  • Singular method name for single object argument, plural for a list?

    I'm having a problem with naming a method for a database application. In my Database instance, I have a method that can remove an Agreement object from the database. However, I want to be able to remove multiple Agreements at once, to be able to use transactions. The problem is that I also have an overload to remove a single Agreement object. Essentially, my structure is like this: public class Database { // ... public void RemoveAgreement(Agreement a) { // ... } public void RemoveAgreement(IEnumerable<Agreement> agreements) { // ... } } But this can be confusing, as the overload with the list of Agreements has a singular name, despite being inherently plural. My question is, how should I structure this? Should I have two overloads with the name RemoveAgreement(), or RemoveAgreements()? Or should I use two separate methods, instead of overloads? Thanks.

When trying to update a record, the update does happen but then throws an error saying "'id' parameter is missing at the statement".     I've been going through and pouring over resource for the past few hours and I cannot get my box to connect to my friends network drive. My friend doesn't use linux, but he's setup the network share like this: DPR:\\name\images and he's given me the username and password which I've verified is correct. It is located on 192.168.0.2 sudo mount -t cifs -o username=***,password=*** //name/images /media/name/ sudo mount.cifs //192.168.0.2/name/images /media/name/ -o credentials=~/name.credentials (I've confirmed that ~/name.credentials does have the correct credentials as well) Regardless of what I attempt I get mount error(13): Permission denied Refer to the mount.cifs(8) manual page (e.g. man mount.cifs) I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong, but it's probably really simple and stupid. Thanks to any/all in advance. EDIT: I don't know if this helps, but I'm running Ubuntu 14.04.

  • Is there a more correct type for passing in the file path and file name to a method

    Hi What I mean by this question is, when you need to store or pass a URL around, using a string is probably a bad practice, and a better approach would be to use a URI type. However it is so easy to make complex things more complex and bloated. So if I am going to be writing to a file on disk, do I pass it a string, as the file name and file path, or is there a better type that will be better suited to the requirement? This code seems to be clunky, and error prone? I would also need to do a whole bit of checking if it is a valid file name, if the string contains data and the list goes on. private void SaveFile(string fileNameAndPath) { //The normal stuff to save the file }

  • Can you make a PHP function recursive without repeating it's name?

    It's always bugged me a recursive function needs to name itself, when a instantiated class can use $this and a static method can use self etc. Is there a similar way to do this in a recursive function without naming it again (just to cut down on maintenance)? Obviously I could use call_user_func or the __FUNCTION__ constant but I would prefer something less ugly. Update Thanks for your answers. I might stick to including the function name for simple functions, and make take the other approaches for anything more complicated.

    I have one website. I have two domain names that I want to point to the same site install. So whether you go to name-one.com or name-two.com you see the exact same site. Now, I can either set up name-two.com to serve 301 redirect header redirecting to name-one.com – or, I can set up name-two.com as a CNAME in the DNS pointing to name-one.com What is the different implications for SEO on this? What is recommended? I would guess it's better for branding to use a 301 redirect, so that visitors will see one consistent url for my site, right? The reason I want the two domains is that I want a version with regional letters ('ö' instead of 'oe' ) in the name.

So the third List should have 1 instance of Item 1, since 'items' had 2 instances. Any ideas of how this can be done through Linq?
