• In Linux, are there any plug-ins to let me do `<Win>`+`<Num>` style app switching (like Windows 7's superbar)?

  Using Windows 7's superbar, I can select/launch the 2nd application group by <Win>+<2>. We have DockbarX in GNOME, which is nice (grouping the windows like Windows 7), but it doesn't enable the <Win>+<2> style keybaord shortcuts. Any suggestions? This is not restricted to making Linux like Windows. But I just find the <Win>+<2> style shortcut very useful. Are there similar ways in Linux to quickly switch between specific apps without pressing <Alt>+<Tab> many many times?

• In a web app, is it wise to give log files ".txt" suffix?

  I am building a logging mechanism in a web application. Being a Windows man, I tend to give files with textual content the .txt ending. The suffix is automatically registered to be opened in a text editor in any Windows environment, and is just a nice convention. The app is going to be redistributed, and running mostly on Linux, though. The Linux convention for log files is .log. Is there any good reason on the Linux end, besides convention, why I should use .log? Any filters, real-life applications that could become relevant and that will work only with a .log suffix? Or can I merrily call it error_log.txt?

• Facebook Iframe App in Safari links to home page. Works OK in other Browsers.

  I have a facebook iframe that has several php files in it. In all tested browsers (IE,FFOX,Chrome) the links on the header work fine and go to the php files inside the iframe. When I tried this on Safari the links are reloading the whole app inside the iframe. Is like a recursive call because Its not like im having the home page reloaded inside the iframe but the whole facebook page WITH the iframe.. reloaded inside my iframe. The links are called using javascript with document.location.href="myPage.php"; Tryed placing target "_self" inside the link but this turned out weird : the iframe page was placed on top of everything, as if I had specified "_parent" on the target. Any help?

  Hi guys, I'm very new to facebook platform. I developed an iframe app. which after allowing permsiions, opens the application on my server and not in facebook iframe. I hope i'm clear. I'm using $user = $facebook-require_login(). I read somewhere that adding $facebook-require_frame() would help but it didn't help. The page reloads with new access token on each reload.   I think there are a few similar questions that seem to suggest using app_data in the signed request (http://developers.facebook.com/docs/authentication/signed_request/) but I'm not sure if it will be possible to do what I am trying to achieve with it as I've never used it before. If I have my Facebook 'Tab' Url as follows: http://www.facebook.com/pages/PAGE_TITLE/PAGE_ID?sk=app_APP_ID What I want to do is add an extra parameter on the end as follows: &WT.mc_id=email-uk-8014 The reason for this is for tracking purposes and links will be sent out of the form http://www.facebook.com/pages/PAGE_TITLE/PAGE_ID?sk=app_APP_ID&WT.mc_id=email-uk-8014 and the extra parameter will allow us to track the campaign id. As you can see I have no way of knowing the value of the parameter beforehand as it depends on the link clicked by the user so is it possible to somehow get the value of the WT.mc_id parameter inside my iframe app?

• Business Objects Web Intelligence-style reporting in a Winform app. Is this possible?

  I have a WinForm app that displays results in a Gridview control. If a user right mouse clicks on a row, he can then, from a popup menu, select a command to perform on the row much like windows File Explorer. But now I want to be able to give the user the ability to construct a filter so that he can control which rows are displayed in the grid w/o effecting the functionality of the application. I would also like the user to be able to select the columns/fields that he sees in the grid. For the basis of this question, let's assume that the data displayed in grid comes from a single table. business Objects' Web Intelligence and Desktop Intelligence applications give me very flexible and powerful reporting capabilities, but I want to integrate this capability into my WinForm application. Does Business Objects, or maybe Crystal Reports provide this sort of functionality? I can construct my own query builder but I'd rather not reinvent sliced bread.

• Still waiting! WPF issue: Showing HTML <DIV> on top of WPF app

  Hi, I am new to WPF. We are facing one issue. We are showing/launching a WPF browser application from an web (ASPX) application. The web application has a navigator menu with drop-downs (on hover). It works fine till the user is using the web application (aspx pages). But once the WPF application is launched (and is in the foreground on the aspx page) the dropdown menus that are on top of the WPF app is shown below the WPF application. The drop downs are in a <div> and we tried to put the ZINDEX value. But could not get any positive reply. Can somebody help?

  I m a graphic designer and have created a website in Joomla that uses a "lightbox" (ignite gallery) plugin to view images from the site. I have created a facebook 'website' app that allows for comments to be posted via facebook in the lightbox (also a like button) - all of which are really just options that you allow in the ignite gallery options. Everything seems to work fine, I can comment and it will appear under the photo in the lightbox, as I asked it too, it also sends a copy of the comment to the commenter's facebook page with links. How do I also get the comments from the website (lightbox plugin) to also appear on the clients "fan page" that already exists?? Much appreciate any help..

The update fixes, among other things: Windows Explorer may stop responding for 30 seconds when a file or a directory is created or renamed after certain applications are installed. i'm not experiencing it on my own Windows 7 machine, but two colleagues at work were experiencing the problem. i would really like to know what applications were causing problems. Microsoft will never call out the misbehaving applications. i want to know what software i should be ridiculing and insulting. And avoid in the future. Did anyone who was experiencing this problem isolate the applications?

• What is the correct root file to import to aptana from an xampp folder/existing web app or git repository?

Overview: I'm taking over an existing wep project that has been developed in aptana and deployed in xampp setup - I also have access to Git repository on local directory. I want to import the web application into aptana, run it and begin updating/editing - bit of steep learning curve for me What is the best way to import? And what should I import? What should it look like in aptanan? I tried importing what I think is the root file from the git folder ("existing folder as new project")- it contains things like css, doc, img and js.   All I can see is the sender's name, and if I reply, the message is to the "reply-to" address, not necessarily the email address of the sender. If I hit the circle beside the name, I can see the email address if they are not a contact; otherwise, I just see their contact profile, which does not specify the email address from which the message was sent.

  I was thinking about making a little crop/resize batch processor online, and wanted to know if there was a way for me to do the following: upload image and specify dimensions click "process" and app resizes image image downloads automatically to wherever it was I uploaded it (say from my desktop), but with a new name (based on the time for example). This would make it so I could host a free image processor that never stored any data other than tempfiles. Is that possible? Something like Rails' send_file method, but I'm using Sinatra and am looking for something in pure ruby.

• where do i put html files in my web-app folder for a lift project with maven?

  I'm new to Lift framework for scala. For some reason, index.html resides in the web-app directory, and when I start up jetty, http://localhost:8080/ will point to that index.html file just fine. However, if I put a login.html file in the same folder as the index.html, and then go http://localhost:8080/login, Lift does not serve the file. Where do I need to put the files to get them register? I am a little lost because the behaviour only seems to work for index.html and nothing else. • Dynamic domain methods missing from grails service when injected into java service in grails app.

  I had the idea that I would write my GroovyDao as a grails service. Next I would write a MyJavaService in java and locate it in the java sources dir in my grails app. MyJavaService contains a instance reference to groovyDao for spring injection. I would wire up in resources.groovy the MyJavaService with a groovyDao = ref("GroovyDao"). Everything starts up fine. However if I make call to MyJavaService any Domain method like Domain.list() returns a Method not found error. Any help is appreciated.

• My iPhone App don't works in iOS 4. Why?

But a few days ago I downloaded the last version of the iPhone SDK for iOS 4, the proyect Build ok, no erros, no warnings, but when I run the aplication the video didnt work, the image didn't load but sound works.
