• PHP memory_limit local value does not match php.ini value

  CentOS system. Summary: changed memory_limit in master and local php.ini and yet no change in the local value for a particular virtual host. Trying to improve performance, I set the memory_limit to 1024M in /etc/php.ini phpinfo() shows Master and Local values for other virtual hosts on the server as 1024M. Changing the value in /etc/php.ini changes all values, except one. One site is stuck with a local value of 256M. I thought I found the problem: there is a php.ini file (which I didn't know about) in that site's root, and it had memory_limit = 256M I changed it to 1024M. Problem solved? No. And now I don't know where to look. Obviously, I've restarted apache (/etc/init.d/httpd restart), and that usually does the trick. I also turned off APC cache, though I don't think it would cache ini files. And finally, I tried adding this to the virtual host in httpd.conf: php_value memory_limit 536870912 (yes, that would be 5 GB) And that had no effect whatsoever. What else could be the problem? • Take ownership in windows 7/8 does not work

  I have taken ownership of my external HDD and now I should be able to access every folder but I can't. There are numerous folders for which I don't have the ownership of. I tried taking ownership of those but after I close/reopen an explorer windows the ownership resets itself to what it was before. For example I have a folder which now has this S-1-5-21-95661877-3860777391-1413521220-1000 and a subfolder of this which has Unable to display current owner. If I take the ownership of the subfolder it shows me as the owner but I still can't access it; I get "You don't currently have permission ...".

• FreeNX Server w/ nxagent 3.5 not able to create shadow sessions

  I am running a FreeNX server on Ubuntu 11.10 and am unable to do session shadowing. I get the authorization prompt, but the shadow client crashes after. The NX server log in the user's .nx directory is as follows: Error: Aborting session with 'Server is already active for display 3000 If this server is no longer running, remove /tmp/.X3000-lock and start again'. Session: Aborting session at 'Mon Oct 1 14:26:44 2012'. Session: Session aborted at 'Mon Oct 1 14:26:44 2012'. This then deletes the lock file, which is the lock file for the initial Unix session and crashes out. Everything works for a normal session, and shadowing works up to the authorization prompt. I am using this software: Ubuntu 11.10 freenx-server 0.7.3.zgit.120322.977c28d-0~ppa11 nx-common 0.7.3.zgit.120322.977c28d-0~ppa11 nxagent 1:3.5.0-1-2-0ubuntu1ppa8 nxlibs 1:3.5.0-1-2-0ubuntu1ppa8 Any help is appreciated, thanks!

• Bash window title not restored after exit

  I have a problem with the window title in the Terminal window on OS X: Start Terminal. Window title is "bash" Type "ssh external" to connect to an external server. Window title is "user@external:~" Type "exit". I am now back at my local machine, but the window title still says "user@external:~". How do I make the window title return to "bash", which I assume would be correct since I have logged out of the external server and returned to my local machine? • Not able to Defrag my drive for shrink even using PerfectDisk on Windows 7

  I want to partition my c drive which has over 450gb capacity of which hardly 30gb is being used. I deleted the pagefile.sys and also disabled hibernate and cache memory. I then defragmented and consolidated free space using PerfectDisk 12 and also run a boot time defragmented. Now what remains is Metadata files that preventing me from shrinking the volume beyond half the size if disk. Please tell me what to do?????

• Apache not using the right SSL certificate [on hold]

  In my apache2 setup, I have one VirtualHost for my main site, and another for a static content site, like downloads, css, etc. I have ssl certificates for both, and the static content one is under a subdomain of the main site. I have configured the four virtualhosts altogether, as both sites need SSL ones as well. When I only had 1 SSL site, everything was OK, but now with the second, the first site uses the second site's certificate, even though it is told specifically to use its own in the VirtualHost section. I honestly have no idea why apache would do this. Any ideas? I have a feeling there may be some default/global setting or something that are set for some odd reason. I am using different IPs for the Virtual hosts.

• Remote Desktop not following display settings

  I have my RDP client set up to use highest settings for connecting to another PC on my LAN, which has display settings 1280x1024x32bit. RDP is specifically set to use 32bit depth, but when I connect it drops to 16bit. The PC I connect to is (amongst other things) used to do some 3D graphics. I don't expect great performance, just to check it works... but it doesn't over RDP, the 3D app doesn't think the hardware is the same. Does RDP's integration with Windows mean it is providing some virtualised rendering system? Should I use something less 'clever' like VNC, to literally screen-grab the contents of the screen without altering the settings?

• Adobe Reader not loading form content

  We have an FDL file which is used to offer an online application possibility. The FDL is filled out and sent to a mailbox. When I open the received file, Adobe Reader starts, loads the document in Internet Explorer (had to change my default browser because it doesn't work in chrome - the customer uses IE as default) and displays a warning that Adobe Reader has blocked the connection to the server where the initial document is saved: I can then click on "Trust this document once" (translated by me!) or "Add this host to trusted hosts" (also translated by me!). The second option doesn't work at all. The first option works but is a little bit annoying. I looked into Adobe Readers options (Edit - "Voreinstellungen" in german / the last option - Security (advanced)) and found the possibility to add hosts, files and directories or allow Adobe Reader to use the "Trusted Websites" list from Internetoptions. When I add the website either to Trusted Websites or the trusted list in Adobe Readers options, the warning doesn't pop up but the content in the prefilled (by the applicant) input boxes of the document doesn't show up on Windows 7 but it does show up on Windows XP. This Screenshot shows the settings window described in the last paragraph. The big input box at the bottom normally holds the trusted files/directories/hosts list. System Information: Windows 7 Enterprise x64 Adobe Reader X multiple IE versions (mine is latest but there's also IE 7 or 8) How do I get Adobe Reader to load the content of the form? This behaviour can be reproduced on a PC. When opening an fdf from a command line the form fields are blank even though there is data in the fdf and the pdf is located in a mnaully entered trsuted folder. Steps to reproduce: Clean install a Windows 7 PC (or use a virtual box) Map a network drive to a shared folder with a subfolder e.g. c:\test\docs becomes m:\docs Set security permissions to allow full control to everyone Add an fdf and a matching pdf file in the subfolder Manually add m:\docs to each of the trusted folders in the trust manager registry settings Ensure that Enhanced Security is on Run a command line to open the fdf file Expected result: pdf is opened in Adobe Reader with form fields filled out with data Actual results: pdf is opened with blank fields 'Yellow bar' appears asking to add document to trusted locations It appears that Adobe Reader XI is ignoring the privileged locations entries in the registry. Adding the document via the 'yellow bar' adds the individual document, with the same folder, to the privileged locations but means that the process has to be repeated for every document that needs to be opened from the folder.

• Automatically wake up notebooks not on the ethernet

  I am looking for an automated backup system and I like bacula. I have 3 Notebooks and a Desktop computer that need regular backup. Now I don't want to let them run all night just to do the backuping, so I was thinking I could use wake-on-lan to have bacula wake up the machines, then do the backups, and shut them down afterswards. While this may work with devices on the ethernet, it won't work with the Notebooks on the wifi. So is it possible to have the Notebooks schedules to automatically wake up from suspend or shutdown ? Or is it possible to interject a shutdown command if it is after a certain hour and call the bacula director to start the backup now? I'm new to controlling the linux system using scripts, so any hints on how and where to start are greatly appreciated. Thanks alot for your help, input and ideas.

• XDMCP works for Solaris, not for RHEL

  I have some old RHEL4 servers that until recently I was able to connect to remotely with Exceed (remote desktop using XDMCP) from my windowsXP PC. My PC is connected to our network by wired LAN. Recently it seems something has changed in our network. I can still connect to all the old Solaris and HPUX servers with Exceed, but for some reason I can no longer connect to the RHEL4 servers. I assume this is some kind of "security" feature turned on in our network. Does anyone know what this might be, and how I can tell IT to re-enable it? Update: A colleague has found that he can connect (very slowly) to these RHEL4 boxes with XDMCP if he is using our VPN from home, but when he is in the office using wired LAN he cannot connect to them. So it seems that there is some kind of firewall or ???, part of our wired LAN network, that is blocking XDMCP traffic from RHEL4.

  I installed Keepass 1.16 in my thumbdrive, which reportedly works with wine (as per Keepass homepage), but after entering the master password it just hangs and shows the "The program keepass has encountered a serious problem and needs to close" screen. • Aironet 1130AG and WPA (not WPA2)

  Is it possible to enable this WAP to do WPA1? I've played with all sort of settings, but no matter what I set it to, it does WPA2. Even if I choose TKIP as the cipher. I need WPA for compatibility reasons. I'm running 12.3(7)JA1 firmware. Any advice would be greatly appreciated! I'm trying to get this company away from WEP, but WPA2 offers too many problems with their visitors (XP SP2 clients need to install patch, etc). I'll probably add a radius while I'm at it, but would love to get WPA + AES going. Or at least WPA + TKIP.

• Microsoft Wireless Mouse 5000 Scroll Not Working

  I have a Microsoft Wireless Mouse 5000 with Intellipiont 7.1 installed on Windows 7 x64. The scroll has stopped working before, but a restart or two always seemed to resolve it. I tested the mouse on another computer and it worked. I also tested an Microsoft Arc mouse on this computer and the scroll worked. I have checked everything I could find on google and nothing helps. I have reinstalled intellipoint two times. Tried to change my mouse to another model in the intellipoint settings as suggested in many forums. Nothing. If anyone has any suggestions that would be great. Otherwise, I think my next step is to pitch this mouse and get a logitech at Best Buy tomorrow.

The suite has been working perfectly until last week ( no significant changes to system ) I have tried downloading the VC++ & uninstalled & reinstalled twice, even deleted the registry entry for office 2010 before reinstall but have had no success.   Hi I have a fresh install of WinXP. The main problem is that every time I start it up, I have to go into Administrative Tools and start the needed services, such as DCOM, RTP, DHCP, etc etc. The only services that start automatically are: plug and play remote procedure server windows audio workstation All of the rest have to be started manually, in spite of the fact that they're listed as "automatic". I downloaded the ZIP file from the vendors website, unzipped it to the Desktop and now I have an SH file. I tried running this file from the command line as root, but the permissions were denied. How can I install this program on Linux? I know it's possible because I have heard of it being done. I just don't have the experience with Linux I need to get it done.   The problem: the computers [Xbox 360 and a Kubuntu 12.04.1 laptop] can't access Internet through a recently-installed desktopless Debian 6 laptop (which is wirelessly connected to a WLAN station) but addresses are successfully given by dnsmasq. The Debian laptop was rebooted many times and between each attempt, with and without the script auto-executing via /etc/rc.local. While adding the iptables-restore command to that file I disabled the script.

• emails not sending from CentOS 5.6 VM on Win7 via PHP code

  I am experiencing an issue where my CentOS 5.6 (Final) VM running on Windows 7 has stopped sending emails from my PHP code. I'm confident this isn't a coding issue as I have the exact same code running in my office and emails send correctly from there, hence why I believe this to be a networking/configuration issue. In my /etc/hosts/ file on my VM I have the following: 127.0.0.1 localhost.localdomain localhost 192.168.0.9 crmpicco.co.uk m.crmpicco.co.uk dev53.localdomain When I run setup on my VM the DNS configuration is set to dev53.localdomain and my Primary DNS is 192.168.0.1.
