• PHP app with cookie less session does not work

  I am trying to use PHP session without using cookies. I have enabled session.use_trans_sid and disabled session.use_cookies in my php.ini file. I have also disabled cookies in my firefox browser. Now, when I browse my home page, I do not see the HTTP set cookie header in the server response to my page request (using Live HTTP headers). My understanding is that PHP will append session IDs to my request URL when cookies are disabled. Am I doing something wrong? BTW, I am aware using session IDs is not a recommended approach.

• AJAX with Web services and ASP.NET SessionState

  We have an application which uses ScriptManager to generate a client-side proxy which makes AJAX calls to web services. The web services being invoked live in a separate appDomain(separate cluster altogether). The problem is that our application uses a State server for storing session. I want the web services to be able to access session also. First off, does anyone see anything wrong with the client making web service calls to a separate cluster(we're hoping this would be a better approach for scalability)? I was thinking that possibly anytime there is an update to the session dictionary in one appDomain, automatically update the session in the other appDomain also(referring to the web service appDomain, don't know how to do this, only theoretical). What do others think? Thanks!

• jQuery - Trigger click event on links with spacebar?

  It looks like in most browsers, an <input type="submit"> treats both [spacebar] and [enter] as a click, but an <a> link only treats [enter] as a click. My app uses a number of links formatted to simulate buttons, so a user that is accustomed to tabbing to a button and pressing [spacebar] will be frustrated. This bit of jQuery solves the problem: $("a.Button").die("keypress").live("keypress", function(e) { if (e.which == 32) { $(this).trigger("click"); e.preventDefault(); } }); My question: Is this a reason not to do this? I'm a little reluctant to override the browser's default behavior on something as basic as this, but since I'm already abusing the link tag to make it look like a button, at least this way I'm not violating the user's expectations any further.

  I'd like all my content to flow around an image. To do this, I simply did img#me { width: 300px; float: left; margin-right: 30px; } This works for text wraping, but other elements go behind it. • Autotesting a network interface

  Hi All, I'm developing a software component responsible for testing if a network interface has conectivity with the internet. Think of it as the same test the XBOX360 does to inform the user if it's connected with the Live network (just as an example). So far I figured the autotest would run as this: 1) Test the physical network interface (if the cable is conected, has up/downlink, etc...) 2) Test the logical network (has IP address, has DNS, etc...) 3) Connects to the internet (can access google, for example) 4) ??? 5) Profit! (just kidding...) My question relates to step 3: How can I detect, correctly, if my software has connection with the internet ? Is there any fixed IP address to ping ? The problem is that I don't want to rely solely on google.com (or any other well-known address), as those can change in time, and my component will be embbeded on a mobile device, not easy to update. Any suggestions ?

  I am trying to use Intellij's file templates (not live templates) to help mitigate how much boilerplate code I use when making Services, daos, and their interfaces. I am able to use all the system defined variables just fine, such as ${PACKAGE_NAME} What I want though, is to be able to use my own variable names, like ${MY_USER_INPUT} however, when i do this like above, I get an error The documentation says : It is also possible to specify arbitrary number of custom variables in format ${<VARIABLE_NAME>}. and then Intellij is supposed to prompt the user for the value. However, this just plain doesn't work for me. What am I missing?

  I have a php account with my provider, and I also have cpanel installed for me. I currently have two drupal sites there, let's called the main myMainSite and another one under construction called myNewSite. So when I go to www.myMainSite.com, I go to the main site. When I go to myNewSite.myMainSite.com, i go to the drupal site that is under construction. My question is, when my under construction site goes live, I want that all users that go to www.myMainSite.com see the new site (the one that is under myNewSite.myMainSite.com). How can I accomplish this with cpanel? is it within the "addon domains" configuration? I don't want a redirect that changes the address bar, ie, I want to keep the original url.

• Windows disassembler: looking for a tool...

  Hello. I'm looking for a (preferably free) tool that can produce "proper" disassembly listing from a (non-.NET) windows PE file (*.exe or *.dll). Important requirement: it should be possible to run the listing through a windows assembler (nasm, masm or whatever) and get working exe again (not necessarily identical to original one, but it should behave in the same way). Intended usage is adding new subroutines into existing code, when source is not available. Ideally, tool should be able to detect function/segment boundaries, API calls, and generate proper labels for jumps (I can live without labels for loops/jumps, though, but function boundary detection would be nice), and keep program resources/segments in place. I'm already aware of IdaPRO(not free), OllyDBG (useful for in-place hacking, doesn't generate disassembly listing, AFAIK), ndisasm (output isn't suitable for assembler), dumpbin (useful, but AFAIK, output isn't suitable for assembler) and "proxy dll" technique. Ideas? Or maybe there is a book/tutorial that explains some kind of alternative approach?

  Hi again. I am using the next instructions to get some registers from my Database. This is executed from the Params_Model_DbTable_Param instance class, that depends from Params_Model_DbTable_Paramtype class (reference map and dependentTables arrays are fine in both classes) $obj_select = $this->select()->where('deleted_at IS NULL')->order('name'); // Execute the next query, applying the select restrictions. This returns a Zend_Db_Table_Rowset_Abstract class object. Zend_Registry::get('log')->debug($obj_params_rowset); I have a profiler for all my DB executions from Zend. At this point the log and profiler objects (that includes Firebug writers), shows the executed SQL Queries, and the last line displays the resulting Zend_Db_Table_Rowset_Abstract class object. If I execute the SQL Queries in some MySQL Client, the results are as expected. But the Zend Firebug log writer displays as NULL the column values with latin characters (ñ). In other words, the external SQL client shows es_CO | Español de Colombia and en_US | English of United States but the Query results from Zend displays (and returns) es_CO | null and en_US | English of United States. I've deleted the ñ character from Español de Colombia and the query results are just fine in my Zend Log Firebug screen, and in the final Zend Form element. The MySQL database, tables and columns are in UTF-8 - utf8_unicode_ci collation. All my zend framework pages are in UTF-8 charset. I'm using XAMPP 1.7.1 (PHP 5.2.9, Apache at port 90 and MySQL 5.1.33-community) running on Windows 7 Ultimate; Zend Framework 1.10.1. I'm sorry if there is so much information, but I don't really know why could that happen, so I tryed to provide as much related information as I could to help to find some answer.

• SDK for writing DVD's

  I need to add DVD writing functionality to an application I'm working on. However it needs to be able to write out files that are being grabbed "live" from a camera, over a long period of time. I can't wait until all the files are captured before I start writing them to the DVD, I need to write them out in chunks as I go along. I've looked at IMAPI v2, but the main problems seems to be that you need to point it to all the files you plan to write out to disk before you start the burning process. I know it has to concept of "sessions", which means you can write to the DVD in several parts, before you finally "close" it. But I was wondering if there were any other DVD writing SDK's that allow you to be constantly writing files to a DVD and in particular files that are only in memory. It would be more efficient if I didn't have to write the captured images out to hard before they are burned to DVD. The solution needs to work under .NET on Windows XP and vista

• PDF permissions management with ASP.NET - Timeout Issue

  I have a website that has several PDF files. I need to have quite a few of them locked down with the standard ASP.NET authentication (in a folder with web.config that denies anonymous users). I set PDF files to get handled by the ASP.NET worker process and added: <add type="System.Web.StaticFileHandler" path="*.pdf" verb="*" /> to my web.config, but for some reason they hang when downloading. I've seen this issue before on an old server, and for the live of me I can't remember what I did to solve it. Does anyone have any idea? Thanks.

What am really looking at is the best approach to cache the the indexpublic script does get quite some hits and I would live to avoid the Zend MVC overhead if possible.

• Store html form on client or server while building?

  Hi, I have a fairly complex html form enhanced via jquery. It has multiple tabs, within each one things like a html form builder, uploads, descriptions. There is lots of data, and as the user flicks around the various tabs I'm thinking of posting the data to the server. For example, the form builder, has about 10 properties for each field, as the user flicks between the various fields, an ajax request saves the current values, then loads a new set from the new field clicked on. When the user hits save, the idea is then on the server all these bits and pieces come together and become the live version (i may store them as a temp version while the user is working away). So I guess my question is, for complex forms where the same fields are re-used within the one form, does anyone attempt to save all this data locally and upload it in one hit or do most of you do little ajax post's and compile it all when the final save button is hit? b

  First off, I'm using Tomcat 5.5 and my .jsp's live in /webapps/foo/bar/*.jsp. I followed the directions here to set up a default 404 error page. In my TOMCAT_HOME/conf/web.xml I entered: <error-page> <error-code>404</error-code> <location>/error.html</location> </error-page> I dropped copies of a test error.html file into each of the dirs (I wasn't sure where /error.html was referring to): /webapps/ /webapps/foo/ /webapps/foo/bar/ Whenever I attempt to access a non-existent page in a browser at url's /foo/missingpage.html or /foo/bar/missingpage.html I'm redirected to my error page that exists in /foo/error.html. However, attempting to access a non-existent page in a browser at url /missingpage.html yields a blankpage. Or any permutation of /missingDir/missingfile.html will also yield a blank page.
