsense2.0]<-[switch]<-[Computer A,B,C...etc]

  • Full Apache config migration

    I searched alot and didn't find an applicable answer. I have a working LAMP setup on Ubuntu machine and I have to migrate to a new server in a different country. The old server is 11.10, the new server is 12.04LTS. My problem is that I simply can not remember the steps I followed when I configured the current server which is not the basic LAMP install. It is Apache with FastCGI, SuEXEC, a GD library, worker MPM and all sitting on top of a mhddfs system. There are also other configs I've changed and I can not recall what they are. Because of the complexity of the setup, my attempts to migrate to the new server fail. I get permissions errors, cgi problems etc. Therefore my question is : Is there a sane way to simply tar a full backup of the current web server installation, including MySQL, Php amd the apache server with all configs, and then move it to the new machine? I shall be forever thankful on any advise. So far non of thise I found here gave me an answer. Thanks!

I would very much like the game to run full screen, which is not a problem, but I am struggling with replacing flash default behavior when escape is pressed. When escape is pressed I would like to display a custom menu asking the user if they want to exit the game or continue playing, not just exit full screen more. Is this possible in Flash?

    We have this legacy code of a flash video player that functions well enough but still has some loose ends I need to tighten up. It can do the basic "switch to full screen and back to normal size" stunts, however with one exception.     Hi there. what i am trying to do is to play a full screen(1024x768) animation on ipad with an fps of around 20. i have got a scene with 1800 full screen frames. till now i have tried a lot of approaches but have encountered a lot of problems. my first approach was to get the texture using the following function t = [[CCTexture2D alloc] initWithImage:[UIImage imageWithContentsOfFile:[[NSBundle mainBundle] pathForResource:[NSString stringWithFormat:@"(%d)",startIndex] ofType:type]]]; give it to sprite by using setTexture method and then release the texture then create a new texture with next frame and repeat the procedure but by using this approach i only get an FPS of about 7. my second approach was to preload about 10 textures in texturecache save them in an array and give them to sprite using setTexture and on the back end i am replacing the old textures with the new texture in a thread but the problem i face is that creating new texture and adding to array takes some time and when the settexture method is called the sprite displays the old texture because the new one is not loaded yet but after some time new texture get loaded. Is there any way i can run a full screen animation on ipad at around 20 fps plesae help me out. Thanks Farhan
