• Automatically copy files without overwriting, but creating numbered ones instead

  I need to copy files at a regular interval, eg once an hour so I tried setting up an xcopy batch saying it should copy the files it needs to copy to another folder. Now when it copies, it overwrites the files which is not what it is supposed to do. When a file is copied, it should create a new file instead, named something like File.txt, File-COPY1.txt, File-COPY2.txt or something like that. Any way to do that? Thanks in advance.

  Hello, I have a harddrive I need to backup. In the harddrive is of course things like Documents and Settings which is set to not allow other people to see inside someone's personal folders. I am an administrator though and I can not figure out how to mark these files so that I am permitted to access them and copy them. IWhen I double click on My Documents then it pops up saying You must have permission to access this and gives me an option like ok or cancel. I click ok and then it says you do not have permission to access these files I'm an administrator on the system so I don't understand why Vista is locking me out. How can I setup vista so that it will let me copy every file, even ones I don't have permission to?

• How to change subversion working copy UUID?

  I've recently updated Subversion repositories from an old 1.2.3 version to 1.6.0 via svnadmin dump/load. The old repositories all used the same UUID (repositories were created using by copying a template repository). I've changed the UUID on a couple of the new repositories via svnadmin setuuid to be unique. I can't just relocate my existing working copies of those repositories because the UUIDs are different. I know about exporting the working copy and checking out from the new repository, but I was wondering whether there was a way to just change the UUID of the working copy in-place, like what svnadmin setuuid does for repositories.

  I'm on a dedicated server using CentOS, and on this server I have 5000+ directories in one main directory. In the main directory I have an index.php. I would like to copy this index.php into all 5000+ directories, but the only way I know how is doing it manually. Is there a way through the command line that I can enter something like cp and make it work from the directory? I'd copy it all the way down through all the directories and there sub directories within this main directory I am starting out in.

I can copy them across using document.content.text but they come out as text (should've figured this i guess). I think i've got them selected by: Dim tDocFields As Microsoft.Office.Interop.Word.Fields tDocFields = tDocument.Content.Fields I'm then activating the doc i want to copy into and i think i need to then copy into that doc using the related word app. vDocument.Activate() vWord.Selection. ??? Insert() ??? Any pointers would be greatly appreciated... Am i on the right lines even?

  I tried to find out how to move my working copy. I know SVN move can be used to move files and folders inside your working copy but what about the working copy itself? I want to move it because I created a branch in a folder location that's different from my branch and had updated therefore all my .NET project references. So when I go to merge back to the mainline trunk I get a bunch of tree conflicts.

  We're running the latest versions of VMWare Player and Workstation for Windows. The following behavior is identical across both products. Problem: We open a CMD prompt in our guest OS (XP, Vista, Windows 7) and copy files from our host OS using the standard CMD shell copy command: copy z:\C$\testfiles The copy completes successfully, but from that point forward, all the files that were copied to our guest OS are now LOCKED on our host OS. This does not happen if we use Windows Explorer to copy files - it only happens when files are copied via the CMD shell. As mentioned at the start of this question, this behavior is reproducible in both VMWare Player and VMWare Workstation across multiple machines and multiple guest OS's. I've googled for a workaround, but without success. Any ideas appreciated. Malcolm

Will it work via a batch file when no user is logged in? 2) Is there anything I should know about enabling the WebClient service on my server? Previously it was disabled, which I assume is default.

I'm always wary of using clone() and it doesn't seem to have been overridden here, so I'm just doing the copy field by field. Ideally, there'd be a copy constructor, which I could use like so: GregorianCalendar newCalendar = new GregorianCalendar(oldCalendar); Unfortunately I can't find any such functionality in the API and am stuck trying to figure out which fields I need to get an exact copy.   I need some help with priviligies in centos I have a file in home/admin/public_html/generate.php that I want to do some file copy with using php copy function When I set the file to chown admin:admin generate.php I can access the file but I cannot execute the php copy command because I don't have the proper rights. When I set the file to root:root generate.php I cant access the file beacuse its under admin user folder home/admin/public_html/generate.php how do I solve please, thankful for any help. Bottom line is that I want my generate.php which is owned by admin:admin to be able to copy files from sources outside its home dir and to other home dirs I am using CENTOS

  I use Windows at work and a Mac at home. One of the biggest issues is the difference between the copy paste shortcuts on Windows vs the Mac i.e. Ctrl + C & Ctrl + V on Windows and on the Mac its Command + C and Command + V. Invariably its hard because of learnt motor skills where my hand always shapes itself to the Windows Ctrl + C configuration(I have been using Windows longer) I would like to remap the Copy and Paste to the Fn + C and Fn + V on the Mac. Why? Because the Fn key is actually the key that corresponds to where the Ctrl key is on Windows keyboards and since its the last edge key its easy to find. I have tried Double Command but it doesn't seem to have an option of turning Fn to the Command key.

  I'm thinking of a situation where I would have something that creates a copy of a directory, tweaks a few files, and then does some processing on the result. This wold be done fairly often, maybe a few dozen times a day. (The exact use case is testing patch submissions; dupe the code, patch it, build/test/report/etc.) What I'm looking for could be done by creating a new directory structure and populating it with hard links from the origonal. However this only works if all the tools you use delete and recreate files rather than edit them in place. Is there a way to have the file system do copy-on-write for a file? Note: I'm aware that many FSs use COW at a block level (all updates are done via writes to new blocks) but this is not what I want.

All element s there snap to guides, which is handy when I make a selection to copy an element of design to a PNG file: guides make my selection precise. One button there has two states: normal and hover. Both states contains of several layers. So I am trying to copy both states as PNG files in order to make a nice button in html. The problem is that both states have shadow effects, which go beyond the layers' edges, i.e. when I try to select a button my selection (snapped to guides) does not include an outer part of the shadow.
