  • How to construct a string based on regex and related parameters in PHP?

    - by user198729
(?P<id>\d*)(/(?P<title>.*))? Most of the time,we use regex to match something, but how to generate the matching string if we have id and title already? Example,if id=4 and title='hello world',the result should be: 4/hello world But if we only have id=4,it should be: 4 Because as the regex indicates, title is optional. Two answers both misunderstood... There is no preg_match yet

  • How do I use a string as a keyword argument?

    - by Issac Kelly
Specifically, I'm trying to use a string to arbitrairly filter the ORM. I've tried exec and eval solutions, but I'm running into walls. The code below doesn't work, but it's the best way I know how to explain where I'm trying to go from gblocks.models import Image f = 'image__endswith="jpg"' # Would be scripted in another area, but passed as text <user input> d = Image.objects.filter(f) #for the non-django pythonistas: d = Image.objects.filter(image__endswith="jpg") # would be the non-dynamic equivalent.

  • Simple 301 redirect; how do I get it to drop the query string?

    - by Throlkim
Hopefully there's a simple solution to this. I'm setting up a redirect for old search listings, but I don't want any of the query string to carry over. The current rule is: redirect 301 /blog http://newdomain.com But this would redirect the following: http://www.olddomain.com/blog/2009/11/article-name-etc To this: http://newdomain.com/2009/11/article-name-etc When I just want: http://newdomain.com Can this be done in the simple 301 redirect, or will I have to write a mod_rewrite rule?

  • How do i convert a string to a JSON object in JQuery?

    - by Rob
I have a string in my db I want to pull into my page and convert to a json object. • What is the RFC complicant and working regular expression to check if a string is a valid URL

    - by bestis
There is question by the almost the same name already: What is the best regular expression to check if a string is a valid URL I don't understand this stackoverflow. It seems like I need reputation to comment an answer. As I don't have it, I don't know how to tell/ask that the proposed solution doesn't seem to work. So I'm forced to make a new question and ask for the solution this way? But that regexp seems to fail in input which has IPv6 address in it: For example facebook's IPv6 address: http://2620:0:1cfe:face:b00c::3/ Also link to localhost fails: http://::1/ Or is PHP to blame? /** * Validate URL - RFC 3987 (IRI) * * http://stackoverflow.com/questions/161738/what-is-the-best-regular-expression-to-check-if-a-string-is-a-valid-url * * @param string $str_url * @return boolean `http://2620:0:1cfe:face:b00c::3/` > bool(false) > `http://2620:0:1cfe:face:b00c::3:80/` > bool(false) And it also seems that stackoverflow's code is miss behaving on those :) So what is the RFC If you close this, please then tell me how this situation should be handled? I don't think that the answer is, just earn your reputation. Who wants to do that if they cannot even tell that some proposed solution isn't working correctly. pps. • Delphi 6: How to search a dynamic array for sub-string quickly?

    - by Robert Oschler
How can I search a dynamic array of char in Delphi 6 for a sub-string and get back an index to a match, not a pointer? I've seen functions in Delphi 6 that do this for strings but not for dynamic char arrays. There is a function called SearchBuf but that function returns a PChar pointer to the match location when what I need is the array index of the match. Thanks.

  • A more elegant way to parse a string with ruby regular expression using variable grouping?

    - by i0n
At the moment I have a regular expression that looks like this: ^(cat|dog|bird){1}(cat|dog|bird)?(cat|dog|bird)?$ It matches at least 1, and at most 3 instances of a long list of words and makes the matching words for each group available via the corresponding variable. Is there a way to revise this so that I can return the result for each word in the string without specifying the number of groups beforehand? ^(cat|dog|bird)+$ works but only returns the last match separately , because there is only one group.

  • Why is this statement treated as a string instead of its result?

    - by reve_etrange
    I am trying to perform some composition-based filtering on a large collection of strings (protein sequences). I wrote a group of three subroutines in order to take care of it, but I'm running into trouble in two ways - one minor, one major. The minor trouble is that when I use List::MoreUtils 'pairwise' I get warnings about using $a and $b only once and them being uninitialized. But I believe I'm calling this method properly (based on CPAN's entry for it and some examples from the web). The major trouble is an error "Can't use string ("17/32") as HASH ref while "strict refs" in use..." It seems like this can only happen if the foreach loop in &comp is giving the hash values as a string instead of evaluating the division operation. I'm sure I've made a rookie mistake, but can't find the answer on the web. The first time I even looked at perl code was last Wednesday... use List::Util; use List::MoreUtils; my @alphabet = ( 'A', 'R', 'N', 'D', 'C', 'Q', 'E', 'G', 'H', 'I', 'L', 'K', 'M', 'F', 'P', 'S', 'T', 'W', 'Y', 'V' ); my $gapchr = '-'; # Takes a sequence and returns letter = occurrence count pairs as hash. sub getcounts { my %counts = (); foreach my $chr (@alphabet) { $counts{$chr} = ( $[0] =~ tr/$chr/$chr/ ); } $counts{'gap'} = ( $[0] =~ tr/$gapchr/$gapchr/ ); return %counts; } # Takes a sequence and returns letter = fractional composition pairs as a hash. sub comp { my %comp = getcounts( $[0] ); foreach my $chr (@alphabet) { $comp{$chr} = $comp{$chr} / ( length( $[0] ) - $comp{'gap'} ); } return %comp; } # Takes two sequences and returns a measure of the composition difference between them, as a scalar. # Originally all on one line but it was unreadable. sub dcomp { my @dcomp = pairwise { $a - $b } @{ values( %{ comp( $[0] ) } ) }, @{ values( %{ comp( $[1] ) } ) }; @dcomp = apply { $_ ** 2 } @dcomp; my $dcomp = sqrt( sum( 0, @dcomp ) ) / 20; return $dcomp; } Much appreciation for any answers or advice!

  • How to convert string to XML object in JavaScript?

    - by Jack Roscoe
Hi, I am aware of this question already existing, but it has given me no luck. I have an application which loads a physicial XML document via the following method: jQuery.ajax( { type: "GET", url: fileName, dataType: "xml", success: function(data) { etc... I parse the XML and convert it into a string which is saved into a variable so that it can easily be stored in a database. How can I now convert the data in this variable back into an XML object so that it can be parsed as such?
