    Hello. I'm currently using sp_executesql to execute a T-SQL statement with a dynamic table name. However, it is really ugly to see something like: set sql = 'UPDATE '+Table_Name+' SET ... WHERE '+someVar+' = ... AND '+someVar2' = ...' sp_executesql sql What I would rather like to have is a TABLE variable of which is a reference to a table, so I could do for example: UPDATE TableRef SET ... WHERE ... Because when I have really long T-SQL statements it gets really hard to read due to the format of it within a string. Any suggestions would be helpful. Thanks!

    I'm building packages of our internal software products using EPM, and over time these packages (of which we have a large number) clutter up the output of pkg_delete and pkg_add with the following general kind of messages: err: pkg_add: package MYPACKAGE has no origin recorded I can see from some old FreeBSD lists that the +CONTENTS file in the package must have a line like this: @comment ORIGIN:some_source_path What I don't see is a way to get this line in place using EPM. Can somebody tell me how to do this?

  • Is it possible to create a domain model for legacy code without refactoring?

    I currently have a client that wants me to 'abstract' out a domain model from the existing code but they specifically said that I shouldn't refactor the existing code itself. My question is 1) whether or not this is advisable and 2) what techniques would you apply in this scenario if you can't refactor the code yet they expect you to come up with a model for it? (EDIT: I can't quite put my finger on it, but somehow, not being able to refactor in this case just feels wrong. Has anyone else run into this type of scenario?)

    Hi, I'm a beginner at Ruby On Rails and am trying to get a migration to work with the name Priorities So, here is the code I use in my migration: class Priorities < ActiveRecord::Migration def self.up create_table :priorities do |t| t.column :name, :string, :null => false, :limit => 32 end Priority.create :name => "Critical" Priority.create :name => "Major" Priority.create :name => "Minor" end def self.down drop_table :priorities end end This results in the following error though: NOTICE: CREATE TABLE will create implicit sequence "priorities_id_seq" for serial column "priorities.id" NOTICE: CREATE TABLE / PRIMARY KEY will create implicit index "priorities_pkey" for table "priorities" rake aborted! An error has occurred, this and all later migrations canceled: uninitialized constant Priorities::Priority Is this some problem with turning ies to y for converting something plural to singular?

My issues is that, when i run my application in different machines, the form display is not proper accross the monitory screen. In some machines i noticed extra space on leftside of the container. In some other machine's it is vice versa. If you maximize or restore the form, the size varies. I tried to check the window form design on different machines using visual studio 2008, there also the form design looks differently. Please give me the solution to fix this issue. So Given a list of companies, each wrapped in an tag. When the cursor hovers over an tag Then a "pop-up" appears that contains an -based, dynamic content. Given the pop-up When the User clicks on the "submit" button in the pop-up Then the form (based on the framework" is submitted and ajax displays "request succesful" So, because I am using a php-framework, I'd like to use iframe to contain the form. Some challenges: When the cursor is no longer hovering over the tag, the hover disappears. How do I keep it operating? How do I make it appear in an so I can have full form-submission and POST-ing dynamic values through the URL? How do the "popup" disappear when the cursor is no longer on either the -tag or the pop-up itself? Can I do it without loading a bunch of 's onto the page, because the list of companies could be long.

    I used to work with flot but it doesn't support pie charts so I'm forced to change. I just saw JS Charts, but their documentation is very obscure regarding cross browser compatibility (I need it to be IE6+ compliant :). Also this will be for commercial use, so I'd rather have something that I can use free of charge jQuery Google chart looks really nice and is well integrated with rails (the framework I'm using) but I'm not sure how good it is. So what do you guys use? What would you recommend keeping in mind that: It will be for commercial use (I can deal with a license, but I'd rather avoid that) It needs to be javascript (no svg, no flash please) It needs to be compatible with IE6+, FF, Chrome, Opera and Safari It needs to be pretty ^^ If it uses jQuery it's even better

    How do I determine the type of a class that is related to another class at runtime? I have figured out a solution, the only problem is that I ended up having to use a define that has to be used in all of the derived classes. Is there a simpler way to do this that doesn't need the define or a copy paste?   • How to create platform independent 3D video on 3D TV via HDMI 1.4?

    I am writing a real-time, interactive 3D visualization program and at each point in the program, I can compute 2 images (bitmaps) that are meant to look 3D together by means of stereoscopy. How do I get my program to display the image pairs such that they look 3D on a 3D TV? Is there a platform independent way of accomplishing it? (By platform I mean independent of GPU brand, operating system, 3D TV vendor, etc.) If not, which is preferable-- to lock in by GPU, OS, or 3D TV? I suppose I need to be using an HDMI 1.4 cable with the 3D TV? HDMI 1.4 can encode stereoscopy via side-by-side method. But how do I send such an encoded signal to the monitor? What kind of libraries do I use for this sort of thing? Windows DirectShow? If DirectShow is correct, is there a cross platform equivalent available? If anyone asks, yes I have seen this question: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/2811350/generating-3d-tv-stereoscopic-output-programmatically. However, correct me if I am wrong, it does not appear to be what I'm looking for. I do not have an OpenGL or Direct3D program that generates polygons, for which a Nvidia card can do ad-hoc impromptu stereoscopy simply by rendering the scene from 2 slightly offset points of view and then displaying those 2 images on the monitor-- my program already has those image pairs and needs to display them (and they are not the result of rendering polygons). Btw, I have never done any major multimedia programming before and know very little about HDMI, Direct Show, 3D TVs, etc so pardon me if any parts of this question did not make any sense at all.
