  • grep with negative lookbehind

    - by Dan Fabulich
I'm trying to grep through a bunch of files in nested subdirectories to look for regular expression matches; my regex requires negative lookbehind. Perl has negative lookbehind, but as far as I can tell GNU grep doesn't support negative lookbehinds. What's the easiest way to get an equivalent to GNU grep that supports negative lookbehinds? (I guess I could write my own mini-grep in Perl, but that doesn't seem like it should be necessary. My copy of the Perl Cookbook includes source for tcgrep; is that what I should use? If so, where's the latest version? Don't tell me I have to type this entire program!)

  • Get seconds since epoch in any POSIX compliant shell

    - by mattbh
I'd like to know if there's a way to get the number of seconds since the UNIX epoch in any POSIX compliant shell, without resorting to non-POSIX languages like perl, or using non-POSIX extensions like GNU awk's strftime function. Here are some solutions I've already ruled out... date +%s // Doesn't work on Solaris I've seen some shell scripts suggested before, which parse the output of date then derive seconds from the formatted gregorian calendar date, but they don't seem to take details like leap seconds into account. GNU awk has the strftime function, but this isn't available in standard awk. I could write a small C program which calls the time function, but the binary would be specific to a particular architecture. Is there a cross platform way to do this using only POSIX compliant tools? I'm tempted to give up and accept a dependency on perl, which is at least widely deployed. perl -e 'print time' // Cheating (non-POSIX), but should work on most platforms

  • Creating Python C module from Fortran sources on Ubuntu 10.04 LTS

    - by Botondus
In a project I work on we use a Python C module compiled from Fortran with f2py. I've had no issues building it on Windows 7 32bit (using mingw32) and on the servers it's built on 32bit Linux. But I've recently installed Ubuntu 10.04 LTS 64bit on my laptop that I use for development, and when I build it I get a lot of warnings (even though I've apparently installed all gcc/fortran libraries/compilers), but it does finish the build. However when I try to use the built module in the application, most of it seems to run well but then it crashes with an error: * glibc detected /home/botondus/Envs/gasit/bin/python: free(): invalid next size (fast): 0x0000000006a44760 ** Warnings on running *f2py -c -m module_name ./fortran/source.f90* customize UnixCCompiler customize UnixCCompiler using build_ext customize GnuFCompiler Could not locate executable g77 Found executable /usr/bin/f77 gnu: no Fortran 90 compiler found gnu: no Fortran 90 compiler found customize IntelFCompiler Could not locate executable ifort Could not locate executable ifc customize LaheyFCompiler Could not locate executable lf95 customize PGroupFCompiler Could not locate executable pgf90 Could not locate executable pgf77 customize AbsoftFCompiler Could not locate executable f90 absoft: no Fortran 90 compiler found absoft: no Fortran 90 compiler found absoft: no Fortran 90 compiler found absoft: no Fortran 90 compiler found absoft: no Fortran 90 compiler found absoft: no Fortran 90 compiler found customize NAGFCompiler Found executable /usr/bin/f95 customize VastFCompiler customize GnuFCompiler gnu: no Fortran 90 compiler found gnu: no Fortran 90 compiler found customize CompaqFCompiler Could not locate executable fort customize IntelItaniumFCompiler Could not locate executable efort Could not locate executable efc customize IntelEM64TFCompiler customize Gnu95FCompiler Found executable /usr/bin/gfortran customize Gnu95FCompiler customize Gnu95FCompiler using build_ext I have tried building a 32bit version by installing the gfortran multilib packages and running f2py with -m32 option (but with no success): f2py -c -m module_name ./fortran/source.f90 --f77flags="-m32" --f90flags="-m32" Any suggestions on what I could try to either build 32bit version or correctly build the 64bit version? Edit: It looks like it crashes right at the end of a subroutine. The 'write' executes fine... which is strange. write(6,*)'Eh=',Eh end subroutine calcolo_involucro The full backtrace is very long and I'm not sure if it's any help, but here it is: *** glibc detected • extract payload from tcpflow output

    - by Felipe Alvarez
Tcpflow outputs a bunch of files, many of which are HTTP responses from a web server. Inside, they contain HTTP headers, including Content-type: , and other important ones. I'm trying to write a script that can extract just the payload data (i.e. image/jpeg; text/html; et al.) and save it to a file [optional: with an appropriate name and file extension]. The EOL chars are \r\n (CRLF) and so this makes it difficult to use in GNU distros (in my experiences). I've been trying something along the lines of: sed /HTTP/,/^$/d To delete all text from the the beginning of HTTP (incl) to the end of \r\n\r\n (incl) but I have found no luck. I'm looking for help from anyone with good experience in sed and/or awk. I have zero experience with Perl, please I'd prefer to use common GNU command line utilities for this Find a sample tcpflow output file here. Thanks, Felipe

GNU comes with a POSIX-compatible regex library, but Visual Studio, despite having C++ std::regex, doesn't have a C-compatible library. GNU has a Windows version of their library (http://gnuwin32.sourceforge.net/packages/regex.htm), but the DLLs are 32-bit only and the source code can't compile in Visual Studio (~500 errors!). My only requirement is that the end-user should not have to install anything extra, and should get the same behaviour on both platforms. I'm not picky about whether it's POSIX-style, Perl-style or something else. What should I do? Thanks in advance.

  • Is it worthwhile learning about Emacs? [closed]

    - by dole doug
Hi there Some time ago, I've heard what a great tool Emacs can be. I've read some papers about it and some watched some video too. I've read that emacs is great not only for developers but for usual users too...so i decided to start learning how to use it and wok with it. The problem is that I'm a MS Windows user and I learn in my spare time PHP and C(I also did some products on those languages, but i still considering myself in learning stage). Another problem is that I learn alone (no friends around to ask/learn from them, programming related stuff). Can you give me some tips about how to use those type of tools(especially those written for gnu/unix) with "poor" GUI but rich features? Do you recommend to use the specific windows written applications only and forget about those which come from GNU?

  • Why does PuTTYcyg display â instead of hyphen in man pages?

    - by gbacon
I've been using PuTTYcyg as a Cygwin terminal, but it doesn't render dashes in manual pages correctly. For example, the top of man gcc looks like GCC(1) GNU GCC(1) NAME gcc â GNU project C and C++ compiler SYNOPSIS gcc [âc|âS|âE] [âstd=standard] [âg] [âpg] [âOlevel] [âWwarn...] [âpedantic] [âIdir...] [âLdir...] [âDmacro[=defn]...] [âUmacro] [âfoption...] [âmmachineâoption...] [âo outfile] infile... Changing fonts doesn't help. How can I fix this?

  • bash script to check running process

    - by elasticsecurity
I wrote a bash-script to check if a process is running. It doesn't work since the ps command always returns exit code 1. When I run the ps command from the command-line, the $? is correctly set, but within the script it is always 1. Any idea? #!/bin/bash SERVICE=$1 ps -a | grep -v grep | grep $1 > /dev/null result=$? echo "exit code: ${result}" if [ "${result}" -eq "0" ] ; then echo "`date`: $SERVICE service running, everything is fine" else echo "`date`: $SERVICE is not running" fi Bash version: GNU bash, version 3.2.25(1)-release (x86_64-redhat-linux-gnu)

  • Calling and leaving gnuplot prompt and png export

    - by ldigas
    a) I have a data file with, well ... data, and a .gnu file with gnuplot commands. If I call gnuplot like this: gnuplot -p commands_file.gnu I'll get the graph on screen and when I close it, gnuplot will be in it's own prompt (gnuplot_). How can I make it just show the graph, and put me back on cmd prompt after I close it ? b) How to "export" that graph to png or something insertable in Word ? I know there are a dozen tutorials for this on the 'net, but I'm having trouble just finding a simple example.

  • What does subl do here?

    - by drozzy
So... I'm compiling into assembler, with gcc -S -O2 -m32: void h(int y){int x; x=y+1; f(y); f(2); } And it gives me the following: .file "sample.c" .text .p2align 4,,15 .globl h .type h, @function h: pushl %ebp movl %esp, %ebp subl $24, %esp movl 8(%ebp), %eax movl %eax, (%esp) call f movl $2, 8(%ebp) leave jmp f .size h, .-h .ident "GCC: (GNU) 4.4.3 20100127 (Red Hat 4.4.3-4)" .section .note.GNU-stack,"",@progbits Now I know what pushl and movel: they store the current frame pointer onto the stack and then set the value of the frame pointer register to the value of the Stack Pointer. But I have no idea what the subl $24, %esp is. Thanks!

  • Can't get expand_aliases to take effect

    - by sachmet
I can't get expand_aliases to take effect in bash. I've tried a lot of different things, and nothing works. Here's the simple test case: /bin/bash -c 'shopt -s expand_aliases; alias cdtmp="cd /tmp"; alias; cdtmp; pwd;' And the output: $ /bin/bash -c 'shopt -s expand_aliases; alias cdtmp="cd /tmp"; alias; cdtmp; pwd;' alias cdtmp='cd /tmp' /bin/bash: cdtmp: command not found /home/user $ /bin/bash --version GNU bash, version 3.2.25(1)-release (i686-redhat-linux-gnu) Copyright (C) 2005 Free Software Foundation, Inc. (Yes, I'm using shopt instead of the -O option to bash, just to prove it's being done.) Any ideas?

  • Emacs CEDET and system include paths

    - by synasius
Hello everyone, I'd like to add path to the openMPI library headers. So, after i found all openMPI headers are in /usr/lib/openmpi/include/* i added these two lines to my .emacs: (semantic-add-system-include "/usr/lib/openmpi/include" 'c-mode) (semantic-add-system-include "/usr/lib/openmpi/include" 'c++-mode) I think this is ok, but it's not working! This is the result of semantic-c-describe-envirnoment command: This file's system include path is: /usr/include /usr/local/include/ /usr/lib/gcc/i486-linux-gnu/4.4.3/include/ /usr/lib/gcc/i486-linux-gnu/4.4.3/include-fixed/ /usr/include/ Can't figure out what's wrong or what i'm missing Thanks

  • Use DLL and have it be as trusted as my own application is

    - by Binary255
Hi, I am using a port of GNU GetOpts, to be specific I am using the one at: http://getopt.codeplex.com I have added the DLL as a reference. But when I run my application I receive an exception: System.IO.FileLoadException was unhandled Message="Could not load file or assembly 'Gnu.Getopt, Version=0.9.1.24287, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=d014b4ccdc53511a' or one of its dependencies. Failed to grant permission to execute. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80131418)" If it is possible I would like my application to say, "trust this DLL as much as you trust me". Is there a way to do that so I won't have to fiddle with security settings? And if there is not. What is the cleanest way to get the DLL working?

  • How to redefine symbol names in objects with RVCT?

    - by Batuu
I currently develop a small OS for an embedded platform based on a ARM Cortex-M3 microcontroller. The OS provides an API for customer application development. The OS kernel and the API is compiled into a static lib by the ARMCC compiler and customer can link his application against it. The lib and the containing object files offer the complete list of symbols used in kernel. To "protect" the kernel and its inner states from extern hooking into obvious variables and functions, I would like to do some easy obfuscation by renaming the symbols randomly. The GNU binutils seems to do this by calling objcopy with the --redefine-sym flag. The GNU binutils cannot read the ARMCC / RVCT objects. Is there any solution to do this kind of obfuscation with RVCT?

  • Compilation Error on Recursive Variadic Template Function

    - by Maxpm
    I've prepared a simple variadic template test in Code::Blocks, but I'm getting an error: No matching function for call to 'OutputSizes()' Here's my source code: #include <iostream> #include <typeinfo> using namespace std; template <typename FirstDatatype, typename... DatatypeList> void OutputSizes() { std::cout << typeid(FirstDatatype).name() << ": " << sizeof(FirstDatatype) << std::endl; OutputSizes<DatatypeList...>(); } int main() { OutputSizes<char, int, long int>(); return 0; } I'm using GNU GCC with -std=C++0x. Using std=gnu++0x makes no difference.

  • Issue with Visual C++ 2010 (Express) External Tools command

    - by espais
I posted this on SuperUser...but I was hoping the pros here at SO might have a good idea about how to fix this as well.... Normally we develop in VS 2005 Pro, but I wanted to give VS 2010 a spin. We have custom build tools based off of GNU make tools that are called when creating an executable. This is the error that I see whenever I call my external tool: ...\gnu\make.exe): * couldn't commit memory for cygwin heap, Win32 error 487 The caveat is that it still works perfectly fine in VS2005, as well as being called straight from the command line. Also, my external tool is setup exactly the same as in VS 2005. Is there some setting somewhere that could cause this error to be thrown?

  • How do you use C++0x raw strings with GCC 4.5?

  • Seeking recommendations on automated test framework for C

    - by Hissohathair
I'm writing some code (some of which uses W3C's libwww) in C. It's been a while since I've touched ANSI C. Back in the day we rolled our own test framework. Does anybody here have any test frameworks that they recommend for C programming? Googling around I was inclined to go with Check. It has a page on other unit testing frameworks in C, a few of which I've taken a quick look at. GNU AutoUnit seemed like it might be a good choice since I'm using the GNU build tools (autoconf, automake) but it doesn't look that alive... Another option would be to use a C++ framework and just write my tests in C++ Anyway, any experienced opinions would be appreciated. Thanks.

  • How do I compile on linux to share with all distributions?

    - by Andrew M
I compiled a PHP extension on Fedora Core 12, but when I send it to someone using CentOS they get the error: "ELF file OS ABI invalid" I'm not sure what causes this running file provides the following info: ELF 64-bit LSB shared object, AMD x86-64, version 1 (GNU/Linux), not stripped An extension that loads fine provides the following from file: ELF 64-bit LSB shared object, AMD x86-64, version 1 (SYSV), not stripped So it seems I need to generate a SYSV type file for some distributions, instead of a GNU/LINUX file, no idea how though. Any pointers? Also should I be statically linking?

  • How to inline string.h function on linux?

    - by tz1
    I want to optimize some code such that all the functions in string.h will be inlined. I'm on x86_64. I've tried -O3, -minline-all-stringops and when I do "nm a.out" it shows it is calling the glibc version. Checking with gcc -S, I see the calls. What am I missing? There are dozens of #ifdef _SOME_SETTING_ in string.h, and bits/string3.h shows the inline version, but I don't know how to get there. for example: $ cat test.c include main() { char *a, b; strcpy(b,a); } / When compiled with: gcc -minline-all-stringops -O6 -I. -S -o test.S test.c .file "test.c" .text .p2align 4,,15 .globl main .type main, @function main: .LFB12: .cfi_startproc subq $8, %rsp .cfi_def_cfa_offset 16 xorl %esi, %esi xorl %edi, %edi call strcpy addq $8, %rsp .cfi_def_cfa_offset 8 ret .cfi_endproc .LFE12: .size main, .-main .ident "GCC: (GNU) 4.5.1 20100924 (Red Hat 4.5.1-4)" .section .note.GNU-stack,"",@progbits */
