• Open default browser as standard user (C++)

  I'm currently using ShellExecute "open" to open a URL in the user's browser, but running into a bit of trouble in Win7 and Vista because the program runs elevated as a service. When ShellExecute opens the browser, it seems to read the "Local Admin" profile instead of the user's. So for example, if the user at the keyboard has Firefox as his default browser, it may open IE (which is the admin's default). I know that the "runas" verb can be used to elevate, but how do you do it the other way around? Is there a way to open a URL in the default browser on a standard user's desktop from a service?

• jquery.position() isn't working correctly.

  I'm working on a menu system where I want a ul to show as a dropdown when the users does a mouseOver on li in another ul. I thought I'd use position to set the position of the dropdown (so it actually looks like a menu). What I want is the dropdown's top left corner to start at the same place as the bottom left corner of the wrapping listitem. Unfortunately the positioning fails in several different ways: In Firefox it seems like the dropdown's are offset with approximately -100 25 pixels the first item in the list has a different offset on the left side compared to the other items The offset in IE is not the same as in FF Doing the positioning repeatedly in explorer results in different positions each time.   I have tried and tried to achieve an SQL injection by making custom queries to the server outside of firefox. Inside the php, all variables are passed into the query in a string like this. Note, by this stage, $_POST has not been touched. mysql_query('INSERT INTO users (password, username) VALUES(' . sha1($_POST['password']) . ',' . $_POST['username'] . ')); Is that a secure way to make a change?

• Why does Microsoft's IE even exists?

  For real what is the point? Why can't it display pages properly like Chrome, safari or Firefox? If you want to make a web application (modern 2.0 site) that supports IE you will end up almost doubling your coding time as IE has its own interpretation of things. PLUS they just keep on changing how it renders pages from version to version (5,6,7,8) unbelievable. Microsoft hates web designers. i used to handle rendering problems with extra JS scripts and CSS files but i had enoughs of this $hit all over my pages: <!--[if IE]> .... <!--[if IE 8]> .... <!--[if IE 7]> .... <!--[if IE 6]> .... No more IE support for any of my projects, So you guys think im exaggerating or IE is really a pain in the @@$?

  We have migrated our Asp .NET application from Windows 2000 server to Windows 2003 Server when we access the site from Internet explorer we are facing some cache issues like when we click on logout its redirecting to homepage instead of login page but when i try to navigate inside its not allowing me i.e. its throwing me the user id and password is wrong.. i am facing this issue only in IE if i access the same page from Firefox i am not gettiing these kind of issue.. Is this problem related to some IIS settings or some code change is required? please help me in solving this issue...

• CSV file download ignored in ie8/9

  I have some code in a button click event which gets a csv string from a hidden input and writes it to the response as a CSV file. This work fine in Chrome, Firefox, ie7, ie9 in quirks mode. However it does not work in ie8 or ie9 default. Looking at this in fiddler the csv is being written to the response but the another get request is being made immediately after and the page reloads.   Using jQuery and the Cycle plugin. Runs flawless in Safari, Chrome, Firefox, and the latest version of Opera. Won't run in older versions of Opera, and of course, IE. I know its running Java, because its picking up the rollovers. This is driving me batty. Hopefully its something simple. • IE8 is still caching my requests even with mathrandom.

  TLDR IE is still caching my requests even with Math.random() included in the URL. So I added math random onto the end of my url: var MYKMLURL = 'http://' + host + 'data/pattern?key='+ Math.random(); I also added math random onto my function param: window.setTimeout(RefreshPatternData, 1000, MYKMLLAYER); function RefreshPatternData(layer) { layer.loaded = false; layer.setVisibility(true); layer.refresh({ force: true, params: { 'key': Math.random()} }); setTimeout(RefreshPatternData, 30000, MYKMLLAYER); } So the request appears as http://host/data/pattern?key=35678652545 etc. It changes everytime the request is made. It works in Firefox & Chrome & Safari etc. But IE8 is still caching the data and not updating my layer. Any ideas as to why this might be occuring?

  Using a modal plugin for jquery, I'm opening an iframe in a modal with a click event and setting the source attribute to a relative url (should be within https). The page containing the click is an authenticated ssl page. In IE and Safari, this works as expected. In Chrome and Firefox, the source url is opened in http not https. If I set the source to an absolute url using https, same result.   Situation: 1. I'm trying run an https store(xcart) under one domain secure.mydomain and I want to have access to a cookie it sets in http www.mydomain 2. I'm Running PHP on apache(MAMP), testing in firefox with firecookie 3. The existing code sets cookies to .secure.mydomain. I'm not sure if this is xcart related, but setcookie is actually called using secure.mydomain. I'm not sure why the "." is appended. Problems: 1. When I try to use setcookie in https to use the domain .mydomain or just mydomain, no cookie is created, whether I'm running the store under http or https. The testing code I'm using is: setcookie('three', 'two', 0, "/", ".mydomain"); If I set the cookie to secure.mydomain or .secure.mydomain it does show up. Is there a reason the cookie isn't showing up?

• Shell Prompt Line Wrapping Issue

  I've done something to break my Bash Shell Prompt in OS X (10.5.7) Terminal. This is the PS1 that I had configured: PS1='\[\e[1;32m\]\h\[\e[0m\]:\[\e[1;34m\]\w\[\e[0m\]\$ ' As far as I can tell I have the color commands escaping correctly. However when I scroll up and down in my command history I often get line wrapping issues if the historic commands wrap onto multiple lines. I simplified my prompts to the following: PS1='\[\e[1m\]\h:\w\$ \[\e[0m\]' PS2='> ' And I still see something like: localhost:~/Library/Application Support/Firefox/Profiles/knpmxpup.Defau lt/extensions/{1A2D0EC4-75F5-4c91-89C4-3656F6E44B68}$ expocd \{1A2D0EC4-7 5F5-4c91-89C4-3656F6E export PS1="\[ \e[1;32m\]\h\[\e[0m\]: cd Library/Appl ication\ Support/ I've also tried \033 instead of \e. I just included PS2 up there for information, I haven't changed that from the install default. If I completely remove the color codes then everything works fine, any ideas?

• WebGL on older Mac OS X versions (say 10.4)

  Not really a programming related question but... I'd like very much to experiment with WebGL on my spare time. My current 'spare time' machine is a MacBook running Mac OS X Tiger (10.4.xx) and I'm unable to find a new browser supporting this OS. Firefox dropped support, Chrome too, and Safari idem. I read somewhere that this is due to a Quicktime bug that Apple won't fix. Does anyone have more information on this issue ? Does anyone have a clue or track to find a running implementation of WebGL on Mac OS X 10.4 ? Cheers,

• Jquery ajax and php die()

  Hi, I have an IE problem. I am using the jquery ajax method to call a php script. The php script just calls die(). In firefox, the error message is displayed, but in IE the success message is displayed without any data. I would prefer the error function to be called. Is there any way to fix this? I'm guessing my javascript code needs change somehow. • Restrict confirm message on page reload with f5

  In my JSP page I am using post method while submitting the page. So once I go from Page 1 to page 2. In Page 2, If I press F5 I am getting alert as "To display this page, Firefox must send information that will repeat any action (such as a search or order confirmation) that was performed earlier." I knew this question is a bit sarcastic but please give me an Idea. I can't change my method from POST to GET because I need to send large amount of data. Thanks in advance... • Google Chrome window.open height includes URL bar

  When we open a window using: window.open("/calendar",'calendar','width=950,height=576,titlebar=no,statusbar=no,menubar=no,resizable=no,scrollbars=no'); Firefox 3 and IE 7 open it to have a content area height of 576 plus the browser items (URL bar, status bar, etc). Chrome however opens it to have a total height of 576 meaning a scrollbar appears to the right of the content (and then the bottom because the width is now reduced). How can I get around this? It's for a heavy layout part of a web app so it's not just a matter of "let the user scroll", the client doesn't want that. Has anyone come across this? I don't mind browser sniffing and opening the window bigger, but I know that's yucky these days.

  hello folks! i have a construction like this: <div id="container"> <span> <span></span> </span> <span> <span></span> </span> </div> i need to catch the mouseout event of the container, so i made jquery do this: $("#container").hover('',function(){ alert("Out"); }); In Firefox / Opera, it only fires the mouseout-function when leaving the div (how I want it). In IE it fires the mouseout-function at every -Tag inside of the div the mouse hits. (maybe important is, that the span tags have also mouseover and out events) Anyone has an idea how to solve this? (The nested structure cant be changed because a complex layout) thx4 any ideas!

  Hi guys, I am having a javascript written like this. imageDiv.onclick = function(){xyz.deleteImage(param1, param2);return false;}; Now things are fine in Firefox, Chrome and Safari. But I have a strange issue in Internet Explorer. What happens is, when I click on the imageDiv in my page, the deleteImage() method is getting invoked twice. One being the actual deleteimage() method thats given here and another is the deleteimage() method that I have in the page. How to resolve this issue. Please help.
