  • how to debug MySql stored procs without breaking control flow from application

    Is there a way to do the following: I have a MySQL DB , and there are many stored procs written in it as well. I use MySQL client library in C to connect to this DB and amongst other things , call the stored procedures. Is there a way to set breakpoints in the stored procedures such that when the call is made from C program ( using mySql client library ) into the stored proc , then control flow is halted in the C program and we can step into the stored proc called to whatever level of nesting and insspecting variables etc ( like any decent C debugged provides )? Is there ANY way to do the above ? Through some third party tool or the like if not through plain MySql . Help is appreciated. thanks

    hi, I am reading a "table" in Python in GAE that has 1000 rows and the program stops because the time limit is reached. (So it takes at least 20 seconds.)( Is that possible that GAE is that slow? Is there a way to fix that? Is this because I use free service and I do not pay for it? Thank you.   • NUnit for VS has suddenly bombed.. Anyone else experience this?

    I'm getting the following set of errors in a project, that previously worked fine, from NUnit for VS when I try to run either individual or all of the tests in a given solution. Error loading C:\Path to Application\Application\Application.ApplicationTests\bin\Debug\Application.ApplicationTests.dll: The method or operation is not implemented. Error loading C:\Path to Application\Application\Application.FileDetectorTests\bin\Debug\FileDetectorTests.dll: The method or operation is not implemented. Error loading C:\Path to Application\Application\Application.PresentationTests\bin\Debug\Application.PresentationTests.dll: The method or operation is not implemented. Error loading C:\Path to Application\Application\Application.DomainTests\bin\Debug\Application.DomainTests.dll: The method or operation is not implemented. I've verified that each project is setup with the appropriate ProjectTypeGuids for a test project in the Project file. I've tried uninstalling / reinstalling NUnit for VS, but have had no luck. Does anyone have any advice as to how I might start troubleshooting this? If I open each individual test project outside of the main solution (that includes all projects, by the way,) and save it as it's own solution, they run just fine. Nothing of note has changed since this stopped working. Thanks! Ian

  • What mutex/locking/waiting mechanism to use when writing a Chat application with Tornado Web Framewo

    We're implementing a Chat server using Tornado. The premise is simple, a user makes open an HTTP ajax connection to the Tornado server, and the Tornado server answers only when a new message appears in the chat-room. Whenever the connection closes, regardless if a new message came in or an error/timeout occurred, the client reopens the connection. Looking at Tornado, the question arises of what library can we use to allow us to have these calls wait on some central object that would signal them - A_NEW_MESSAGE_HAS_ARRIVED_ITS_TIME_TO_SEND_BACK_SOME_DATA. To describe this in Win32 terms, each async call would be represented as a thread that would be hanging on a WaitForSingleObject(...) on some central Mutex/Event/etc. We will be operating in a standard Python environment (Tornado), is there something built-in we can use, do we need an external library/server, is there something Tornado recommends?     I'm learning to apply MVP to a simple WinForms app (only one form) in C# and encountered an issue while creating the main presenter in static void Main(). Is it a good idea to expose a View from the Presenter in order to supply it as a parameter to Application.Run()? Currently, I've implemented an approach which allows me to not expose the View as a property of Presenter: static void Main() { IView view = new View(); Model model = new Model(); Presenter presenter = new Presenter(view, model); presenter.Start(); Application.Run(); } The Start and Stop methods in Presenter: public void Start() { view.Start(); } public void Stop() { view.Stop(); } The Start and Stop methods in View (a Windows Form): public void Start() { this.Show(); } public void Stop() { // only way to close a message loop called // via Application.Run(); without a Form parameter Application.Exit(); } The Application.Exit() call seems like an inelegant way to close the Form (and the application). The other alternative would be to expose the View as a public property of the Presenter in order to call Application.Run() with a Form parameter. static void Main() { IView view = new View(); Model model = new Model(); Presenter presenter = new Presenter(view, model); Application.Run(presenter.View); } The Start and Stop methods in Presenter remain the same.     I am trying to understand how software like App-V and sandboxie (http://www.sandboxie.com/) work. But for the life of me, I can't think of anything that could make this possible. How do they intercept API calls and trick the target software? If someone would say that it's just magic and pixie dust, I would believe them. Seriously though, are there any white papers that discuss solutions to this problem? If this is possible on the CLR level then that would be good but I'm willing to go native if I have to.

  • Publish failed in Web Application Project (MVC)

    I usually use the "Publish" feature in VS 2008 to get the correct files and so on that I can publish to my website. But from time to time publish fails without any good error message at all. I know that it can be a couple of different reasons but I am starting to grow really tired with this now. Can anyone teach me how to build the website from the command line? As I said it is a MVC project. Can I use the aspnet_compiler for this? What parameters should I use to simulate the same behavior as a "Publish"?

  • Importing ctype; embedding python in C++ application

    I'm trying to embed python within a C++ based programming language (CCL: The compuatational control language, not that any of you have heard of it). Thus, I don't really have a "main" function to make calls from. I have made a test .cc program with a main, and when I compile it and run it, I am able to import my own python modules and system modules for use. When I embed my code in my CCL-based program and compile it (with g++), it seems I have most functionality, but I get the import error: ImportError: /usr/lib/python2.6/lib-dynload/_ctypes.so: undefined symbol: PyType_GenericNew Can someone explain this to me and how to go about solving it? It seems like I've linked the objects correctly. Thanks.

    I have implemented a small ordering and stock control system (for internal using) with the MVC 2 framework. Now my friends, they want to have a website to present the existing products for their customers. I know, I know they will ask me to do this one day. So in the beginning, I have made the controller name to start with "Admin". But now I am not sure the best way to implement their requirements. Could you advise me? 1.For the security reason, I did not allowed anonymous user to access the website a part from the CSS and image files. My question is the controllers' name are not folders' name, how could I set this up? 2.I'm planning to put the admin section into an "area" and will it be a good way to go?     I'm working on a program that loads sounds from Ogg Vorbis files, but whatever I do, the XCode project just doesn't seem to want to link libvorbisfile.a into my program.   • AnyCPU/x86/x64 for C# application and it's C++/CLI dependency

    I'm Windows developer, I'm using Microsoft visual studio 2008 SP1. My developer machine is 64 bit. The software I'm currently working on is managed .exe written in C#. Unfortunately, I was unable to solve the whole problem solely in C#. That's why I also developed a small managed DLL in C++/CLI. Both projects are in the same solution. My C# .exe build target is "Any CPU". When my C++ DLL build target is "x86", the DLL is not loaded. As far as I understood when I googled, the reason is C++/CLI language, unlike other .NET languages, compiles to the native code, not managed code. I switched the C++ DLL build target to x64, and everything works now. However, AFAIK everything will stop working as soon as my client will install my product on a 32-bit OS. I have to support Windows Vista and 7, both 32 and 64 bit versions of each of them. I don't want to fall back to 32 bits. That 250 lines of C++ code in my DLL is only 2% of my codebase. And that DLL is only used in several places, so in the typical usage scenario it's not even loaded. My DLL implements two COM objects with ATL, so I can't use "/clr:safe" project setting. Is there way to configure the solution and the projects so that C# project builds "Any CPU" version, the C++ project builds both 32 bit and 64 bit versions, then in the runtime when the managed .EXE is starting up, it uses either 32-bit DLL or 64-bit DLL depending on the OS? Or maybe there's some better solution I'm not aware of? Thanks in advance!

    Hi everyone, I hadn't found a anwser on the web, so i ask to you. I am unable to run my compiled mysql driver on a deployment solution. On the pc A the app work fine when run with QtCreator, but via the .exe in the following working directory, the driver is not loaded : root/ -----/bin --------/app.exe --------/libgcc_s_dw2-1.dll --------/mingwm10.dll --------/QtCore4.dll --------/QtGui4.dll --------/QtSql4.dll -----/sqldrivers --------/libmysql.dll --------/qsqlmysql4.dll Whereas with libmysql.dll under bin/ driver is loaded. Now on the pc B, with no Qt or MySQL lib installation and with any of the 2 last working dir, the driver is not loaded. pc A : Qt 4.7 2010.05, Win 7 pc B : Win 7 Thanks for your help !

    Is it possible to compile some code-behind (.cs) files (eg. all .cs file under a particular folder) into one DLL, and the rest into another DLL? We have some common codes and pages (aspx + cs files) that we want to use across many websites. We want this to compile into a DLL (eg. Common.dll). The rest of the files will be website-specific, unique to each website and should compile into another DLL (eg. Website3.dll) This is so that if we make changes to a common code-behind, we can just publish Common.dll onto all our websites. Is that possible using VS Web Developer Express 2008? Thanks in advance. EDIT: We are already using a class library, but not for pages (aspx+cs)
