  • Visual Studio 2010 - Is it slow for anyone else?

    I've read a lot of stuff about VS2010 being much more performant than VS2008. When I've finally installed it, I found that it, in fact, is much slower (save for the Add References dialog). For instance, Silverlight projects take twice as long to load, the startup of the IDE itself is much slower, etc... Am I missing something here or is it like this for everyone?

    Hi recently I finished my WM6 Pro.6.1 application and happily learned that to put it into marketplace, it has to pass some tests. -Application Verifier -Microsoft Hopper Test Tool for Windows Mobile 6.0, 6.1, and 6.5 I use VS 2008 and windows mobile 6.1 and I couldnt run none of these tests, Hopeer tool has a FocusApp c++ application which I must build and run before testing, but its a VS 2005 project and I couldnt run it on VS 200..and without it I can't test anything. any ideas how can I build that for VS2008?

  • UpdateLayout throwing an ambigious exception

    the stack trace displays my method's name then "external code" then app_unhandledexception method, I'm developing within VS2008 SP1 for silverlight on firefox and windows 7(if that makes a difference). the weird thing is, the updatelayout method is called elsewhere and it generates no exception there, that said, if I put the method within a try-catch clause, it doesn't catch the exception, so if anyone has an idea, I'd appreciate it.

    Hello: I am working on VS2010 C# and I want to add a .dll reference compiled under VS2008; this .dll exists in 2 versions: Debug and Release. The .dll is not under .NET, COM or projects tabs, so I only have the "browser" tab to add the .dll to the reference. My question is: How can I indicate to VS to take the release .dll version when I compile in the release mode and to take the debug .dll version when I compile in the debug mode? Thanks.

  • Model binding broke after upgrade to Visual Studio 2010

    I have an ASP.net MVC 1.0 VS2008 application that I just opened in Visual Studio 2010. When I did this Studio upgraded the app from VS2008 to the VS2010 project. It also upgraded the MVC references from 1.0 to 2.0. In my app I have a class for a form post, I then use the class for the model binding in the Action method so it will auto populate the values. This worked fine in mvc 1.0 but now it does not work in 2.0 after the upgrade. Does does anyone know why? Or where I should look to resolve this? I've been messing around with VS2010 beta 2 (ultimate) on windows7 and already I have a nasty problem - when I try to run devenv it's only shows me very-nice-beta2 splash screen and cpu usage of devenv process run to sky. I have done this on windows (VS2008 C#, sockets), but here on linux (ubuntu 10.04) I have installed mono, and i can handle many things there, but it's speed is unacceptable for my 600MHz processor. so i decided to move on c++, but i'm new to c++ and i'm not familiar to many of it's headers.   • Are there any good version control programs for a Windows box that do not have to be installed?

    On my work machine, I do not have the permissions to install anything, and astoundingly, there are not any version control software packages set up. I am using VS2008, and was hoping to work around depending on SourceSafe. I've talked to the network admin, and all I could get was "We don't have any version control set up." Are there any good ways of going about this, or do I have to just bite the bullet?
