• WCF Service worker thread communicate with ServiceHost thread

  I have a windows NT Service that opens a ServiceHost object. The service host context is per-session so for each client a new worker thread is created. What I am trying to do is have each worker thread make calls to the thread that started the service host. The NT Service needs to open a VPN connection and poll information from a device on the remote network. The information is stored in a SQL database for the worker threads to read. I only want to poll the device if there is a client connected, which will reduce network trafic. I would like the worker threads to tell the service host thread that they are requesting information and start the polling and updating the database. Everything is working if the device is alway being polled and the database being updated.

• Update to php5.3 breaks connecting to mysql db

  I just updated php to 5.3 and can no longer connect to my remote mysql server. I get the following errors: mysqli_connect(): OK packet 6 bytes shorter than expected mysqli_connect(): (HY000/2000): mysqlnd cannot connect to MySQL 4.1+ using old authentication It seems this has to do with the new mysqlnd driver. Is there a way to force it to use the old libmysql driver. Also, reverting to php5.2.11 doesn't seem to fix the issue which seems to work for most people. Anyone have any suggestions? thanks!

• Maintain set of local commits working with git-svn

  I am using git to develop against a project hosted in subversion, using git-svn: git svn clone svn://project/ My general workflow has been to repeatedly edit-and-commit on the master branch, then commit to the svn repository via: git stash git svn dcommit git stash apply One of the local modifications that 'stash' command is preserving, that I don't want to commit to the svn repository, is a changed database connection string. What's the most convenient way to keep this local change without the extra 'stash' steps? I suspect that something like 'stash' or 'quilt' is what I'm looking for, but I'm still new enough to git that I think I'm missing some terminology that would lead to the exact incantation. Update: The only solution I found that seems to avoid the git stash + git-svn action + git stash apply series was to update the git-svn ref manually: (check in local-only change to 'master', then...) $ cat .git/refs/master > .git/refs/remote/git-svn $ git svn fetch (with at least one new SVN revision) And that leaves the local-only commit as a weird (probably unsafe) commit between two svn revisions.

• java.security.AccessControlException: access denied using Java Web Start

  I am having some issues with accessing files using JWS (Java Web Start). The program adds a new label and image. The program runs fine on my local computer but gives me pages of errors when I run the program on my remote server using JWS. Here's a sample of the error: Exception in thread "AWT-EventQueue-0" java.security.AccessControlException: access denied (java.io.FilePermission add2.png read) at java.security.AccessControlContext.checkPermission(Unknown Source) at java.security.AccessController.checkPermission(Unknown Source) at java.lang.SecurityManager.checkPermission(Unknown Source) This occurs even after making sure the images have read access. Ideas?

• Synchronize model in MySQL Workbench

  After reading the documentation for MySQL Workbench I got the impression that it's possible to alter a database in the server (e.g. add a new column) and later incorporate the DDL changes into your EER diagram. At least, it has a Synchronize Model option in the Database menu. I found it a nice feature because I could use a graphic modelling tool without becoming its prisoner. In practice, when I run such tool I'm offered these options: Model Update Source ================ ====== ====== my_database_name --> ! N/A my_table_name --> ! N/A N/A --> ! my_database_name N/A --> ! my_table_name I can't really understand it, but leaving it as is I basically get: DROP SCHEMA my_database_name CREATE SCHEMA my_database_name CREATE TABLE my_table_name This is dump of the model that overwrites all remote changes in my_table_name. Am I misunderstanding the feature?

You've successfully authenticated, but GitHub does not provide shell access. Connection to github.com closed But when I go to clone my repo it fails saying: Permission denied (publickey). fatal: The remote end hung up unexpectedly I've used Github a lot, but this is my first use of it from an Ubuntu computer, is there something I am missing here? I am trying to point it to a db on a remote server. I have a feeling it is somewhere in IIS orthe Machine Config. I'd like to add it to my WEB.CONFIG Could someone help me to do this?

• Are the svn ruby bindings provided as a gem?

  I see a couple dozen gems that relate to svn, but what little documentation I can find on any of them shows that they are command-line wrappers and misc helpers. (svn-command, svn-hooks, etc.) I've seen code in the wild that does things like: require 'svn/core' and SVN.Repos.add(...), but the author of that module pulled his svn ruby tools via apt-get. This would not be an option for me, as I'm developing a windows/osx tool. Which gem am I after? From there, I'm happy to dig through code in lieu of documents, but with a call to gem query --name-matches svn --remote returning about 30 hits, I need to narrow it down a bit first.

  Hi all, I would like to implement a application which backs up all the internal datas like sms, mms, videos, audios, documents, call history stored in iPhone. But this seems to be not possible with api docs that the apple has released so far ... I have gone through the pdf of ENterprise distribution program and some of the links related to Enterprise Distribution Program, specifies about the Remote wipe and accessing of internal datas like Calendar, sms, mms ect .... But they didnt mention how to do it programmatically. Does Apple provide any special priviledges like extra api support to access the internal data in their Enterprise Distribution Program?. Is there any difference between Enterprise Distribution Program and Standard Distribution Program in the development point of view? And since in-house distribution does not require Apple approval, shall we use some other method which are not officially mentioned in apple docs, to access the internal stored data .. So I'm currently working on an ePub reader application, and I've been reading through a bunch of regular XML files just fine with System.Xml and XmlDocument: XmlDocument xmldoc = new XmlDocument(); xmldoc.Load(Path.Combine(Directory.GetCurrentDirectory(), "META-INF/container.xml")); XmlNodeList xnl = xmldoc.GetElementsByTagName("rootfile"); However, now I'm trying to open the XHTML files that contain the actual book text, and they're XHTML files. Now I don't really know the difference between the two, but I'm getting the following error with this code (in the same document, using the same XmlDocument and XmlNodeList variable) xmldoc.Load(Path.Combine(Directory.GetCurrentDirectory(), "OEBPS/part1.xhtml")); "WebException was unhandled: The remote server returned an error: (503) Server Unavailable" It's a local document, so I'm not understanding why it's giving this error?   How can I make my client treat 404 Error correctly? Right now it catches a general exception... My WCF Server uses WebOperationContext.Current.OutgoingResponse.SetStatusAsNotFound(); To return a 404 Error code however my WCF client interperts it as an EndPointNotFoundException There was no endpoint listening at http://myUrl that could accept the message. This is often caused by an incorrect address or SOAP action. See InnerException, if present, for more details. The inner exception is WebException "The remote server returned an error: (404) Not Found.

• Change present working directory of a calling shell from a ruby script

  I'm writing a simple ruby sandbox command-line utility to copy and unzip directories from a remote filesystem to a local scratch directory in order to unzip them and let users edit the files. I'm using Dir.mktmpdir as the default scratch directory, which gives a really ugly path (for example: /var/folders/zz/zzzivhrRnAmviuee+++1vE+++yo/-Tmp-/d20100311-70034-abz5zj) I'd like the last action of the copy-and-unzip script to cd the calling shell into the new scratch directory so people can access it easily, but I can't figure out how to change the PWD of the calling shell. One possibility is to have the utility print out the new path to stdout and then run the script as part of a subshell (i.e. cd $(sandbox my_dir) ), but I want to print out progress on the copy-and-unzipping since it can take up to 10 minutes, so this won't work. Should I just have it go to a pre-determined, easy-to-find scratch directory? Does anyone have a better suggestion? Thanks in advance for your help. -Erik

  I created a local Git repo on my laptop and then pushed the source to Heroku creating a remote branch. After a few days of commits and pushes, I need to rollback to an earlier commit. Here's what I did. cd <app root> git checkout 35fbd894eef3e114c814cc3c7ac7bb50b28f6b73 Someone told me that doing the checkout created a new working tree(?) and not the branch itself, so when I pushed the rollback changes to Heroku, it said everything is up to date and nothing was pushed. How do I fix this situation? Thanks for your help in advance.

  Hello. I have a batch file named a.bat on a winserver2008 Desktop. That batch file only write the SessionID (from environment variable) to a local eventlog. I want to execute it remotely using cmd (otherwise the SessionName doesn't appear). so I have tried c:\PsTools\psexec.exe \\<Server> -u test2 -p <Password> -i 2 cmd "c:\Users\test-2\Desktop\a" or c:\PsTools\psexec.exe \\<server> -u test2 -p <Password> -i 2 "cmd \"c:\Users\test-2\Desktop\a\"";exit all of these just open a terminal on the remote machine but don't execute the batch. • What can cause throughput to become really slow when an ISAPI filter implements SF_NOTIFY_SEND_RAW_D

  I have an ISAPI filter for IIS6 that I've been developing for a while, but I just noticed something disturbing. Anytime I have the filter installed and I download a file, the file download becomes really slow. From a remote machine I'm getting ~120kb per second without the filter installed, and ~45kb per second with the filter installed. This seems to be related to the SF_NOTIFY_SEND_RAW_DATA callback. Whenever I register for this callback, I get the slow downloads, when I don't register for it, everything is fine. Even if I make my HttpFilterProc function just return immediately, like this: DWORD WINAPI HttpFilterProc( PHTTP_FILTER_CONTEXT pfc, DWORD notificationType, LPVOID pvNotification ) { return SF_STATUS_REQ_NEXT_NOTIFICATION; } I've also tried returning SF_STATUS_REQ_HANDLED_NOTIFICATION with the same result. Is it possible that I have some build setting on my DLL that is causing a slow execution of the callback function, or is this just the way it's going to be with ISAPI?

  Hi , We are trying to transfer data from oracle database (about 60,0000) records only to a sharepoint list using SSIS. But we are getting following error when records reaches around 19000 . The attempt to add a row to the Data Flow task buffer failed with error code 0xC0047020 and System.ServiceModel.ProtocolException: The remote server returned an unexpected response: (400) Bad Request. Earlier we thought if could because of Sharepoint list limit so we tried by reducing two of the columns and then it has went fine. So we left with one of the column of Datatype DT_STR and length 400 in oracle beacuse of which issue might be happening, It is mapped to sharepoint custom list field of multiline type. We also verified if length of field is issue but in oracle DB for all records max length for this column is only 239 so length issue is also ruled out. My frame is has two Jpanels Image Panel and Feature Panel, Feature Panel is overlapping Image Panel, the Image Panel is working as a background and it is loading image from a remote Url, now I want to draw shaps on Feature Panel , but now Image Panel cannot be seen due to Feature Panel's background color. I need to make Feature Panel background transparent while still drawing its shapes and i want Image Panel to be visible since it is doing tiling and cache function of images. I need to seperate the image drawing and shape drawing thats why I`m using two jPanels! is there anyway the overlapping Jpanel have a transparent background? thanks

• Object/Module not found: RDS from VB6 app to a Win2003 server

  I have a rather legacy application EXE written in VB6 and running on a Windows 2000 server that uses RDS (Remote Data Services) to access a business object DLL (also written in VB6) running on a Windows 2003 server. The DLL has never run on this server (we're moving the component off the old W2K server), but it is registered and defined as a component on the W2k+3 server. The specific code where the DLL is being called is: Private m_rdsDS As RDS.DataSpace Dim oARImport As Object Set oARImport = m_rdsDS.CreateObject("ARBatches.BL_ARBatches", txtWebServer) MsgBox oARImport.AddBatches(m_vConnParms, arbParseString, LinesFromFile) The CreateObject appears to work fine, but calling the method AddBatches raises the error number 8209 "Internet Server Error: Object/module not found." I'm leaning towards the idea that there is a permission issue somewhere at the root of the problem, but if this were the case, why wouldn't it say "You don't have permission"? I'd really like to rewrite the whole app but "they" won't let me.

• How to access the Principal from a Java service object without using FlexContext?

  We're building some Java objects that are exposed via BlazeDS to our flex client application. So basically the BlazeDS messagebroker servlet instantiates and invokes methods on these objects in response to client requests. Works great. We're using app server-based authentication and have set up a security constraint on the <destination> elements in the remoting-config.xml file element to prevent unauthenticated clients from being able to access these remote java objects. Again, works fine. However, there are several places within the implementation of these java objects where we want to get the currently logged on user's username. Right now we are doing this via FlexContext.getUserPrincipal(), which gives access to this but we have a nagging concern that we don't like the idea that the implementation of these objects (the service layer) has a hard dependency on a BlazeDS class. But we're not sure how else to get access to this. The same applies to accessing the ServletContext and such. Any ideas?

• Best method for Flex to PHP communication?

  What is the best method for communication between Flex and PHP? In the past, we used AMFPHP with AS2, and it worked great for the most part (advantage of AMFPHP is that it also has a JSON mode that can let you seamlessly use the same remote PHP with either Javascript or Actionscript frontends). However, it seems like AMFPHP isn't realy maintained anymore. So what do people recommend to replace it? So far, what I've found is: Zend_AMF (looks too complex for us, we're not using the Zend framework otherwise) AMFPHP (there were some updated made to support Flex, and it seems fairly stable, but not sure on long-term support) XML (AS3 has nice XML handling routines, but it's more of a pain on the PHP side) WebORB (I have no experience with this) Roll-our-own using JSON or some other data-to-text serialization system (php's serialize(), XML, etc etc) Mostly I'm leaning towards AMFPHP, even because of the downsides, since that's what I'm used to. Any reason I should consider switching to something else?

Please help me.... where am I going wrong?
