• Could the HTML 5 Video tag pick up an IP Multicast Stream?

  I've been researching methods of getting an IP Multicast over UDP to the browser, and have found little that suggests I would be able to do it without using a plug-in like Java, Flash, or Silverlight in order to open a UDP port and (somehow) render the video. Checking out the HTML 5 <video> spec, there is (obviously) little in the way of specific implementation details, so as far as I can tell, there is nothing stopping a browser from parsing a address of the form "udp://224.1.1.1:8000" and joining a multicast group on that IP/port. Is this a correct understanding? Or must the resource pointed to by the <source> be a file?

• Debugging FLEX/AS3 memory leaks

  I have a pretty big Flex & Papervision3D application that creates and destroys objects continually. It also loads and unloads SWF resource files too. While it's running the SWF slowly consumes memory til about 2GB when it croaks the player. Obviously I am pretty sure I let go of reference to instances I no longer want with expectation the GC will do its job. But I am having a heck of a time figuring out where the problem lies. I've tried using the profiler and its options for capturing memory snapshots, etc - but my problem remains evasive. I think there are known problems using debug Flash player also? But I get no joy using the release version either. How do you go about tracking down memory leak problems using FLEX/AS3 ? What are some strategies, tricks, or tools you have used to locate consumption

• Can a masterpage reference another masterpage with the same content and contentplaceholder tags?

  Current Setup I currently have three masterpages and content pages in the following hierarchy : One root-level masterpage that displays the final result. Call this "A" Two sibling pages that don't reference each other but contain all the same contentplaceholder elements, just in a different order with different <div>'s surrounding them. Both reference the root-level masterpage. Call these "B1" and "B2". Several content pages that reference one or the other sibling master pages above (not both). Call these "C1" through "C-whatever". Basically I have: Cn = B1 = A Cm = B2 = A This hierarchy works fine. Desired Setup What I want to do is add in a new level to this hierarchy (a new master page) between the content pages and the sibling masterpages. Basically so it's like this: One root-level masterpage that displays the final result. Two sibling pages plus a third sibling. Call it B3 A new middle masterpage that dynamically 'chooses' one of the sibling masterpages. The desired behaviour is to pass through the content given by C directly to Bn without modifying it. The only thing D actively does is choose which Bn. Call this new masterpage D. Several content pages that reference the new middle master page instead of the old siblings. The challenge to this is, I'm working within the confines of a rather complex product and I cannot change the original two sibling masterpages (B1 and B2) or content pages (C) in any meaningful way. I want: Cn = D = B1 = A Cm = D = B2 = A Ck = D = B3 = A Essentially, D should "pass through" all it's content to whichever B-level masterpage it chooses. I can't put this logic in the C-level pages. Additional Details All B-level pages have the same content/contentplaceholder tags, just ordered and styled differently. D can be as convoluted as it has to be, so long as it doesn't require modifying C or B. I'm using ASP.Net 2.0 Is this possible?

• can not get jplayer plugin to work

  Hello, I hope somebody has some experience with the jplayer plugin I have been staring at the sourcecode of the demo's and looking in firebug, but I can't see why it is not showing at all. It also try's to use the flash file, but in other examples the embed code does not show up in the container div either. • Web Page Rendering Capture

  I start with describing the problem itself. Rather than a problem I'm looking for a better solution. I have a asp.net page which has a bunch of images and a link underneath it, Each image is infact the latest rendering of the link underneath it. I scheduled a bat script which runs every hour to fetch the images through IECapt a web page rendering capture utility. One thing am annoyed about this utility is it takes a lot of time for the 20 images I have and for few because of the flash content it misses to take the actual screenshot of the website. Now I like to know can this rendering be done by traditional programming am not interested in using any utilities. I'm interested in trying this. The solution need not be necessarily a C# based am ready to try in any other language. Because it gives me a chance to learn. Thank you.

• Method to capture a screenshot of user's browser to aid in bug reporting

  I'm looking for a way to make it easy for technically unsophisticated users to submit screenshots of their browser to me, to aid in debugging web application problems. There will be a button on all pages inside a web application they can use to report problems, which I would like to submit a screenshot (among other things). http://www.snapabug.com/ is very close to what I want, but I need to be able to customize a few things that service won't let me. Production environment is LAMP. I expect there must be something Flash-based that can do this, but I've not been able to find something. Thanks!

• Eclipse: Synchronizing project on Thumbdrive with PC

  I have a thumb drive (memory stick, flash drive, etc.) on which I use for my projects when I am away from my home PC. Currently I am accessing my Eclipse project directly from my thumb drive when connected to my PC. I would like to copy my files to the PC, develop on the PC, then "synchronize" with the thumb drive (update files on the thumb drive). I also need the reverse process too: synchronize thumb drive files with files on PC. I have looked at the FileSync plugin, but it specifically says it is one-way. How can I synchronize my Eclipse project both directions (PC to thumb drive and thumb drive to PC) on demand (I don't need this done automagically)?

I see all around searching on the web - in articles from 2008 and 2009 - that they were adding Silverlight support in WinMo 6.1, for example: Internet Explorer Mobile The new version of Internet Explorer Mobile adds the ability to easily view full-screen Web pages and multimedia on the Web with a smartphone. Microsoft's press release states the new version takes advantage of "Internet Explorer 6 technologies" and supports industry standards such as H.264, Adobe Flash and Microsoft Silverlight. The update will be available to mobile phone partners in the third quarter of 2008, with the first Windows Mobile phones using the new version expected to be available by the end of 2008. But I have found an SL app supposedly geared for mobile devices (as much as I hate weatherbug), but when i try going there in PIE on my WinMo 6.1 device, it shows me the little "get silverlight" image button, but clicking it doesn't do anything. So, what is the story? Is SL/WinMo development possible, or ?

  Hi, I'm trying to implement SwfUpload in my web page, and I'm using php to save files on server. As is the first time I use this component, I choose to run the algoritm is suggested from the SwfUpload team (http://swfupload.org/forum/generaldiscussion/214): I've put it in a file and I've said the control to use it as code file. It didn't work, as I'm asking help, but what really drives me crazy is that i really don't know how to debug that stuff! The request to the file is encapsulated into the flash object, and i can't get any feedback from it if something goes wrong. Anyone is more experienced than me about this control? Thanks

• Which is a good opensource user management system?

  I'm new to php/mySQL and am trying to create a website which will allow users to register. In future, there will be a paid content area where content will be shown based on the payment status. Is there a good opensource lightweight framework which takes care of the user management part? (Register, edit user info, retrieve lost password etc). I'm a flash platform developer and not aware of how to take care of stuff like session hijacking, XSS etc. Should I go ahead and learn to do all this on my own, without using any framework? I thought of using Wordpress' user management system, but not sure how easy that would be. Any suggestion would be great.

• jQuery prevent paste to iframe designmode from MS Word

  I've seen some questions on catching the paste event. This looks helpful. But I want to prevent paste on a designmode iframe from happening when the pasted content is not plaintext, but comes from MS Word or other WYSIWYG editor. What is experience on that? I suppose I should catch the event (bind to iframe or to its body?) and look for some specific tags in the clipboard. What content does Internet Explorer add every time? [edit] After doing more research I see there is no easy way to work with clipboard in non Internet Explorer browser except some Flash tricks. I don't want them. How can I detect paste in Firefox and others then?

  Hello everybody. I'm doing a small web app, which uses CKeditor for user input, and CKfinder for file management (images/flash). Those who know CKFinder, also know that the config file for CKFinder as a function named CheckAuthentication() that returns false or true, giving or not permissions to use CKFinder. This is were a Custom PHP Code checks if the user as authorization to access CKFinder or not. Well for my app I'm using Code Igniter, and of course I've created a model were i handle everything about User Permissions, Loggin, Session Cookies, etc. And i also have a function witch its propose is just to check if the user is Logged in. So I would like to know if someone knows a way that i can call the function isLoggedIn() inside the model security from inside the function CheckAuthentication() in CKFinder config file. • Trouble using Loader, can't access properties of loaded swf

  May not have asked question correctly so I’m asking again. I’m using Flash AS3 with code in actions layer. Main movieclip onstage is : design_mc. Within it is a movieclip already in place onstage with an instance name clipart_mc. Now I’m also loading a ListBox to the stage and each time a selection is made from listbox myLoader9 is used to load selected .swf into design_mc.clipArt_mc. Now within each of the .swf files loaded into design_mc.clipArt_mc there is a mc I’d like to color transform called color_mc. So now the listbox is onstage and I make a selection that places heart.swf inside of design_mc.clipArt_mc. I want to access heart.swf so I did this: var child:DisplayObject = myLoader9.content.contentLoaderInfo.content.color_mc; var colorTrans3:ColorTransform = new ColorTransform(); var trans3:Transform = new Transform(child); I still can not get to heart.swf. It works great with sites that are anonymous, but I have not been able to use it against a site that is expecting username\password (IIS with Integrated Windows Authentication). • How to not persist NSManagedObjects retrieved from NSManagedObjectContext

  Hi I parse an xml file containing books, for each new node I go: Book *book = (Book*)[NSEntityDescription insertNewObjectForEntityForName:@"Book" inManagedObjectContext:managedObjectContext]; To obtain an NSManagedObject of my Core Data Book Entity, I then proceed to populate the managed Book object with data, add it to an array, rinse, repeat. When I am done, I present the list of books to the user. I have not yet executed the save: NSError *error; if (![managedObjectContext save:&error]) { NSLog(@"%@", [error domain]); } The user now selects one of the books, this one I would like to persist, but only this one, all the other books are of no interest to me any more. The Book Entity does not have/or is part of any relationships. It is just a "single" Entity. If I pull the "save lever" every Book object will be persisted and I will have to delete everything but my desired one. How would I get around this challenge, I can't really seem to find that particular use-case in the Core Data Programming Guide, which sort of also bugs me a bit, am I going against best practice here? • Some animation requests in a Silverlight application

  I am making a flash card application. It shows the question and then a textbox for user input, all wrapped in a border or rectangle. So what I want is an animation that "flips" the rectangle or border upside-down and then their is text on the "back". Also, I want my application to APPEAR transition from one card to another by "flying off" the screen then "another" card comes in to replace the other one in the opposite direction. But actually I'm want just a little animation of the border or rectangle moving off the screen then coming back in, but in the opposite direction.

• OpenGL es 2.0 Read depth buffer

  Hi! As far as i know, we can't read the Z(depth) value in OpenGL ES 2.0. So I am wondering how we can get the 3D world coordinates from a point on the 2D screen? Actually I have some random thoughts might work. Since we can read the RGBA value by using glReadPixels, how about we duplicate the depth buffer and store it in a color buffer(say ColorforDepth). Of course there need to be some nice convention so that we don't lose any information of the depth buffer. And then when we need a point's world coordinates , we attach this ColorforDepth color buffer to the framebuffer and then render it. So when we use glReadPixels to read the depth information at this frame. However, this will lead to 1 frame flash since the colorbuffer is a weird buffer translated from the depth buffer. I am still wondering if there is some standard way to get the depth in OpenGL es 2.0? Thx in advance!:)

• How do I code Citrix web sites to use a Secure Gateway (CSG)?

  I'm using Citrix's sample code as a base and trying to get it to generate ICA files that direct the client to use their Secure Gateway (CSG) provider. My configuration is that the ICA file's server address is replaced with a CSG ticket and traffic is forced to go to the CSG. The challenge is that both the Citrix App Server (that's providing the ICA session on 1494) and the CSG have to coordinate through a Secure Ticket Authority (STA). That means that my code needs to talk to the STA as it creates the ICA file because STA holds a ticket that the CSG needs embedded into the ICA file. Confusing? Sure! But it's much more secure. The pre-CSG code looks like this: AppLaunchInfo launchInfo = (AppLaunchInfo)userContext.launchApp(appID, new AppLaunchParams(ClientType.ICA_30)); ICAFile icaFile = userContext.convertToICAFile(launchInfo, null, null); I tried to the SSLEnabled information to the ICA generation, but it was not enough. here's that code: launchInfo.setSSLEnabled(true); launchInfo.setSSLAddress(new ServiceAddress("CSG URL", 443)); Now, it looks like I need to register the STA when I configure my farm: ConnectionRoutingPolicy policy = config.getDMZRoutingPolicy(); policy.getRules().clear(); //Set the Secure Ticketing Authorities (STAs). • IIS: Anonymous and WIndows Authentication

  Scenario For a multiple file uploader I am implementing, I need to have a handler within a windows authenticated site that uses anonymous access. As detailed here, this is because Flash cannot use windows authentication. The aforementioned post states that the only way to accomplish this is to create a completely separate site. However, this seems like a big hassle just for an uploader. Is there a way to work around this limitation of IIS? Notes I am using asp.net 3.0 and IIS6 on a Windows 2003 Server with Service Pack 2.

• Why does ASP.Net locks when I update code with TortoiseSVN

  Hi, when I update Adobe Flash/Flex code that is not related to ASP.Net with TortoiseSVN (latest) on a Windows Server 2008, the complete website locks and stop responding. Is it ASP.Net recompiling my code, is it IIS 7 or is it Tortoise locking the file system? How can I prevent or minimize this if I need to do an update when 1000 users are using the ASP.Net website? UPDATE: Thanks to Aito and Bryan, I learned more about AppDomain. I found these two links where I discover that folder creation/deletion recycle the AppDomain in ASP.Net 2. --If TortoiseSVN creates folders in it's hidden .svn folders hierarchy, I guess it will lock the app!
