• Prepend 'www' to an HTTPS url using .htaccess & mod_rewrite

  I have a dilemma with this one. With the following code I am able to force SSL on any non SSL url, however when the user (and results from Google) take the user to http://mysite.co.za then we hit an issue as the url is then rewritten to https://mysite.co.za Due to the fact that my certificate is bound to www.mysite.co.za it immediately throws a security error because of the missing 'www' in the url. Can someone point out a way to add the www to the domain when the domain starts with HTTPS and not HTTP? Much appreciated. And the current code to add the https:// is as follows: RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} !^www\. RewriteCond %{HTTPS}s ^on(s)| RewriteRule ^ http%1://www.%{HTTP_HOST}%{REQUEST_URI} [L,R=301]

  I currently have this rule where I want the page to just render my static content. RewriteRule ^videos\/coverage\/view\/236159\-([0-9a-zA-Z-]+) http: //website.com/static/236159.html [NC] However, this doesn't work. It works with a L tag but then the URL is different: RewriteRule ^videos\/coverage\/view\/236159\-([0-9a-zA-Z-]+) http: //website.com/static/236159.html [L, NC] My goal is to keep the URL the same but the content different. Can anyone point out to what flags are needed in order to get this working properly? Thanks!

  I've used the following code to map https://live.example.com on to http://example.com/api Options +FollowSymLinks RewriteEngine On RewriteCond %{HTTPS} =on RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^live\.example\.com [NC] RewriteRule (.+)$ "http://example.com/api/$1" [L,P] The following url: https://live.example.com/userlinks/xml/John%20James/MvPjeUTo15/ Is suppose to map onto: http://example.com/api/userlinks/xml/John%20James/MvPjeUTo15/ Instead it maps it to: http://example.com/api/userlinks/xml/John So it seems to cut it at the space. I am using the Codeigniter framework but I am not sure if the problem lies there. Also using %20 or just a space in the url bar produces no different results.   hi helpful people, i'm trying to get my old blogger blog feed URL (/blog/atom.xml) to redirect to my new blog feed URL (/blog/feed). A regular 301 redirect didn't work, and the advice given on the wordpress site, which is: RewriteRule ^oldfeed.php(.*)? /wordpress/?feed=newfeed [QSA] isn't quite cutting it either - probably because i'm not sure how to adjust the code for oldfeed to accomodate a directory. or for some other reason entirely!   Here is my current code: RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} !^example\.com [NC] #RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI}!^something RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^([^.]+)\.example\.com RewriteRule (.*) something/%1/$1 [QSA,L] My goal is to rewrite http://*.example.com/whatever to http://example.com/something/*/whatever, assuming * is the same for both and whatever is the same for both. However, I believe this is causing an infinite loop somehow, so I added that commented out line (RewriteBase is / btw), but if I uncomment then the entire site is a 500 response code. Without that line, only the subdomains error. What am I doing wrong, and how can I fix this? I have already configured the server so anything gets redirected to my public_html folder. EDIT: For clarification, I am trying to do an internal redirect, not external. EDIT: There is not a flag for internal redirect it seems. Is there any place I can see the actual error message for the broken rewriterule? If I knew what was wrong I would be able to stand a better chance of fixing it.

  I need to take a url, "/ServiceSearch/r.php?n=blahblah", and have it go to "/search/blahblah/" so that it appears in the browser as "/search/blahblah", but I actually want it to REALLY be going to "r.php?n=ServiceSearch&n=blahblah".. So I was thinking I'll need to rewrite the first URL to "/ServiceSearch/r.php?n=blahblah" and then the second url, "/search/blahblah/", to the third, "r.php?n=ServiceSearch&n=blahblah". Well, I know this is wrong, but it's my best guess. I'm really struggling with it.

  Hello, I've been trying to figure out a way to redirect requests for wildcard subdomains to a specific folder ( called 'core' ) and calling the requested page/file from that specific folder. For example, making all calls to -http://johnny5.mysite.net redirect to -http://mysite.net/core/, or -http://docholliday.mysite.net/login.php redirect to -http://mysite.net/core/login.php, or a final example, -http://jamesbrown.mysite.net/images/feelgood.jpg to -http://mysite.net/core/images/feelgood.jpg. The problem I've been having has been getting the redirect to call the requested page/file from 'core'. I've been able to get the wildcard subdomains to redirect requested pages/files to the root ( -http://mysite.net ), but not to the specific folder ( -http://mysite.net/core/ ). This is because we are changing the way our search works to make it user friendly, but still want to allow for backward compatability (i.e. anyone that may have these links bookmarked etc).
