  • JQuery Validation - Wrap offending field in a div.

    Hi, It's my first time using StackOverFlow and first time trying to set up jQuery Validation. It's displaying <label> tags with the error messages as default behaviour, however the way my CSS is set up I need a div to wrap around the offending element and a message display in <p> tags. Without errors, my html looks like this: <div class="grid-26 append-2"> <p class="noMarginBottom"> <label>First Name</label> <div class="jNiceInputWrapper"> <div class="jNiceInputInner"> <input type="text" class="text jNiceInput" name="name"/> </div> </div> </p> <span class="clear"/> </div> And with Errors, it needs to look like this - Note the div with class "error" and the <p> tag. <div class="grid-26 append-2"> <div class="error"> <p>Please write your real name</p> <p class="noMarginBottom"> <label>First Name</label> <div class="jNiceInputWrapper"> <div class="jNiceInputInner"> <input type="text" class="text jNiceInput" name="name"/> </div> </div> </p> <span class="clear"/> </div> </div> My Validation code is very basic. $(document).ready(function(){ $("#contact_form").validate({ rules:{ name: { required: true } } }); }); This is my first venture into jQuery and form validation, so I'll be the first to say "I'm lost!" any help would be greatly appreciated. The validation is not executed. Can anybody just press me against the place where my error lies?

  • How can i make a callback to accordion after form validation, to show errors

    I have a very long form, which is divided into fieldsets which in turn are being shown or hidden, using the harmonica from jQuery UI. I am using form validation from jQuery as well, all newest versions. After submission and validation the user is redirected to the first erroneous field by $('myForm').validate(); But the containing harmonica fieldset has to be showed/opened with $('myForm').accordion('activate', index); as well, in order to show the field to the user. So how can I open the appropriate accordion fieldset after the form has been tried to submit? Is there a way to do it in a callback function after $('myForm').validate();

  • CodeMirror Dynamic Syntax Validation

    Been trying to decide between using CodeMirror or Ace editor. I've been leaning towards CodeMirror, however there's one feature of Ace that I really like and that is how it does syntax validation. So as I'm typing there can appear a warning or error icon in the left gutter area beside the line number, and when I hover over it it gives me a little description. Is there any way to get this functionality in CodeMirror? Specifically, I'm using the css mode for CodeMirror. It'd also be nice to be able to add in my own custom validation. Thanks.

  • Using different validation rules based on user input.

    I have a simple form: a combobox and a textbox. My combobox has 2 values: A and B. When value A is selected I want textbox to use a validation rule. When value B is selected there should be no validation rules applied to the textbox. I've read an article that has a solution and I'm trying to use it, but had no luck so far, and I think there might be a more elegant solution. Has anyone done anything like this before? Any ideas are highly appreciated.

  • Synchronizing local and remote cache in distributed caching

    With a distributed cache, a subset of the cache is kept locally while the rest is held remotely. In a get operation, if the entry is not available locally, the remote cache will be used and and the entry is added to local cache. In a put operation, both the local cache and remote cache are updated. Other nodes in the cluster also need to be notified to invalidate their local cache as well. What's a simplest way to achieve this if you implemented it yourself, assuming that nodes are not aware of each other. Edit My current implementation goes like this: Each cache entry contains a time stamp. Put operation will update local cache and remote cache Get operation will try local cache then remote cache A background thread on each node will check remote cache periodically for each entry in local cache. If the timestamp on remote is newer overwrite the local. If entry is not found in remote, delete it from local.

    When facing the problem of validating a property in a JSF2 application there are two main approaches. Defining the validation on the ManagedBean using an Annotation @ManagedBean public class MyBean { @Size(max=8) private String s; // Getters setters and other stuff. } or declaring it on the jsf page: <h:inputText value="#{myBean.s}"> <f:validateLength maximum="8"/> </h:inputText> It happens that I can't decide for none of them. The first one is nice because it removes some code from the jsf pages (which is always good since those pages are not eye friendly by definition) but makes harder to see 'at a glance' what's going on with the page when checking the jsf file. Which one do you think is clearer? Nicer? Better?

  • jQuery validation plugin: valid() does not work with remote validation ?

    I got started by following this awesome tutorial, but wanted to do the validation on on keyup and place my errors somewhere else. The remote validation shows its own error message at the appropriate times, making me think I had it working. But if I ask specifically if a field with remote validation is valid, it says no, actually, its not. In application.js I have this... $("#new_user").validate({ rules: { "user[login]": {required: true, minlength: 3, remote: "/live_validations/check_login"}, }, messages: { "user[login]": {required: " ", minlength: " ", remote: " "}, } }); $("#user_login").keyup(function(){ if($(this).valid()){ $(this).siblings(".feedback").html("0"); }else{ $(this).siblings(".feedback").html("1"); } }) And then this in the rails app... def check_login @user = User.find_by_login(params[:user][:login]) respond_to do |format| format.json { render :json => @user ? "false" : "true" } end end I think that my problem might have everything to do with this ticket over at jQuery, and tried to implement that code, but, being new to jQuery, it's all a bit over my head. When I say bit, I mean way way. Any ideas to fix it, or a new way to look at it, would be a big help.

  • Remote Desktop event ID 20499. No noticeable issues

    I get a warning event with ID 20499 for TerminalServices-RemoteConnectionManager.The error is: Remote Desktop Services has taken too long to load the user configuration from server \server.domain.home for user administrator. Yet, I don't see any issues (I'm guessing because that user is on the machine local). Why am I getting this warning? I'm on Windows Server 2012 R2 connecting from a Windows 8.1.

    I have remote email access from an iPhone or my Android phone, but I cannot setup a Windows Email Client to check my email using the exact same information I provided in my phones. The email system is an Exchange 2003 and I hate using the cheap Outlook Web App that it has. User: [email protected] Password: 1234 Server: mail.domain.com And that works for they phones. So why can't I get it to work on my email client? Maybe a DNS problem?

    Howdy, I just recently installed hyper-v server 2008 r2 on a dedicated server i have, but i'm having trouble enabling remote management. Running the HVRemote - http://code.msdn.microsoft.com/HVRemote - tool seems to have yielded some positive results, and all tests on the server pass (firewall, permissions, etc), but client-side things are not working. I'm stuck at this step : 5: - Simple query to root\cimv2 WMI namespace FAIL - Simple query failed Cannot perform simple query against root\cimv2 Anyone could help me figure this out? I'm almost giving up and installing XenServer... Thanks

This works fine in windows xp but unable to connect using win 7. Also after establishing a vpn I lost my internet access. Any idea.

  • Total newb having SSH tunnel and remote MySQL access problems

    I don't often work with linux or need to SSH tunnel into remote MySQL databases, so pardon my ignorance. I'm using Windows 7 and am needing to connect to a remote MySQL instance on a Linux server. For months I had been using the HeidiSQL client application successfully. Today two things happened: the DB moved to a new server and I updated HeidiSQL, now I cannot log in to the MySQL server, when attempting I get this message from Heidi: SQL Error (2003) in statement #0: Can't connect to MySQL server on 'localhost' (10061) If I use Putty, I can connect to the server and get MySQL access through command line, including fetching data from the DB. I assume this means my credentials and address are correct, but do not understand why putting those same details into HeidiSQL's SSH tunnel info won't work. I also downloaded the MySQL Workbench and attempted to set up a connection through that client and got this message: Cannot Connect to Database Server Your connection attempt failed for user 'myusername' from your host to server at localhost:3306: Lost connection to MySQL server at 'reading initial communication packet', system error: 0 Please: 1 Check that mysql is running on server localhost 2 Check that mysql is running on port 3306 (note: 3306 is the default, but this can be changed) 3 Check the myusername has rights to connect to localhost from your address (mysql rights define what clients can connect to the server and from which machines) 4 Make sure you are both providing a password if needed and using the correct password for localhost connecting from the host address you're connecting from From Googling around I see that it could be related to the MySQL bind-address, but I am a third party sub-contractor with no access to the MySQL settings of this box and the system admin is assuring me that I'm an idiot and need to figure it out on my end. This is completely possible but I don't know what else to try. Edit 1 - The client settings I am using In Heidi and MySQL Workbench I am using the following: SSH host + port: theHostnameOfTheRemoteServer.com:22 {this is the same host I can Putty to} SSH Username: mySSHusername {the same user name I use for my Putty connection} SSH Password: mySSHpassword {the same password for the Putty connection} Local port: 3307 {this is on the SSH settings tab and was defaulted to 3307 by Heidi, changing it to 3306 gives me a different error: SQL Error (1045) in statement #0: Access denied for user 'mySQLusername'@'localhost' (using password: YES)"} MySQL host: theHostnameOfTheRemoteServer.com {consensus seems to be I should use 'localhost' here} MySQL User: mySQLusername {which I can connect with once in with Putty} MySQL Password: mySQLpassword {which works once in with Putty} Port: 3306

  • SMTP Remote Queue on Exchange 2003

    We are currently using Windows Server 2003 R2 with Exchange 2003 and SolarWinds Exchange Monitor to monitor. A couple of weeks ago the SMTP remote queue began to build up and it got to about 150 messages in the queue when it began to go down. For the last couple of days the queue has been building up and it has now reached 450 messages. Is there anyway that i can clear this and is it anything that I need to worry about? Thanks guys!

When managing Windows systems we use RDP to connect remotely, so how would I do the same for my Debian server? Note: I am not an linux power user.     I have an issue when connecting to remote machines using the following: Set objWMIService = objSWbemLocator.ConnectServer _ (sIP, "root\CIMV2", strUser, strPassword, "MS_409", "ntlmdomain:" + sDomain, 128) the problem is that some machines are not timing out and the process hangs.     I have a Windows 7 desktop for gaming, a big bulky tower with a nice graphics card. I'd like to sit out on my porch rather than inside while the weather is nice and play games. I have a high end Macbook Pro. What are my options? I figure either remote desktop over the LAN on the Macbook or maybe wireless video, keyboard and mouse. Something so I don't have to physically move the PC. The sort of games range from things like Skyrim to SW:TOR to Torchlight 2. What are my options? They have to do a better than running Boot Camp on the Macbook (MacBookPro8,1 i7 2.7 Ghz but Intel Graphics 3000). I realize there's a lot of issues involved in running a game over a remote desktop with a decent frame rate, I'm interested in a practical answer with real experience behind them. Ideally something that works on a OS X so I don't have to reboot into Windows.

    Quick question: I have a situation where I need to let multiple people on different PCs log into one server 2008 machine as administrator simultaneously over remote desktop. I have the CALs for it, it's just not set up correctly. When one user tries to log in, it boots the other out. What I need is to present to them a different session, just each as logged in as admin.
