• Marionette multi user/roles application

  I have to build a pretty complex application using Backbone Marionette. The user interface has to handle multiple users with different roles. For example the 'admin' user will see the complete menu whereas the 'guest' user will access a subset of the same menu. Moreover some views will be accessible to all the users but the functions inside them (add, edit, delete) need to be profiled on the different roles. I am not sure about the right approach to use in order to solve this issue. I could have different templates for the different roles but in this case plenty of code will be duplicated inside them. Is there any best practice (or maybe some example) to sort my problem out using Marionette? Thanks in advance, Fabrizio

• Application Runs when Debugging but not when Published.

  When publishing my web application and then running it will return the error "Could not load file or assembly 'BaseApplicationName' or one of its dependencies. An attempt was made to load a program with an incorrect format." However if I run the application through debugging (f5) it runs correctly. I guess what it comes down to is what differences are there when running an application through debugging vs publishing it that would cause a problem like this? When publising I have it set to delete all existing. History of how it started... I added the 32 bit Oracle.DataAccess dll to my 64 bit system. It would not work and crash giving the same error as above but with the Oracle.DataAccess name instead of the baseApplicationName. I have since removed all references to it and removed the dll to try and get it to run without it once again. Any advice?

  Hi, I entered some products data into a table using a migration. I need to expire the page and fragment cache when I update, add, delete products from this table. When I reload my app in the browser it still gives me a cache hit. Cached fragment hit: views/listed_products (0.2ms) Can someone tell me how to expire this cache. • How to replace master branch in git, entirely, from another branch?

  Hi, I have two branch in my git repo: master seotweaks (created originally from master) I created "seotweaks" with the intention of quickly merging it back into master, however that was 3 months ago and the code in this branch is 13 versions ahead of "master", it has effectively become our working master branch as all the code in "master" is more or less obsolete now. Very bad practice I know, lesson learnt. Do you know how I can replace all of the contents of the "master" branch with those in "seotweaks"? I could just delete everything in "master" and merge, but this does not feel like best practice.

• YAGNI and database creation scripts

  Right now, I have code which creates the database (just a few CREATE queries on a SQLite database) in my main database access class. This seems unnecessary as I have no intention of ever using the code. I would just need it if something went wrong and I needed to recreate the database. Should I... Leave things as they are, even though the database creation code is about a quarter of my file size. Move the database-creation code to a separate script. It's likely I'll be running it manually if I ever need to run it again anyway, and that would put it out-of-sight-out-of-mind while working on the main code. Delete the database-creation code and rely on revision control if I ever find myself needing it again.

• Unlock a file with unlocker from a c# App?

  I am trying to unlock a file from a C# program, using unlocker. In my UI, I put a button to unlock the file the app couldn't delete. When the user pushes the button, I want unlocker (the famous app) to be opened. I have read about in the Unlocker web, and there is some explanations about the commandline to use but nothing works. I write the following code but nothing happens: "c:\Program Files\unlocker\unlocker.exe" -L "PATHFORTHEFILE.doc" Nothing happens. I have tried without parameters and with -LU. Any idea? Something more efficient than unlocker to integrate it with software?

• xcode - warning there's no getter/setter for property not even mentioned in the code!!

  I got the warning : property 'textField' requires method '-textField' to be defined - use @synthesize, @dynamic or provide a method implementation. Now, there is no such property defined in my project! More bizarre, if I just click save in Interface builder and build again, the build is successful - though, right on the line with '@end' the warning appears. Also weird: if I begin to write some code ..and then delete it just the way it was before writing it (maybe not code..anything) and then build&go the warning with the textField appears again. Could be a bug of sdk? What could be happening?

• Using entity framework to detect changes in related table and action appropriate inserts and deletes

  Lets say i have a Person table, a Role table with a trel table PersonRoles linking them as many to many. I create a new person and assign them to 2 roles (role 1, role 3). I then want to edit this person; so i retrieve their data and bind their roles to a checkboxes. I change the values (Deselect role 1 and select role 2 instead) I then post this data back through a viewmodel. Can i then get Entity Framework to update these roles for me, as in delete the entry in PersonRoles to role 1 and then add a new entry as role 2? Or do i have to do the logic for this myself? • Could not see memory being released on closing MFC modal dialog that hosts wpf user control using HW

  This is in continuation with my last question posted "Continuous Memory leak while using WpfHWndSource" I have to load an WPF User Control in an MFC Modal Dialog that is being invoked from the ocx control. For this I have created a MFC Regular Dll(Mixed Mode Regular dll with clr option enabled), I have created a modal dialog which will host wpf user control using HWndSource. This exported dialog is placed as a child Dialog of the above MFC dialog that is being invoked from the ocx. Ny intermediate dialog uses C++/Cli code. When the main MFC dialog is closed, I am deleteing the ptr reference of the intermediate dialog created on the heap. In the the dipose of the .Net User Control, I have set most of the references that I have created to null, unsubscribed to the events (to avoid weak refernces), unbinded from the propertes(by using clear binding). Called delete on the HwndSource and the user control(which basically calls the dispose method). But I do not see complete memory being released. Any help would be greatful.

• Are the built-in images in iPhone documented, and is there a list of their names somewhere?

  I discovered somewhat by accident that if you make a UIButton in Interface Builder and type in Plus in the image field, a + image appears for the button. A similar result comes from typing Minus. I am wondering if this is a bug, or if there is some way the poor programmers can access the built-in general GUI images from other apple apps, such as the green +, the red -, the detail disclosure chevron, the big red "Delete Contact" or similarly styled button, etc. Has anyone else encountered this, or know where to access these things in Xcode? It makes sense to me that they should be usable, cause the Apple HIG seems to be all about making things recognizable and intuitive, and using them the way other apps use them.

  I would like to know how we can create different "user Roles" for different users in PHP. example: Administrator can create all types of users, add, view, manipulate data, delete managers, viewers, and workers, etc managers can only create, workers and viewers, can add and view data, workers can't create new users, but can only add data and view data, viewers can only view data that has been added to the DB by workers, managers and administrators. I though its better to use different sessions like : $_SESSION['admin'] $_SESSION['manager'] $_SESSION['worker'] $_SESSION['viewvers'] and for every page check which of them have a true or yes value, but I want to know how do they do it in real and big projects??? is there any other way???

• How to stop GHC from generating intermediate files?

  When compiling a haskell source file via ghc --make foo.hs GHC always leaves behind a variety of intermediate files other than foo.exe. These are foo.hi and foo.o. I often end up having to delete the .hi and .o files to avoid cluttering up the folders. Is there a command line option for GHC not to leave behind its intermediate files? (When asked on #haskell, the best answer I got was ghc --make foo.hs && rm foo.hi foo.o.

• irritating TortoiseSVN error - file or directory is corrupted and chkdsk at boot

  Can't move 'D:\Documents\Websites\blah.svn\tmp\entries' to 'D:\ ... .svn\entries': The file or directory is corrupted and unreadable. Any thoughts on what would cause this? This usually happens when trying to commit a large number of new files. Sometimes an update fixes it but most of the time I have to delete the offending directory, re-download it, and attempt to add or update it again. EDIT: it seems my pc always wanting to chkdsk as boot is related.

My question is, do I still need to execute the oTS.Complete() call at the end of the using block even if this transaction scope was not built for the purpose of bridging object dependencies across 2 databases during an Insert, Update, or Delete? • XCode 4.3 : XIB files and localisation

  I have a problem with XIB Files and localizations (Xcode 4.3, Mac Os X 10.7.4) My application supports french and english localizations. For my test, i decided to change the languages and regions from "french" to "english" in system preferences. When i launch my application, it displays always old XIB files (french) et not the XIB files "attached" to my new localization ! ** I followed all the recommendations which i was able to find : i cleared all caches, clean up the project, ... and so on ! The problem is always here and persists. Can be that XCode4 has the other files to delete somewhere else ? is it possible to use another means to test my new localization ? If you are a idea, ...   I'm trying to implement a system whereby the user is initially presented with a single tablecell, in a uitableview (grouped style), within a uinavigationview. --------------- + | add record | --------------- When they click on the cell, they are pushed onto a new screen where they fill in a few textviews (perhaps imbedded in a tableview's cells) --------------- | (name) | --------------- | (phone num) | --------------- Then when they go back, they can see the new record as well as the 'add record' cell. --------------- | record 1 | --------------- + | add record | --------------- (When they go into record 1 again there would be a delete button) Is there any sample code or libraries which would achieve this? What about InAppSettingsKit? It's more the presentation I'm concerned with. I can handle the saving of data myself.

• editButtonItem set but no minus buttons?

  My edit button is placed in viewDidLoad: self.navigationItem.rightBarButtonItem = self.editButtonItem; It shows up correctly on the nav bar, and tapping this button indeed change it to Done. However, no minus buttons show up in my table rows. Swiping a row, then tap Delete works, though. Any ideas? • Scrolling a Div programatically using say Javascript

  Hi I have a jqgrid which is embedded in a Div. I am deleting records from the grid and reloading the grid using grid.Trigger('reload'). The width of the grid is considerably high so it has a scroll bar. Now I scrolled through the end of the grid horizontally before deleting records. Each time I delete the records and reload the grid, the column headers and their values are slightly misaligned. When I move the scroll bar back to original position or just move the scroll bar slightly they are aligned properly. So I thought its better to move the scroll bar to its inital position when the grid reloads. How can a scroll bar be programatically moved using javascript. Or is there any other way to solve my problem?

• iPhone UI: No edit button for UITableView, bad idea?

  I have a UITableViewController which lets the user drill down into different records. On the second level/view, the user can add and edit new records. But, I am not sure what to do, since the back button is on the top left, and I need to put the "Add" button on the top right, so there is no room (keeping to HIG) for the edit button, which would normally go where the back button is. (I am using a tab bar, so can't put it at the bottom.) Do you think that it is logical, to expect users to know to swipe to delete a record? Or, do I need to have an edit button? If I DO need an edit button, where should I put it if I am following HIG?

• JSF - Session Bean restart on logout and login

  Hi, I have a web application with a backing bean which has the context of the current logged in user. It is implemented on JSF. When the user logs out he is forwarded to a login screen (in another JSP page). I would like the current session to be erased when that happens and a new one to be created the next time the user logs in and enters the application. My question is - how do you delete a session? (I guess the new session will be created automatically the next time the user enters the link) This is kinda newb i guess, but I couldn't find a solution for this. Thanks for the Help!
