  • How to send a Facebook notification through their API

    I asked this on the Facebook Developers Forum with no responses.. How do I send notifications to users so they show up in the Notifications globe icon tab on the top left of a user's Facebook page? Some applications I use have their notifications show up there, but I don't see how that mechanism works in Facebook's API docs. Neither are there any permissions which seem to be required to send users notifications.

    Is there a function in Windows API to toggle the "Show hidden files, folders and drives" option in Windows Explorer (Tools Folder Options... View tab). I know of a related registry key, but changing that would not have immediate effect. The key is: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SOFTWARE/Microsoft/Windows/CurrentVersion/Explorer/Advanced/Folder/Hidden/SHOWALL Trying to do this from C#, but the question is not language-specific.

I know that Webmin has a Perl API that makes it easy to parse and modify most common configuration pro grammatically, while preserving changes that might have been made by hand. Are there any other libraries that has similar functionality, perhaps for other languages (Python, Ruby, C, C++, etc)?

    When programming against a fluent API, I've seen the style mostly like this: var obj = objectFactory.CreateObject() .SetObjectParameter(paramName, value) .SetObjectParameter(paramName, value) .DoSomeTransformation(); What is the reasoning behind putting the dot at the beginning of the line instead of the end of the line like this: var obj = objectFactory.CreateObject(). SetObjectParameter(paramName, value). SetObjectParameter(paramName, value). DoSomeTransformation(); Or, is it merely a style thing that a team makes a consensus on?

  • KML Layers Cursor CSS - Google Maps API v3

    I've run into a small problem with the semi-new KML Overlay functionality with Google Maps API v3, wherein while I am able to use "suppressInfoWindows: true;", the cursor still appears as though the overlay(s) are clickable. Is there a way at this time to change the css on the overlay(s) so that the cursor is the default cursor, so that they are purely visual, and don't confuse the user?     I am using google maps API v3 and have created several polygons on the map. I want the functionality that when the user hovers over a given area (polygon) the individual polygon changes color. Is there any way to do this? (Later I'd like to be able to register mouse events on the given area as well). thanks.
