  • Blocking HTML and Javascript from being displayed on my site

    I am working on this new social networking site. One of it's various functions is posting. You can post to Facebook and my site, or Twitter and my site. That being said, I couldn't help but try and post HTML as I was testing sql injection. When I did, I noticed that there where ways to manipulate the site to, for instance, using a element to completely screw up the CSS design, or redirect a user to another site using javascript. That being said, I want to make my site a safe environment for my users... not a site that is used to distribute computer viruses, porn, and other things that might make someone tend to stay off of my site. When I searched this topic, I found ways to "strip" the HTML out of the $post variable before submitting it to the database. However, I would just like to make it so you can post any text, including HTML and Javascript, without the browser interpreting it as "run this..." code: I want to display it as plane text. I've seen it on Facebook, and when I looked at it the source code of a post, it showed <, /, and as regular text. I tried "dissecting" Facebook's source code, but found nothing. I have tried using tags such as <pre> and <code>, but because of the lack of ability to style and control them, I gave up and went back to just allowing HTML.   • my div tag is not aligning properly after jquery.html replacement

However, when I use .html in jquery to change or add text to sched_text it throws the css off and places the div tag not as a block anymore but placed somewhere to the side. Does something change when you use .html text? what would the proper way of doing it? Thanks Ok the issue is that my .html or .text is not a string. I just did .text(the_Week[i][1]); which results in a number. How do I present it as a string?

  • HTML/CSS formating

    I'm having to issues lining up items properly in my html code. I am not sure why they are lining up the way I want them to. First the header My Color Library is a full line height above the horizontal ruler. I want it right above the ruler. Second my X box in the td with the background is justified right fine but I actually want it in the top right hand corner not centered vertically.   • Google Fonts API JSON Data in WordPress Options-Framework-Theme

    I'm developing a child-theme off of the new Twenty Twelve theme using Wordpress 3.4.2 and the development version of the Options Theme Framework by Devin Price. In Devin's tutorial, it shows of a way to implement 15 Google Web Fonts into the Theme Options page, but not all of them (roughly 560). I know I can create a "manual list", like in the tutorial that states each one with fallbacks, but this is time consuming and unproductive as Google may or may not add to, update, change or remove some of these fonts from their list. The list I've created above will ultimately store unavailable fonts the user thinks is there because of what they can see in the drop-down menu and it won't have any new ones - making the list and some selections obsolete. On the Google Developer API Web Fonts page, it talks briefly on retrieving a "dynamic list" using JSON/JavaScript. I was wondering how would I be able to pull the Google Web Fonts API into my Wordpress Theme Options page so I'm not creating my own list or have to constantly release an update to solve this issue. Could someone please walk me through what I would need to paste into my options.php, functions.php, /inc/options-framework.php file etc. or even in a new one to implement this? I've also had a look into some screencasts, plugins and tutorials on how it works, but none of them are specific enough for people just starting out. Please keep in mind I'm not the best coder...   • Should this be written in C or php?

    This is my code; it speaks for itself on what I'm trying to do. <?php define("html","<html>"); define("htmlEnd","</html>"); etc... etc... ?> What I'm trying to do is make a wrapper for html's tags so they won't be needed anymore. But I can't get any of the attributes for html elements to be defined in PHP. This again speaks for itself; I don't know any other way of saying this. I guess how would I make another mark-up language like HTML without any tags but still keep everything about HTML is what I'm trying to say. My idea is for preventing XSS. For example, creating a special framework for the website itself that way there is no way any malicious attacker can guess because they know the HTML or PHP. I just don't want to make my website or something, and then my website gets hacked. Or if I make a website for someone and the website gets hacked. I am going to look like a unprofessional web developer. And what if I never get a job again.

I wanted to ask how is it possible to introduce a javascript function call from the html.radiobutton function. I've been looking for some documentation, but I don't really get to understand, I guess it has something to do with the html object attributes, but don't really know the syntax and I haven't found any example. But as soon as i put this in Cognos HTML container it thros the error. Request any leads into this.

    I'm searching for a "suck less" WYSIWYG browser HTML editor that generates good HTML code. (no <font>, <foo style="...">, <p></p><span></span><p><span>&nbsp;</span><span><span>blah</span></<span></p> and so on -- <b> and <i> etc is ok). Should be easy-to-use as it is going to be used by people that do not know what HTML is. Any suggestions? (I found a lot of editors but they all create that <font> and nested <span> crap that breaks site design and bloats a site with one table up to 100kB.)

    Hi, I want to transfer HTML from my app to the iPhone mail application. I already have the HTML text - lest say <span style='color:red'Test</span I can place this to UIPasteBoard - but when I paste it to mail I get the html source. When I place the same string in a HTMLView - select it there and copy it it pastes as red text in mail. What do I have to do to place the string in the UIPasteBoard so that it pastes as red text to the mail application? I've been searching for "format types" - and found that UIPasteBoard returns "Aplle Web Archive pasteboard type" when I have the element (copied from UIWebView) in the clipboard. But setting this as type when adding the content to UIPasteBoard pastes nothing in the mail app. Manfred

  • CMS Preventing Bad HTML Insertion by Client?

    I'm building a small CMS in PHP for a client and something I've noticed that comes up fairly often is a client will enter a bit of HTML in a field without closing his/her tag. I'm wondering if there is some parsing technique to prevent bad HTML from rendering my whole output page in italics because the user forgot to add a closing </i> tag. I'm not worried about XSS or malicious html, just a forgotten tag here and there as it's the client who is managing the content. Forgive me if this is a duplicate question, I did some searching, but could not find an appropriate answer. -J

    I'm trying to build my first website from scratch. I mocked up the design in Photoshop, and have been trying to convert into code for a few hours. But I haven't got far. In fact, I'm stuck on the header's navigation bar. It looks right, but it doesn't work. I'm using an unordered-inline list, and trying to link different rectangles in the header.   • What HTML is permitted within Flash text fields.

    Hi, Could someone clarify for me what input Flash accepts for its text fields? I am tasked with managing a content management system, this then generates XML which power's flash sites. I have nothing to do with Flash. I work with PHP. Currently we use a rather temperamental Flash Text Editor which is prone to all sorts of troubles. I tried to plug-in tinyMce but it broke the Flash templates. I then recently spoke to someone who said that flash should take any HTML. Now I am confused as this would point to a dodgy template. Can someone clarify. Do Flash text fields handle all HTML or just a limited subset of HTML. If it is the latter, what happens if it comes across a tag it doesn't recognise?   • Problem with image path of html files viewed by webbrowser control

    I have an webbrowser control on my form. I am able display html files in that control. But my page contains some images if i give absolute path to it then images are displayed. But if i give relative path then images are not shown in the pages. I have HtmlPages folder located at bin folder. And i am assigning FileStream source = new FileStream(@"..\HtmlPages\supportHtml.html", FileMode.Open, FileAccess.Read); webBrowser.DocumentStream = source; If i assign D:\myapp\bin\HtmlPages\file.png then there is no problem. My images are stored in same folder. If i open html files with webbrowser then images are displayed. What is the correct path to set ??

  • jquery html attribute not working in IE

    I am using country and state dropdowns in my form. Whenever the user selects the country in the dropdown, the respective states of the country will populate in the states dropdown. I am populating the states in the dropdown using ajax call. The problem is that the states get populated in Mozilla but it doesnt work in IE. I guess there is some problem in jquery while loading the states in the states dropdown.   • A Question About Embedding HTML In PHP

    Hello all Some time ago I read a posting on a board where the person was talking poorly about people that have HTML embedded/within their PHP. I do quite a bit of PHP development but I still interleave HTML and PHP in the same document. Is there a better way to do this, am I doing it wrong? I know that in JSP/JSF they use an XML document with namespaces to insert their HTML code so I was wondering if there was a similar function that PHP uses that I should be taking advantage of. Thanks for taking the time to read. :-)
