  • Continous integration with .net and svn

    We're currently not applying the automated building and testing of continous integration in our project. We haven't bothered this far as we're only 2 developers working on it, but even with a team of 2 I still think it would be valuable to use continous integration and get a confirmation that our builds don't break or tests start failing. We're using .Net with C# and WPF. We have created Python-scripts for building the application - using MSbuild - and for running all tests. Our source is in SVN. What would be the best approach to apply continous integration with this setup? What tool should we get? It should be one which doesn't require alot of setup. Simple procedures to get started and little maintanance is a must.

  • VS 2010 web.config transformation

    Hi all, I need help on web.config transformation as I'm trying to do something not documented. My web.config has an empty connectionStrings element. In debug, I'd like the transformation tool to add a configSource="file.local" to the connectionStrings element. But in release, I'd like it to add a connectionString element. So, to summarize, I have <connectionStings> </connectionStings> And I need to transform it to <connectionStings configSource="file.local"> </connectionStings> And to: <connectionStings> <clear/> <add name="Abc" connectionSting="bla bla bla" provider="xxx" /> </connectionStings> Anybody has done this yet?     My regex skills are not very good and recently a new data element has thrown my parser into a loop Take the following string "+USER=Bob Smith-GROUP=Admin+FUNCTION=Read/FUNCTION=Write" Previously I had the following for my regex : [+\\-/] Which would turn the result into USER=Bob Smith GROUP=Admin FUNCTION=Read FUNCTION=Write FUNCTION=Read But now I have values with dashes in them which is causing bad output New string looks like "+USER=Bob Smith-GROUP=Admin+FUNCTION=Read/FUNCTION=Write/FUNCTION=Read-Write" Which gives me the following result , and breaks the key = value structure. USER=Bob Smith GROUP=Admin FUNCTION=Read FUNCTION=Write FUNCTION=Read Write Can someone help me formulate a valid regex for handling this or point me to some key / value examples. Basically I need to be able to handle + - / signs in order to get combinations.

  • Abusing the word "library"

    I see a lot of questions, both here on SO and elsewhere, about "maintaining common libraries in a VCS". That is, projects foo and bar both depend on libbaz, and the questioner is wondering how they should import the source for libbaz into the VCS for each project. My question is: WTF? If libbaz is a library, then foo doesn't need its source code at all. There are some libraries that are reasonably designed to be used in this manner (eg gnulib), but for the most part foo and bar ought to just link against the library. I guess my thinking is: if you cut-and-paste source for a library into your own source tree, then you obviously don't care about future updates to the library. If you care about updates, then just link against the library and trust the library maintainers to maintain a stable API. If you don't trust the API to remain stable, then you can't blindly update your own copy of the source anyway, so what is gained? To summarize the question: why would anyone want to maintain a copy of a library in the source code for a project rather than just linking against that library and requiring it as a dependency? If the only answer is "don't want the dependency", then why not just distribute a copy of the library along with your app, but keep them totally separate?

  • IntellIJ editor doesn't appear

    I updated my IntellIJ install to the latest version (11.1.4) and now the Editor window doesn't appear. Double-clicking on the file, jump-to-source, nothing happens. No error message, it just doesn't appear. If I double-click on an xml layout file the preview window works, but no Editor window. Have installed and reinstalled; went back to an earlier version and it doesn't work there either. I'm at a loss. Any ideas? Update: Editor works if I create a new project.     In my web application VS 2008 solution, I have the AjaxControlToolkit.dll in my bin directory and a whole set of language directories for it (ar, cs, de,es, fr, he, etc...) I don't remember how the language directories got in there. If I am using other languages via the ACT, do I need these directories? If not, then I don't? When I do a rebuild solution, the dll (AjaxControlToolkit.resources.dll) in these directories disappear. If I need them, what do I need to do to keep them from being deleted during a rebuild?

I want to change the button sizes to be bigger when I run the app on a tablet because they look ridiculous small there since it is the same size as for the phones. How can I do this?     Hi, first of, I don't know much about XSL. I am using a app called DITA to generate pdfs. One of the things it requires is an overwrite of an xsl file; to add custom styling. I am trying to add an external graphic using a relative path. It doesn't work, unless I supply the full path. Does not work: <fo:block text-align="center" width="100%"> <fo:external-graphic src="../../images/logo.png"/> </fo:block> Does work: <fo:block text-align="center" width="100%"> <fo:external-graphic src="/absolute/path/to/images/logo.png"/> </fo:block> I looked on the web, it said to use "file:image.png" and other website said to use "url(image.png)", but neither worked. What am I doing wrong?

    Hi, I'm trying to parse the HTML presented below with TouchXML but it keeps crashing when I try to extract certain attributes. I'm totally new to the parser world so I apologize for being a complete idiot. I need help to parse this HTML. What I'm trying to accomplish is to parse each attribute and value or what not and copy them to a string. I've been trying to find a good parser to parse HTML and I believe TouchXML is the best I've seen because of Tidy. Speaking of Tidy, How could I run this HTML through Tidy first then parse it? I'm not sure how to do this. Here is the code that I have so far that doesn't work due to it's not pulling everything I need from the HTML. Any help or advice would be much appreciated.   • XmlException - inserting attribute gives "unexpected token" exception

    Hi, I have an XmlDocument object in C# that I transform, using XslTransform, to html. In the stylesheet I insert an id attribute in a span tag, taking the id from an element in the XmlDocument. Here is the template for the element: <xsl:template match="word"> <span> <xsl:attribute name="id"><xsl:value-of select="@id"></xsl:value-of></xsl:attribute> <xsl:apply-templates/> </span> </xsl:template> But then I want to process the result document as an xhtml document (using the XmlDocument dom). So I'm taking a selected element in the html, creating a range out of it, and try to load the element using XmlLoad(): wordElem.LoadXml(range.htmlText); But this gives me the following exception: "'598' is an unexpected token. The expected token is '"' or '''. Line 1, position 10." And if I move the cursor over the range.htmlText, I see the tags for the element, and the "id" shows without quotes, which confuses me (i.e.SPAN id=598 instead of SPAN id="598"). To confuse the matter further, if I insert a blank space or something like that in the value of the id in the stylesheet, it works fine, i.e.: <span> <xsl:attribute name="id"><xsl:text> </xsl:text> <xsl:value-of select="@id"></xsl:value-of></xsl:attribute> <xsl:apply-templates/> </span> (Notice the whitespace in the xsl:text element). Now if I move the cursor over the range.htmlText, I see an id with quotes as usual in attributes (and as it shows if I open the html file in notepad or something). What is going on here? Why can't I insert an attribute this way and have a result that is acceptable as xhtml for XmlDocument to read? I feel I am missing something fundamental, but all this surprises me, since I do this sort of transformations using xsl:attribute to insert attributes all the time for other types of xsl transformations. Why doesn't XmlDocument accept this value? By the way, it doesn't matter if it is an id attribute. i have tried with the "class" attribute, "style" etc, and also using literal values such as "style" and setting the value to "color:red" and so on. The compiler always complains it is an unvalid token, and does not include quotes for the value unless there is a whitespace or something else in there (linebreaks etc.). I hope I have provided enough information. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Basically, what I want to accomplish is set an id in a span element in html, select a word in a webbrowser control with this document loaded, and get the id attribute out of the selected element. I've accomplished everything, and can actually do what I want, but only if I use regex e.g. to get the attribute value, and I want to be able to use XmlDocument instead to simply get the value out of the attribute directly. I'm sure I'm missing something simple, but if so please tell me. Regards, Anders
