  • Set initial view with SkpWriter in Google Sketchup C++ SDK

    How do you set the initial view for the model in an SKP file created with the SkpWriter in Google Sketchup C++ SDK? There has been an example in an older version of the SDK. Part of the source is posted here. I'm trying to use: m_pDoc->GetModel()->SetCamera(cameraDefn); The problem is that I'm not able to create a valid atlast::sketchup::CCameraDefinition. Non of the examples in the above post works: atlast::sketchup::CCameraDefinition cameraDefn; cameraDefn.Set(atlast::geometry::CPoint3d(793.838, -1262.6, 2603.16), atlast::geometry::CPoint3d(567.977, 338.199, 398.932), atlast::geometry::CUnitVector3d(-0.112657, 0.798459, 0.591415)); and: atlast::sketchup::CCameraDefinition cameraDefn; cameraDefn.Set(atlast::geometry::CPoint3d(793.838, -1262.6, 2603.16), atlast::geometry::CPoint3d(567.977, 338.199, 398.932), atlast::geometry::CUnitVector3d(-0.112657, 0.798459, 0.591415)); In the end I want the initial view to be the view you get from pressing the icon for Zoom extents followed by the Iso icon (the other way around is also ok). Right now I would settle for creating a valid atlast::sketchup::CCameraDefinition. Any better way to achieve this in the SKP-file?

  • Django and Google App Engine Helper not finding the ipaddr module.

    I'm trying to get Django running on GAE using this tutorial. When I run python manage.py runserver I get the stacktrace below.     I'm having a bit of trouble getting my app to show up in the market under GoogleTV.   • Google Maps API - Get points along route between lat/long

    I have a web site that I am trying to get completed and I need to have the user click points on a map and then work out the route on the roads between the two points. So the user clicks the first point on 1st street, and then clicks another point on 4th street, and the map will find the best way to get there and plot the route on the map. I am assuming this can be done using directions and parse it up, but I have been searching for an hour now and can't find what I am looking for (maybe bad search terms). I need to be able to plot the map manually (?) so I can calculate the distance, etc... of the route as the user continues to click. The site that is in beta is http://www.RunMyRoute.com/UserRoutes/Create and you can see I am trying to create running routes. I want the user to have the option for the route to follow the roads versus just a straight line between two points on the map. Any help on this would be great! Simon.

  • Is their an optimal config/format for a TIFF when using Tesseract or other OCR?

    I'm having a bizarre problem with Tesseract. I have a name, "Janice" that is in a 200x40 pixel tiff, that Tesseract interprets as a blank. I'm running hundreds of names through Tesseract and they are processed fine. What I'm actually doing, though, is breaking up a larger TIFF into smaller tiffs of one word each. In the larger TIFF, tesseract recognizes "Janice". What could cause it to hiccup in a TIFF that solely contains that word (and there's enough space around the word to not truncate any of the pixels)? I'm using ImageMagick to split the big TIFF, are there options I should set when reconstituting the new TIFF files?

  • Google App Engine - Caching generated HTML

    I have written a Google App Engine application that programatically generates a bunch of HTML code that is really the same output for each user who logs into my system, and I know that this is going to be in-efficient when the code goes into production. So, I am trying to figure out the best way to cache the generated pages. The most probable option is to generate the pages and write them into the database, and then check the time of the database put operation for a given page against the time that the code was last updated. Then, if the code is newer than the last put to the database (for a particular HTML request), new HTML will be generated and served, and cached to the database. If the code is older than the last put to the database, then I will just get the HTML direct from the database and serve it (therefore avoiding all the CPU wastage of generating the HTML). I am not only looking to minimize load times, but to minimize CPU usage. However, one issue that I am having is that I can't figure out how to programatically check when the version of code uploaded to the app engine was updated. I am open to any suggestions on this approach, or other approaches for caching generated html. Note that while memcache could help in this situation, I believe that it is not the final solution since I really only need to re-generate html when the code is updated (as opposed to every time the memcache expires).   • how to get the real bounds with google maps when fully zoomed out

    I have a map that shows location points based on the gbounds of the map. For example, any time the map is moved/zoomed, i find the bounds and query for locations that fall within those bounds. Unfortunately I'm unable to display all my locations when fully zoomed out. Reason being, gmaps reports the min/max long as whatever is at the edge of the map, but if you zoom out enough, you can get a longitudinal range that excludes visible locations. For instance, if you zoom your map so that you see NorthAmerica twice, on the far left and far right. The min/max long are around: -36.5625 to 170.15625. But this almost completely excludes NorthAmerica which lies in the -180 to -60 range. Obviously this is bothersome as you can actually see the continent NorthAmerica (twice), but when I query my for locations in the range from google maps, NorthAmerica isn't returned. My code for finding the min/max long is: bounds = gmap.getBounds(); min_lat = bounds.getSouthWest().lat() max_lat = bounds.getNorthEast().lat() Has anyone encountered this and can anyone suggest a workaround? Off the top of my head I can only thing of a hack: to check the zoom level and hardcode the min/max lats to -180/180 if necessary, which is definitely unacceptable.

Of course I can cache all the results, but this becomes a storage concern with large gmail boxes and also would be very slow (I can only imagine how long it would take to search through gigabytes of text...). So my question is, is there a way of searching through mail on the server, a la gmail's search field? Maybe through Microsoft Exchange? Hours of Googling has turned up nothing.

    My Silverlight 4 app is hosted in ASP.NET MVC 2 web application. It works fine when I browse with Internet Explorer 8. However Google Chrome (version 5) cannot find ASP.NET controllers. Specifically, the following ASP.NET controller works both with Chrome and IE. //[OutputCache(NoStore = true, Duration = 0, VaryByParam = "None")] public ContentResult TestMe() { ContentResult result = new ContentResult(); XElement response = new XElement("SvrResponse", new XElement("Data", "my data")); result.Content = response.ToString(); return result; } If I uncomment [OutputCache] attribute then it works with IE but not with Chrome. Also, I use custom model binding with controllers, so if I write the following: public ContentResult TestMe(UserContext userContext) { ... } it also works with IE, but again not with Chrome which gives me error message saying that resource was not found. Of course, I configured IIS 6 for handling all requests via aspnet_isapi.dll and I have registered custom model binder in my web app's Global.asax inside Application_Start() method.     I have text that I would like to translate into Russian. The text has custom tags and has multiple <BR> tags. The API behaves oddly with <BR> tags. Are there known issues with <BR> tags? Is there a way around it or what is the best way to use Google JQuery tranlsation to translate the text?     I am trying to build an java web application using struts2 and tiles in Google App Engine.     I've a client testing the full text (example below) search on a new Oracle UCM site. The random text string they chose to test was 'test only'. Which failed; from my testing it seems 'only' is a reserved word, as it is never returned from a full text search (it is returned from metadata searches). I've spent the morning searching oracle.com and found this which seems pretty comprehensive, yet does not have 'only'. So my question is thus, is 'only' a reserved word. Where can I find a complete list of reserved words for Oracle full text search (10g)? Full text search string example; (<ftx>test only</ftx>)

  • How would I detect horizontal-black lines using ImageMagick?

    So I have what is essentially a spreadsheet in TIFF format. There is some uniformity to it...for example, all the column widths are the same. I want to de-limit this sheet by those known-column widths and basically create lots of little graphic files, one for each cell, and run OCR on them and store it into a database. The problem is that the horizontal lines are not all the same height, so I need to use some kind of graphics library command to check if every pixel across is the same color (i.e. black). And if so, then I know I've reached the height-delimiter for a cell. How would I go about doing that? (I'm using RMagick)
