• Really remove non-permanent certificate exception in firefox

  I visited japan.indymedia.org and firefox gave me the "Invalid certificate" screen. I added an exception, but did not click "Store this exception permanently." But now firefox still happily visits the same site without giving any warnings, even after a restart of the browser. I tried going to the Options-Advanced-Encryption-View Certificates-Servers to remove the certificate but I did not find it there. How to remove this exception and make firefox give me the warning when visiting the site?

• nginx url rewrites for php-urls

  i have to permament redirect some old urls in nginx. the old urls are old-style php urls including a parameter for loading content. they look like this: http://www.foo.com/index.php?site=foo http://www.foo.com/index.php?site=bar i want to redirect them to other urls like: http://www.foo.com/news http://www.foo.com/gallery any advice on how i can achieve this? my tries failed. thanks in advance!

  Hi somebody please help me out, I've asked this at stackoverflow as well but not got much of a response and was debating whether it was programming or server related. I’m trying to setup a cakephp environment on a Centos server running Nginx with Fact CGI. I already have a wordpress site running on the server and a phpmyadmin site so I have PHP configured correctly. My problem is that I cannot get the rewrite rules setup correct in my vhost so that cake renders pages correctly i.e. with styling and so on.   When going to Oracle's download site (https://cds.sun.com/is-bin/INTERSHOP.enfinity/WFS/CDS-CDS_SMI-Site/en_US/-/USD/ViewProductDetail-Start?ProductRef=java_ee_sdk-6u1u21-wjdk-oth-JPR@CDS-CDS_SMI) to download JDK for EE the download is over HTTP (not HTTPS) and the executable isn't signed. As far as I can tell, there are also no SHA1 hashes published so I have no way to verify that the code hasn't been altered. Does anybody know of a way to verify this or has Oracle not given any way to make sure this is secure?

• How to allow only specific directories to use htaccess?

  Currently in apache2.conf I have AllowOverride all set for /var/www which simply allows htaccess for all the sites on the server (which is Ubuntu, 9.04). However, I'd rather only allow overrides in each site root directory and nothing else. In other words, /var/www/site1, /var/www/site2, etc. can have a htaccess, but all other directories including /var/www and /var/www/site1/content cannot. Is there a way to do this without having to write a rule for every site on the server?

I need to define nginx error page (for error codes like 500, 501 etc), but i want to keep the layout same as that in other site pages. For site pages, i use the include functionality of django but in this case, since django won't preprocess the page, i need to create a pure html page. Is there a way to reuse the master page that i created in django for creating this error page?

• Undo clicking chrome never save password on the mac

  Sometimes you may want to undo your choice of "Never for this site" when Chrome asks if you want to save a password. But on the mac clicking on the "Show saved passwords" in the Preferences opens the Keychain Access app and you have no way to remove that site from the exceptions list. This is obviously a bug. I suppose that deleting all saved passwords will do but I don't want to delete them all. Is there any other workaround? (Chrome 6.0.472.63)

  While connected to a VPN (SwissVPN service), a content filter at a site I'm working at blocked a web page. This was perplexing, since the local site's filter should not be able to see my traffic, right? So I assume my web browsing activity was not going through the VPN tunnel. How can I configure the OS to send ALL traffic though the currently connected VPN tunnel? I'm using OSX Lion and Windows 7. Thanks!

  Okay, so this may be incredible stupid But I was configuring my httpd.conf file yesterday. After a server restart, I can no longer access it. Port 80 is working fine, and it displays my webpages, however when I access the site via ssh, it just says the connection was refused. I cannot access webmin which is port 10000 or access it via ftp :/ Do I need to recreate the whole site or is there a way to get into it? I think I messed up the virtual hosts :)

• mod_rewrite all but two files causing loop

  I'm trying to set up a web site to allow the creation of a semaphore file to close the site. The logic I want to follow is: when the semaphore file exists and the request is not for /style.css or /favicon.icon show the content of /closed.html I have 1 and 3 working, but my exceptions for 2 result in a processing loop when style.css or favicon.ico are requested. This is my most recent attempt: RewriteEngine on RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} !^/style.css RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} !^/favicon.ico RewriteCond /usr/local/etc/site/closed -f RewriteRule ^.*$ /closed.html [L] This is in a VirtualHost block, not in a Directory. There is no .htaccess file in play. I have also recently tried this, based on an answer I found elsewhere, but with the same (looping) result: RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} ^/style.css [OR] RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} ^/favicon.ico RewriteRule ^.*$ - [L] RewriteCond /usr/local/etc/site/closed -f RewriteRule ^.*$ /closed.html [L] I expect a request for /style.css or /favicon.ico to fail to match one of the first two rewrite conditions, which should prevent the URI from being rewritten, which should stop the mod_rewrite iteration. However, mod_rewrite seems to think the URI has been rewritten in those cases, and iterates over the rules again (and again, and again). The above works properly in all cases except for style.css or favicon.ico. In those cases I exceed the loop limits. What am I missing here to cause the rewrite iteration to stop when someone requests style.css or favicon.ico? EDIT: Here's a loglevel 9 example of what happens using the first ruleset when a request arrives for /style.css. • Can I have both apache and nginx serve my websites?

  I have an existing apache serving a couple of sites. Now I have a new django site that's ajax intensive and so I'm planning to run it on apache's mod_wsgi but I'll use nginx as a reverse proxy. Is it possible to have nginx be a reverse proxy to this new django site while make apache serve the other sites directly without using nginx? Also if you can give me a rough setup on how I might do it if its possible.

• Deploying Django on EC2 using Bitnami Djangostack: WSGI script cannot be loadded

  I've been struggling to deploy Django application on Amazon EC2 using Bitnami Djangostack for the last couple of days. When I go to http://dewey.io I see the default bitnami page (/opt/bitnami/apache2/htdocs/index.html), however, when I open http://dewey.io/portnoy, I get 'Internal Server Error'. But it's known that if mod_wsgi is setup correctly, the DocumentRoot value from httpd.conf is ignored, thus, I should see my Django application when accessing http://dewey.io. Essentially, the main error is this - 'Target WSGI script cannot be loaded as Python module'. Two questions: 1) any ideas how to fix these mod_wsgi errors (the Apache logs are below)? 2) how to disable the default /opt/bitnami/apache2/htdocs/index.html page and show my homepage from django application when accessing http://dewey.io? • How to Deploy Visual Web Developer Express to GoDaddy

  I have finished the programming on my first web site using Microsoft Visual Web Developer 2010 Express. I have copied all of the files to the GoDaddy server, but the site still displays "Coming Soon". I spoke with their tech support who tell me that there is no "index" file. I used the "Copy Web Site" function in VWD to move all the files over via FTP, so I know of no other files that should be copied. Nor do I understand what they are referring to as in "index" file. Has anybody else had this problem? Can anybody help me to figure out why this isn't working? Thanks! Randy

• Custom app_offline.htm file during publish

  When I publish my ASP.NET MVC application it generates a app_offline.htm file to take the site offline while it updates the website and then deletes the file once the publish is successful. This is cool and I really like the idea, but I want to create my own custom app_offline.htm file that the publish action is aware of and put it somewhere where it doesn't effect my development site - i.e. it doesn't sit in the root of my development site rendering it offline all the time. • IIS 6.0 Server Too Busy HTTP 503 Connection_Dropped DefaultAppPool

  We have a site which is running on a windows 2003 cluster with 2 64bit machines. The site needs to be able to cope with over 20,000 concurrent users One of the things that the site does is to allow the download of a 2MB file (which is cached in memory). We have low CPU and memory usage. We also have surplus bandwidth. It appears that we are running out of connections due the time it takes the user to download the file (some users have slow internet connections). In the IIS log we get HTTP 503 errors. In the HTTPErr log we get mainly Connection_Dropped DefaultAppPool with some Timer_EntityBody DefaultAppPool. Question is: How can we configure IIS to allow more connections? Or is there something that I am missing here? Thanks Shiraz
