• JQuery+Java setting field value with val() + single quote

  I have a problem setting the value of a textarea element with jquery's val(). Basically, I have a JSP file which receives a string parameter called 'text'. Java code: String text = (String) request.getParameter('text'); Now I want my textarea element to receive this text: Javascript code: $('#textarea_id').val('<%=text%>'); It works when my text doesnt contain quotes single quotes (and possibly other chars). For example, for text = test' this error happens: Uncaught SyntaxError: Unexpected token ILLEGAL $('#textarea_id').val('test''); I hope you guys understand. I need a way to encode this value... i tried using escape so the quote is replaced by %27, but after unescaping its replaced again and the error happens. Thanks!

• jquery, simplemodal with a tooltip?

  I'm using http://dev.mariusilie.net/content/simple-tooltip-jquery-plugin for my tooltip and simple modal for a modal window. I've got a link in the modal window and when I put my mouse over it, the tooltip is there, but it's beneath the modal window. I think it has to do with "z-index". I looked and I think the modal window is at 1000. I've set the #simpleTooltip property in the css with various z-index values, with no luck. It always appears beneath the modal window. Any Ideas?

  Hi. I'm trying to select all elements that have a class, get their ID's (if they have one), and append individual spans to the end of my document based on that information. This is as far as I've managed to get: var element = $(".foo"), element_id = element.attr("id"), span_id = "for-" + element + "-id-" + element_id, ; I am hoping to append a span for each element gathered. Here are some examples of the span format I wish to achieve: <span id="for-img-id-profile"></span> <span id="for-div-id-content"></span> If possible, I would also like to allow for elements without an ID to be formatted like so: <span id="for-h1"></span> I really appreciate the help as I'm very new to jQuery and am trying to learn.

What I want to do is, if the image size is more than 600 px, we will resize the image to 600 px to fit into the div. But if the image is not more than 600px, we will leave as original image width.   Hi, I've been experimenting with this plugin http://valums.com/edit-in-place/, so far so good... But i ran into this problem. I want to update my page when update or new request to save data is sent but if i update this function(edit-in-place) it will add second set of buttons, third, fourth and so on. How could i tell it that it would update just on that returned data, but not all elements? I have an idea it has to do something with each function of jquerys, but I'm not sure as I'm quite new to jquery. Thanks for any help!

  Hi, I'm developing an application with uses this calendar for resource reservation, but I have a problem when creating a new event. I don't want events to overlap, so I set allow allowCalEventOverlap to false. However, it still overlaps in a transparent way. But the biggest problem is that I can't drag an event if there's another on the same day, even if their start and end dates don't overlap.   I am currently using find() and first() method to select the first descendent element from each of the <div> elements that contains the parent class. But I find this quite cumbersome since find() method would produce a set of matched elements before the first element is being picked. • Jquery and CSS switching - is this possible?

  I build a css file using PHP which allows me to easily customize the color of many elements. Is it possible for me to "rebuild" the stylesheet and apply it to the page in the DOM using Jquery? eg. <?php if (isset($_POST['mycolor'])){ $myColor = $_POST['mycolor']; } else { $myColor = "blue"; } ?> <style type='text/css'> .style1{ color:<?php $myColor;?>; } </style> Now on my page I have a link you can click called "change color to red" and when you click "red" it does a $.post to my php script, which rebuilds the css including .style1 - and allows the page to change the stylesheet. I haven't tested this but would it even work? If I echo'ed out the new stylesheet after the post into the dom... would it even apply to the page?

Those codes work on my FF (16.0.2). I just a little afraid that other browser may not. What actually happen ? How jQuery handle those code ? Thanks.

  In terms of jQuery (or Javascript), what happens behind the scenes when a person posts a comment on Facebook, Twitter, or a blog? For instance, do they sanitize the text first, and then pattern match URL's into an actual link? Are there other items of concern that the client-side should check in addition to doing some checks on the backend? I have found a few regex's for turning URL's into links, but I'm not sure if there are better solutions. I'm trying to wrap my head around the problem, but I'm having a difficult time knowing where to start. Any guidance you can provide is greatly appreciated!

  I need to replace some text that is on the page within the body tag. I am using javascript but have jquery available if needed. I basically need to replace test® (test with the registered trademark) with TEST® or tests® with TESTS® and it could even be test with TEST® or tests with TESTS®. I am able to uppercase them but its not liking to work for me with the ® sign, it wants to put duplicates on ones that already have it. Basically anything on the page that has the word test or tests should be TEST® or TESTS® if it is plural. Any help is appreciated.

  I am having an aspx page in which I am calling a user control. The user control I am using a pop up to display it when a user clicks a asp:linkbutton. In that user control I am having a textbox and I am calling a Jquery Blur to do some validation. While doing so the function is calling [blur] is calling twice. I just called an alert() with the textbox value.So I can see the alert is coming twice .What I need to do to avoid the second time. • jQuery inline text scrolling/rotating/carousel effect

  I trying to create an animation with JQuery that scrolls 1 word in a sentence. For example, I am a nice sententce of text with a MAGIC word in it OTHER HIDDEN WORDS After a second or so, MAGIC would move upwards and OTHER would scroll into view. I've tried playing with a few carousel plugins but I can't seem to get the effect working. Some seem to have so many nested divs that they refuse to display inline, others have issues when one word is longer than another. Does anybody know of a plugin that could make this possible? Is this even possible?

• Is it possible to set different select2 parameters at different times?

  From playing around I can see that this code $("#Selected3").select2({ minimumInputLength: 3 }); $("#Selected3").select2({ placeholder: "Show a placeholder" }); will show me the placeholder but remove the minimumInputLength parameters value. Does anyone know a way please that this example could be modified so that the placeholder will be added without losing the minimum..Length value. Any answers will need to allow for the possibility of the statements being in separate files, i.e. one on the page and another in a referenced .js file. I am aware that this would be much easier if I set all the parameters at once, e.g. $("#Selected3").select2({ minimumInputLength: 3, placeholder: "Show a placeholder" }); but I am working within a framework which won't currently allow that.   Is it possible to set "for"(AssociatedControlID) attribute using jQuery? I am trying something like this to set it to the very next control that appears after label: $('label.asssociateClass').each(function() { var toAssociate = $(this).next(':input'); $(this).attr("for", toAssociate.attr("id")); }); The problem is that if I don't set it on a server through AssociatedControlID it never gets here since it's rendered as span instead of label in that case. Is there a way to overcome this or I have to do it on a server?
