  • How to deploy a commercial portable application?

    - by plainth
Hi, We plan to sell a Windows portable application. By 'portable' I mean that it can be run from any Windows computer without installing it. For example from an USB stick etc. However the application while (theoretically) it can work anywhere, is targeted to LAN environments. What solutions do you see that while keeping this advantage (in a more or a lesser degree) to still make money from it? PS: The application is/will be written in Delphi.

  • SCM/VCS: Tracking directories

    - by Roger Pate
When I first found out that Mercurial tracked files and not directories, I was a bit disappointed. (This means you can't represent an empty directory in the repo.) However, it doesn't seem to be an issue in practice, and makes some things a tad easier for me. How about other SCM systems? (Edit this post to add them.) What advantages or disadvantages have you found by not tracking directories? (Each one separately in an answer, please.) Do track directories: Subversion Bazaar/bzr (add one!) Do NOT track directories: Mercurial/hg git (add one!)

  • Stop doxygen (in some directories) for recursive input

    - by ncohen
Hi everyone, I've used this tuto (http://www.duckrowing.com/2010/03/18/documenting-objective-c-with-doxygen-part-ii/) to create my documentation... I would like to run doxygen in some directories and not in others! The problem is that I don't want to reorganize all the directories! Is it possible to put a file in the directories I don't want doxygen to run into? Thanks in advance!

  • How does a portable Thread Specific Storage Mechanism's Naming Scheme Generate Thread Relative Uniqu

    - by Hassan Syed
A portable thread specific storage reference/identity mechanism, of which boost/thread/tss.hpp is an instance, needs a way to generate a unique keys for itself. This key is unique in the scope of a thread, and is subsequently used to retrieve the object it references. This mechanism is used in code written in a thread neutral manner. Since boost is a portable example of this concept, how specifically does such a mechanism work ?

  • MacOS X 10.6 Portable Home Directory sync fails due to FileSync agent crashing

    - by tegbains
On one of our cleanly installed MacPro machines running MacOS X 10.6.6 connected to our MacOS X 10.6.6 Server, syncing data using Portable Home Directories fails. It seems to be due to the filesync agent crashing during the home sync. We get -41 and -8026 errors, which we are suspecting are indicating that there is too much data or filesync agent can't read the files. The user is the owner of the files and can read/write to all of the files. < Logout 0:: [11/02/04 13:10:42.751] Error -41 copying /Volumes/RCAUsers/earlpeng/Library/Mail/Mailboxes/email from old imac./Attachments/12081/2.2. • How to copy subdirectories of multiple un-named directories

    - by Scrubbie
    Using just Ant, I want to copy subdirectories of some top-level directories but the names of top-level directories can change so I need Ant to programatically determine which directories to copy. In other words, given the sample directory structure below, copy the contents of each ./<projectX>/bin directory to ./bin. bin project1 \-- bin \-- com \-- name \-- dir1 \-- file1.class \-- file2.class \-- file3.class \-- dir2 \-- file4.class \-- file5.class project2 \-- bin \-- com \-- name \-- dir3 \-- file6.class \-- file7.class \-- file8.class project3 \-- bin \-- com \-- name \-- dir4 \-- file9.class \-- dir5 \-- file10.class \-- file11.class And the end result would be a bin directory that looks like this: bin \-- com \-- name \-- dir1 \-- file1.class \-- file2.class \-- file3.class \-- dir2 \-- file4.class \-- file5.class \-- dir3 \-- file6.class \-- file7.class \-- file8.class \-- dir4 \-- file9.class \-- dir5 \-- file10.class \-- file11.class I've tried <copy todir="${basedir}/bin"> <fileset dir="${basedir}"> <include name="**/bin/*"/> <exclude name="bin"/> </fileset> </copy> but that includes the projectX/bin directories underneath the top-level bin directory.

  • MSBuild syntax for deleting files/directories and reporting what was deleted

    - by Maslow
    Vs2010 .net 4.0 targeted project if that affects the answers at all. I want to delete the bin and obj directories and output a message for the path of what was deleted. <Target Name="CleanOutputs" Condition="'$(MvcBuildViews)'=='true'"> <Message Text="Cleaning Outputs" Importance="high"/> <RemoveDir Directories="$(OutputPath);obj" RemovedDirectories="@(removed)" /> <Message Text="Removed: %(removed.FullPath)" Importance="high"/> <Message Text=" "/> <!--<RemoveDir Directories="obj" />--> <MakeDir Condition="!Exists('$(OutputPath)')" Directories="$(OutputPath)" /> </Target> Is what I have, but the Removed: message never shows.

  • Problem deleting .svn directories on Windows XP

    - by John L
I don't seem to have this problem on my home laptop with Windows XP, but then I don't do much work there. On my work laptop, with Windows XP, I have a problem deleting directories when it has directories that contain .svn directories. When it does eventually work, I have the same issue emptying the Recycle bin. The pop-up window says "Cannot remove folder text-base: The directory is not empty" or prop-base or other folder under .svn This continued to happen after I changed config of TortoiseSVN to stop the TSVN cache process from running and after a reboot of the system. Multiple tries will eventually get it done. But it is a huge annoyance because there are other issues I'm trying to fix, so I'm hoping it is related. 'Connected Backup PC' also runs on the laptop and the real problem is that cygwin commands don't always work. So I keep thinking the dot files and dot directories have something to do with both problems and/or the backup or other process scanning the directories is doing it. But I've run out of ideas of what to try or how to identify the problem further.

  • Upgrading from Vista Home Basic to Vista Business

    - by miracle2k
I have a PC that came with Vista Home Basic, and I now have some need for Remote Desktop, which is not included in Home Basic, so I'd like to upgrade. Now, there is apparently some hack to get Remote Desktop working in Home Premium, and obviously, it's in Ultimate, but really, the Business Edition would be the best fit for us. Unfortunately, Windows Anytime Upgrade does not provide a path from Home Basic to Business. My question is, if I were to buy a standalone Vista Business license, could I use it to do an upgrade from my current Home Basic installation? Would it be simply entering the new license key?

  • Portable server room air-con options

    - by Bridgette
We are looking for portable industrial aircond for our server room which whould blow hot air to the sealing cavity, split-system is not an option (http://www.ikoo.com.au/Aircond.png). Something exactly like this would be ideal, but unfortunately not available in AUS: http://www.apc.com/resource/include/techspec_index.cfm?base_sku=ACPA4000&ISOCountrycode=us http://www.apcmedia.com/salestools/ASTE-6Z2RUU_R1_EN.pdf. So we pretty much looking for competing products to the APC's NetworkAIR PA4000 available in AU. ? We currently have 3 x DeLonghi Penguino PACT120, but space is limited and getting more of these is prob not ideal.

  • NAT for Sprint Nexus S "Portable Wi-Fi hotspot"

    - by Jon Rodriguez
I am on a 2010 Macbook Air connected to the web over wifi tethering on my Sprint Nexus S. I want to be able to host a few files using MAMP, but it seems that Sprint is running a NAT. When I query checkip.dyndns.org right now, it returns 68.27.228.75. However, trying to navigate to that IP fails (even though I do have MAMP's Apache running on port 80, as verified via loopback). When I whois 68.27.228.75, it appears to be a Sprint address, with NetName "SPRINTPCS" and OrgName "Sprint Nextel Corporation". So, is there some way I can circumvent Sprint's NAT to allow people to connect to my server that is running on a Nexus S Portable Wi-Fi hotspot?

  • OpenLDAP User Home Directory

    - by Bo Zhou
I'm trying to install OpenLDAP on CentOS 6.2 . I manually added the LDAP accounts on server, and I had been successful to login the server by the LDAP username/password, but I found that the Home on Desktop of GNOME still points to a local user's Home folder, at the same time, the LDAP user's Home folder was created under /home as expected. So my question is how should I map the Home folder of desktop to the path set on LDAP server ? Thanks ! And how should I use ldapadd command, it always tells me the SASL error, but I really do not know why. Thanks !

  • Change the update channel in Portable Thunderbird?

    - by rubo77
I think it needs some explanation How to update a TB Portable installation to beta or aurora. I tried to change the preferences in about:config: update.channel to aurora but that had no effect. Then I edited ThunderbirdPortable3\App\thunderbird\defaults\pref\channel-prefs.js and restarted TB. There I got the message in the Help screen, that I am on update channel aurora, which seems fine. Still: the update downloaded Thunderbird 29 pre beta and tried to install but ended with the message that it couldnt be installed due to patch problems: Das Update konnte nicht installiert werden (Patch-Anwendung fehlgeschlagen) I tried this again with the channel "nightly" and got the same error. (On channel "beta" there seem to be no newer version than in the channel "release".) How can I change my installation to channel aurora and update it?

  • Portable VirtualBox with Ubuntu on two machines

    - by eactor
I have VirtualBox Portable installed from vbox.me. I moved it on a USB drive and added a virtual Ubuntu. It works fine on the computer I created it, but moving the usb drive to a different the Ubuntu does not start any more. I already changed location descriptions in <machine>.vbox and the VirtualBox.xml. When pressing Shift while starting the GRUB loader comes up, so I tried the recovery mode. Same here – startup freezes and nothing happens. Any hints for me? • How to Run Apache Commands From Oracle HTTP Server 11g Home

    - by Daniel Mortimer
Every now and then you come across a problem when there is nothing in the "troubleshooting manual" which can help you. Instead you need to think outside the box. This happened to me two or three years back. Oracle HTTP Server (OHS) 11g did not start. The error reported back by OPMN was generic and gave no clue, and worse the HTTP Server error log was empty, and remained so even after I had increased the OPMN and HTTP Server log levels. After checking configuration files, operating system resources, etc I was still no nearer the solution. And then the light bulb moment! OHS is based on Apache - what happens if I attempt to start HTTP Server using the native apache command. Trouble was the OHS 11g solution has its binaries and configuration files in separate "home" directories ORACLE_HOME contains the binaries ORACLE_INSTANCE contains the configuration files How to set the environment so that native apache commands run without error? Eventually, with help from a colleague, the knowledge articleHow to Start Oracle HTTP Server 11g Without Using opmnctl [ID 946532.1]was born! To be honest, I cannot remember the exact cause and solution to that OHS problem two or three years ago. But, I do remember that an attempt to start HTTP Server using the native apache command threw back an error to the console which led me to discover the culprit was some unusual filesystem fault. The other day, I was asked to review and publish a new knowledge article which described how to use the apache command to dump a list of static and shared loaded modules. This got me thinking that it was time [ID 946532.1] was given an update. The resultHow To Run Native Apache Commands in an Oracle HTTP Server 11g Environment [ID 946532.1] Highlights: Title change Improved environment setting scripts Interactive, should be no need to manually edit the scripts (although readers are welcome to do so) Automatically dump out some diagnostic information Inclusion of some links to other troubleshooting collateral To view the knowledge article you need a My Oracle Support login. For convenience, you can obtain the scripts via the links below.MS Windows:Wrapper cmd script - calls main cmd script [After download, remove the ".txt" file extension]Main cmd script - sets OHS 11g environment to run Apache commands [After download, remove the ".txt" file extension]Unix:Shell script - sets OHS 11g environment to run Apache commands on Unix Please note: I cannot guarantee that the scripts held in the blog repository will be maintained. Any enhancements or faults will applied to the scripts attached to the knowledge article. I'm migrating my blog that is currently hosted over at vbCity.com (which is an outstanding developer community!) to a new home at geekswithblogs.net. I truly appreciate the comradery of Serge B, Ged Mead, and the other team members at the "City". What you can expect to find here (my interests): Most .NET programming topics General computing Language examples in C#, VB.NET, and Boo WCF WPF Mathematical / GPS solutions F# (in progress... if you can say that much) Obsessed with code performance (speed) Some photography My background: Kansas State University Grad (Agriculture Technology Management) From Richmond, VA Self taught programmer (started with C# in VS2002) NOT a professional programmer (enables free thinking?!)  I'm no Jeff Atwood or Beth Massi, but you should expect to see some interesting stuff to follow.

  • Low disk space: home/user folder occupies 94GB

    - by tedtoy
I am low on disk space and when I check the Disk Usage analyzer (using gksudo baobab) it indicates that my home/teddy folder is using 94GB, but when I browse through its contents I can only account for about 1gb of that usage. I've tried sudo apt-get clean and deleting the cached package files from Synaptic Package Manager, emptied trash but that has not changed the amount of free space I have. It seems similar to this problem But using the root disk usage analyzer has not given any insight into what is consuming so much space. Any ideas?

  • Error when running binary with root setuid under encrypted home directory

    - by carestad
I'm using a VPN script for Juniper's Secure Access protocol form here, which executes a binary located under ~/.juniper_networks/network_connect/ncsvc with the following permissions: -rws--s--x 1 root root 1225424 okt. 25 13:54 ncsvc But when I do, I get the following error: ncsvc> Failed to setuid to root. Error 1: Operation not permitted Moving/copying the ~/.juniper_networks folder to e.g. /opt/juniper (with the same owner permissions), I don't get the error. In the forum thread at Ubuntuforums someone pointed out that it's probably because I have encrypted my /home and thus a "problem" with ecryptfs. How can I fix this?

  • How to Recover an Encrypted Home Directory on Ubuntu

    - by Chris Hoffman
Access an encrypted home directory when you’re not logged in – say, from a live CD – and all you’ll see is a README file. You’ll need a terminal command to recover your encrypted files. You should also back up your mount passphrase ahead of time – you may need this in the future. While eCryptfs normally decrypts your files with your login passphrase, the mount passphrase may be necessary if eCryptfs’s files become lost.
