    I'm new to ssh and linux in general. I've got putty set up and I can connect to my server and list files and everything. I'm wondering how I can edit a file using notepad++ (or another editor). Is there a way to have it automatically download and upload through ssh? How else do you edit a file? Thanks

  • Discussions on software architecture - Is StackOverflow appropriate place?

    Hi guys, I am using StackOverFlow for sometime, and its absolutely absolutely awesome for discussions on coding issues. But I don't see discussions on software architecture and designs. What I mean is, I don't see discussions where people put their design ideas and architecture of their software for discussions and ask for reviews and comments. So my question is, is StackOverFlow not the place for such discussions and is there any other place specialized for such discussions. (Like http://serverfault.com for system administrators or http://superuser.com). I am asking this question because, I am a beginner and am coding a piece of software for a course project and am too enthusiastic about it (and passionate too) and want to release it as OpenSource. And I want the code to be highly modular and highly extensible. But as a beginner I am not sure if the design I have comeup is good or not. So want to discuss it with people.     Hi There, I have an an ajax request that looks like this, $('input.fakecheck').click(function(){ alert("deleteing...."); $.ajax({ url:"/search", type:"POST", data: $(this).attr('name')+"="+$(this).attr('value')+"&remove=Remove", success:function() { alert(data); } }) }) This calls a php function which looks like this, private function _remove_from_short_list($cv_array) { if (is_array($cv_array)) { $short_list = $this->session->userdata('short_list'); $new_list = array_diff_key($short_list, $cv_array); $this->session->set_userdata('short_list', $new_list); } } Essentiallty what happens is that on my page I have a list which is essentially a list of id's taken out of the session, the user can then by click and input(this will change) delete the id from their session. However once the deletion has taken place I want to be able to refresh the list to show that it has taken place, currently nothing happens, until I manually refresh.

    I need to use Hidden variables in my JSP for session tracking. this is the code: <input type="hidden" name="REQ_TOKEN" value="<%=session.getAttribute("SESN_TOKEN").toString()%>" /> i am using this to compare the request token with session token, so only when both are equal i will evaluate that request otherwise i will throw an error. Now the problem is, when i place this code inside <form></form> tags, it is working fine. Unfortunately there are some JSPs in my application where we dont have tag(I know that sounds weird!). where can i place my code so that it will work? Cant i use Hidden variables without FORM tag???

  • How to remove a model object from an EMF model and its GEF Editor via Adapter

    This question is principally a follow-up to my question about EMF listening mechanisms. So, I have a third-party EMF model (uneditable) which is based on a generic graph model. The structure is as follows: Project | ItemGraph | Item | Document | DocumentGraph / | \ Tokens Nodes Relations(Edges) I have a GEF editor which works on the DocumentGraph (i.e., not the root object, perhaps this is a problem?): getGraphicalViewer().setContents(documentGraph). THe editor has the following edit part structure: DocumentGraphEP / \ Primary Connection LayerEP LayerEP / \ | TokenEP NodeEP RelationEP PrimaryLayerEP and ConnectionLayerEP both have simple Strings as model, which are not represented in the EMF (domain) model. They are simply used to add a primary (i.e., node) layer, and a connection layer (with ShortestPathConnectionRouter) to the editor. Problem: I am trying to get myself into the workings of EMF adapters, and have tried to make use of the available tutorials, mainly the EMF-GEF Eclipse tutorial, vainolo's blog, and vogella's tutorial. I thought I'd start with an easy thing, so tried to remove a node from the graph and see if I get it to work. Which I didn't, and I don't see where the problem is. I can select a node, and have the generic delete Action in my toolbar, but when I click it, nothing happens. Here is the respective source code for the different responsible parts.   • Django: Proper place to unregister ModelAdmins

    Sometimes I need to UNREGISTER some ModelAdmins from the admin site, because I don't want them to be there as they are, eg. if I'm using the Sites framework, and I dont want it to appear in the admin. It's no big deal to e.g. call admin.site.unregister(Site) to do so. In most cases I put it in admin.py of some related app that I have made, but sometimes I end up putting it in a place that hasn't much to do with the original app; another possibility would be making a "dummy app" and put it there... Does anybody know a more descent place where these calls can live?

    I've searched around and found that when implementing an authentication module in MVC architecture some people opt to place the login related actions in the User controller while others place it in a controller dedicated to authentication only. In pseudo-java-like code: class UserController extends Controller { public login() { //... } } Accessed with http://mydomain.com/user/login. vs. class AuthController extends Controller { public login() { //... } } Accessed with http://mydomain.com/auth/login.     I was trying to place two uibuttons on uitableviewcell programmatically.. but unable to achieve that. somehow i managed to get the buttons through some sample project in which u can draw a nib for cell.. but i was unable to set a selector function for buttons.. in other example i can place a uiinfodark type button but when i change the type to rounded rect the button gets disappeared and i am unable to figure out why? I might be doing some silly mistake but I am really kinda stuck with it right now so I'll be very much thankful to all of you for helping in this regard.

    I'm currently trying to simulate the environment via XEN. I have installed two debian systems with such FS layout: cltest1:/etc# df -h Filesystem Size Used Avail Use% Mounted on /dev/xvda2 6.0G 417M 5.2G 8% / tmpfs 257M 0 257M 0% /lib/init/rw udev 10M 16K 10M 1% /dev tmpfs 257M 4.0K 257M 1% /dev/shm Host cltest2 is identical. Here's my drbd.conf global { minor-count 1; } resource mysql { protocol C; syncer { rate 10M; # 10 Megabytes } on cltest1 { device /dev/drbd0; disk /dev/xvda2; address 192.168.1.186:7789; meta-disk internal; } on cltest2 { device /dev/drbd0; disk /dev/xvda2; address 192.168.1.187:7789; meta-disk internal; } } I have not created filesystem on drbd0 Starting DRBD via init.d script errors out with: Starting DRBD resources: [ d(mysql) /dev/drbd0: Failure: (114) Lower device is already claimed. This usually means it is mounted. [mysql] cmd /sbin/drbdsetup /dev/drbd0 disk /dev/xvda2 /dev/xvda2 internal --set-defaults --create-device failed - continuing! Running: drbdadm create-md mysql gives: cltest1:/etc# drbdadm create-md mysql md_offset 6442446848 al_offset 6442414080 bm_offset 6442217472 Found ext3 filesystem which uses 6291456 kB current configuration leaves usable 6291228 kB Device size would be truncated, which would corrupt data and result in 'access beyond end of device' errors. You need to either * use external meta data (recommended) * shrink that filesystem first * zero out the device (destroy the filesystem) Operation refused. Command 'drbdmeta /dev/drbd0 v08 /dev/xvda2 internal create-md' terminated with exit code 40 drbdadm aborting As I understand, all of my problems are because I don't have unallocated disk space on xvda2. What are my options besides shrinking FS and connecting a separate physical disk? Can't the meta-data be stored on a file in the local filesystem?
