I'm having trouble with SQL server CE, as I was going to connect it with the DataGridView, but I'm very new to this kind of work, and wondered if it was even necessary to use SQL.

  Is there an API for Android that will find other people nearby running the same app? For instance, if you were to perform a "scan" it tries to find other people running the same app nearby. Would it be possible to perform the same task across multiple OS (Android, iPhone, Windows, etc.)? Or would the best way be to just have the app communicate to a server your location and have a server-side app that pushes a list of others nearby??? My goal is to find an easy way to eventually transmit data between two devices contigent on those that are nearby.

  I'm in the process of building an app and would prefer to have an in-app specific Settings bundle rather than make it available in the Settings application. I'm using NSUserDefaults class to save and retrieve them but would like to have the same Settings app look and feel. I wanted to use InAppSettingsKit or the llamasettings but don't know how to use the NSUserDefaults class. Those kits tell me how to create a .plist file and use their kits. All I need is use the Settings app look and feel while at the same time use NSUserDefaults class to save and retrieve values. Please help.

I've searched for opensource projects to look and the only thing I had found was django-cashflow. This app uses python-money. I've read some of the code and the ways it's coded seems a bit weird to me and it's not fully complete. Is the app worth to take a deep look? Does anyone know about another similar app? • Enumerate printers on a Mac

  So, I'm familiar how to enumerate the printers using the Windows API, there are a ton of examples out there. What I gathered from here is that I can find the printers in the /Library/Printers/ directory. When I searched there, I found more folders which didn't really mean anything to me. To keep it simple, how do I query the mac to get a list of printers (local and networked) "attached" to the system? Or can anyone point me in the right direction?

  I need to have a trial period (7 days) in my application. From this I came to know that you can do that by keeping permanent file, database or shared preference. Where do I keep that file so that the user isn't able to see/delete it. If I put that logic in Sharedpreference or a file with a path "data/data/packagename", when the application is uninstalled then all history will be lost. Any other workaround/ideas? Note: there is no server, application works locally with no Internet.

  I'd like to add Elements to a StackPanel (or Listbox / Listview if it would make that easier) and automatically add a Button (like "...") to indicate that there are more children than there is space for. Consider a calendar that has appointment items in each day. If there are more appointments than as much as can be displayed a button is displayed to go to a detailed view for that day. Can this be done automatically, or how do I calculate the positions of the stackpanel and its items. It's for windows store development in c#. Thanks in advance.

I am using listboxes and doing listbox.Items.Add(title); but how to get Id also and specially hidden from users like lookup column does....means I can do like this... listbox.Items.Add(title+"#;" + SPListitem.ID)... but I dont want this....   I am writing a small program for my assignment to find the primitive roots of a prime number. So far, the program works for smaller prime numbers till 13 and gives correct number of roots. But for higher primes numbers, it is showing only fewer primitive roots. And now i got stuck for the prime number 41, shows no primitive roots for it. I used DOUBLE datatype for the calculation, and again tried with the datatype DECIMAL, but no luck. Does anyone know about this kind of problem??? Thank you.

  I want to create an iphone application which consists of two parts: The app itself and a server side component. On a users request, the app sends data to the server which is to be handled by human operators. To prevent abuse from an iphone app user, the id of the iphone is sent along with the request, and the operators can blacklist pranksters to deny their iphone access to the service. So far so good. Now the problem is: Someone could easily discover the address of the serverside component, and write a script to send bogus requests, using multiple IP addresses etc. So my question is: how can I defend myself against this? Captchas to protect against scripted attacks or requiring the user to register himself are not an option for this particular application. If I had control of the download, I would associate a unique ID with each downloaded app, but obviously this is not an option with the appstore. What would be your approach to make the server side part more secure?

• How should I best store these files?

  I have a set of image files, they are generally very small, between 5k and 100k. They can be any size though, upwards of 50mb but this is very rare. When these images are put into the system they are not ever modified. There is about 50 TB of these images total. They are currently chunked and stored in BLOBs in Oracle, but we want to change this since it requires special software to extract them. These images are access sometimes at a rate of over 100 requests per second among about 10 servers. I'm thinking about Hadoop or Cassandra, but I really don't know which would be best or how best to index them.

  When getopt or getopt_long encounters an illegal option, it stores the offending option character in optopt. When the illegal option is a long option, where can I find out what the option was? And does anything meaningful get stored in optopt then? I've set opterr = 0 to suppress the automatically printed error message.   Hello all! I have a Flex GUI where I have to place quadrate elements. The position of these elements need to be stored into a database. So I can create two integer fields in the db table x and y. Also I need an angle, because the user can rotate these elements, so I can also make a int (int is okay, I do not need a double value therefore). As a ORM, I use Hibernate. But the question is, if creating three integer fields is the best way to handle this. Perhaps someone can tell me if this will be okay or if there are better ways?
