  • jQuery selector to target any CSS name (of multiple present) starting with a prefix?

    I'm considering one selection statement that would target one of many css class names in a single class attribute value based on a string prefix. For example, I want any detail- prefixed class names to get targeted from the following sample links. <a href="eg.html" class="detail-1 pinkify another"> <a href="eg.html" class="something detail-55 minded"> <a href="eg.html" class="swing narrow detail-Z"> <a href="eg.html" class="swing narrow detail-Z detail-88 detail-A"> It's reminiscent of how [class|="detail"] prefix selector works on a scalar attribute value, and also of .hasClass(className), but my question needs both concepts applied simultaneously. Note: The detail- prefix won't necessarily be the first class name of the bunch.

  • As a CS major, should I take more EE courses?

    I have taken enough cs courses to know that I'm not interested in hardware. I'm much more interested in programing for the web. Now, I'm nearing the end of my degree, and I'm presented with the option to take some higher level EE courses than the intro I took freshman year. Are there any real-world-job-boosting reasons I should take more EE course? Any courses in particular that people think would be helpful?

  • Why does my ConfirmButtonExtender cause full postbacks after I've toggled its parent usercontrol's v

    Hello all, I have a series of usercontrols on a page that are displayed based on a selection. Each usercontrol contains a Delete button with a ConfirmButton/ModalPopupExtender combo attached to it. This works great when first loading any of the usercontrols--clicking delete shows my Confirm Modal popup and hitting yes or no causes an async postback to perform the operation. But if I move away from the usercontrol and come back to it, the Confirm Modal Popup appears but clicking yes or no now causes a full postback (the operation does still take place). Why does changing the visible property cause this?

    Hi All, I need the snipped code in C# to mantain selected the row from a datagridview after that row is double clicked. Right now I'm displaying data from a dataset and the selection mode is FullRowSelect. Any way to set this? There are two scenarios to deal with: 1) Everytime the timer ticks the selected row always go to the first row of datagridview. 2) Once a row is clicked, it is selected but after the timer ticks the selected row goes to the first one. Copy and paste works fine but everytime I press "Crtl + C" the item starting with the letter C is automatically selected.   • iPhone Tab Bar App With Registration View

    Hi! I'm a relative newbie on iPhone app development but have successfully created a tab bar app with 4 tab bar items. I would like to have a one-off registration page for users to key-in information when they open the application for the first time. The registration page should load before the view with the selection of tab bar items loads. What is the best way to do this? Also, how do I load a UIView or UIWebView before the tab bar items load?     I need to come with a strategy to use gather information about the health of my linux platform, hardware health such as high CPU temperature and may be disk space usage, etc... I know my examples are not very good ones. Essentially, I have an SNMP agent running on Linux and I need it to provide platform specific health and state information. Are there any Linux packages that do this, what MIBs to use, Dell Open Manager functionality??? Any thoughts and comments are appreciated.

  • Fonts in a multi-platform environment

    What is the best way to deal with fonts in a multi-platform distributed system? If I want to use a common font across all systems to show to the user, what's the best way to do this. From the little I've been reading each platform looks to have fonts that are of the same family (ie serif, sans-serif) but with different names. CSS looks to have the functionality baked in where it will make the best selection it can of font on the users machine. Is there similar functionality either in system libraries or external libraries for Windows & Linux. I'm using C++ mainly? Can someone point me in the right direction for documentation as well?   • SSRS run SQL/DataSet conditionally

    Hello.... I have an SSRS report that contains several subreports. The user has the ability to select/deselect which subreports they want to produce using several Boolean parameters. If a subreport is deselected then it is not rendered by setting the Visibility property. However, the DataSet associated with the de-selected subreport still executes causing the execution time to take longer than expected. Is there any way to tell a dataset on a subreport or Tablix not to execute based on a Parameter selection? Thanks

    I'm trying to figure out a way to display custom text based on the users selection of the variable product. The attribute is 'pricing' and the tag is deposit - which I've added a text description to when adding the attribute. So I'm trying to make this text appear when the user selects 'deposit' But the code I'm using in 'content-single-product.php' is displaying the text all the time no matter what variable is selected or not. <?php $my_taxonomy = 'pa_pricing'; $terms = wp_get_post_terms( $post->ID, $my_taxonomy ); echo term_description($terms[0]->term_id, $my_taxonomy); ?> I only want the text to be displayed after the user has selected pricing 'deposit' Can someone help me with this?

  • Designing operation (a,b) -> (c,d)

    I have an operation that I need to design. That operation takes two objects of a certain class X, and returns two new objects of the same class (I may need the originals later). The logic that dictates the selection of this object is contained in class Y. On one hand, I don't want class Y to know details about class X implementation; on the other, I don't want class X to know details about selecting the different objects to perform this operation on. If that was all the problem, I'd just create a static method on class A. However, the methods in language I'm working on return only one object. Also, the operation needs to be robust, and calling operation two times to get C and D respectively isn't possible, as both C & D both rely on a single random number. How should I design such operation? Update: I'm using Obejctive C.

  • Pick an image from the Gallery

    I have seen a lot of posts about this, and it seems like the code below should work. I have created an SD Card image and added it to the emulator (and that works fine). Intent intent = new Intent(Intent.ACTION_PICK); intent.setType("image/*"); //intent.setAction(Intent.ACTION_GET_CONTENT); startActivityForResult(intent, 1); It does launch and allow selection of images, but when I click on an image, everything exits and the emulator returns to the home screen, not the back to my app. My onActivityResult is never called either. What am I missing?

    I am evaluating user inputs as commands for my application. If the user presses Q, or q, and then hits enter, the application quits and execution terminates. Is there a proper context, or best practices on how to do that? I do not have any resources to release, or anything like that. Should I just use System.exit(0);? Is there a recommended way to do that?     I came up with the below query: SELECT ROOMNO,BUILDINGNO FROM MRM_ROOM_DETAILS WHERE ROOMID IN ( SELECT distinct roomid FROM MRM_BOOKING_DETAILS WHERE (CHECKIN NOT BETWEEN '2012-04-13 09:50:00' AND '2012-04-13 10:20:00') AND (CHECKOUT NOT BETWEEN '2012-04-13 09:50:00' AND '2012-04-13 10:20:00')) AND CAPACITY > 15 AND PROJECTIONSTATUS = 'NO'; I need to place this query in the method SQLiteDatabase.query() and fetch the rows accordingly. I am not able to understand how to place this big where condition (which contains a sub-query as well) in place of the "String selection" i.e. 3rd parameter of the method. Shall i simple write the entire where part(including the sub-query) as a string in the 3rd parameter or else there is some other better way for doing the same?     I have noticed a strange Sql Translation in a LinqToSql Query I was trying to optimise. If I execute the following Recipients.GroupJoin( RecipientAttributes, x => x.Recipient_Id, y => y.Recipient_Id, (x,y) => new {Recipient = x, Attributes = y}) .Skip(1) .Take(1000) It executes in a single query as expected. However Recipients.GroupJoin( RecipientAttributes, x => x.Recipient_Id, y => y.Recipient_Id, (x,y) => new {Recipient = x, Attributes = y}) .Skip(0) .Take(1000) executes in a separate query for each Attributes selection. Removing the Skip(0) makes no difference either. Can anyone explain this and is there something I can do to get the first page query executing in a single sql statement?

The application I'm working with loads one of the libraries at runtime based on some hardware parameters. Unfortunately one of the libraries is configured largely with global variables. I am already using dlsym to load function references but can I used dlsym to load references to these global variables as well?
