• ASP.NET MVC Html.ValidationSummary(true) does not display model errors

  I have some problem with Html.ValidationSummary. I don't want to display property errors in ValidationSummary. And when I set Html.ValidationSummary(true) it does not display error messages from ModelState. When there is some Exception in controller action on string MembersManager.RegisterMember(member); catch section adds an error to the ModelState: ModelState.AddModelError("error", ex.Message); But ValidationSummary does not display this error message. When I set Html.ValidationSummary(false) all messages are displaying, but I don't want to display property errors. How can I fix this problem?   I'm with a really weird bug with asp.net mvc2 (rtm) and ValidationMessageFor. The example below throws a System.Collections.Generic.KeyNotFoundException on Response.Write(Html.ValidationMessageFor(n = n[index].Name)); Any ideas why thats happening? I'm accessing the same dictionary twice before, but it only throws the error on ValidationMessageFor, any thoughts?   Hi, I'm having difficulty getting data from a textbox into a Controller. I've read about a few ways to accomplish this in Sanderson's book, Pro ASP.NET MVC Framework, but haven't had any success. Also, I've ran across a few similiar questions online, but haven't had any success there either. Seems like I'm missing something rather fundamental. Currently, I'm trying to use the action method parameters approach. Can someone point out where I'm going wrong or provide a simple example? Thanks in advance! Using Visual Studio 2008, ASP.NET MVC2 and C#: What I would like to do is take the data entered in the "Investigator" textbox and use it to filter investigators in the controller. I plan on doing this in the List method (which is already functional), however, I'm using the SearchResults method for debugging.   When I change the selection in a DropDownList, a PartialView gets updated via a GET request. When updating the PartialView via the jQuery html() function, the html returned is correct but when it displayed in the browser it is not correct. For example, certain checkboxes within the PartialView should become enabled but they remain disabled even though the html returned says they should be. When I do a view source in the browser the html never gets updated. I'm a little perplexed. Thoughts? This approach comes largely from this article, but it doesn't handle the errors in the way I need to. Any takers?

Is there a way to do something similar but have it strongly typed? This may be a simple-enough question, but the curse of 10 years of WinForms/WebForms makes this MVC malarky hard to get your head 'round.

The view model also conatins a List called people, and the Person class contains a List. The way I want to display the information is as a table, with each row having a column of Person name, then n number of columns which contain checkboxes, one for each of the List, and checked based on whether the Person's List (called items) contains the id of the Item. I have the display working fine, but I'm struggling to understand how to name the items so that the posted method can read the data. On Register Button click and post the model to the server, the Model validates and if that Email is already Registered, it displays the Validation Error Message "User already Exists. Please Login or Register with a different email ID". While we are displaying this validation error message, I am loosing the value of "Confirm Email" field. So that the user has to reenter again and I want to avoid this. Here I don't have confirm_Email field in my Model.   I have a text file and when users upload the file, the controller action method parses that file using state machine and uses a generic list to store some values. I pass this back to the view in the form of an IEnumerable. Within my main view, based on this ienumerable list I render a partail view to iterate items and display labels and a textarea.
