  • Using a Loader for a string of QML

    In Qt 5.3 I've been using the Loader QML element for loading screens. Now I'm trying to load a string of QML dynamically. Qt.createQmlObject enables me to do so, but I can't seem to get the Loader element to play along. Seems like Loader only takes a URL (QUrl) or component (QQmlComponent), but Qt.createQmlObject creates an object (QObject). I'm new to QML, but from my understanding components are reusable elements, similar to classes, and objects are the instances of those classes. I thus can't seem to wrap my head around why Loader wouldn't work with objects. How can I show a loading screen while (asynchronously) parsing and initializing a string of QML?     This is going to sound very odd, but I have a web.config like this: <connectionStrings> <remove name="LocalSqlServer"/> <add name="LocalSqlServer" connectionString="Data Source=BACKUPDB;..." providerName="System.Data.SqlClient"/> </connectionStrings> And a global.asax like this: void Session_Start(object sender, EventArgs e) { // Code that runs when a new session is started if (Application["con"] == null || Application["con"] == "") { Application["con"] = "Data Source=PRODUCTIONDB;..."; } } And EVERYWHERE in my code, I reference my ConnectionStrings like this: SqlConnection con = new SqlConnection(Convert.ToString(HttpContext.Current.Application["con"])); However, I see that everything I do inside this application goes to BACKUP db instead of PRODUCTIONDB. What is going on, how could this happen, and why? It doesn't make any sense to me, and it got me into a lot of trouble. We use LocalSqlServer string for FormsAuthentication.

    Hi. I am writing an android app. I want to pass some data across the intents/activities and I feel that a conversion to and from JSON is probably a more optimal way at this point. I am able to convert a java hashmap to a json string successfully using JSONObject support. However i need to convert back this JSON string to a java object or a hashmap. What is the best way to go about it. Is parcelable really a change worth doing; if I have simple 5 field object? What are the other ways to transfer data between intents. Cheers

    I am trying to output a JSON string using PHP and MySQL but the latitude and longitude is outputting as a string with quotes around the values. This causes an issue when I am trying to add the markers to a google map.     I am trying to use bing with PHP SOAP. It works fine for short strings. But for larger string I get following error: Fatal error: Uncaught SoapFault exception: [a:DeserializationFailed] The formatter threw an exception while trying to deserialize the message: Error in deserializing body of request message for operation 'Translate'. The maximum string content length quota (8192) has been exceeded while reading XML data. This quota may be increased by changing the MaxStringContentLength property on the XmlDictionaryReaderQuotas object used when creating the XML reader. Line 9, position 227. in ........ I am using XAMPP in windows 7. All the solution I found are for .net not the PHP. PHP has no web.config file as far as I concern. Any idea how can I solve it. Thank you Sadi

    Hello, I would like to be able to call a function based on its name provided by a string. Something like public void callByName(String funcName){ this.(funcName)(); } I have searched a bit into lambda funcions but they are not supported. I was thinking about going for Reflection, but I am a bit new to programming, so I am not so familiar with the subject. This whole question was brought up on my java OOP class, when I started GUI (Swing, swt) programming, and events. I found that using object.addActionCommand() is very ugly, because I would later need to make a Switch and catch the exact command I wanted. I would rather do something like object.attachFunction(btn1_click), so that it would call the btn1_click function when the event click was raised. Thank you Joao

    In this example com.test.Cat extends com.test.Animal and there is no field DB in CAT table of com.test.Cat explicitly defining its type (it wasn't me). When I query my animals from DB I get a collection of Animals. It is possible to sort them by class name: order by r.class but is there a way to use class name as a criteria? For example I would like to get all animals expect dogs. But no luck - even this does not work: where r.class = ?     I would like to achieve something whereby I have a spreadsheet such that the columns are: Column A - place name Column B - place name Column C - distance by road between places in columns A and B Column D - travel time by road between places in columns A and B I thought it might be possible using Google Docs' spreadsheet and its 'Google' functions, but I've not found any that might do the trick. In the end I could knock up an app to do it using the Google Maps API but would rather avoid it if I can.

    What are common approaches for translating certain words (or expressions) inside a given text, when the text must be reconstructed (with punctuations and everythin.) ? The translation comes from a lookup table, and covers words, collocations, and emoticons like L33t, CUL8R, :-), etc. Simple string search-and-replace is not enough since it can replace part of longer words (cat dog ? caterpillar dogerpillar). Assume the following input: s = "dogbert, started a dilbert dilbertion proces cat-bert :-)" after translation, i should receive something like: result = "anna, started a george dilbertion process cat-bert smiley" I can't simply tokenize, since i loose punctuations and word positions. Regular expressions, works for normal words, but don't catch special expressions like the smiley :-) but it does . re.sub(r'\bword\b','translation',s) ==> translation re.sub(r'\b:-\)\b','smiley',s) ==> :-) for now i'm using the above mentioned regex, and simple replace for the non-alphanumeric words, but it's far from being bulletproof. (p.s. i'm using python)

    Hi all, I'm writing a C code for a class. This class requires that our code compile and run on the school server, which is a sparc solaris machine. I'm running Linux x64. I have this line to parse (THIS IS NOT ACTUAL CODE BUT IS INPUT TO MY PROGRAM): while ( cond1 ){ I need to capture the "while" and the "cond1" into separate strings. I've been using strtok() to do this. In Linux, the following lines: char *cond = NULL; cond = (char *)malloc(sizeof(char)); memset(cond, 0, sizeof(char)); strcpy(cond, strtok(NULL, ": \t\(){")); //already got the "while" out of the line will correctly capture the string "cond1".Running this on the solaris machine, however, gives me the string "cone1". Note that in plenty of other cases within my program, strings are being copied correctly. (For instance, the "while") was captured correctly. Does anyone know what is going on here?

    I'm working on a flash web application (Actionscript 2.0) for my honours project but am having trouble embedding youtube videos. Basically the user selects symbols which queries the youtube api with certain tags depending on the symbols chosenand a random video is then picked from the first 30 videos.   • Using outer query result in a subquery in postgresql

    I have two tables points and contacts and I'm trying to get the average points.score per contact grouped on a monthly basis. Note that points and contacts aren't related, I just want the sum of points created in a month divided by the number of contacts that existed in that month. So, I need to sum points grouped by the created_at month, and I need to take the count of contacts FOR THAT MONTH ONLY. It's that last part that's tricking me up. I'm not sure how I can use a column from an outer query in the subquery. I tried something like this: SELECT SUM(score) AS points_sum, EXTRACT(month FROM created_at) AS month, date_trunc('MONTH', created_at) + INTERVAL '1 month' AS next_month, (SELECT COUNT(id) FROM contacts WHERE contacts.created_at <= next_month) as contact_count FROM points GROUP BY month, next_month ORDER BY month So, I'm extracting the actual month that my points are being summed, and at the same time, getting the beginning of the next_month so that I can say "Get me the count of contacts where their created at is < next_month" But it complains that column next_month doesn't exist This is understandable as the subquery knows nothing about the outer query. Qualifying with points.next_month doesn't work either. So can someone point me in the right direction of how to achieve this? Assume my website is called: www.example.com I have added a CNAME like this: subdomain.example.com -> This works fine. But now i wish to add another CNAME for the following to point to the same IP: www.subdomain.example.com This is proving to be not possible as it says i cant add "." in the name when i try to create the record? Any help?

    I'm currently working with the versant object database (using jvi), and have a case where I need to query the database based on an object id. What I'm trying to achieve is something along the lines of Employee employee = new Employee("Mr. Pickles"); session.commit(); FundVQLQuery q = new FundVQLQuery(session, "select * from Employee employee where employee = $1"); q.bind(employee); q.execute(); However, I'm finding out the hard way (I get an EVJ_NOT_A_VALID_KEY_TYPE error thrown at me) that this is infact not the way to do it. Anyone got any experience in working with VQL? Your help is much apreciated! A small clarification: The problem is I'm running some performance tests on the database using the pole position framework, and one of the tests in that framework requires me to fetch an object from the database using either an object reference or a low level object id. Thus, I'm not allowed to reference specific fields in the employee object, but must perform the query on the object in its entirety. So, it's not allowed for me to go "select * from Employee e where e.id = 4", I need it to use the entire object.     I've got a small bit of DRY going on in code I and others have written that I'd like to reduce but I'm failing to figure out how to get it done. This is legacy COM code but it's interfering with the readability. Such that if "V" were a IQueryFilter I'd get back a string of "IQueryFilter." I can't think of any reasonable solution without having to write a bunch of template specializations totally defeating the point in the first place. Is there a way to write ANDMAGICHAPPENS?
