  • fastest way convert tab-delimited file to csv in linux

    I have a tab-delimited file that has over 200 million lines. What's the fastest way in linux to convert this to a csv file? This file does have multiple lines of header information which I'll need to strip out down the road, but the number of lines of header is known. I have seen suggestions for sed and gawk, but I wonder if there is a "preferred" choice.

    I have an ImageView that is twice the height of a normale screen ( 960 dip). I would like to scroll it nicely up and down on the screen. The bottom of the screen should contain a bottom. I have tried various combinations of ScrollView and Imageviews without any success. I have also thinkered with the :isScrollContainer attribute without results. Anyone knows how to do this?     On my button click, the jQuery dialog appears with just the title and buttons. When you mouseover, then you see the form inputs in front of the dialog covering the buttons. It displays fine on the jsp page or in the ireports preview but when it generates the RFT format, it gives me the "Invalid text height" error. I have no idea which field is causing this error, is there a way in ireports to drill down exactly which field is causing it?

    What HTML APIs are available for touch screen devices (e.g. tablet PCs)? I notice that GMail's iPad interface (and other mobile interfaces) doesn't scroll down in a normal web browser (pretending to be an iPad via a user-agent hack). How can one access this API on a PC? I have a school full of tablet PCs that aren't wonderful in tablet mode due to lack of application support, but there looks to be an increasing number of web-based apps that will fill this gap.

    Hi Everyone, I have a date_select field in my rails application as follows: <%= f.date_select :dateinstructed %> I would like to re-order the drop down lists show they output as: DD/MM/YYYY According to what I have read you can use the :order option, but I am unsure how to actually use this option: <%= f.date_select :dateinstructed, :order = {:day, :month, :year} %> Obviously this isn't right, but what am I supposed to put in place of the: :day, :month, :year Any help would be appreciated!   • UIWebView paging / line cut off

    Hi, I am trying to page a webpage, so disable scrolling, then the second page is the same webpage scrolled down the page height. The problem I have is that the bottom of the first page often has 1/2 a line of text, then the second page has the bottom half of the line. Is there a way to ensure the entire line falls on one of the pages? Similar to Stanza etc? Thanks

    Hi there, Suppose I have this very simple method in Store's model: def geocode_address loc = Store.geocode(address) self.lat = loc.lat self.lng = loc.lng end If I want to write some test scripts that aren't affected by the geocoding service, which may be down, have limitations or depend on my internet connection, how do I mock out the geocoding service?   • IE6 the last three characters in a div are being repeated else where in the page? really weird

    Hey, Basically i have an issues (in IE6) where the last three characters of a line of text in a div are being repeated further down the page even though they are only in the HTML once. http://www.disturbmedia.com/jason/test/ please see the numbers in black, its always the last three characters that get repeated, so strange. I have never seen this before, its only in IE6? Anyone have any info?! Am super confused as to how this is happening. Thanks Jason

    I'm adding a custom button/keypad to my application. Thus far, I have a UIImageView subclass that contains an animation that slides it from the bottom of the screen, and then back down when the user no longer needs it. I'm having trouble adding UIButtons to this UIImageView, however. Since this is a subclass of UIView, I'm attempting to add buttons to my view via the initWithFrame: method. However, the button never appears. I have also tried adding the button to my buttonPad object by instantiating & adding it as a subView to the buttonPad in my view controller file. This worked... but it didn't allow the button to function. I am wondering: A.) Is it appropriate to add buttons or any subview for that matter to the UIView initWithFrame: method or should I be adding these subviews as a subview to my buttonPad in the view Controller file? B.) Since I am creating a custom button/keypad, am i following a valid approach by using a normal UIViewController or should I be using something like a modal view Controller? ( I have little knowledge about these.)

  • Visual Web Developer 2008 Express and XHTML 1.1 (not applying)

    Hello. I may be missing something since I'm not used to work with IDEs for web development, so please understand if I'm doing something stupid. I've picked a copy of Beginning ASP.NET 3.5 in C# and VB to try and learn this thing quickly. I'm no HTML guru, but I know something about the DTDs and I want to either use XHTML 1.0 Strict or XHTML 1.1 while learning the ins and outs of ASP.NET. Following the book (just started actually), I'm not having any trouble understanding the concepts, since I have a C# background, but what I don't understand is how VWD goes about applying the schema you select for validation. The book explains that the drop-down list on the toolbar is enough to set this, so that's what I did: I've selected XHTML 1.1 (since there is no 1.0 strict option, what I find really odd) and then started the project. The thing is that the code generated automatically for the Default page had the XHTML 1.0 transitional DTD. Every other page added had the same DTD, even though XHTML 1.1 is still the selected schema in the drop-down list. I decided to test it out and there it was: inserting some text in the design view and then applying a bold formatting just inserted < b tags on the code. Changing color does add a span tag with added CSS though. What I want to know is: if I want strict XHTML (or 1.1) should I just code it manually? Or is there a "fix" for this problem (having a schema selected but not applied by the IDE)? Am I missing something really easy and dumb? I have no problem with coding it manually - I actually prefer doing that. The thing is that I really wanna try this WYSIWYG approach for once, since some developers swear by it. Plus I don't know yet if I'll need special tags for ASP.NET, so I think having them inserted automatically should be the best practice. I couldn't find any similar problems around (MSDN, Google, here), and as far as the book goes (up to the point I've read), this is the expected VWD behavior, which I find suspect at least. Sorry for the long text (and poor English - not my primary language). Thanks in advance for any help/tips.
