  Hello, I am trying to create a web application using the MCV design pattern. For the gui part I would like to use javascript. And for the controller Java Servlets. Now I have never really worked with javascript, so I'm having a hard time figuring out how to call a java servlet from javascript and how to get the response from the servlet. Say If i have a class with a few getters and setters, a method or two, and i want those methods only to be invokable on an instance object of the class. I'm trying to find the best way to display images inside of UILabels (in fact, I wouldn't mind switching to something other than UILabel if it supports images with no hassle) The scenario is: I have a table view with hundreds of cells and UILabel being the main component of each cell The text I assign to each cell contains sequences of characters that need to be parsed out and represented as an image In simpler words, imagine a TableView of an instant messenger that parses replaces all ":)", ":(", ":D" etc with corresponding smiley images Any input would be greatly appreciated!

  Hello, I have the following (simplified) query select P.peopleID, P.peopleName, ED.DataNumber from peopleTable P left outer join ( select PE.peopleID, PE.DataNumber from formElements FE inner join peopleExtra PE on PE.ElementID = FE.FormElementID where FE.FormComponentID = 42 ) ED on ED.peopleID = P.peopleID Without the sub-query this procedure takes ~7 seconds, but with it, it takes about 3minutes. Given that table peopleExtra is rather large, is there a more efficient way to do that join (short of restructuring the DB) ?

  Hello, I have a password hash that is stored in a table and is put there by the following coldfusion script- #Hash(EnCrypt(UCase(GetPass.username),EnCode))# I am trying to add some outside functionality within a c# application. I would like to be able to take advantage of the data that already exists so that I can authenticate users. Does anyone know how I can replicate the above coldfusion code in c#?
