  • Jquery .Ajax error when trying to POST data in ASP.NET MVC

    I am unable to access an action in my controller using .ajax. The code works on my development machine but as soon as I place it on the server it gives the error 401 Unauthorized.   • ASP.net MVC Linq-To-SQL Many-To-Many Field Binding

    Hi there, The short version of this question is "Is there a way to gracefully handle database insertion for an object that has a many-to-many field that has been set up in a partial class?" Apologies if it's been asked before. Example Suppose I have a typical MVC setup with the tables: Posts {PostID, ...} Categories {CategoryID, ...} A post can have more than one category, and a category can identify more than one post. Thus suppose further that I need an extra table: PostCategories {PostID, CategoryID, ...} This handles the many-to-many relationship between posts and categories. As far as I know, there's no way to do this in Linq-to-SQL right now so I have to shoehorn it in by adding a partial Post class to the project to add that functionality. Something like: public partial class Post { public IEnumerable<Category> Categories{ get { ... } set { ... } } } So I can now create a "Create" view that automatically populates a "Categories" UI item. This is where the trouble starts. So here's my question: How do you get automatic object model binding to work cleanly with an object that has a many-to-many relationship to control? The workaround that makes many-to-many relationships possible relies on the Post object having a PostID in order to be associated with CategoryID(s), which is only issued after the Post object has been submitted for validation and insertion. Bit of a Catch22 here. Any terminology, links, or tips you can provide would be tremendously helpful!

    I have a list of data that I need to display in a web page 3 at a time The first needs to be displayed in a div called "left" , the second in a div called "centre" and the third in a div called "right". And I need to be able to scroll through the data with a pager. And so the next 3 results will be displayed in a similar way, and so on till the end of the data set Obviously the alternating templates in the repeater are not suitable for this. Is there a smarter way to achieve this?

    Hi -i'm trying to find all the anchor tags and appending the href value with a variable. for example <a href="/page.aspx">link</a> will become <a href="/page.aspx?id=2"> <A hRef='http://www.google.com'><img src='pic.jpg'></a> will become <A hRef='http://www.google.com?id=2'><img src='pic.jpg'></a> I'm able to match all the anchor tags and href values using regex, then i manually replace the values using string.replace, however i dont think its the efficient way to do this. Is there a solution where i can use something like regex.replace(html,newurlvalue)

    Hi, I have a form in a MS AJAX ModalPopup Extender, which is in a UpdatePanel (for async loading). Everything works as expected. There is one thing that I am trying to do but not sure how to do it. On form submission, there is server side validation on top of client side validation. My question is: what is the best way to display validation error messages if any? It would be ideal if the messages could be written to the popup asynchronously so that the popup is still there. If this is not possible, I am thinking of displaying the messages using the JavaScript alert box. Any insight and suggestions are greatly appreciated. John

    Hello, I'm trying to export data to a csv file, as there are chinese characters in the data i had to use unicode.. but after adding the preamble for unicode, the commas are not recognized as delimiters and all data are now written to the first column. I'm developing NerdDinner from scratch and now I came to point where I define DinnerViewModel.     I have UserControl, which is used for editing fields of some object. I had a page with this control, where user filled the fields, pressed "Submit" and object inserted in DB. And everything was Ok. But now user wants to insert several objects by one submit. So I need to implement dynamic adding of this control. What is the simpliest way to do it? The only way I see is to specify "+" button and to create control in its OnClick handler. But it is very dull. I think it is very common issue and there are better variants.

    Hello all, My question is quite simple, I created a DIV, with a HyperLink control in it. As following: I created an 'onclick' event in jQuery for the DIV as well: $('#divOne').click(function() { alert('You clicked on the DIV element'); }); My goal is to trigger this event when the DIV area is clicked (working fine), BUT- When the HyperLink is clicked, I need the page to redirect WITHOUT triggering the DIV 'onclick' event (can use JavaScript or jQuery as needed).     Anyone experience any issues with IIS7, integrated mode forms authentication while using IE8? I have a website with a login form, once logged in, any postback causes the user to be logged out. This doesn't even happen consistently, sometimes I can login and not experience this issue, other times it happens instantly. I can not replicate the problem in any other browser and I cannot replicate on my development machine running / debugging vs2010.

Since browsers have a culture setting that the web app uses to decide which locale to use, should I still have a "language" button for users to be able to override the culture?     After my publish in VS2010 the entire website loads and pulls data from the database perfectly. I can even create new users through the site with the correct key code, given out to who needs access. I have two connection strings in my web.config file The first: <add xdt:Transform="SetAttributes" xdt:Locator="Match(name)" name="EveModelContainer" connectionString="metadata=res://*/Models.EdmModel.EveModel.csdl|res://*/Models.EdmModel.EveModel.ssdl|res://*/Models.EdmModel.EveModel.msl;provider=System.Data.SqlClient;provider connection string=&quot;Data Source=localhost;Initial Catalog=fleet;Persist Security Info=True;User ID=fleet;Password=****&quot;" providerName="System.Data.EntityClient" /> The second: <add xdt:Transform="SetAttributes" xdt:Locator="Match(name)" name="ApplicationServices" connectionString="Data Source=localhost;Initial Catalog=fleet;Persist Security Info=True;User ID=fleet;Password=****;MultipleActiveResultSets=True" /> The first one is the one that is needed to post data with the main application, EveModelContainer. Everything else is pulled using the standard ApplicationServices connection. Do you see anything wrong with my connectionstring? I'm at a complete loss here. The site works perfectly on my friends server and not on mine... Could it be a provider issue? And if I go to iis 7's manager console, and click .net users I get a pop up message saying the custom provider isn't a trusted provider do I want to allow it to run at a higher trust level. I'm at the point where I think its either my string or this trusted provider error... but I have no clue how to add to the trusted provider list... Thank you in advance!!!
