• Safari - showing expired .NET Page

  We have a strange problem in Safari. When the user logs out of our Web Application we expire the forms authentication with the following FormsAuthentication.SignOut(); Session.Abandon(); This works fine in IE and Firefox (when the user hits the back button they are presented with a page expired message and are forced to login) but in Safari the last page the user was working on shows up. I tried many of the suggested thinks like setting the Response.Expires but nothing helps , Has anyone faced this problem ? Do u have any suggestion / workarounds ? Thanks

• jQuery success:function{} issue

  I have several 'select' elements on the page. When I choose some of options, the ajax request is being sent to server and the element adjacent to this 'select' must be updated with response value. I expected the following code to be working: $(".vars").live("change", function() { //selected something in <select> list $.ajax({ type: "POST", url "someurl.php", data: {somedata}, success: function(html) { $this.next().html(html); //this does not update .next() element. } }); }); If I replace $(this).next().html(html); with alert(html); I can see the ajax request was successful. Moreover, it works only if there is only one 'select' on the page, otherwise the empty pop-up appears.

• is there a limit on the number of times navigator.geolocation.getCurrentPostion can be called ?

  Hi all, This is may not be a true programming question but deals with geolocation Api, hence hoping StackOverflow is the right place for this. I'm calling the navigator.geolocation.getCurrentPosition at every 3 seconds interval. After 10-15 tries the responses stop. So i'm wondering is there a limit on the number of calls being made, Or is it because i'm testing it with a desktop and hence instead of giving back the same response each time the API is waiting for a change of location. Anyone has any experiences to share ? Thanks

• Calling functions outside paths

  In mongojs, when you do: var birds = db.birds.find(searchTerm, callback); ...how do you pass arguments to the callback? I've tried bind, as in: birds = db.birds.find(searchTerm, app.get('getBirds').bind(res)); ...but to no avail. Just fyi I'm trying to pass the response object of the GET route so that the callback can render using res.send(results). The other option is to set app.set('res': res); and call app.get('res') from the callback - I'm not sure this is a good idea. It works, but it doesn't obey the events loop model too well - I think the request back to the app may be costly? Any help would be gratefully accepted. :)

• Error 500 on template.render() with jinja2

  I am working on playing with some Python to create a webapp. At first I put the HTML in a string, using %s to fill certain elements. That all worked perfectly. Now I want to put the HTML in a template, so I followed this tutorial. My code looks like this (I deleted irrelevant code for this error): import codecs import cgi import os import jinja2 jinja_environment = jinja2.Environment(loader=jinja2.FileSystemLoader(os.path.join(os.path.dirname(__file__)))) class Rot13Handler(webapp2.RequestHandler): def get(self): template = jinja_environment.get_template('rot13.html') self.response.out.write(template.render({'text': ''})) When I replace just template.render({'text': ''}) a random string, the program works fine. I did add the latest jinja2 library to my app.yaml, and naturally my rot13.html does exist with the {{ text }} added. So could anyone please help me in the right direction? I don't know why it's going wrong.

• allow editing of config files by WIndows Server 2008 admins running non-elevated?

  My company produces a cross-platform server application which loads its configuration from user-editable configuration files. On Windows, config files are locked down at Setup time to allow reading by all users but restrict editing to Administrators only. Unfortunately, on Windows Server 2008, even local administrators no longer have admin privileges (because of UAC) unless they're running an elevated app. My question is: if a Windows Server 2008 admin wants to edit an admins-only config file, how does he normally do it? Is he forced to use a text editor which is smart enough to auto-elevate when elevation is needed, like Windows Explorer does in response to access denied errors? Or is there something that we can do in our app (e.g. in ACLs we lay down at setup time) which signal apps (or explorer) that elevation is needed before editing the file or which otherwise make our app friendlier to admins running on modern Windows OS's?

• TTPhotoViewController: How to show small images

  Hi, I posted this question on Three20 google group but did not get any response. So I thought I try this forum. I am using TTPhotoViewController to display photos. I am following sample code given in Three20 sample project: TTCatalog/PhotoTest1Controller.m. In my case some of the images are less than (320,480). The problem which I am facing is that when my image is 200*300 then TTPhotoViewController re-sizes it to full screen on load which distorts the image. I was wondering if there is a way to tell TTPhotoViewController to display image in its actual size and not to resize it. The only thing which I have changed is viewDidLoad function in PhotoTest1Controller.m.   I have read some tutorials about creating an API and i wonder if XML-RPC and XML-RPC server in CodeIgniter are for creating this? If yes, what are the benefits of using these classes rather than im just using regular class/methods/params to create my API interface.   I have a reoccurring issue where a customer calls up and complains that the web site is too slow. Specifically, if they are inactive for a short period of time, then go back to the site, there will be a minute-two minute delay before the user sees a response. (the standard browser is Firefox in this case) I have Perfmon up and running, the cpu utilization is usually below 20% (single proc...don't ask). The database is humming along. And I'm pulling my hair out. So, what metrics/tools do you find useful when evaluating IIS performance?

  I have a php page called 'dataFetch.php' which sits on one webserver. On another webserver, I have a JS file which issues JSON calls to dataFetch. dataFetch connects to a database, retrieves data and puts it in a JSON format which is fed back to the calling program. In IE, this works fine. In other browsers it does not because of the cross domain restriction. To get across the cross-domain restriction, I make a call to a file, proxy.php, which then makes the call to dataFetch. My problem now is that proxy.php retrieves the file from dataFetch but the JS script file no longer sees the response from proxy.php as a JSON format and so I can't process it. Can anybody help me out?

Due to my requirement, I don't want to call the function after the documents' loaded, but rather to call it later when I need it. Because it was dynamically loaded, the DOM doesn't recognize the functions. How to properly call this function? Thank you

• Does Google appengine cache external requests?

  I have a very simple application running on appengine that requests a web page every five minutes and parses for a specific piece of data. Everything works fine except that the response I get back from the external request (using urllib2) doesn't reflect the latest changes to the page. Sometimes it takes a few minutes to get the latest, sometimes over an hour. Is there a transparent layer of caching that appengine puts in place? Or is there something else I am missing here? I've looked at the caching headers of the requested page and there is no Expires or LastModified's sent. Update: Sometimes, it will get the new version of the page for a number of requests and then randomly later get an old out of date version.

  I follow the direction in here How to configure SQL Server to manage ASP.NET sessions to create ASPState db. I have 2 web application in IIS 7. In IIS web application setting, i go to "Session State" and set session state as "SQL Server" and provide connection string. In each web application web.config, i add <sessionState mode="SQLServer" allowCustomSqlDatabase="false" sqlConnectionString="data source=server;user id=user;password=password" cookieless="false" timeout="7200" /> I create a session , Session["Data"] = "test" in Web App A and go to Web App B in the same browser to print it Response.Write(Session["Data"]); It shows NOTHING. I can see there are data in table : ASPStateTempApplications and ASPStateTempSessions under ASPState Database. Also, i dont see any error in event log. Can anyone think anything i may do wrong? Im guessing hte addlead.pl is just a posting page with no response.

  For SEO purposes the server renders out the full html template for a given URL on initial load. The site uses angularjs which detects the URL route and renders a client template from the JSON API. For example, you navigate to: /blog/post-title Server responds with post-title content. Angular loads, detects route: /blog/:post_slug and begins to load JSON and render client side template from response. Obviously what Angular does is fine when links are followed after the initial load, but on first load it duplicates effort. My question is if there is a clean way to prevent this situation.

  Some pseudocode from a typical web app: String a = "A bunch of text"; //UTF-16 saveTextInDb(a); //Write to Oracle VARCHAR(15) column String b = readTextFromDb(); //UTF-16 out.write(b); //Write to http response In the first line we create a Java String which uses UTF-16. When you save to Oracle VARCHAR(15) does Oracle also store this as UTF-16? Does the length of an Oracle VARCHAR refer to number of Unicode characters (and not number of bytes)? And then when we write b to the ServletResponse is this being written as UTF-16 or are we by default converting to another encoding like UTF-8?

• How can I retrieve cookies for webserver A when my project is deployed on webserver B?

  The project is multiple modules, each of them is deployed to a separate webserver. All of them on the same mainframe. (same IP address) I have a main menu where I login and then list all the available modules on all servers. From here I can click and go to any of them modules. I send cookies in the response (when logging in, say Server A), then on Server B (one of the modules) when I want to go back to the main menu, I check the cookies to see if the user is logged in. The problem is, Server B isn't seeing cookies generated by Server A. So each time I return to main menu, the user will be logged out. Is there anyway to store cookies to be used by multiple virtual webservers (on same IP) or any other idea?
