• How to make a table in Silverlight ?

  So I'd like to make a visible table, with a border around each cell and a different background color for the header. I'd like to eventually insert controls into this. For example, put a textfield inside one of the table elements, or some radio buttons, etc. Is there a control for this? I've narrowed it down to two possibilities, but they both seem kind of "meh": use the Grid Control - I like this but is there a way to color the border on the cell (I did not find this) use the DataGrid Control - this control is just way too complicated for what I need. I'm just looking for an html style table in silverlight, any ideas?

• Android, simply view question about view reset

  I have a button in my activity, when you click the button an if statement is ran against its text label; if(BTN_1.getText()=="firsttext"){ //do some stuff, then... BTN_1.setText("secondtext"); }else if(BTN_1.getText()=="secondtext"){ //do other stuff, then... BTN_1.setText("firsttext"); } Firstly, if I hit the home button and go back to the desktop and then click back onto my app the view has reset its self; if I press the button and leave it in a state where the text of the button is "secondtext", when I return to my app it says "firsttext", how can I stop the view of my app refreshing its self like this? Secondly, under my XML layout I have defined the buttons text; android:text="firsttext" But this won't actually match my if statement above, under onCreate of this app I have: BTN_CONNECT.setText("Connect"); But visually the text of the button is exactly the same, why won't it match?   I am creating a Windows Mobile Application in C# and Visual Studio 2008. The application will have 5-6 main 'screens'. There will also be bar (/area) with information (e.g. a title, whether the app is busy, etc) above the screens, and a toolbar (or similar control) below the screens with 5-6 buttons (with images) to change the active screen (i.e. the screens will share the top bar and toolbar) What is the best way to implement this? Use multiple forms, and just include the toolbar and top-bar in each Use a single form and something like the Tab control (but customised) to contain the screens Something else? Keeping in mind a) memory usage and b) time to switch screens. Thanks in advance. Any links, pointers etc are much appreciated.

• Streaming Flash Video Problem - Clipping

  I have a simple flash video player that streams the video from a streaming media server. The stream plays fine and I have no problems with playing the video and doing simple functions. However, my problem is that on a mouse over of the video, I have the controls come up and when I do a seek or scrub on the video, I get little weird boxes that show over the video - like little pockets - of the video playing super fast (you can basically see it seeking) until it gets to the point it needs to be at and then these little boxes disappear. Is anybody else having these problems and if so, how do I fix this? I thought it might be some kind of masking problem, but I haven't been able to figure it out. Please Help!!!

• xcode - iPad App. Status bar overlaps toolBar.

  I have an app fully finished. It is very simple. Uses a toolBar up top with a few buttons. Under this is a WebView. The WebView only opens one URL and there is no way to get away from this site. Thats the point of it. Now the issue. The status bar overlaps the toolBar. My temp solve is to hide the status bar, but I really need it to be there in this app. I'm not sure what the problem is. I'm fairly new to this. Thanks for any help.

  These days a number of commercial and open source tools have been developed for this purpose. However(unfortunately), non of them meet my requirement for specific problem I am dealing with. Currently, I am working on a project that exposes a different classes and functions to user as scripting interface. the user can use the objects from custom scripting interface and call methods to solve some specific problem. The problem I am facing is users of my classes need some sort of documentation in order to write their script efficiently. To address this problem am planing to use the compiler generated XML file to provide context sensitive help, which allows users to mouse over on any of the controls and corresponding methods from the GUI and read the reference documentation of the class/method. Now ... here are my questions: Can I get the sample source code? Can any one give me someone point me to some sort of best approach to address the problem?

• c# windows forms link button to listview

  Hi, I am using c# windows forms. I have multiple buttons linked to a listview which when a button is pressed, a new item is added to the listview. The column headers in the listview are 'Name' and 'Amount'. When a different button is pressed, a different item is added to the listview. The thing i need help with is as follows: When the same button is pressed twice, I want the amount to go from "1" to "2" on the second click. So the item name isnt duplicated but the amount is increase. The problem is I am using text to link the button to the linklist at the moment e.g. ("Coca Cola", "1") which adds the item name as coca cola and the amount as 1. I know it is something to do with integers so please help!! Thanks

• WPF command/click argument

  So I have a background in ASP.NET where a button could have a click handler or a command handler and then a command argument. That pattern was great for when you had a bunch of buttons that basically needed to execute the same block of code with only a slightly different argument. Is there a collary in WPF? From what I've seen of the Command in WPF is that it revolves around an action that is independent of the control that invokes it (and still doesn't provide a way to provide an argument). Which is not really what I need.

• Programatically enable / disable multitouch finger input?

  I have a multitoch-enabled tablet PC running Windows 7. However, when using the stylus pen and getting too far away from the display, I often accidently hit it with my fingers which causes unwanted mouse-clicks. The solution is navigating to "Control Panel - Pen- and Finger Input - Finger Input" and deactivate the checkbox "Use the finger as an input device" (all titles translated so they might be different on an English windows). Now I am wondering whether I can do this programatically, too, so I would be able to write a little tray app for this. I tried using Process Monitor to find out registry keys, however, I did not find one which really shows the same effect as the checkbox. Does anyone know how to access this property (without using UI-Automation)? Cheers winSharp93

  We are creating Excel 2007 AddIn using VSTO. Now we have a scenario where in there are 2 buttons. Button 'A' and Button 'B'. Button 'B'needs to be hidden based on the click on the button 'A'. Can you suggest me some feature of JointJS or any feature of CSS in general, which I could use to make my object immovable. I can't use interactive: false option on the paper or paper.$el.css('pointer-events', 'none'); because I need to have highlighting features when mouse hovers over the element. Please suggest a way that disables movement of elements while allowing other features.

  I am using a ASP.net form with custom onclick mouse events to modify data values. Upon clicking and updating the values, one div section of the form performs a postback. onclick="__doPostBack('ctl01$phCon1$gridReports','sel1')" This is working well, however when the browser BACK option is selected, the browser opens goes through the history of the DIV ajax/onclick actions prior to going back to the prior URL. I suspect that this may be due to the doPostBack being treated as a browsing operation. Is there a means to perform the necessary ASP.net code events to make the page work, but not have the action stored in the browser history?

• How to pause a setTimeout call ?

  Im using jQuery and working on a notification system for my site. The notifications automatically fadeout using the setTimeout function. How can i stop the timer of the setTimeout call? For example i would like to pause the setTimeout call while the mouse is over the notification and continue the count down mouseout... I googled "pause setTimeout" with no luck. Im currently clearing the setTimeout call with clearTimeout and at same time fading out the notification on mouseout but it would be nice to have that pause effect. Any ideas?

• How can I disable a view behind my SlidingDrawer in Android?

  I have a SlidingDrawer that pops up from the bottom of the screen and fills the screen about 80%. Even though the SlidingDrawer view is in focus, it is still possible to click on items, buttons and other elements in the view that is behind the SlidingDrawer. When SlidingDrawer is active/pulled up/in focus, I want to disable the entire view behind it so it will not be able to recieve clicks and touches. Is there a good way to disable an entire view? I have tried setEnable(false) and setClickable(false) but neither of them work. Help?

I am adding an Ad view in of my UIViewController as follows: ProgrammaticAdViewController *temp = [[ProgrammaticAdViewController alloc] init]; temp = [[ProgrammaticAdViewController alloc] initWithNibName:nil bundle:nil]; [self.view addSubview:temp.view]; So, I will be able to see an Ad view on top of my UIViewController. Now I have two problems: I am not able to tap on certain buttons of my UIViewController on which I have added the Ad View. So, for temporary purpose I adding the Ad view as: [self.view insertSubView:temp.view atIndex:1]; I want to remove the Ad view after sometime so I am using: [temp.view removeFromSuperView]; But my Ad view is not being removed. • Keyboard for programmers

  I'm trying to improve my working environment and I'm still searching for that perfect keyboard that practically types bug-free code all by itself. At the moment I'm using a Logitech Wave for my Windows need and an Apple Wireless Keyboard (the one without a numeric keypad) when doing OS X stuff. I'm quite happy with the Logitech Wave but I would prefer one without all the extra multimedia buttons. What I like most about the Apple Wireless Keyboard is that it is very similar to the Macbook's keyboard which for me makes it easier to write code when on my Macbook. What kind of keyboard would you recommend for going all out writing code until your fingers bleed? I have remapped the Caps Lock key to Ctrl which after a while feels really good, until I have to sit at another computer or when someone at work is going to show me something on my computer. Are there other little keyboard tricks that you use to get a little bit more productive? I have looked into switching to Dvorak but I have decided it's not for me.

• Why won't the VisualVM Profiler profile my application?

  I've created a simple 1 file java application that iterates through a loop, calls some functions, allocates some memory, adds some numbers, etc. I run that application via eclipse's Run As->Java Application. The running application shows up in Java VisualVM under Local. I double click on that application and go to the Profiler tab. The default settings are: Start profiling from classes: my.main.package.** Do not profile classes: java.*, javax.*, sun.*, sunw.*, com.sun.* I click on CPU. The CPU and Memory buttons gray out. Nothing happens. The Status says profiling inactive. When my application terminates the Status says application terminated. What am I doing wrong here? Are there some settings I need to tweak? Do I need to set a VM flag when I launch my application?

  In our current ASP.Net Webforms application we have several composite/template server controls that only exist for a common look and feel. For example, we have a panel control that has a title, a place for buttons related to the contents of the panel, and of course the contents. How is this best accomplished in MVC? RenderPartial doesn't get done what I need here. Should I still be using the same controls, but just on a view page? These controls don't really do anything on postback, they are only there for a common look and feel.

• How to make an Android UI with images from a designer delivered as layers

  I hired a designer to help me redesign the UI for my Android app. For each Activity he gave me an image for the background, which includes any static content like fancy frames for text content; plus images for the buttons, which must fit in to the background image in exact places, to fit into the frames in the background image. However, since Android devices have different screen sizes and aspect ratios, it's easy to fit the background image by itself with android:scaleType="centerInside", but how can I get all the other images to fit in with background exactly, to the pixel? If they didn't have to fit in with the background, I would just set the exact width and height for each ImageButton, but depending on how the background scales (based on the screen size and ratio) they might end up not aligned correctly. I have Jcarousel running great on a Ruby on Rails site and I need to use the itemLastInCallback method to change out the next and prev buttons. Basically if the end user clicks through to the last item in a carousel, the next button would become a link to the next carousel. <%= link_to (image_tag 'scroll_right.png'), @next_group % is the code I need to render in the end. My app UI is defined in main.xml I have 2 texts and 2 buttons defined - easy app. I read that I may be able to change TEXT in the ACTIVITY using the setText() method. And thats the problem - how do I POINT the setText() Method? How do I tell it to change a specified text? If I would declare the TextView inside the Activity with NEW TextView NAME Object, I would just need to use NAME.setText(STRING)... But I didnt so i dont have anything like NAME of the object? How can this be done? I read something about r.IDs but I truly dont have a idea how to use them, where to find them and how to implement it .... Please advise Thank you Oliver

• DoDragDrop disables MouseMove Events

  After having started a Drag & Drop operation by DragDrop.DoDragDrop(...) no more MouseMove Events are fired. I even tried AddHandler(Window.MouseMoveEvent, new MouseEventHandler(myControl_MouseMove), true); where the last parameter means I even opt in for handled events. No chance, seems like the MouseMove Event is never fired at all! Any way to still get MouseMove Events while using Drag & Drop? I'd like to Drag & Drop a control, while dragging this control it shall follow the mouse pointer. Any idea how to do this in this case?
