  • Java update alert: issue with EAS 11.1.2.3

    - by inowodwo
    (in via Nancy) Customers using EPM 11.1.2.3 and a web browser to launch the Essbase Administration Services Console will lose the ability to launch EAS Console via the Web URL if they apply Java 1.7 build 45. Development is currently investigating this issue. Workaround: If Java 1.7 Update 45 has been installed, it will need to be uninstalled and a previous version will need to be installed. Older versions of Java are available in the Java Archive Note: Though it may work, Java 1.7 is not supported in previous versions of EAS. Customers running a version of EAS Console prior to 11.1.2.3 need to install the supported version of JRE. Follow this in the Community

  • How do I revoke access to java applet on OSX when there's an error in the control panel.

    - by Marc Hughes
    I can't access the screenr.com java applet on my mac. Poking around the java preferences, I saw an odd entry with a red circle (I assume that means to deny access?) for it in the security section. When I highlight that entry and hit the remove button, I get an error, as seen in this screenshot: https://img.skitch.com/20110114-ktq714darqdckub92s3cqucr9s.jpg Is there somewhere I can go on the filesystem to clear out all of these? Other solution?

  • Migrating Spring to Java EE 6 Article Series at OTN - Part 3

    - by arungupta
    The spring season is characterized by migration of birds, whales, butterflies, frogs, and other animals for different reasons. If you use Spring framework and are interested in migrating to a standards-based Java EE platform, for whatever reason, then we have a solution for you. David Heffelfinger's, a renowned author and an ardent Java EE fan, has published third part of Spring to Java EE migration series at OTN. The article series takes a typical Spring application and shows how to migrate it to Java EE 6 using NetBeans. This new part builds upon part 1 and part 2 and also compares the generated WAR files and LoC in XML configuration in the two environments. There is an interesting discussion on Why Java EE 6 over Spring ? as well.

  • Java.net Reborn

    - by Tori Wieldt
    Java.net, the home of  Java community projects, has been re-launched with a new look and new tools for developers.  The move from CollabNet to the Kenai infrastructure offers more flexibility for developers who want to host or contribute to community projects.  Instead of the large, fixed infrastructure per project (for example, several mailing lists per project), Kenai's ala carte features allow users to take only what they need. "We will continue to have the great mix of blogs, forums, and editorial content as well as new tools on the project side, including Mercurial, Git, and JIRA for developers," Java.net Community Manager Sonya Barry explains. The migration was huge effort. Over 1400 projects were migrated (and some 30 projects are left to go). A large part of the migration was a big cleanup of abandoned projects. With the high abandonment rate of open source projects, the was a lot to remove. The new java.net site is smaller, faster and now the percentage of good, current content is much higher.Check it out at http://home.java.net/

  • Java EE @ NFJS Central Iowa Software Symposium Des Moines

    - by reza_rahman
    As some of you may be aware I recently joined the well-respected US based No Fluff Just Stuff (NFJS) Tour. The NFJS Central Iowa Software Symposium was held August 8 - 10 in Des Moines. The Des Moines show is one of the smaller ones but still was good overall. It is one of the few events of it's kind that take place this part the country so it is extremely important. I had five talks total over two days, more or less back-to-back. I had decent attendance for all my sessions and had many of the same folks staying for multiple sessions which is always a very good sign. I did talks on Java EE 7/Java EE 8, WebSocket, the Cargo Tracker Java EE Blue Prints, JavaScript + Java EE and NoSQL + Java EE. More details, including slide decks and code as well as my NFJS tour schedule, posted on my personal blog.

  • Casting interfaces in java

    - by owca
    I had two separate interfaces, one 'MultiLingual' for choosing language of text to return, and second 'Justification' to justify returned text. Now I need to join them, but I'm stuck at 'java.lang.ClassCastException' error. Class Book is not important here. Data.length and FormattedInt.width correspond to the width of the line. The code : public interface MultiLingual { static int ENG = 0; static int PL = 1; String get(int lang); int setLength(int length); } class Book implements MultiLingual { private String title; private String publisher; private String author; private int jezyk; public Book(String t, String a, String p, int y){ this(t, a, p, y, 1); } public Book(String t, String a, String p, int y, int lang){ title = t; author = a; publisher = p; jezyk = lang; } public String get(int lang){ jezyk = lang; return this.toString(); } public int setLength(int i){ return 0; } @Override public String toString(){ String dane; if (jezyk == ENG){ dane = "Author: "+this.author+"\n"+ "Title: "+this.title+"\n"+ "Publisher: "+this.publisher+"\n"; } else { dane = "Autor: "+this.author+"\n"+ "Tytul: "+this.title+"\n"+ "Wydawca: "+this.publisher+"\n"; } return dane; } } class Data implements MultiLingual { private int day; private int month; private int year; private int jezyk; private int length; public Data(int d, int m, int y){ this(d, m, y, 1); } public Data(int d, int m, int y, int lang){ day = d; month = m; year = y; jezyk = lang; } public String get(int lang){ jezyk = lang; return this.toString(); } public int setLength(int i){ length = i; return length; } @Override public String toString(){ String dane=""; String miesiac=""; String dzien=""; switch(month){ case 1: miesiac="January"; case 2: miesiac="February"; case 3: miesiac="March"; case 4: miesiac="April"; case 5: miesiac="May"; case 6: miesiac="June"; case 7: miesiac="July"; case 8: miesiac="August"; case 9: miesiac="September"; case 10: miesiac="October"; case 11: miesiac="November"; case 12: miesiac="December"; } if(day==1){ dzien="st"; } if(day==2 || day==22){ dzien="nd"; } if(day==3 || day==23){ dzien="rd"; } else{ dzien="th"; } if(jezyk==ENG){ dane =this.day+dzien+" of "+miesiac+" "+this.year; } else{ dane = this.day+"."+this.month+"."+this.year; } return dane; } } interface Justification { static int RIGHT=1; static int LEFT=2; static int CENTER=3; String justify(int just); } class FormattedInt implements Justification { private int liczba; private int width; private int wyrownanie; public FormattedInt(int s, int i){ liczba = s; width = i; wyrownanie = 2; } public String justify(int just){ wyrownanie = just; String wynik=""; String tekst = Integer.toString(liczba); int len = tekst.length(); int space_left=width - len; int space_right = space_left; int space_center_left = (width - len)/2; int space_center_right = width - len - space_center_left -1; String puste=""; if(wyrownanie == LEFT){ for(int i=0; i<space_right; i++){ puste = puste + " "; } wynik = tekst+puste; } else if(wyrownanie == RIGHT){ for(int i=0; i<space_left; i++){ puste = puste + " "; } wynik = puste+tekst; } else if(wyrownanie == CENTER){ for(int i=0; i<space_center_left; i++){ puste = puste + " "; } wynik = puste + tekst; puste = " "; for(int i=0; i< space_center_right; i++){ puste = puste + " "; } wynik = wynik + puste; } return wynik; } } And the test code that shows this casting "(Justification)gatecrasher[1]" which gives me errors : MultiLingual gatecrasher[]={ new Data(3,12,1998), new Data(10,6,1924,MultiLingual.ENG), new Book("Sekret","Rhonda Byrne", "Nowa proza",2007), new Book("Tuesdays with Morrie", "Mitch Albom", "Time Warner Books",2003, MultiLingual.ENG), }; gatecrasher[0].setLength(25); gatecrasher[1].setLength(25); Justification[] t={ new FormattedInt(345,25), (Justification)gatecrasher[1], (Justification)gatecrasher[0], new FormattedInt(-7,25) }; System.out.println(" 10 20 30"); System.out.println("123456789 123456789 123456789"); for(int i=0;i < t.length;i++) System.out.println(t[i].justify(Justification.RIGHT)+"<----\n");

  • Java+DOM: How do I convert a DOM tree without namespaces to a namespace-aware DOM tree?

    - by java.is.for.desktop
    Hello, everyone! I receive a Document (DOM tree) from a certain API (not in JDK). Sadly, this Document is not namespace-aware. As far as I know DOM, once generated, namespace-awareness can't be "added" afterwards. When converting this Document using a Transformer to a string, the XML is correct. Elements have xmlns:... attributes and name prefixes. But from the DOM point of view, there are no namespaces and no prefixes. I need to be able to convert this Document into a new Document which is namespace-aware. Yes, I could do this by just converting it to a string and back to DOM with namespaces enabled. But: nodes of the original tree have user-objects set. Converting to string and back would make a mapping of these user-objects to the new Document very complicated, if not impossible. So I really need a way to convert non-namespace DOM to namespace DOM. Are there any more-or-less straightforward solutions for this? Worst case (what I'm hoping to avoid) would be to manually iterate through old Document tree and create new namespace-aware Node for each old Node. Doing so, one had to manually "parse" namespace prefixes, watch out for xmlns-attributes, and maintain a mapping between prefixes and namespace-URIs. Lots of things to go wrong.

  • Mouse wheel not scrolling in JDialog

    - by Iulian Serbanoiu
    Hello, I'm facing a frustrating issue. I have an application where the scroll wheel doesn't work in a JDialog class. Here's the code: import javax.swing.*; import java.awt.event.*; public class Failtest extends JFrame { public static void main(String[] args) { new Failtest(); } public Failtest() { super(); setDefaultCloseOperation(JFrame.DISPOSE_ON_CLOSE); setTitle("FRAME"); JScrollPane sp1 = new JScrollPane(getNewList()); add(sp1); setSize(150, 150); setVisible(true); JDialog d = new JDialog(this, false);// NOT WORKING //JDialog d = new JDialog((JFrame)null, false); // NOT WORKING //JDialog d = new JDialog((JDialog)null, false);// WORKING - WHY? d.setTitle("DIALOG"); d.setDefaultCloseOperation(JDialog.DISPOSE_ON_CLOSE); JScrollPane sp = new JScrollPane(getNewList()); d.add(sp); d.setSize(150, 150); d.setVisible(true); } public JList getNewList() { String objs[] = new String[30]; for(int i=0; i<objs.length; i++) { objs[i] = "Item "+i; } JList l = new JList(objs); return l; } } I found a solution which is present as a comment in the java code - the constructor receiving a (JDialog)null parameter. Can someone enlighten me? My opinion is that this is a java bug. Tested on Windows XP-SP3 with 1 JDK and 2 JREs: D:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.6.0_17\bin>javac -version javac 1.6.0_17 D:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.6.0_17\bin>java -version java version "1.6.0_17" Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (build 1.6.0_17-b04) Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM (build 14.3-b01, mixed mode, sharing) D:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.6.0_17\bin>cd ..   • How to configure a system-wide package in osgi?

    - by cheng81
    I need to made available a library to some bundles. This library makes use of RMI, so it needs (as far as I know, at least) to use the system class loader in order to work (I tried to "osgi-fy" the library, which results in classcastexceptions at runtime). So what I did was to remove the dependencies from the bundles that use that library, compile them with the library included in the property jars.extra.classpath (in the build.properties of the eclipse project). Then I added org.osgi.framework.bootdelegation=com.blipsystems.* in the felix configuration file and started the felix container with the followin command line: java -classpath lib/blipnetapi.jar -jar bin/felix.jar ..which in turns throwed a NoClassDefFoundException for a class of the blipnetapi.jar library: ERROR: Error starting file:/home/frza/felix/load/BlipnetApiOsgiService_1.0.0.1.jar (org.osgi.framework.BundleException: Activator start error in bundle BlipnetApiOsgiService [30].) java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: com/blipsystems/blipnet/api/util/BlipNetSecurityManager at java.lang.Class.getDeclaredConstructors0(Native Method) at java.lang.Class.privateGetDeclaredConstructors(Class.java:2389) at java.lang.Class.getConstructor0(Class.java:2699) at java.lang.Class.newInstance0(Class.java:326) at java.lang.Class.newInstance(Class.java:308) at org.apache.felix.framework.Felix.createBundleActivator(Felix.java:3525) at org.apache.felix.framework.Felix.activateBundle(Felix.java:1694) at org.apache.felix.framework.Felix.startBundle(Felix.java:1621) at org.apache.felix.framework.Felix.setActiveStartLevel(Felix.java:1076) at org.apache.felix.framework.StartLevelImpl.run(StartLevelImpl.java:264) at java.lang.Thread.run(Thread.java:619) Caused by: java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: com.blipsystems.blipnet.api.util.BlipNetSecurityManager at org.apache.felix.framework.ModuleImpl.findClassOrResourceByDelegation(ModuleImpl.java:726) at org.apache.felix.framework.ModuleImpl.access$100(ModuleImpl.java:60) at org.apache.felix.framework.ModuleImpl$ModuleClassLoader.loadClass(ModuleImpl.java:1631) at java.lang.ClassLoader.loadClass(ClassLoader.java:251) at java.lang.ClassLoader.loadClassInternal(ClassLoader.java:319) ... 11 more So my question is: am I missing something?
