  I have used Ubuntu serval years, and i am trying to install a audio recorder from the terminal, and this i want to work whit ubuntu as default audio recording system in the sound settings menu, and i installed it from the terminal and i had enter: sudo add-apt-repository ppa:osmoma/audio-recorder sudo apt-get update sudo apt-get install audio-recorder and it seams installed but how can you set it up as default audio recorder for ubuntu. Whenever I try to set something like that it is just reset to "Disabled". A workaround is of course to use the numeric pad, but I'd like to be able to do this on my EEE laptop as well without enabling and disabling NumLock all the time.

  Trying to get my 03:03.0 Network controller: Broadcom Corporation BCM4318 [AirForce One 54g] 802.11g Wireless LAN Controller (rev 02) working. I just reformated and installed 12.04 on this old Windows XP machine, and I don't know where to get the firmware for this.   Prologue Following EF series (I ,II y III) in this chapter we will see how to create DB record from EF. Inserting Data Like we indicated in the 2º post: “One Entity matches with a DB record, and one property match with a Table Column”. To start, we need to create an object from one of the Entities: 1: EMPLEADOS empleado = new EMPLEADOS(); Also like, I told previously, Exists the possibility to use the Static Function defined by VS for each Entity: Once we have created the object, we can Access to it properties to fill like a common class:   1: empleado.NOMBRE = "Javier Torrecilla";   After finish of fill our Entity properties, it must be needed to add the object to the appropriate ObjectSet in the ObjectContext: 1: enti.EMPLEADOS.AddObject(empleado); or 1: enti.AddToEMPLEADOS(empleado); Both methods will do the same action, create an insert statement. Have we finished? No. Any Entity has a property called “EntityState”. This prop is an Enum from “EntityState”, which has the following: Detached: the Entity is created, but not added to the Context. Unchanged: There is no pending changes in the Entity. Added: The entity is added to the ObjectSet, but it is not yet sent to the DB. Deleted: The object is deleted form the ObjectSet, but not yet from the DB. Modified: There is Pending Changes to confirm. Let’s see, the several values of the property during the Creation steps: 1. While the Object is created and we are filling the props: EntityState.Detached; 2. After adding to the ObjectSet: EntityState.Added. This not indicated that the record is in the DB 3. Saving the Data: To sabe the data in the DB, we are going to call “SaveChanges” method of the Object Context. After invoke it, the property will be EntityState.Unchanged.   What does SaveChanges Method? This function will synchronize and send all pending changes to DB. It will add, modify or delete all Entities, whose EntityState property, is setted to Added, Deleted or Modified. After finishing, all added or modified entities will be change the State to “Unchanged”, and deleted Entities must take the “Detached” state.

• Fusion-Icon does not show up in system tray

  I can't find a solution for my problem online: I'm running Unity 2D in Ubuntu 11.10 and want to enable compiz effects. I installed compiz config settings manager, and Fusion-Icon, but when I start Fusion-Icon nothing happens. When I execute it from terminal it stucks at lines like "setting update 'command'" or "setting update 'next_key'" I already set the whitelist for the panel to 'all'. Anyone knows what I'm missing? Thanks in advance!

• How to reset darktable

  I need a way of reseting darktable to its factory settings. With shotwell it is simply a case of deleting the home directory for shotwell, but there doesn't appear to be one for DT under it's name. I can't use darktable for more than about 30 seconds as it attempts to load up the library of about 30,000 RAW files from one folder and unsurprisingly crashes. This is the only thing holding me back from 100% cross over to ubuntu.

  I am working on a Javascript app (CloudGraph) that uses HTML5 canvas and JQuery. I'm using ExplorerCanvas to support canvas in IE. I recently came across an interesting problem. What I was trying to do is restore the user's settings when the page is loaded. I read some information from a cookie that I set the last time the user accessed the application. One of these settings is the size of the canvas. I decided that the best place to do this would be when the document is ready using JQuery $(document).ready(). This worked fine in browsers that natively support the canvas element. But in IE it kept getting errors the first time I would hit the page. It seemed that the excanvas element wasn't initialized yet because I was getting null reference and unknown properties errors. If I refreshed the page the errors went away but the resized canvas wasn't drawing on the entire area of the canvas. It was like the clipping rectangle was still set to the default canvas size. I found that the canvas element when using excanvas has a div child element which is where the actual drawing takes place. When I changed the width and height of the canvas element in document.ready it didn't change the width and height of the child div. Initially my solution was to also change the div element when changing the canvas element and that worked. But then I realized that having to refresh the page every time I started the app in IE really sucked. That wouldn't be acceptable for users. Since it seemed like the canvas wasn't getting initialized before I was trying to use it I decided to try to initialize my app at a different time. I figured the next best place was in the onload event. Sure enough, moving my initialization to onload fixed all of the problems. So, it looks like the canvas shouldn't be manipulated until the onload event when using ExplorerCanvas. There might be ways to do it when the document is ready. I found some posts on initializing excanvas manually, but for me waiting until onload worked just fine.

  Hi, After by battery died on my laptop I started my computer after plugging it to the ac adapter, for no reason that I know I cant use the visual effects any more as if my graphic card is not installed (my graphic card is GeForce 300m and nvidia x-settings is working) I tried generating a new xorg.conf file but nothing happened I marked all the installed nvidia driver in synaptic for re installation and didn't really help I googled the problem appears to be popular but couldn't find a solid solution Any Ideas ?
