Why isn't uploadify and asp.net mvc 2 playing nice for me?

First of all, I've checked out all the SO threads, and googled my brains out. I must be missing something obvious. I'd really appreciate some help! This is what I've got. Jquery – Disable/unbind click on active items, rebind click when inactive

I have a left-positioned navigation that shows/hides content on the right. Currently, when you click a link, it fades in the corresponding content on the right and adds an active class to that link. My problem is that if you click the active link again, the content on the right keeps on fading in again. I would like to unbind that click while the link is active, and if you click on another navigation link (subsequently removing the class from the previous link and adding it to the current one) rebind the click event to all inactive links. CKEditor inside jQuery Dialog, how do I build it?

So, I'm working with CKEditor and jQuery, trying to build a pop-out editor. Below is what I have coded so far, and I can't seem to get it working the way I want it to. Basically, click the 'Edit' link, dialog box pops up, with the content to edit loaded into the CKEditor. Also, not required, but helpful if you can suggest how to do it. I can't seem to find out how to make the save button work in CKEditor (though I think the form will do it). Hi, I have the following NavigableImagePanel, it is under BSD license and I found it in the web. What I want to do with this panel is as follow: I want to add a JScrollPane to it in order to show images in their full size and let the users to re-center the image using the small navigation panel. Right now, the panel resize the images to fit them in the current panel size. I want it to load the image in its real size and let users to navigate to different parts of the image using the navigation panel. Impersonation - Access is denied

I am having trouble using impersonation to delete a PerformanceCounterCategory from an MVC website. I have a static class and when the application starts it checks whether or not a PerformanceCounterCategory exists, and if it contains the correct counters. If not, it deletes the category and creates it again with the required counters. It works fine when running under the built in webserver Cassini, but when i try run it through IIS7 (Vista) i get the following error: Access is denied Description: An unhandled exception occurred during the execution of the current web request. Hi, i want to create Pan & Zoom control Similar thread, so i transform control with ScaleTransform and it overlaps all window, i have ot do it with RenderTransform, becouse with LayoutTransform Pan implemented in example doesn't work. Need help with fixing Genetic Algorithm that's not evolving correctly

I am working on a maze solving application that uses a Genetic Algorithm to evolve a set of genes (within Individuals) to evolve a Population of Individuals that power an Agent through a maze. The majority of the code used appears to be working fine but when the code runs it's not selecting the best Individual's to be in the new Population correctly. When I run the application it outputs the following: Total Fitness: 380.0 - Best Fitness: 11.0 Total Fitness: 406.0 - Best Fitness: 15.0 Total Fitness: 344.0 - Best Fitness: 12.0 Total Fitness: 373.0 - Best Fitness: 11.0 Total Fitness: 415.0 - Best Fitness: 12.0 Total Fitness: 359.0 - Best Fitness: 11.0 Total Fitness: 436.0 - Best Fitness: 13.0 Total Fitness: 390.0 - Best Fitness: 12.0 Total Fitness: 379.0 - Best Fitness: 15.0 Total Fitness: 370.0 - Best Fitness: 11.0 Total Fitness: 361.0 - Best Fitness: 11.0 Total Fitness: 413.0 - Best Fitness: 16.0 As you can clearly see the fitnesses are not improving and neither are the best fitnesses. jQuery.ajax call to Twitter succeeds but returns null for Firefox

I've got code that makes a simple get request to Twitter (search) using jQuery's ajax method. The code works fine on Safari, but fails on Firefox (3.6.3). In the Firefox case, my jQuery.ajax parameters 'success' method is invoked, but the supplied data is null. (In Safari, I receive a boatload of JSON data). I am running on a new dev setup for SharePoint 2010 and trying to setup some External Content types. I think that I have setup BCS correctly (since I see it running in the central administration). When I go into SharePoint designer 2010 and try to setup a new External Content Type, I get the following error: "There is no Business Connectivity Service associated with the current web context." Am I missing something with the configuration or why am I not able to setup a new External Content Type to point to my existing SQL database

IE dropdown z-index bug

I'm having a problem with a dropdown menu under IE (6 and 7). http://www.amaconsulting.pl/promocje.html As you can see, the dropdown hides behind the main content area in IE. It's a known bug and general advice is to set a z-index for header and content areas, so IE knows their "place", explained in the article here: http://bit.ly/coSPcI I've set the z-index of .header div to 20 and .featured, .content, .primary, .main to 1, trying to find the right div to fix the problem. While the dropdown stopped hiding behind the .featured div, it still hides behind the main content divs (either .primary or .main, .secondary is fine). The z-indexes for these divs are set in a separate stylesheet, ie.css, in case someone'll be looking for them. If someone could provide some advice, I'd be very grateful.

ASP.NET MVC model binding with nested child models and PartialViews

I have a model called Page, which has a property called Content of type EditableContent. EditableContent have SidebarLeft and SidebarRight (type TemplateSection). I want to edit the Page instance, in my Edit.aspx view. Because EditableContent is also attached to other models, I have a PartialView called ContentEditor.ascx that is strongly typed and takes an instance of EditableContent and renders it. The rendering part all works fine, but when I post - everything inside my ContentEditor is not binded - which means that Page.Content is null. On the PartialView, I use the strongly typed Html Helpers to do this: <%= Html.HiddenFor(m => m.TemplateId) %> And so on. But because the input elements on the form, rendered by ContentEditor.ascx, does not get the "Content" prefix to its id attribute - the values are not binded to Page. So to overcome this, I've definitely done the wrong thing. Used loosely typed Html Helpers instead: <%= Html.Hidden("Content.TemplateId", Model.TemplateId) %> And when I'm dealing with a property that is a List of something it gets very ugly. I then have to render collection indexes manually... doh What am I missing here? A BindPrefix in the controller action that the Form is being posted to? Should I put both Page and EditableContent as parameters to the controller action: public ActionResult Edit(Page page, EditableContent content) { ... } Any help is much appreciated!

I have two mysql queries: $sql = "SELECT * FROM content WHERE threadName LIKE '%$filter%' ORDER BY lastUpdated desc"; and $sql = "SELECT * FROM content ORDER BY lastUpdated desc"; The end result is to have all rows returned from a particular table 'content' but have those that match the variable $filter at the top. Is there either a single query that could combine these two or should I be using a JOIN?

I'm trying to "re-skin" an existing site that has been nicely built using div's and ul's, etc, and it has a good existing CSS file, but when I start making changes to the CSS I quickly find that I break the layout. My feeling is that it is very hard to get a feel for how all the CSS will work together and indeed what CSS is affecting parent and sibling elements in the HTML. So, my question is "what are the best-practices around re-skinning an existing web-site by replacing the CSS only and not modifying the existing HTML?" I can't change the classes, ids, node hierarchy, etc. An example of the particular site that I am trying to re-skin is http://demo.nopcommerce.com/. Restful Services, oData, and Rest Sharp

After a great presentation by Jason Sheehan at MDC about RestSharp, I decided to implement it. RestSharp is a .Net framework for consuming restful data sources via either Json or XML. My first step was to put together a Restful data source for RestSharp to consume. Staying entirely withing .Net, I decided to use Microsoft's oData implementation, built on System.Data.Services.DataServices. Natively, these support Json, or atom+pub xml. (XML with a few bells and whistles added on) There are three main steps for creating an oData data source: 1) override CreateDSPMetaData This is where the metadata data is returned. The meta data defines the structure of the data to return. The structure contains the relationships between data objects, along with what properties the objects expose. The meta data can and should be somehow cached so that the structure is not rebuild with every data request. 2) override CreateDataSource The context contains the data the data source will publish. Three main options are available for defining the MetaData of data sources in .Net: 1) Generate Entity Data model (Potentially directly from SQL Server database). This requires the least amount of manual interaction, and uses the edmx WYSIWYG editor to generate a data model. This can be directly tied to the SQL Server database and generated from the database if you want a data access layer tightly coupled with your database. 2) Object model decorations. If you already have a POCO data layer, you can decorate your objects with properties to statically inform the compiler how the objects are related. The disadvantage is there are now tags strewn about your business layer that need to be updated as the business rules change. 3) Programmatically construct metadata object. This is the object illustrated above in CreateDSPMetaData. This puts all relationship information into one central programmatic location. Here business rules are constructed when the DSPMetaData response object is returned. Once you have your service up and running, RestSharp is designed for XML / Json, along with the native Microsoft library. There are currently some differences between how Jason made RestSharp expect XML with how atom+pub works, so I found better results currently with the Json implementation - modifying the RestSharp XML parser to make an atom+pub parser is fairly trivial though, so use what implementation works best for you. I put together a sample console app which calls the RestSvcImpl.svc service defined above (and assumes it to be running on port 2000). ContentType DocumentTemplate not found in a List

Everything's shiny. But, I hit the back button two times so I'm back in the settings of the List Content Type. This time when I click Advance settings, the URL of the existing document template is still MeetingMinutes.docx, but there is no (Edit Template) link. Troubling. Pressing on, I go back to AllItems.aspx and click New Meeting Minutes. As Word is loading, I see a little Opening dialog which says, Opening: http://myserver/sites/testsite/Shared%20Documents/Forms/Document/MeetingMinutes.docx, to which Word responds: "Word was unable to read this document. It may be corrupt." So the Document Template works correctly in the Site Content Type (where it does me no good), but is not working in the List Content Type (where I really need it). Now, I know I could put this in _layouts, but from what I've read, _cts is the way to do it. What am I doing wrong?

Glassfish v2 alternatedocroot - will DAS sync it?

Using Sun Glassfish Enterprise server v2.1.1 I am using "alternatedocroot" via sun-web.xml for my web application to abstract out static content from actual deploy-able code (EAR/WAR) What I have is a cluster of two server instances distributed across two physical hosts - HOST1 and HOST2. "alternatedocroot" points to /data/static-content/ on both HOST1 and HOST2. Would DAS (Domain application server )take care of syncing /data/static-content between HOST1 and HOST2 if I use syncinstances=true option while starting up the cluster? Thanks!

Problem binding action parameters using FCKeditor, AJAX and ASP.NET MVC

I have a simple ASP.Net MVC View which contains an FCKeditor text box (created using FCKeditor's Javascript ReplaceTextArea() function). If the Ajax form is submitted again a second time (without further changes) the testBox paramater correctly contains the actual contents of the FCKeditor. If I use a Html.TextArea without replacing with FCKeditor it works correctly, and if I use a standard Post form submit inplace of AJAX all works as expected. Am I doing something wrong? If not is there a suitable/straight-forward workaround for this problem?

September 2012 Release of the Ajax Control Toolkit

I’m excited to announce the September 2012 release of the Ajax Control Toolkit! This is the first release of the Ajax Control Toolkit which supports the .NET 4.5 framework. We also continue to support ASP.NET 3.5 and ASP.NET 4.0. With this release, we’ve made several important bug fixes. The Superexpert team focused on fixing the highest voted issues associated with the CascadingDropDown control. I’ve created a list of these bug fixes later in this blog post. You can download the latest release of the Ajax Control Toolkit by visiting the following page at CodePlex: http://AjaxControlToolkit.CodePlex.com Alternatively, you can install the latest version of the Ajax Control Toolkit using NuGet by firing off the following command from the Package Manager Console: Install-Package AjaxControlToolkit Using the Ajax Control Toolkit with ASP.NET 4.5 Let me walk through the steps for using the Ajax Control Toolkit with ASP.NET 4.5. First, I’ll create a new ASP.NET 4.5 website with Visual Studio 2012. I’ll create the new website with the ASP.NET Web Forms Application template: When you create a new ASP.NET 4.5 site with the ASP.NET Web Forms Application template, you get a starter website. If you run the site, then you get a page with default content: Let me show you how you can add the Ajax Control Toolkit Calendar control to the homepage of this starter site. The first step is to use NuGet to install the Ajax Control Toolkit. Right-click the References folder in the Solution Explorer window and select the menu option Manage NuGet Packages. In the Manage NuGet Packages dialog, use the search box to search for the Ajax Control Toolkit (enter “AjaxControlToolkit”). After you find it, click the Install button to add the Ajax Control Toolkit to your project. That’s all you have to do to install the Ajax Control Toolkit! Now we are ready to start using the Ajax Control Toolkit controls. Open the default.aspx page so we can modify the contents of the page. Erase everything contained in the Content control with the ID of BodyContent. We did not remove that reference when we converted the ScriptManager to a ToolkitScriptManager. You can use the Ajax Control Toolkit and jQuery side-by-side. Here’s how you can modify the Default.aspx page so that it contains two popup calendars. Our primary focus during this sprint was fixing issues with the CascadingDropDown control. We fixed the following issues associated with the CascadingDropDown: · 9490 – Don’t disable dropdowns in CascadingDropDown · 14223 – CascadingDropDown Reset or Setting SelectedValue from WebMethod · 12189 – CascadingDropDown not obeying disabled state of DropDownList · 22942 – CascadingDropDown infinite loop (with solution) · 8671 – CascadingDropdown options is null or undefined · 14407 – CascadingDropDown: populated client event happens too often · 17148 – CascadingDropDown – Add “UseHttpGet” property · 10221 – No NotNull check in CascadingDropDown · 12228 – Provide property for case-insensitive DefaultValue lookup in CascadingDropdown We also fixed the following two issues which are not directly related to the CascadingDropDown control: · 27108 – CalendarExtender: Bug when selecting December shifts to January. · 27041 – Input controls with HTML5 types do not post back in Firefox, Chrome, Safari Finally, we integrated several Pull Requests submitted by the community (Thank you community!): · Added French localized resources for the AjaxFileUpload · Resolved an issue which prevented the AjaxFileUpload control from working with pages that require query string variables. · Extended the AjaxFileUploadEventArgs class to include the current file index in the queue and the total number of files in the queue. · Fixed an issue with TabContainer and TabPanel which caused the OnActiveTabChanged event to fire too often. Summary I’m happy to see the Ajax Control Toolkit move forward into the brave new world of ASP.NET 4.5! In this latest release, we focused on ensuring that the Ajax Control Toolkit works smoothly with ASP.NET 4.5 applications. Databind gridview with LINQ

I have two database tables, one for Users of a web site, containing the fields "UserID", "Name" and the foreign key "PageID". And the other with the fields "PageID" (here the primary key), and "Url". I want to be able to show the data in a gridview with data from both tables, and I'd like to do it with databinding in the aspx page. I'm not sure how to do this, though, and I can't find any good examples of this particular situation. So how do I put some sort of "where" constraint on dropdown for each row to only show the pages for the user in that row? (Also, to be honest I'm not sure I'm getting the foreign key relationship right, because I'm not too used to working with relationships). EDIT: I think I have set up the relationship incorrectly. I keep getting the message that "Pages" doesn't exist as a property on the User object. And I guess it can't since the relationship right now is one way. So I tried to create a many-to-many relationship. Again, my database knowledge is a bit limited, but I added a so called "junction table" with the fields UserID and PageID, same as the other tables' primary keys. I wasn't able to make both of these primary keys in the junction table though (which it looked like some people had in examples I've seen...but since it wasn't possible I guessed they shouldn't be). Anyway, I created a relationship from each table and created new LINQ classes from that. But then what do I do? I set the junction table as the Linq data source, since I guessed I had to do this to access both tables, but that doesn't work. Then it complains there is no Name property on that object. So how do I access the related tables? Compile time Meta-programming, with string literals.

I'm writing some code which could really do with some simple compile time metaprogramming. It is common practise to use empty-struct tags as compile time symbols. I need to decorate the tags with some run-time config elements. static variables seem the only way to go (to enable meta-programming), however static variables require global declarations. to side step this Scott Myers suggestion (from the third edition of Effective C++), about sequencing the initialization of static variables by declaring them inside a function instead of as class variables, came to mind. So I came up with the following code, my hypothesis is that it will let me have a compile-time symbols with string literals use-able at runtime.
