  • Why can't I create an Alias Resource Record Set for an EC2 instance

    I have been working with AWS for over a year, setting up EC2 instances, domains, ELBs, etc. When I want to assign a subdomain to an EC2 instance, I have to create an elastic IP (that I pay for), then assign a CNAME record to that elastic IP. When I want to assign a subdomain to an ELB (load balancer) instance, I just create an alias resource record set to the ELB. I've read over the docs and don't understand why AWS doesn't support aliasing to instances. Am I missing a key concept here? Wouldn't it be simpler to just alias EC2 instances and skip the whole elastic IP bit?

  • Viewpoint gem and Exchange resource account

    Hi- I'm trying my hand at using the Viewpoint gem (by zenchild @ github) as the base for a meeting scheduling system. It's great at reading calendar information from regular Exchange 2007 accounts, but I got stuck trying to change the SOAP request header to allow me to read resource accounts as a delegate. I came across http://blogs.msdn.com/b/mstehle/archive/2009/06/16/exchange-api-team-blog-exchange-impersonation-vs-delegate-access.aspx and it seems to be what I need, and I have the feeling I'm on the edge of getting it working, but I'm just not quite there yet as a ruby programmer. Any help would be appreciated... Thanks!

    I have installed Cisco vpn client version 5.0.07.0290 on Vista Business SP2. I am able to successfully connnect to the vpn. But after connecting I am not able to access any resource in the vpn (like database, other computers in the network etc.). I have tried the following without any success : Older versions of the client Other vpn clients like Shrewsoft : same issue as the cisco vpn client Disabled Internet Connection Sharing service Installed the client in the root administrator account Run the installer as administrator Run the vpngui and ipsecdialer in XP compatibility mode and as administrator I am not sure how to troubleshoot this issue. Can somebody please help me in troubleshooting this issue? P.S : I've Zonealarm firewall, can that be an issue?

  • SCCM for mobile device management returns 404 on /devicemgmt/server.resource

    We have a new Windows Server 2008 R2 machine onto which we have installed SCCM SP2 followed by the R2 package. We have enabled a mobile device management point and enabled distribution points to support mobile devices as per http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb680634.aspx We have also installed the Mobile Device Management Client on to a Windows Mobile 6.1 device. The client on the device fails to connect to the server. Our investigation so far has led us to the URL /devicemgmt/server.resource. However, looking in IIS on the server shows no such URL (in fact nothing apart from the aspnet_client directory) and visiting the URL with a browser returns 404. WebDav is enabled on the Default Web Site in IIS. BITS is installed on the server. Can anyone confirm whether enabling mobile device management will add visible directories to IIS and if so why it might be failing in our case?

    Sounds like easy task to some but such a difficult task for me to do... The main requirement for this task is to setup something in offices located on different locations, so (1st question) users are able to log on to the domain without VPN when they are in one of the offices. Additionally, (2nd question)how they can log on to the domain server when they are on the road like in a starbuck, what do they have to do to connect to domain after VPN connection are successful. also it's my understanding that, we can't share resource from computers on different network segments, (3rd question)what is the best solution to bridge/combine two network segments(two office in different locations) so computers of different location can see each other.   • Disk Utility Restore causes "Could not validate resource - Invalid Argument"

    I have a problem with Disk Utility on Mac OS X 10.6. I have an image of Windows that I would like to use as a bootable volume on a pen drive or external hard drive. The thing is: When I try to restore the volume from the image I get an error: "Restore Failure: Could not validate resource - Invalid Argument" I read some information about that error on the Internet. I converted the image into .iso (Mac OS Extended/ISO (Joliet) Hybrid Image) format and then got this error: "Restore Failure: Could not find any scan information. The source image needs to be imagescanned before it can be restored." When I try to scan the image for Restore, I get the first message. I really read a lot of information about this topic on the Internet, but I haven't found the solution. I tried both ISO and DMG formats; I don't know which is best.

  • Windows can't communicate with the device or resource (primary DNS server)

    I am using Windows 7 Home Premium and am connecting to the Internet through Homeplug. When I connect and enable the LAN the status shows that I'm connected (the IPv4 shows connected), but after like 20 seconds it changes to No Internet connection. Even when it says I'm connected I can't connect to the Internet. My browser (Firefox) shows Server Not Found. When I run the troubleshooter it says "Windows can't communicate with the device or resource (primary DNS server)." What could be the problem, and how do I fix it?

    Hi I am trying to compare 2 Dictionary objects for equality in MbUnit 3.1 like so Assert.AreEqual<FieldList>(expectedOutputFieldList, actualOutputFieldList); Where FieldList is = Dictionary<string, object> However this throws up the following "error": Both values look the same when formatted but they are distinct instances. Is there any method for comparing object data rather than instances? Thanks in advance...

  • Parsing string logic issue c#

    This is a follow on from this question My program is taking in a string that is comprised of two parts: a distance value and an id number respectively. I've split these up and stored them in local variables inside my program. All of the id numbers are stored in a dictionary and are used check the incoming distance value. Though I should note that each string that gets sent into my program from the device is passed along on a single string. The next time my program receives that a signal from a device, it overrides the previous data that was there before. Should the id key coming into my program match one inside my dictionary, then a variable held next to my dictionaries key, should be updated. However, when I run my program, I don't get 6 different values, I only get the same value and they all update at the same time.     I have a Dictionary which is binded to a combobox. I have used dictionary to provide spaces in enum. public enum Option {Enter_Value, Select_Value}; Dictionary<Option,string> Options; <ComboBox x:Name="optionComboBox" SelectionChanged="optionComboBox_SelectionChanged" SelectedValuePath="Key" DisplayMemberPath="Value" SelectedItem="{Binding Path = SelectedOption}" ItemsSource="{Binding Path = Options}" /> This works fine. My queries: 1. I am not able to set the initial value to a combo box. In above XAML snippet the line SelectedItem="{Binding Path = SelectedOption}" is not working. I have declared SelectOption in my viewmodel. This is of type string and I have intialized this string value in my view model as below: SelectedOption = Options[Options.Enter_Value].ToString(); 2. I want if user selects Options.Enter_Value from the combo box , the combo box becomes editable and user can enter the numeric value in it. If user selects the second option Options.Select_Value then a dialog is poped up which allows user to select the predifined values. And the combo box becomes read only and shows the selected value. Please Help!!

    Hi, It should be possible to add a code behind file for a resource dictionary in Silverlight, but I keep getting the same error, thrown from the InitializeComponent method of my App.xaml constructor: XamlParseException: AG_E_PARSER_BAD_TYPE. The resource dictionary xaml file looks like this: <ResourceDictionary xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml/presentation" xmlns:x="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml" x:Class="Celerior.Annapurna.SL.ProvisiorResourceDictionary" x:ClassModifier="public"> ... </ResourceDictionary> If I remove the x:Class attribute everything works fine again (of course, I double-checked the class name and it's correct). My App.xaml file isn't really exciting and just contains a reference to the resource dictionary: <Application xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml/presentation" xmlns:x="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml" x:Class="Celerior.Annapurna.SL.App"> <Application.Resources> <ResourceDictionary> <ResourceDictionary.MergedDictionaries> <ResourceDictionary Source="ProvisiorResourceDictionary.xaml"/> </ResourceDictionary.MergedDictionaries> </ResourceDictionary> </Application.Resources> </Application> What am I doing wrong?     Hi, I've just stumbled upon this: within a Unity container, I want to register IDictionary<TK, TV>; assume that it's IDictionary<string, int> _unityContainer = new UnityContainer() .RegisterType<IDictionary<string, int>, Dictionary<string, int>>(); but if I try var d = _unityContainer.Resolve<IDictionary<string, int>>(); it fails to resolve... I get... Microsoft.Practices.Unity.ResolutionFailedException: Microsoft.Practices.Unity.ResolutionFailedException: Resolution of the dependency failed, type = "System.Collections.Generic.IDictionary`2[System.String,System.Int32]", name = "(none)". Exception occurred while: while resolving. Exception is: InvalidOperationException - The type Dictionary`2 has multiple constructors of length 2. Unable to disambiguate. At the time of the exception, the container was: Resolving System.Collections.Generic.Dictionary2[System.String,System.Int32],(none) (mapped from System.Collections.Generic.IDictionary2[System.String,System.Int32], (none)) --- System.InvalidOperationException: The type Dictionary`2 has multiple constructors of length 2. Unable to disambiguate.. So it looks like it has found the Type to resolve (being Dictionary<string, int>) but failed to new it up... How come unity can't resolve this type? If I type IDictionary<string, int> d = new Dictionary<string, int>() that works... any ideas? thanks!

  • Python: Created nested dictionary from list of paths

    I have a list of tuples the looks similar to this (simplified here, there are over 14,000 of these tuples with more complicated paths than Obj.part) [ (Obj1.part1, {<SPEC>}), (Obj1.partN, {<SPEC>}), (ObjK.partN, {<SPEC>}) ] Where Obj goes from 1 - 1000, part from 0 - 2000. These "keys" all have a dictionary of specs associated with them which act as a lookup reference for inspecting another binary file. The specs dict contains information such as the bit offset, bit size, and C type of the data pointed to by the path ObjK.partN. For example: Obj4.part500 might have this spec, {'size':32, 'offset':128, 'type':'int'} which would let me know that to access Obj4.part500 in the binary file I must unpack 32 bits from offset 128. So, now I want to take my list of strings and create a nested dictionary which in the simplified case will look like this data = { 'Obj1' : {'part1':{spec}, 'partN':{spec} }, 'ObjK' : {'part1':{spec}, 'partN':{spec} } } To do this I am currently doing two things, 1. I am using a dotdict class to be able to use dot notation for dictionary get / set. That class looks like this: class dotdict(dict): def __getattr__(self, attr): return self.get(attr, None) __setattr__ = dict.__setitem__ __delattr__ = dict.__delitem__ The method for creating the nested "dotdict"s looks like this: def addPath(self, spec, parts, base): if len(parts) > 1: item = base.setdefault(parts[0], dotdict()) self.addPath(spec, parts[1:], item) else: item = base.setdefault(parts[0], spec) return base Then I just do something like: for path, spec in paths: self.lookup = dotdict() self.addPath(spec, path.split("."), self.lookup) So, in the end self.lookup.Obj4.part500 points to the spec. Is there a better (more pythonic) way to do this?

  • Way to store a large dictionary with low memory footprint + fast lookups (on Android)

    I'm developing an android word game app that needs a large (~250,000 word dictionary) available. I need: reasonably fast look ups e.g. constant time preferable, need to do maybe 200 lookups a second on occasion to solve a word puzzle and maybe 20 lookups within 0.2 second more often to check words the user just spelled. EDIT: Lookups are typically asking "Is in the dictionary?". I'd like to support up to two wildcards in the word as well, but this is easy enough by just generating all possible letters the wildcards could have been and checking the generated words (i.e. 26 * 26 lookups for a word with two wildcards). as it's a mobile app, using as little memory as possible and requiring only a small initial download for the dictionary data is top priority. My first naive attempts used Java's HashMap class, which caused an out of memory exception. I've looked into using the SQL lite databases available on android, but this seems like overkill. What's a good way to do what I need?

Within the ComboBox control, I reference the style like so: Style="{DynamicResource MyComboBoxStyle}" This works ok. I want to be able to add some triggers to some of the ComboBox controls. What is a good way to use the style referenced as a dynamic resource yet still be able to add triggers to some of the ComboBox controls?

  • How to use linked resource with eclipse CDT ?

    I found it very difficult to configure linked resource in Eclipse CDT. Folder "wspolne" is located somewhere in the system, I'd like to use .cpp .h files from it in my current project, but avoid copying it. From what i read about Linked Resources is a solution, but I can't build a projct :/ I followed instuctions described here with out any result: stackoverflow.com/questions/1907275/in-eclipse-cdt-shared-resource-folder-that-is-built-differently-for-the-project.
