  • Passing Boost uBLAS matrices to OpenGL shader

    - by AJM
    I'm writing an OpenGL program where I compute my own matrices and pass them to shaders. I want to use Boost's uBLAS library for the matrices, but I have little idea how to get a uBLAS matrix into OpenGL's shader uniform functions. matrix<GLfloat, column_major> projection(4, 4); // Fill matrix ... GLuint projectionU = glGetUniformLocation(shaderProgram, "projection"); glUniformMatrix4fv(projectionU, 1, 0, (GLfloat *)... Um ...); Trying to cast the matrix to a GLfloat pointer causes an invalid cast error on compile.

  • varchar comparison in SQL Server

    - by Ram
    I am looking for some SQL varchar comparison function like C# string.compare (we can ignore case for now, should return zero when the character expression are same and a non zero expression when they are different) Basically I have some alphanumeric column in one table which needs to be verified in another table. I cannot do select A.col1 - B.col1 from (query) as "-" operator cannot be applied on character expressions I cannot cast my expression as int (and then do a difference/subtraction) as it fails select cast ('ASXT000R' as int) Conversion failed when converting varchar 'ASXT000R' to int Soundex would not do it as soundex is same for 2 similar strings Difference would not do it as select difference('abc','ABC') = 4 (as per msdn, difference is the difference in the soundex of 2 character expressions and difference =4 implies least different) Is there any other way of doing it ?

  • Conversion of pointer-to-pointer between derived and base classes?

    - by Mike Mueller
    Regarding the following C++ program: class Base { }; class Child : public Base { }; int main() { // Normal: using child as base is allowed Child *c = new Child(); Base *b = c; // Double pointers: apparently can't use Child** as Base** Child **cc = &c; Base **bb = cc; return 0; } GCC produces the following error on the last assignment statement: error: invalid conversion from ‘Child**’ to ‘Base**’ My question is in two parts: Why is there no implicit conversion from Child** to Base**? I can make this example work with a C-style cast or a reinterpret_cast. Using these casts means throwing away all type safety. Is there anything I can add to the class definitions to make these pointers cast implicitly, or at least phrase the conversion in a way that allows me to use static_cast instead?

  • How is conversion of float/double to int handled in printf?

    - by Sandip
    Consider this program int main() { float f = 11.22; double d = 44.55; int i,j; i = f; //cast float to int j = d; //cast double to int printf("i = %d, j = %d, f = %d, d = %d", i,j,f,d); //This prints the following: // i = 11, j = 44, f = -536870912, d = 1076261027 return 0; } Can someone explain why the casting from double/float to int works correctly in the first case, and does not work when done in printf? This program was compiled on gcc-4.1.2 on 32-bit linux machine.

  • Using java to send/receive different objects through UDP

    - by AAA
    Hello everyone, I am writing a program in Java where there are communications between two or more machines using UDP. My application sends objects after serializing them through the network to the other machine where it will be deserialized and dealt with it. I was successful in sending one kind of objects so far. My problem is that I want the sender to be able to send different kind of objects, and for the receiver to be able to receive them and cast them again to their appropriate types. However, since UDP allocates a byte buffer then receive the data into the buffer, it is impossible to cast or detect the type of the received object as different objects have different sizes. Is there is a way that I can use to send different kind of objects using UDP and then receive them at the other end? (I don't ask for code here, just some ideas) Thanks

  • How to get Resharper to show a Refactoring that it already has.

    - by AngryHacker
    Whenever Resharper encounters code like this: (treeListNode.Tag as GridLine).AdvertiserSeparation = 5; it presents you with a possible fix (since treeListNode.Tag as GridLine might be null). It says: 'Replace with Direct Cast', which turns the code into the following: ((GridLine) treeListNode.Tag).AdvertiserSeparation = 5; This is great. However, when it encounters code like this: GridLine line = treeListNode.Tag as GridLine; line.AdvertiserSeparation = 5; Resharper simply displays a warning 'Possible System.NullReferenceException', but does not offer me to 'Replace with Direct Cast'. Is there a way to make Resharper offer me this refactoring, since it already has it?

  • Java generics SuppressWarnings("unchecked") mystery

    - by Johannes Ernst
    Why does code alternative(1) compile without warnings, and code alternative(2) produce an "unchecked cast" warning? Common for both: class Foo<T> { Foo( T [] arg ) { } } Alternative (1): class Bar<T> extends Foo<T> { protected static final Object [] EMPTY_ARRAY = {}; @SuppressWarnings("unchecked") Bar() { super( (T []) EMPTY_ARRAY ); } } Alternative (2): class Bar<T> extends Foo<T> { @SuppressWarnings("unchecked") Bar() { super( (T []) EMPTY_ARRAY ); } protected static final Object [] EMPTY_ARRAY = {}; } Alternative (2) produces: javac -Xlint:unchecked Foo.java Bar.java Bar.java:4: warning: [unchecked] unchecked cast super( (T []) EMPTY_ARRAY ); ^ required: T[] found: Object[] where T is a type-variable: T extends Object declared in class Bar 1 warning This is: java version "1.7.0_07" Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (build 1.7.0_07-b10) Java HotSpot(TM) 64-Bit Server VM (build 23.3-b01, mixed mode)

  • Casting a primitive int to a Number

    - by Tamer
    Let's say that I have the following: int a = 2; Number b = (Number) a; System.out.println(b); // Prints 2 http://java.sun.com/docs/books/jls/first_edition/html/15.doc.html#238146 says that a primitive value may not be cast to a reference type. Does Java know to create an Integer from the primitive int and then cast to the superclass? How exactly does Java handle this behind the scenes? Thanks!

  • ProviderException: InvalidCastException

    - by JS
    Few of our clients are regularly getting invalid cast exception, with variations i.e. InvalidCastException / ProviderException, but both generating from method call: System.Web.Security.SqlRoleProvider.GetRolesForUser(String username) The other variation is: Exception type: InvalidCastException Exception message: Unable to cast object of type System.Int32 to type System.String. I had a look at application event log which shows: Stack trace: at System.Web.Security.SqlRoleProvider.GetRolesForUser(String username) at System.Web.Security.RolePrincipal.IsInRole(String role) at System.Web.Configuration.AuthorizationRule.IsTheUserInAnyRole(StringCollection roles, IPrincipal principal) at System.Web.Configuration.AuthorizationRule.IsUserAllowed(IPrincipal user, String verb) at System.Web.Configuration.AuthorizationRuleCollection.IsUserAllowed(IPrincipal user, String verb) at System.Web.Security.UrlAuthorizationModule.OnEnter(Object source, EventArgs eventArgs) at System.Web.HttpApplication.SyncEventExecutionStep.System.Web.HttpApplication.IExecutionStep.Execute() at System.Web.HttpApplication.ExecuteStep(IExecutionStep step, Boolean& completedSynchronously)* Has anyone come across this issue, and if so what is the fix? • User defined conversion operator as argument for printf

    - by BC
    I have a class that defined a user defined operator for a TCHAR*, like so CMyClass::operator const TCHAR*() const { // returns text as const TCHAR* } I want to be able to do something like CMyClass myClass; _tprintf(_T("%s"), myClass); or even _tprintf(_T("%s"), CMyClass(value)); But when trying, printf always prints (null) instead of the value. I have also tried a normal char* operator, as well variations with const etc. It only works correctly if I explicitly call the operator or do a cast, like _tprintf(_T("%s\n"), (const TCHAR*)myClass); _tprintf(_T("%s\n"), myClass.operator const TCHAR *()); However, I don't want to cast. How can this be achieved? Note, that a possibility is to create a function that has a parameter of const TCHAR*, so that it forcible calls the operator TCHAR*, but this I also don't want to implement.

  • How to handle subclasses in JasperReports?

    - by gotch4
    I've two classes (A and B) that extend a base class BASE. I need to make a report that takes an array of such classes and the prints the fields of A or B. I tought of using conditional expressions, then casting to one or another (depending on a field value). But I can't cast, because I don't know how to refere to the current bean. To do this I am using a JRBeanCollectionDataSource filled with a List<BASE>. How do I cast every bean to A or B in a report (or subreport)? I tried: ((A)this) but it says basically that this contains the report instance, not the current bean and gives error.

  • WCF reuse types in referenced assemblies does not reuse the ServiceContract Interface

    - by Matt
    I have three seperate projects: -MyUserControl (Needs a reference to a service implementing IMyService) -MyService (Implements IMyService) -MySharedInterfaces (IMyUserControl and IMyService) -MyWebApp The user control needs to be dynamically loaded at runtime. This implements IMyUserControl and has a property of type IMyService which will be set at runtime. The trouble is even with the option to reuse types the WebApp isn't reusing the IMyServiceType, it always generates it again from the Service Reference. This wouldn't be an issue if I could cast it to MySharedInterfaces.IMyService (which I can't understand, since it should be exactly the same). The user control is expecting something of type IMyService, is there anyway to either cast the WebServiceReference.IMyService back to MySharedInterface.IMyServiceReference or force the WebServiceReference to reuse the MySharedInterface.IMyServiceReference? Thanks

  • Good way to format decimal in SQL Server

    - by Brad
    We store a decimal(9,8) in our database. It can have any number of places after the decimal point (well, no more than 8). I am frustrated because I want to display it as human-readable text as part of a larger string created on the server. I want as many decimals to the right of the decimal point as are non-zero, for example: 0.05 0.12345 3.14159265 Are all good If I do CAST(d AS varchar(50)) I get formatting like: 0.05000000 0.12345000 3.14159265 I get similar output if I cast/convert to a float or other type before casting to a varchar. I know how to do a fixed number of decimal places, such as: 0.050 0.123 3.142 But that is not what I want. Yes, I know I can do this through complicated string manipulation (REPLACE, etc), there should be a good way to do it.

  • Cannot implicitly convert type System.Collection.Generic.IEnumberable

    - by Cen
    I'm receiving this error in my Linq statement --- Cannot implicitly convert type 'System.Collections.Generic.IEnumerable' to 'hcgames.ObjectClasses.ShoppingCart.ShoppingCartCartAddon'. An explicit conversion exists (are you missing a cast?) From this query ShoppingCartItems items = Cart.GetAllItems(); ShoppingCartCartAddons addons = Cart.GetAllAddons(); var stuff = from x in items select new ShoppingCartItem() { ProductID = x.ProductID, Quantity = x.Quantity, Name = x.Name, Price = x.Price, Weight = x.Weight, Addons = (from y in addons where y.ShoppingCartItemID == x.ID select y) }; I can not figure out how to cast this properly. Any suggestions? Thanks for your help!

  • Type casting in TPC inheritance

    - by Mohsen Esmailpour
    I have several products like HotelProduct, FlightProduct ... which derived from BaseProduct class. The table of these products will be generated in TPC manner in database. There is OrderLine class which has a BaseProduct. My problem is when i select an OrderLine with related product i don't know how cast BaseProduct to derived product. for example i have this query: var order = (from odr in _context.Orders join orderLine in _context.OrderLines on odr.Id equals orderLine.OrderId join hotel in _context.Products.OfType<HotelProduct>() on orderLine.ProductId equals hotel.Id where odr.UserId == userId && odr.Id == orderId orderby odr.OrderDate descending select odr).SingleOrDefault(); In OrderLine i have BaseProduct properties not properties of HotelProduct. Is there any way to cast BaseProduct to derived class in OrderLine or any other solutions ?

  • AVG time spent on multiple rows SQL-server?

    - by seo20
    I have a table tblSequence with 3 cols in MS SQL: ID, IP, [Timestamp] Content could look like this: ID IP [Timestamp] -------------------------------------------------- 4347 62.107.95.103 2010-05-24 09:27:50.470 4346 62.107.95.103 2010-05-24 09:27:45.547 4345 62.107.95.103 2010-05-24 09:27:36.940 4344 62.107.95.103 2010-05-24 09:27:29.347 4343 62.107.95.103 2010-05-24 09:27:12.080 ID is unique, there can be n number of IP's. Would like to calculate the average time spent per IP. in a single row Know you can do something like this: SELECT CAST(AVG(CAST(MyTable.MyDateTimeFinish - MyTable.MyDateTimeStart AS float)) AS datetime) But how on earth do I find the first and last entry of my unique IP row so I can have a start and finish time? I'M stuck. Would like to calculate the average time spent per IP. in a single row

  • T-SQL: How Do I Create A "Private" Function Inside A Stored Procedure

    - by RPM1984
    Okay so im writing a SQL Server 2008 Stored Procedure (maintenance script). In doing so, being a good boy i've done plenty of error handling, checking rowcounts, printing output messages, etc But in doing this, ive found myself writing over and over again something like this: SELECT @RowsAffected = @@ROWCOUNT IF @RowsAffected > 0 BEGIN PRINT CAST(@RowsAffected, NVARCHAR(2)) + 'rows updated.' END Or debug messages like this: PRINT 'User ' + CAST(@UserId AS NVARCHAR(5)) + ' modified successfully' Is there a way i can create a kind of 'subroutine' inside the stored procedure (like a private method) that can accept something as a parameter (doesnt have to though) and do some logic? I want to be able to do something like this: CheckRowCounts Or this: PrintUserUpatedMessage(@UserId) Which would then perform the above logic (check rowcount, print message, etc) And yes obviously i can create a UDF, but then i would need to create/drop it etc as this logic is only required for the life of the execution of this stored procedure. Getting sick and tired of writing the same code over and over again, and changing all the different areas ive used it when i get an error =) Can anyone help?

Thx here is the code I have populate my tree node.ChildNodes.Add ( customTreeNode = new customTreeNode(site) ); customTreeNode public class customTreeNode : TreeNode { public Guid Id { get; set; } private SPWebEntry _dataContext; public SPWebEntry DataContext { get { return _dataContext; } } public customTreeNode(SPWebEntry DataContext) { _dataContext = DataContext; this.Text = _dataContext.Title; this.Id = _dataContext.Id; } } and the event void treeViewSiteCollection_SelectedNodeChanged(object sender, EventArgs e) { treeViewSiteCollection.SelectedNode; } treeViewSiteCollection.SelectedNode is of type TreeNode and I cannot cast it. • IGrouping and Casting in Linq

    - by FiveTools
    I have the following query: var groupCats = from g in groups group g by g.Value into grouped select new { GroupCategory = grouped.Key, Categories = GetCategories(grouped.Key, child) }; This works fine. In the anonymous type returned GroupCategory is a string, and Categories are an Enumerable - what is the proper way to declare this instead of using 'var'? I tried: IGrouping<string, string> groupCats = from g in groups group g by g.Value into grouped select new { GroupCategory = grouped.Key, Categories = GetCategories(grouped.Key, child) }; and IGrouping<string,Enumerable<string>> groupCats = from g in groups group g by g.Value into grouped select new { GroupCategory = grouped.Key, Categories = GetCategories(grouped.Key, child) }; In both instances I get: Cannot implicity convert type....An explicit conversion exists (are you missing a cast) How do I cast this?

  • C2664 when casting child class to templated parent class

    - by DC
    I have a parent class which is templated, and a child class which implements it. template< typename T1, typename T2> class ParentClass{ . . . }; class ChildClass : public ParentClass<MyT1, MyT2> { . . . }; And I want to have a pointer which I can use polymorphically: ParentClass<T1, T2>* ptr; ptr = static_cast<ParentClass<MyT1, MyT2>* >(new ChildClass() ); No matter how I cast it, I always get a C2664 which has the same expression: error C2664: cannot convert parameter 1 from 'ParentClass< T1,T2 *' to 'ParentClass< T1,T2 *' Is it not possible to cast pointer types between inherited types if the parent is templated, even if the types specified in the templates are the same?

  • C# : Number Conversion Problem

    - by Sayem Ahmed
    Today I faced a strange problem in C#. I have an ASP.NET page where user can enter certain price, quantity etc. I get the price value, convert it to double, then multiply it with 100 and then typecast it to an integer. When the price is "33.30", after converting it to double it remains 33.3 (obviously...), but after multiplying it with 100, it becomes 3329.9999999999995, and when I cast it to integer by applying simple cast operator "(int) (price * 100) ", it becomes 3329. Right now I have no idea why this is happening. So I thought may be you guys can help :) .

    Hello, the code below is broken, but I'm not sure how. I've definitely made some big assumptions here as a newbie. I'm basically trying to create an if else where imBannerRotater functions on #cast if the variable is true and #pram if it is false. How could I fix this to get that result? The # are URLs. Thanks!-zeem $(document).ready(function(){ if (mmjsRegionName == 'CO') { $("#cast").imBannerRotater({ return_type: 'json', data_map: { image_name: 'name', url_name: 'url' }, image_url: '#', base_path: '#', }); } else { $("#pram").imBannerRotater({ return_type: 'json', data_map: { image_name: 'name', url_name: 'url' }, image_url: '#', base_path: '#', }); });
