  • BlackBerry - KeyListener with global scope

    - by Abs
Hello all, I am new to BlackBerry App development. I want to be able to listen for keypress events whenever the BlackBerry (8900 in my case) is on and on all screens is this possible? If so, it would be great for someone to direct me in the right direction. I am already having a look at Interface KeyListener. import net.rim.device.api.system.*; Thanks all

  • MSSQL2008: DTC Transaction - Internal abort

    - by Teutales
Hi all, I write a small own replication - a trigger which fires an DTC INSERT to another server (one reason for my own "replication": while trigger is running it calculates some data, another: it works from an express version to an express version). When I do the initial insert from the same Host with the windows authentification it works fine. But there is a webserver on another host, which uses the sqlserver login (for testing sa). When this Host do the initial insert I get a Internal abort after the entlisting and creating phase in the DTCTransaction EventClass (Profiler). The magic is: When I first fire it from the same Host with the windows authentification, I can fire it from the webserver and it works fine. But I just have to wait some minutes and it won't work. Where is my error in reasoning... Thanks! Greetz Teutales Here is my initial server script: EXEC master.dbo.sp_addlinkedserver @server = @Servername, @srvproduct=N'SQL Server' EXEC master.dbo.sp_addlinkedsrvlogin @rmtsrvname = @Servername, @locallogin = NULL , @useself = N'False', @rmtuser = @Serverlogin, @rmtpassword = @Serverpwd

  • Initiate User Scope Class at Session Start

    - by James Santiago
I want to initiate a class for each user at the start of the user's session so that a single class can be used throughout the user's session. I checked out this post but I'm not sure where I should be placing this Sessionhandler class. Inside global.asax? How do I go about accomplishing this?

  • Scope of Connection Object for a Website using Connection Pooling (Local or Instance)

    - by Danny
    For a web application with connection polling enabled, is it better to work with a locally scoped connection object or instance scoped connection object. I know there is probably not a big performance improvement between the two (because of the pooling) but would you say that one follows a better pattern than the other. Thanks ;) public class MyServlet extends HttpServlet { DataSource ds; public void init() throws ServletException { ds = (DataSource) getServletContext().getAttribute("DBCPool"); } protected void doGet(HttpServletRequest arg0, HttpServletResponse arg1) throws ServletException, IOException { SomeWork("SELECT * FROM A"); SomeWork("SELECT * FROM B"); } void SomeWork(String sql) { Connection conn = null; try { conn = ds.getConnection(); // execute some sql ..... } finally { if(conn != null) { conn.close(); // return to pool } } } } Or public class MyServlet extends HttpServlet { DataSource ds; Connection conn;* public void init() throws ServletException { ds = (DataSource) getServletContext().getAttribute("DBCPool"); } protected void doGet(HttpServletRequest arg0, HttpServletResponse arg1) throws ServletException, IOException { try { conn = ds.getConnection(); SomeWork("SELECT * FROM A"); SomeWork("SELECT * FROM B"); } finally { if(conn != null) { conn.close(); // return to pool } } } void SomeWork(String sql) { // execute some sql ..... } }

  • transaction log shipping sql server 2005 to 2008

    - by Andrew Jahn
I have a reporting setup with SSRS on our sql server 2005 database. Because sql server 2008 is not supported by the main program which populates our database we are stuck with 2005 on our prod database. Unfortunately when I run our weekly check reports the web interface constantly times out because the server cant do the conversion to PDF. I've read that sql server 2008's SSRS is ALOT better with memory management. I was wondering if I can do some kind transact log shipping subscription publication from 2005 to 2008? Am I chasing a dream here.

  • What is the scope of xsl apply-imports?

    - by calavera.info
My original idea about apply-imports was that if there are two templates which matches the same node, then using apply-imports in a template with higher priority runs the template with the lower priority. But I recently find out that it's important how are imports organized. Two cases interests me particularly. Will apply imports work on a template which is imported in imported file (nested import)? How about a "sibling import" (master file imports two files with templates matching the same nodes) It seems to me that this is not clearly described in specification. Could someone provide authoritative guidelines? EDIT: I can try those cases on my own, but there is always a danger that it will be implementation specific behavior.

  • C stack/scope, variable's lifetime after functions ends

    - by Ranking Stackingblocks
void someFunc() { int stackInt = 4; someOtherFunc(&stackInt); } Is it the case that stackInt's address space could be reallocated after someFunc ends, making it unsafe to assume that the value passed to someOtherFunc represents the stackInt variable with value 4 that was passed to it? In other words, should I avoid passing stack variables around by address and expecting them to still be alive after the function they were initialised in has ended?

  • Javascript Array Scope - newbie here

    - by Gianluca
So, I am learning Javascript while playing white Google Calendar APIs and I just can't figure how this piece of code is working this way: var entriesResult = []; var data = new Date(2010,3,22,17,0,0); var callback = function(result) { var entries = result.feed.getEntries(); if (entries.length != 0) { entriesResult = eventsManager(entries, 0, data); window.alert("inner entriesResult " + entriesResult.length); } } this.service.getEventsFeed(this.query, callback, handleGDError); window.alert("outer entriesResult " + entriesResult.length); eventsManager() is a function that returns an array of Objects. getEventsFeed() it's an API function: it queries the service and pass a "feed root" (a feed with selected items) to the callback function. Why the first alert (inner..) outputs a valid entriesResult.length while the second one (outer..) always outputs a 0? I tought javascript arrays are always passed by reference, what's wrong whit my code? Thank you :)

  • TWiki: Restricting users scope of editing the pages.

    - by abhishekgupta92
I am making a twiki website and I am stuck with a problem. The users have access to write the files. So, I want to include Report Abuse option so that in case of vandalism of someone the thing can be corrected as soon as possible. Also, I am facing one more problem that someone told me that while editing the code the person can change the read/write permissions for the other users. And obviously, that wouldn't be something that I am expecting from Twiki. C'mon there must be some way of moderation in twiki to ensure thatthere is no undesirable content.

  • jQuery - ajax page load - php scope

    - by Develman
I am using jquery.tabs() and want to load the pages of the tabs with ajax. I am using MVC pattern with PHP and used a frontcontroller / pagecontroller pattern. The templating is done by PHP, e.g.: <?php if($this->userLoggedIn == TRUE): ?> <span>Herzlich Willkommen <?php echo $this->userName; ?>! [<a href="logout">Ausloggen</a>] </span> <?php endif; ?> The variables ($this-userName) are injected by the pagecontroller class. The problem is, that when I load a page via ajax, the variables are not known. Following PHP error is coming up: Fatal error: Using $this when not in object context.... Any idea, how to use / load the variables and using it in the template files.

  • global scope of variable

The following shell scrip will check the disk space and change the variable "diskfull" to 1 if the usage is more than 10% The last echo always shows 0 I tried the global diskfull=1 in the if clause but it did not work. How do I change the variable to 1 if the disk consumed is more than 10% #!/bin/sh diskfull=0 ALERT=10 df -HP | grep -vE '^Filesystem|tmpfs|cdrom' | awk '{ print $5 " " $1 }' | while read output; do #echo $output usep=$(echo $output | awk '{ print $1}' | cut -d'%' -f1 ) partition=$(echo $output | awk '{ print $2 }' ) if [ $usep -ge $ALERT ]; then diskfull=1 exit fi done echo $diskfull

  • Next, Previous Records Using Named Scope

    - by keruilin
I have a model for which I want to retrieve the next record(s) and previous record(s). I want to do this via a named_scope on the model, and also pass in as an argument the X number of next/previous records to return. For example, let's say I have 5 records: Record1 Record2 Record3 Record4 Record5 I want to be able to call Model.previous or Model.previous(1) to return Record2. Similarly, I want to be able to call Model.next or Model.next(1) to return Record4. As another example I want to be able to call Model.previous(2) to return Record3. I think you get the idea. How can I accomplish this?

  • ASP.NET variable scope

    - by c11ada
hey all, im really new to ASP.Net and still havnt got my head round most of the concepts, im really having problems with variable, when creating a desktop application, any variable created in code for example int n = 10; this variable will be there until the program is running right. but in asp iv created variables which are supposed to last until the user gets of that page, so for example say i have a page which takes the users value ( call this variable n say the user type in 10) and every time the user presses the next button the code add 10 to this value. so the first time the user presses the next button n= n + 10; what i have found is no matter how many times i press the next button n will always equal 20, because the previous value is not saved !! these values are populated the first time the user enters that page, once the user clicks the next button the content of these values disappear! how can stop this from happening ?? hope this makes sense !! thanks

  • Rails transaction: save data in multiple models.

    - by smotchkkiss
my models class Auction belongs_to :item belongs_to :user, :foreign_key => :current_winner_id has_many :auction_bids end class User has_many :auction_bids end class AuctionBid belongs_to :user end current usage An item is displayed on the page, the user enters an amount and clicks bid. Controller code might look something like this: class MyController def bid @ab = AuctionBid.new(params[:auction_bid]) @ab.user = current_user if @ab.save render :json => {:response => 'YAY!'} else render :json => {:response => 'FAIL!'} end end end desired functionality This works great so far! However, I need to ensure a couple other things happen. @ab.auction.bid_count needs to be incremented by one. @ab.user.bid_count needs to be incremented by one @ab.auction.current_winner_id needs to be set to @ab.user_id That is, the User and the Auction associated with the AuctionBid need values updated as well in order for the AuctionBid#save to return true.

  • Need an end of lexical scope action which can die normally

    - by Schwern
I need the ability to add actions to the end of a lexical block where the action might die. And I need the exception to be thrown normally and be able to be caught normally. Unfortunately, Perl special cases exceptions during DESTROY both by adding "(in cleanup)" to the message and making them untrappable. For example: { package Guard; use strict; use warnings; sub new { my $class = shift; my $code = shift; return bless $code, $class; } sub DESTROY { my $self = shift; $self->(); } } use Test::More tests => 2; my $guard_triggered = 0; ok !eval { my $guard = Guard->new( #line 24 sub { $guard_triggered++; die "En guarde!" } ); 1; }, "the guard died"; is $@, "En guarde! at $@ line 24\n", "with the right error message"; is $guard_triggered, 1, "the guard worked"; I want that to pass. Currently the exception is totally swallowed by the eval. This is for Test::Builder2, so I cannot use anything but pure Perl. The underlying issue is I have code like this: { $self->setup; $user_code->(); $self->cleanup; } That cleanup must happen even if the $user_code dies, else $self gets into a weird state. So I did this: { $self->setup; my $guard = Guard->new(sub { $self->cleanup }); $user_code->(); } The complexity comes because the cleanup runs arbitrary user code and it is a use case where that code will die. I expect that exception to be trappable and unaltered by the guard. I'm avoiding wrapping everything in eval blocks because of the way that alters the stack.

  • FMDB transaction

    - by user142764
Hi ! I use FMDB to wrap SQLite in my app. I haven't found any docs about the use of methods begin, beginUpdates, commit, finalize, etc. I face some problems in my apps which i think are caused by the way i use transactions. Here is what i tried : [FMDB beginUpdates] - My insert statement - [FMDB commit] [FMDB finalize] it crashes with this log : Terminating app due to uncaught exception 'NSInvalidArgumentException', reason: '*** -[FMDatabase<0xd705a0 finalize]: called when collecting not enabled' Could you please give me an example of how you are using transactions, or point me to a doc ? Thanks in advance, Vincent.

  • c# scope/typing/assignment question

    - by Shannow
Hi there another quick question. I would like to create a variable object so that depending on the value of something, it gets cast as needed. e.g. var rule; switch (seqRuleObj.RuleType) { case SeqRuleObj.type.Pre : rule = new preConditionRuleType(); rule = (preConditionRuleType)seqRuleObj.Rule; break; case SeqRuleObj.type.Post : rule = new postConditionRuleType(); rule = (postConditionRuleType)seqRuleObj.Rule; break; case SeqRuleObj.type.Exit : rule = new exitConditionRuleType(); rule = (exitConditionRuleType)seqRuleObj.Rule; break; default : break; } String result; foreach (sequencingRuleTypeRuleConditionsRuleCondition cond in rule.ruleConditions.ruleCondition) { ....../ blah } so basically this will not work. c# will not allow me to create an new object in every case as the name is aleady defined. i can just paste the foreach loop into each case but that to me is such a waste, as the objects are exactly the same in all but name.

  • resource-ref at application scope in EJB 2.1 Project

    - by Mike Deck
Is it possible to define resource references that are applicable to all EJBs in an application? Currently I have an ejb-jar.xml that looks something like this: <ejb-jar> <enterprise-beans> <session id="foo"> <!-- snip --> <resource-ref> <res-ref-name>jdbc/myDatasource</res-ref-name> <res-type>javax.sql.DataSource</res-type> <res-auth>Container</res-auth> </resource-ref> </session> <session id="bar"> <!-- snip --> <resource-ref> <res-ref-name>jdbc/myDatasource</res-ref-name> <res-type>javax.sql.DataSource</res-type> <res-auth>Container</res-auth> </resource-ref> </session> </enterprise-beans> </ejb-jar> You'll notice that both EJBs have the same resource-ref defined for both of them. Is there a way to factor this duplication out within a J2EE 1.4 application? Ideally I should be able to define the jdbc/myDatasource resource once within the application and have anything running inside that container be able to access it by doing a JNDI lookup for "java:comp/env/jdbc/myDatasource". Is there any way to accomplish this?

  • C++ stack memory still valid?

    - by jbu
    Hi all, If I create an object on the stack and push it into a list, then the object loses scope (outside of the for loop in the example below) will the object still exist in the list? If the list still holds the object, is that data now invalid/possibly corrupt? Please let me know, and please explain the reasoning.. Thanks, jbu class SomeObject{ public: AnotherObject x; } //And then... void someMethod() { std::list<SomeObject> my_list; for(int i = 0; i < SOME_NUMBER; i++) { SomeObject tmp; my_list.push_back(tmp); //after the for loop iteration, tmp loses scope } my_list.front(); //at this point will my_list be full of valid SomeObjects or will the SomeObjects no longer be valid, even if they still point to dirty data }

  • Controlling the scope of a document.write call coming from a third party

    - by pingrey
Dear all, I'm writing a webpage that relies on an external javascript file (that I have no control of), which returns data by using document.write's. Is there any way to dynamically call the function without it overwriting the whole document? The most concise code I can think of is below: <html> <head> <script type="text/javascript"> function horriblefunction () { document.write("new text"); } </script> </head> <body> Starting Text... <div id="pleasewriteinme"></div> Other text... <button onclick="horriblefunction();">Click</button> </body> </html> The idea beginning that without altering "horriblefunction()" (as it's external) the new text could be placed in the div instead of overwriting the page. Is this possible or does the function have to be called inside the div as the page is created? Thanks for you help

  • which scope should a DAO typically have.

    - by Andreas Petersson
its out of question that a dao will not hold any state. however, for easiest access to the class, is it better to use prototype( = new every time) or singleton? simple object creation is cheap for dao's.. it typically only holds a sessionfactory, accessing the object from a list of singletons may be equally expensive. clarfication: the focus of this question is, if there is a common convention to the scoping of daos.

  • PHP anonymous functions scope question

    - by Dan
Hi, I'm trying to sort an array of objects by a common property, however I cannot get my $property parameter to register in the inner function (I can use it in the outer one OK). The way I read the documentation, it sounded like the parameter would be available, have I misunderstood something? Here is what I have: public static function sortObjectsByProperty($objects, $property) { function compare_object($a, $b) { $a = $a->$property; $b = $b->$property; if ($a->$property == $b->$property) { return 0; } return ($a->$property > $b->$property) ? +1 : -1; } usort($objects, 'compare_object'); return $objects; } Any advice appreciated. Thanks.

I have defined a textbox with x:Name="txtMyTextBox" inside UserControl called MyView. I've noticed that I can do the following: MyView myView = new MyView(); myView.txtMyTextBox.Text = "something"; Why txtMyTextBox is accessible that way? Is it public or internal field? Can I make it private?
