How do i correctly find mouse scroll events in SDL?

• pointers to member functions in an event dispatcher

  For the past few days I've been trying to come up with a robust event handling system for the game (using a component based entity system, C++, OpenGL) I've been toying with. class EventDispatcher { typedef void (*CallbackFunction)(Event* event); typedef std::unordered_map<TypeInfo, std::list<CallbackFunction>, hash_TypeInfo > TypeCallbacksMap; EventQueue* global_queue_; TypeCallbacksMap callbacks_; ... } global_queue_ is a pointer to a wrapper EventQueue of std::queue<Event*> where Event is a pure virtual class. For every type of event I want to handle, I create a new derived class of Event, e.g. SetPositionEvent. TypeInfo is a wrapper on type_info. When I initialize my data, I bind functions to events in an unordered_map using TypeInfo(typeid(Event)) as the key that corresponds to a std::list of function pointers. When an event is dispatched, I iterate over the list calling the functions on that event. Those functions then static_cast the event pointer to the actual event type, so the event dispatcher needs to know very little. The actual functions that are being bound are functions for my component managers. For instance, SetPositionEvent would be handled by void PositionManager::HandleSetPositionEvent(Event* event) { SetPositionEvent* s_p_event = static_cast<SetPositionEvent*>(event); ... } The problem I'm running into is that to store a pointer to this function, it has to be static (or so everything leads me to believe.) In a perfect world, I want to store pointers member functions of a component manager that is defined in a script or whatever. It looks like I can store the instance of the component manager as well, but the typedef for this function is no longer simple and I can't find an example of how to do it. Is there a way to store a pointer to a member function of a class (along with a class instance, or, I guess a pointer to a class instance)? Is there an easier way to address this problem?

• Using Toad with 64bit Oracle Client and Windows 7 64bit Operating System

  After downloading the latest version of Toad for Windows 7 64bit, I am struggling to get it to connect to the database using the existing full Oracle Client that is already on the desktop. The Oracle Client that is there is a 64bit version and is version 12c. When running Toad it says that there is no Oracle Client installed. All of the environment variables have been set up to point to the Oracle Client I note from the attached link that when using Toad in a 64bit os that you have to use a 32bit client? Is this still the case? If not how do I get it to use the Oracle Client? I cannot use another version because of the application that is using it needs that version. http://www.quest.com/toad-development-suite-for-oracle/ Thanks

• Java, Jacob and Microsoft Outlook events: Receiving "Can't find event iid" Error

  I am writing a Java program that interacts with Microsoft Outlook using the Jacob library (bridges COM and Java). This program creates a new MailItem, displaying its Inspector window to the user. I wish to subscribe to the inspector's Close event to know when the user is finished editing their mail item. To subscribe to the event, I followed the instructions in Jacob's documentation (about 2⁄3 down the page): The current [event] model is conceptually similar to the Visual Basic WithEvents construct. Basically, I provide a class called com.jacob.com.DispatchEvents which has a constructor that takes a source object (of type com.jacob.com.Dispatch) and a target object (of any type). The source object is queried for its IConnectionPointContainer interface and I attempt to obtain an IConnectionPoint for its default source interface (which I obtain from IProvideClassInfo). At the same time, I also create a mapping of DISPID's for the default source interface to the actual method names. I then use the method names to get jmethodID handles from the target Java object. All event methods currently must have the same signature: one argument which is a Java array of Variants, and a void return type. Here is my InspectorEventHandler class, conforming to Jacob's documentation: public class InspectorEventHandler { public void Activate(Variant[] arguments) { } public void BeforeMaximize(Variant[] arguments) { } public void BeforeMinimize(Variant[] arguments) { } public void BeforeMove(Variant[] arguments) { } public void BeforeSize(Variant[] arguments) { } public void Close(Variant[] arguments) { System.out.println("Closing"); } public void Deactivate(Variant[] arguments) { } public void PageChange(Variant[] arguments) { } } And here is how I subscribe to the events using this InspectorEventHandler class: Object outlook = new ActiveXComponent("Outlook.Application"); Object mailItem = Dispatch.call(outlook, "CreateItem", 0).getDispatch(); Object inspector = Dispatch.get(mailItem, "GetInspector").getDispatch(); InspectorEventHandler eventHandler = new InspectorEventHandler(); // This supposedly registers eventHandler with the inspector new DispatchEvents((Dispatch) inspector, eventHandler); However, the last line fails with the following exception: Exception in thread "main" com.jacob.com.ComFailException: Can't find event iid at com.jacob.com.DispatchEvents.init(Native Method) at com.jacob.com.DispatchEvents.(DispatchEvents.java) at cake.CakeApplication.run(CakeApplication.java:30) at cake.CakeApplication.main(CakeApplication.java:15) couldn't get IProvideClassInfo According to Google, a few others have also received this error. Unfortunately, none of them have received an answer. I am using version 1.7 of the Jacob library, which claims to prevent this problem: Version 1.7 also includes code to read the type library directly from the progid. This makes it possible to work with all the Microsoft Office application events, as well as IE5 events. For an example see the samples/test/IETest.java example. I noticed that the aforementioned IETest.java file subscribes to events like this: new DispatchEvents((Dispatch) ieo, ieE,"InternetExplorer.Application.1"); Therefore, I tried subscribing to my events in a similar manner: new DispatchEvents((Dispatch) inspector, eventHandler, "Outlook.Application"); new DispatchEvents((Dispatch) inspector, eventHandler, "Outlook.Application.1"); new DispatchEvents((Dispatch) inspector, eventHandler, "Outlook.Application.12"); All these attempts failed with the same error.

  Here is a simple working query without bind variables: select * from table1 where time_stamp sysdate - INTERVAL '1' day; where time_stamp is of type DATE. I should be able to input any number of days in the above query using bind variable. So I tried the following and does not seem to work: select * from table1 where time_stamp sysdate - INTERVAL :days day; I tried entering the numeric input both as 10 and '10',for eg. You get ORA-00933 error on 10g.

  I'm compiling a database library with pro*C which converts the .ppc library file to a .c file that gcc can use. However, I'm getting a lot of errors in pro*C like the following PCC-S-02201, Encountered the symbol "__ attribute__ " when expecting one of the following ... , Encountered the symbol "__builtin_va_list" when expecting one of the following The missing symbols are from a chain of standard includes like stdio.h and stdlib.h. How do I get around this issue? The library I'm compiling came from an old solaris system that we're now upgrading (to a new solaris 10 system) and the header files don't seem to use these symbols. e.g. the newer .h files has typedef __builtin_va_list va_list while the old .h files has typedef void* va_list There are a lot of things like this so I'm reluctant to go and fix all of them manually with a typedef

• Oracle Trigger to persist value

  I have a column that I need to be able to guarantee never gets set to anything other than "N" - I thought a trigger would be the perfect solution for this, but I can't seem to figure out how to make it so that anytime the column gets set to something other than "N" I reset it back to "N" Any pointers? EDIT: I wouldn't want to do a constraint because the application that will potentially change it to Y is outside of my control and I don't want it to be getting errors when it sets it to Y, I just want to passively set it back to N without fanfare.

  The query... select distinct name from myTable returns a bunch of values that start with the following character sequences... ADL* FG* FH* LAS* TWUP* Where '*' is the remainder of the string. I want to do an order by that sorts in the following manner... ADL* LAS* TWUP* FG* FH* But then I also want to sort within each name in the standard order by fashion. So, an example, if I have the following values LAS-21A TWUP-1 FG999 FH3 ADL99999 ADL88888 ADL77777 LAS2 I want it to be sorted like this... ADL77777 ADL88888 ADL99999 LAS2 TWUP-1 FG999 FH3 I initially thought I could accomplish this vias doing an order by decode(blah) with some like trickery inside of the decode but I've been unable to accomplish it. Any insights?

  I've been trying to select a list of values from XMLs stored in an XMLType column but I keep getting the errors which are listed at the tail end of this post. The select id is getXMLFragment , and the relevant subset of the sqlmap.xml is as follows: <select id="getXMLFragment" resultClass="list"> SELECT XMLCAST(XMLQUERY('$CUSTOMER/CUSTOMER/DETAILS/ CUST_NAME/text()' PASSING CUSTOMER AS "CUSTOMER" RETURNING CONTENT) AS VARCHAR2(20)) AS customers FROM SHOP.CLIENT_INFO </select> (CUSTOMER is an XMLType column in CLIENT_INFO) and I call the statement using List<String> custNames= (List<String>) sqlMap.queryForList("getXMLFragment"); I am using ibatis-2.3.4.726.jar. Is it because iBatis does not recognise XMLDB queries and hence, tokenizes the string wrongly? On a sidenote, I have implemented XMLTypeCallback.java to handle XMLType insertions successfully, and I think it will work should I wish to retrieve the entire XML. However, in this case, I need to extract only individual values due to requirements. A workaround would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.   Hi there, I am writing an application where the user has to move some stuff on the screen using his fingers and drop them. To do this, I am using the touchesBegan,touchesEnded... function of each view that has to be moved. The problem is that sometimes the views are covered by a view displayed using the [UIViewController presentModalViewController] function. As soon as that happens, the UIView that I was moving stops receiving the touch events, since it was covered up. But there is no event telling me that it stopped receiving the events, so I can reset the state of the moved view. The following is an example that demonstrates this. The functions are part of a UIView that is being shown in the main window. It listens to touch events and when I drag the finger for some distance, it presents a modal view that covers everything.   We are getting this exception when we start our cluster (2 managed servers, 1 admin), we have deployed only the ears corresponding to the OBPM 10.3.1 SP1 in a weblogic 10.3. When the server cluster starts, one of the managed servers (the first to start) get overloaded and ran out of connections to the directory DB because of this repeatedly error. OracleDBConsole for this db, and iSQLPlus services are started. When I run %ORACLE_HOME%\bin\emctl status dbconsole, it says, EM Daemon is not running. How do I deal with this?
