• How do I install .NET framework 1.1 for Windows 7

  The problem: Lord of the Rings Online required .NET framework 1.1 to be installed. It will not recongize other higher versions. Downloading the standalone installer yields exceptions at the end of the installation process. The error message is "Application has generated an exception that could not be handled" What could I do about this?

• Computer no display from connection problem.

  My computer is booting but has no display. The optical drive has power, but the USB doesn't, so I figured that I had a broken motherboard. However I tried to boot my computer again laying flat, and it worked fine for two seconds, and then froze like it did the first time. It had no display after that. I have come to the conclusion that it is a connection problem (someone had a similar problem on one of the online forums).

• Slow and unresponssive network

  Ive have the Nokia N900 mobile phone (running Maemo linux), and my device is really slow while using the wifi and trying to get stuff online (checking mail, loading pages). The webbrowsers itself (MicroB, Firefox, Opera) starts fast. Yesterday ive tried to set the dns to googles but that did not solve the case. Is there, and how do i check/verify my connection to the internet if im connected to my home wifi in linux? (tools, other then ping :D)

• pidgin: how to make it log logins/logouts of an ICQ buddy if the conversation tab is still open

  Hello, when pidgin was called gaim and you had opened a tab with am ICQ buddy, all his logins and logouts were logged during the time you had that tab open. It didnt' even matter if your buddy was online before you opened the tab with him. In pidgin 2.6.6, I this behavior can no longer be observed and I cannot find an option in the preferences or buddy context menu to enable it. How do I restore that behavior from gaim time? Thanks!

For what I need, Tor seems to do the job – but such software requires configuration that someone who is not knowledgeable in how it works might find difficult. I was looking at 'Lightweight portable security' but it does not specify whether it sends all traffic through Tor. Does anyone know more information about it and/or any other such live Linux distro?

• Photoshop 5.5 won't start after upgrading to windows 7 from vista

  I have photoshop 5.5 working just fine under windows vista, I upgraded my PC to windows 7 and when I start photoshop 5.5 it just hangs. I see the main screen open but nothing happens and I just get the busy sign out of the mouse pointer, with Photoshop not completing the start. I searched online and some reported the same issue and were able to solve the issue by deleting Photoshop setting or preference file. I did that, but still the issue is present.

• Oracle sysman password reset and enterprise manager

  We are running oracle 10g.yesterday we had to reset sysman(and all other sys acounts)user with alter user command. Password change command worked by oracle enterprise manager does not see the database running. As per oracle docs,we did change the password(and encryption setting) and restarted the dbconsole service. Password does get encrypted after restarted but em still does not see the database online. Are we missing any other important step? Thanks Aboxy

  From what I can tell this is recent error that has started to occur on my localserver: Can't connect to MySQL server on 'localhost' (10048). My site will work for a while then it will randomly throw this error then start working again. Any advice on how to fix this? I have searched online and most people claim that it is a windows based error which needs a registry fix but I wanted to see if anyone else has encountered this issue and has any better advice? • Batch convert AppleWorks files into PDF within originating folder, delete original file?

  Probably AppleScript is the way to go with this - I have found scripts online that do this, but snag on oversize printable area and put files in the same folder - I need files to stay in the folder the source came from. If the script also deleted the original AppleWorks file, that would be even better, but not required.   Alright, so I need the soap extension enabled in php. When I run phpinfo(), it's not there, so I'm guessing I have to recompile? I can follow tutorials online to recompile the most recent php version for centos, but will it generally just work after that? Or does apache need to know to use the new installation?
