• How does the "Last Result" column of Scheduled Tasks in Windows Server 2003 get set from a process or script?

  The Last Result column of the Scheduled Tasks Window on Windows Server 2003, displays the result of the execution of the .exe, .vbs, .ps1, .bat, .cmd, etc... that has been run at the scheduled time. There is also an archived history of this value that appears in the Scheduled Tasks Log (Found on the Scheduled Tasks Window under the Advanced->View Log) Now my question is, if I'm running a scheduled task that is a .exe, .vbs, .ps1, .bat, .cmd, etc... how do I use that process to return a specific Last Result when the process ends? P.S. If you think this question should be split up into smaller parts since I'm painting pretty broadly with it, just let me know and I'll split it into subsequent smaller questions

• Amazon and bandwidth limits

  This question may sound weird to some of you but I have never really used cloud and above all I'm still beginner in the web development and would be really thankful if someone could answer few of my question though they may sound weird So I would like to deploy simple website to Amazon, however, I'm concerned about bandwidth as they charge 0.12GB and I'm not able to set budget limit. My problem is that I wouldn't like to pay for 1000GB of bandwidth if someone for some reason decides to download one file constantly So could some of you, who have experience with amazon, tell what happens if my app is able to handle (say 50 req/sec 30kb/page) does that mean that in the worst case I would have to pay req * sec * min * hours * days * page size 50 * 60 * 60 * 24 * 30 * 30kb = 3888GB

Symptoms: From a domain-member Windows 7 Client: Domain credentials to a domain controller = success Domain credentials to a member server (by hostname or FQDN) = success Domain credentials to a member server (by IP) = fail Local credentials to a member server (by either) = success From a non-domain-member Windows 7 Client: Domain credentials to a domain controller = success Domain credentials to a member server = fail Local credentials to a member server = success (Identical behavior from a Mac RDC 2.1 client) Server Configuration Details: Windows 2008 R2 Datacenter w/ SP1 The domain in question is a subdomain of a Windows 2008 domain (forest root). Root has DCs in both Site A and Site B, subdomain only has DCs in Site B. RDP is operating normally on all root member-servers and DCs. No remote desktop settings are defined by GPOs. Network level authentication is enabled; all clients are compatible and the certificate exchange/SSL handshake completes successfully. Not catching any errors in netlogon log.

• Using VMware's ESXi, can I plug in 30 USB Wireless adapters and allow each of 30 VMs one?

  I'm assuming ESXi will act very similarly to VMware Workstation or other products, so answers based on knowledge of those programs might also help. I want to plug in 30 USB Wireless or Ethernet adapters into my server, and let each VM access one and only one of these devices. Unfortunately, I don't have the hardware to just try it out as the purchase of hubs and adapters hinges on the result of this question. The answer could be a resounding "yes, easy!" and that would be great. I couldn't find any answers to this question with google, and it's possible that this is because it's so easy to do.

• Making an SSD drive the primary boot/system drive

  [Not much of a hardware guy, so please excuse my ignorance :)] I just ordered an HP Pavilion Elite HPE-450t (desktop), which came with Win7 installed on the hard drive, using two partitions (C: and D:). Separately, I bought a 128GB SSD that I intend to use as my system drive. I got it in there and connected it, and right now, it's the J: drive (which was the first letter available in disk manager). My goal is for the SSD to get a clean OS install be the C: drive, and to clean out the other hard drive and make it D: (for misc data storage) Question #1: the motherboard has two SATA plugs. Does it matter which one I use for which drive? Question #2: what's the right way to install Win7 on the SSD in a way that it ends up being the C: drive? Do I need to switch some things around in the current Win7 that came with it, are can I do all that while installing Win7 on the SSD?

I think weblogic should also configured with ssl . If this works , what about security level ? Is the ssl really works if only Apache configured with ssl but Weblogic without it ? • Does /boot safe on top of a lvm LV (logical volume)?

  Title already asked the question. More specifically, I read in some documents that logical volumes are nice in general but not for /boot in a linux system. They say that bootloaders don't understand LVM volumes, so create a separate partition for /boot out of lvm. I recently installed Ubuntu server (9.10) for my home server, but by default /boot is created in the LVM. Everything is fine now, but I am not sure it is safe to use /boot in LVM. Second question is do I really need a physical partition (volume)(pv) for /boot or is it equally fine if I put it into a logical volume (lv) on top of a single shared volume group. • Amazon S3: allow users to upload on a restricted basis (per bucket maybe)?

  Hi there, I'm thinking about signing up to the Amazon S3 storage service. What I want to do is create a service where other people can register their own bucket with a certain amount of storage. These users will install my software, which then uploads their files. Of course, the users may only upload what they have paid for. For this to work I would like to create a separate bucket for each customer, each with its own properties. Question 1: is this possible with the API? How? This means that the installed software must have the rights needed to upload to my Amazon S3 account. Question 2: can I create individual authentication IDs for each bucket or customer, so that they can only upload with restrictions I have set? Thanks in advance.

• Proxy Server suggestions

  Here is the question I have that hopefully is not too general of a question. I have a network with approximately 25 PC's, 3 servers and 25 IP cameras. I have a firewall already on the network and it works fine for what I need, but my client is asking me if there is a way to put a Proxy server on the network to monitor where his employees are going when they surf the Internet. He is not wanting to block them (at least not thru the Proxy server), but he wants to make sure that they arent going to sites that would compromise the networked PCs. I have looked at TMG and it is a little more than what I want. I hesitate adding another firewall to the system because of the security cameras that are presently on the network (IP Cameras). I just want to put a policy in AD that would make certain Users (or Computers) use a Proxy server. Any suggestions on a good proxy server are welcome. Thank you

• Use LAN to interface Synergy while having WiFi connected to internet

  Similar question and solution I have LAN and WiFi connection, with the WiFi connected to internet and the LAN is simply connected via an Ethernet cable between two computers. I need to get Synergy working without compromising the WiFi internet. I've tried the solution above but couldn't seem to work. Both of the computer are running Windows XP. Even setting the LAN IP to static and under the same subnet doesn't seem to work. Anyone with similar situation and got Synergy to work? edit : Refined the question for clarity. Also, the computer are able to ping each other. Remote desktop can be accessed as well. I suspect the problem lies in Synergy's configuration.

• Should I be using Windows Live Mail or Outlook?

  I have been using Windows Live Mail now for a few years, and like the interface, ect ect. Just having a clear out of my domains emails, and think I should set up the other accounts properly. I have Outlook (using 2010 beta), so I thought maybe I should use it? Can anyone give me reasons for and against both bits of software? I did look for some comparisons between the two, but can't find much. Plus I always value up to date information. Bit more background: Using 1 Hotmail and 5 IMAP accounts (possibly more). Use a Windows Mobile. Any way I can sync the calendar and tasks OTA to my hotmail and back down to outlook? I know this is probably more a discussion question (sorry), but I would argue that it can be answered, as it is a question relating to what I myself, in my circumstances would be best. • Nginx Config - I can't access WordPress admin area

Everything works, even the permalink, but I can't access my WordPress admin directory (I get a 403 error). I have my WordPress install in a subfolder, so that complicates things a bit for me. When I double-click on it though, it opens up the VBA editor.   I have to use setenv.sh to set system properties. I am using Linux OS and Tomcat Server 6. As described here Linux Environment- setenv.sh , I have created a setenv.sh in tomcat/bin, and the only think I added is the export JAVA_OPTS =”-Dmyprojectvar.subname=value -Danothervariable=value -Danother.variable=value” I dont know, is this enough to set the properties. I just want to add three properties to tomcat as system property using setenv.sh. What should I do to complete it successfully? What are the steps for it?I saw this question setenv.sh is not working in http://stackoverflow.com/. No is answer given there and ,even ,I don't understand the question. ie, Do we need to set CATALINA_HOME and other properties somewhere in setenv.sh?.

• Share Only 1 folder using SMB

  I want to share my "My Videos" folder using Windows's built in SMB. The problem is that when I decide to share my video folder and check it on another device, the path always is: networkname>username>my videos instead of just my videos I noticed that indeed sharing gets turned on from the user folder down to the video folder instead of just on the folder I selected. So now my question is why this is happening; And how cold I just display my "my Videos" folder on my remote device and not the entire path? • Virtualbox PUEL Interpretation

  Sorry if this seems like a lame question but I want to be sure before making a decision. The Virtualbox PUEL license says “Personal Use” requires that you use the Product on the same Host Computer where you installed it yourself and that no more than one client connect to that Host Computer at a time for the purpose of displaying Guest Computers remotely. I take this to mean that if I want to setup a development server (web server) that's only used by me to do my work this falls under personal use. But if I make this server available for clients to connect to the websites to view my progress this is no longer personal use also meaning that using Vbox to run a production web server is also against the license. Again sorry if this is a dumb question but I find it hard to follow the wording used in licenses. I know I could go with OSE but I have not looked into VNC versus RDP yet. Thanks.

• VPN with VLANs? [closed]

  As usual, I'm sure I'm in way over my head on this one. My networking skills are limited; so, bear with me if you will. What I have are a few testing servers at my house as well as at a friends house that I want to link together so they can see each other (VPN right? I've done those before). We want to be able to see all the servers and work with them from either location. All the servers also need to be able to see each other. But, we don't want to see each others PCs, printers, PS3s etc. How do we pull that trick off? Multiple VLAN?... subnets?... what? If hardware matters, I have an old PC I was planning on loading pfSense onto because my current el-cheapo router doesn't support VPN. The VPN linking the houses is about the only thing I'm sure on. Beyond that, I'm lost. I'm not a complete noob; but, like I said, I'm not so sharp with the more complex networking. I do however read well... So use lots of descriptive words and feel free to link away to long dry articles if necessary. :-)

• Http Hanlder must be reset with each deployment. How can I add this functionality to the web.config

  My application is a dotnet 4 hybrid - MVC in some areas, web forms in others. This application was recently upgraded to dotnet 4 and includes a lot of older code and some mismatched parts. Unfortunately it includes a telerik component that requires me to run the Application pool in classic mode. In order to fix this (in IIS7) I have to add a handler mapping to the IIS configuration. This mapping is basically a wildcard mapping that points the wildcard path "*" to the %windir%\Microsoft.NET\Framework64\v4.0.30319\aspnet_isapi.dll. The problem I am running into is this: For some reason this mapping gets dropped when deploying the site. So, can I add the functionality of this mapping to the web config? If so, How? Or is there another solution to make this manually added mapping "sticky" so that it remains in place during and after a deployment? (I am also asking this on StackOverflow, as I'm not sure if this should be a coding question or a Server question)

• Help recovering lost text from a refreshed Chrome webpage (it was in the clipboard as well)? [closed]

  Possible Duplicate: Chrome: where is the location to save browse temporary files Ok, so here's what happened - and yes, it was pretty stupid by me: I wrote up and submitted a post on Stack Overflow It was not suited to be placed on Stack Overflow as someone pointed out to me, so I deleted the post (this was a few hours ago) I copied the text into a new question page on Super User, but didn't submit it yet I accidentally just refreshed the webpage that had the text, and the question has now been deleted from Stack Overflow I have Lazarus installed, however the Chrome version doesn't have many features and the text was not recoverable from there. I do not have a clipboard manager, but the text was copied to my clipboard - so is there any way to get this back (Windows 7)? Although the post on Stack Overflow was deleted, I suppose it would have existed in my cache - could I recover it from there? Would the post on Stack Overflow exist in an rss feed anywhere? Many thanks, and I hope I can find this - and I am sure that the solution will prove valuable for me (and others) in the not too distant future once again.

• How can I restore GRUB without a live CD?

  I realize that this is a duplicate of a question asked before, but in that question the asker managed to find his live CD and no real answer appeared, thus I am re-asking it. I managed to screw up my GRUB by deleting two linux partitions on my hard drive from windows. After this, GRUB gives the error "partition not found", and gives me the grub-rescue prompt. The only command I have found to work in this is 'ls', which spits out my partitions. I would use the live CD fix, but I am in India, and all my live CDs are back home in the US... What I've got is an internet connection, a 4GB flash drive with Flow OS installed (which I am currently using but can wipe if need be), and a working laptop that I can borrow. What should I do?
