  • VLC RTP Streaming in FC12

    I'm trying to get VLC to work streaming RTP audio/video over my office network. The goal is multicast a/v streaming. In all test cases, we are streaming from VLC to VLC. I am able to stream from Windows to Windows, and from Fedora to Windows, but not from Windows to Fedora. Additionally, I am unable to receive a LOCAL stream from one instance of VLC to another, within Fedora. I don't see any reason why this would be. The buffer indicator (where the elapsed/total time is normally displayed) never shows any connectivity, so it would appear to be a network problem, but since I am able to stream from Fedora to Windows (same IP, same port) I thought it would be something else. Does anyone know of a solution to this issue?

  • Exchange 2007 backup / restore

    To explain my situation I have a exchange 2007 server and I have recently upgraded to SP2 so that I can use windows server backup to take an "exchange aware" backup of the server. Is there an easy way of restoring this data onto a second server to which I have pre-installed server 2008 / exchange 2007 without upsetting my current exchange server set-up. Also is there a better way to do this, such as running one as a fall over should the primary exchange server develop a fault. I am still new to all this so please excuse any stupidity in my questions. Thanks in advance for any help and assistance

    Is there any way to export a Microsoft SQL Server database to an sql script? I'm looking for something which behaves similarly to mysqldump, taking a database name, and producing a single script which will recreate all the tables, stored procedures, reinsert all the data etc. I've seen http://vyaskn.tripod.com/code.htm#inserts, but I ideally want something to recreate everything (not just the data) which works in a single step to produce the final script.

  • "sh: /usr/sbin/xenstored: not found" - But it's there?

    What would cause running the file /usr/sbin/xenstored to print sh: /usr/sbin/xenstored: not found However, the file /usr/sbin/xenstored is there and is not a symbolic link. Actually I should be running this as root. That prints a similarly odd message. sudo: unable to execute /usr/sbin/xenstored: No such file or directory By the way, xenstored is not a script, it's an ELF executable. My guess is that it's because I haven't gotten all the dependent libraries installed. However, I would expect it to say something like this: ./xenstored: error while loading shared libraries: libxenctrl.so.4.0: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory Which is true of running xenstored on a system that doesn't have all the required libraries. Why do I get "not found" vs the much more useful "cannot open shared object file"?

    I'm attempting to set up SSH on a Cisco 2811 and having some difficulties.   • Trouble migrating Joomla from Linux to Windows server

    I'm having some trouble migrating a Joomla website from a Linux server to a Windows server. The database came over fine, Besides that, all I've done is download all the files from the current site, and change configuration.php so the log and tmp directories show "./tmp/" and "./logs/" I keep having an error in the PHP log stating PHP Fatal error: Class 'JTable' not found I've downloaded the site multiple times now, and I'm convinced this is a configuration problem, and not a missing file problem. I've even tried installing a mod for backup on the linux box to try and migrate the site, but sadly the mod had problems installing. The new server is running IIS 7.5 on Windows Web Server. PHP 5.2.14 and MySQL

  • Why do some emails sent in Outlook 2010 get stuck in Outbox with date set to "None"?

    I'm using Outlook 2010 against Exchange 2007. Emails I compose sometimes get stuck in the Outbox with date "None" as shown below. These emails never leave the outbox unless I delete them and recompose. Sometimes the problem happens again until I restart the client. Additionally, if I open a good (one with today's date) email from the outbox and then send it, it too gets dated "None" and never gets sent.

    A friend forwarded a contact list to my gmail account from Outlook (2007 or 2010, not sure which). I can see there is an attachment in gmail but when I save it to my local drive it's just a plain text file containing the text This attachment is a MAPI 1.0 embedded message and is not supported by this mail system.   • How can I connect to my Airport Extreme Shared Disk using Windows?

    I have a shared disk attached to my Airport Extreme, which I can connect to remotely in OS X through the finder via command - k, and entering in the proper address: afp://test.dyndns.org:1111 1111 being the port I've reserved for the disk in the AE port mapping. This is such a great feature, but I don't always have access to a Mac. My question is how can I connect to this drive via Windows XP? Please note, that the shared drive is a Drobo FS and formatted to handle both Windows and Mac OS. I've tried mapping a network drive via My Computer - Tools - Map Network Drive and entering: \\test.dyndns.org:1111\Drobo-Name I've also tried Start - Run and entering the same, both with and without the port #.

    I have Apache2 running on Ubuntu 14.04LTS. To begin securing network access to the machine, I want to start by blocking everything, then make specific allow statements for specific subnets to browse to sites hosted in Apache. The Ubuntu Server is installed with no packages selected during install, the only packages added after install are: apt-get update; apt-get install apache2, php5 (with additional php5-modules), openssh-server, mysql-client Following are my /etc/hosts.deny & /etc/hosts.allow settings: /etc/hosts.deny ALL:ALL /etc/hosts.allow has no allow entries at all. I would expect all network protocols to be denied. The symptom is that I can still web browse to sites hosted on the Apache web server even though there is a deny all statement in /etc/hosts.deny The system was rebooted after the deny entry was added. Why would /etc/hosts.deny with ALL:ALL be ignored and allow http browsing to sites hosted on the apache web server?

  • Windows Server 2012 Hyper-V very slow

    I have been running several Hyper-V VMs on Windows Server 2008 R2 for the past couple of years and enjoying perfectly adequate performance for my testing/development/r&d environments. I'm a software developer so my hardware knowledge is basic however I built the rig using: •Gigabyte GA-X58A-UD3R Intel X58 (Socket 1366) DDR3 Motherboard •Intel Core i7 960 3.20GHz (Bloomfield) (Socket LGA1366) •24GB triple channel RAM The host OS is running on an OCZ SSD and all the VMs are running on a 2TB Marvell SATA3 RAID 0 array consisting of 2 Western Digital Caviar Black 7,200rpm drives. I have tested the speed of the 2TB drive and appear to be getting less than 3Mbs but it can adequately run a 4 VM farm including a DC, (SQL) database and IIS application servers. I recently upgraded the SSD on which the host runs to a 256GB OCZ Vertex 4 and took the opportunity to upgrade to Windows Server 2012 and installed the Hyper-V role. I tried importing one of my existing Windows Server 2008 R2 VMs (and converted it to .vhdx) plus I have tried creating a brand new Windows Server 2008 R2 VM but both are running extremely slowly and I can see nothing obvious using the host and guest Task Manager/Resource Monitor tools. In both cases the VM has 8GB RAM (fixed), 4 CPUs, fixed size HD (not expanding) and is using an external virtual network running on a separate NIC to the host. I have upgraded the BIOS to the latest available version and checked the virtualization settings. I have run out of "obvious" (to a developer) things to check/configure and my next option will be to re-install the host OS but before I do I would very much appreciate any advice from any experts out there.     i have a text file that contains 10,000 url's with a unique number i want to save the file as. Each line has a 10 character code, then the URL of the image to retrieve. How can I make the input file use the first 10 characters as the wget filename? this is an example of the input file: input.txt x100083590http://image.allmusic.com/13/adg/cov200/drt200/t291/t29123q8m19.jpg b200149548http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/41DoH%2BAWKEL.jpg z100151855http://image.allmusic.com/13/amg/cov200/dri400/i450/i45035hxdrb.jpg p400171646http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/61cH4n34IhL.jpg wget -i input.txt would get the file but not with the preceding unique number. I want t29123q8m19.jpg (the first line) to be saved as x100083590.jpg If there is a better way to write out the input file, say with the URL first, then I can do that too, but I will never know the length of the first field. Right now the first 10 characters will always be what I want to save the wget image as. Edit This is being done in a windows environment.

  • Office 2007 Calendar Overlays - Combine meetings that everybody shares

    I want to display approximately 10 people's calendar in Outlook 2007 using overlays. The problem is that they all share the same meeting a couple of times a week. Thus, I see that show up 10 times on a single day, which compresses what is actually displayed. Since they are all at the same meeting(s), it would be nice to have them just display once. Is this built into Office 2007?

  • Replacing DropBox with: Amazon S3 + SSL + GPG/TrueCrypt + Mounting on OSX ??

    So, right now we're using DropBox to share various data files around between approximately 10 Mac OS X systems. However, we already have an S3 account and everyone on the lowest DropBox plan of $10/mo seems too expensive. So, I am contemplating something that would allow us to replace DropBox with our own home-grown solution. We are all fairly technical people and/or smart enough to follow some steps, so if it's not as "user friendly" as DropBox we're all comfortable with that. There are plenty of docs out there that have bits and pieces of what I want but some of the tools don't seem to fit the requirements: Transport security via SSL to the bucket Encryption of bucket contents Bi-directional syncing Most of the scripts I can find on the internet use "duplicity" which appears to fail #1 (it doesn't look like duplicity supports SSL to S3 - the docs don't state but the protocol looks plain old http http://www.nongnu.org/duplicity/duplicity.1.html#sect6 ) Many scripts use gpg to encrypt files. This seems like it could work, however I have to make sure that each OSX client is able to use the same key to encrypt and decrypt files (key management is left to me to manage). Finally, most of the scripts use one-way replication, e.g. using Amazon S3 as a simple backup store. As we'd be using Amazon S3 as the "repository" they fail this one. Whew. So, I'd love a single tool that does this but after an exhaustive search I don't think one exists. I'd be happy just knowing which tools out there can fulfill my 3 requirements, after that I can stitch together the rest. Any thoughts? THANKS!

    Is there a way to set windows 2008 file and folder sharing permission so you only get prompted for a password on certain shares? That is, right now, when I got to \theserver\ I get prompted for a password despite having some shared folders that permit anonymous access. Is there a way, asides from setting the policy sharing model to guest rather than Classic to allow a user from a non-domain pc to go to \theserver\ and see the shares and permit him or her to enter a folder with anonymous access without having to enter a username or password?

  • Best labeler for the server room?

    Right now, I've got a Brother P-touch labeler that prints four or five sizes of text on one long label. It has features such as italics and bold. It's...non-ideal. What do you use in your server room? I have heard of labelers that will print vertically as well as horizontally, or which can produce labels for cable management as well. I also think it would be great to be able to produce barcodes for my tapes (LTO-3). So basically, I would like a labeler that prints normal, can print cable labels, and can print barcodes. Unicorn optional. Any ideas, or could you even suggest the best labeler for each solution?

  • Downgrade 'local' packages in Debian/Ubuntu

    I recently unticked the "pre-released updates" option in Software Sources on my Ubuntu Lucid 10.04.1 installation. The Ubuntu wiki states the following regarding this source: The proposed updates are updates which are waiting to be moved into the recommended updates queue after some testing. They may never reach recommended or they may be replaced with a more recent update. Roughly 20 installed packages have indeed not made it into recommended updates, and occasionally cause conflicts when I install new software, as related packages of the newer version are unavailable now that I've disabled the source. How can I force a downgrade of all packages for which an earlier version exists in a enabled repository?

    I'm working on getting a Wordpress MU install running on my VPS. I enabled the 'simple-vhost' mod and can access the site fine. The problem is I can only get to it from domain.com. If I try www.domain.com I get shown the lighthttpd page? I'd like to get everything pointing to one place.   • PHP + IIS Application Pool Identity Windows\Temp permissions

    I am currently running PHP (5.3) on IIS 7.5 on a Win2k8 R2 Web Edition Server and would like to know what, if any, problems or security vulnerabilities I may introduct into a system by assigning Read, Write, Modify & Execute permissions to either IUSR account or the IIS_USERS group for %SystemRoot%\Temp? Should I be altering permissions to that folder at all (as Windows reminds me I probably shouldn't when i attempt to change them)? Should I create a temp folder somewhere else and set permissions accordingly? The problem is when i set Anonymous Authentication (I'm guessing is a more secure option???) to use the App Pool identity, when starting sessions PHP gets stuck in a loop because it's unable to create session files in the %SystemRoot%\Temp folder due to lack of permission on the application pool user or IIS_USERS group. Another problem being ImageMagick (PHP Extension) is being denied access to %SystemRoot%\Temp to write temporary files so is throwing exceptions. I have tried searching Google however have not found anything that touches upon this subject specifically. Any help greatly appreciated.

  • Is it possible to rewrite some query strings to HTTPS and keep everything else on HTTP?

    I'm rewriting query strings to pretty URIs, example: index.php?q=/en/contact becomes /en/contact and all works nicely.. # httpd.conf # HANDLE THE QUERY RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d RewriteRule ^(.*)$ index.php?q=$1 [L,QSA] Is it even possible to rewrite single queries to force https and force everything else onto http? I've tried many different approaches that typically end in infinate loops. I could write a plugin to do this in PHP but figured it would be more effecient to handle this in the server conf. I'd be greatful for any advice. EDIT: To clarify, I'd like to be able to rewrite the non SSL http://example.com/index.php?q=/en/contact to the SSL enabled https://example.com/en/contact and every query that is not /en/contact get written to http://example.com/...

  • Lookup Multiple Results for Multiple Criteria

    I've got a list of parent SKUs for items I need to create in my inventory system. This list has been finely paired down to the 165 products we would like to carry. However, each one of these 165 SKUs has between 2 and 8 child SKUs of different colors, sizes, etc. Those are stored on a different worksheet, mixed into around 2500 items. Those are the SKUs I need to input into my inventory system. Here is what it looks like. Sheet 1 is just SKUs: A 1 2 3 4 Sheet 2 is comprised of all the child SKUs, with parent SKUs in column B. Not all parents have the same number of children: A B 1BLKM 1 1BLKL 1 1BLUM 1 2BLKM 2 2BLKL 2 2BLUM 2 2ORAM 2 3BLKM 3 3BLUM 3 I want to look up all of the child SKUs for the Parent SKU list that has been fine tuned. Parent SKU is included as a column on the child SKU worksheet. I need to lookup all matches of the Parent SKU, then continue to move down the parent SKU list until all matches for all 165 parent items have been found. It seems like every function I try can't use an Array for input. Is there a way to do this with Lookup or some combination of index, match, row, etc? Any way at all to do it without VBA? Or maybe even a VBA solution with code that I can understand, as someone who hasn't used VBA before.

    (Cross posted from Stack Overflow 1) I've got two hard disks in my computer, and have installed Solaris 10u8 on the first and Opensolaris 2010.3 (dev onnv_134) on the second. Both systems uses ZFS and were independently created with a zpool name of 'rpool'. While running Solaris 10u8 on the first disk, how do I mount the second ZFS hard disk (at /dev/dsk/c1d1s0) on an arbitrary mount point (like /a) for diagnostics?
