• Gmail: Find emails that do not have a label

  Hello, I am trying to search for all of my mail that does not have a label. I label all of my mail then archive it but I think throughout the years I have forgotten some. Is there anyway I can search for all mail that does not have a label? Idea I had: Go to my All Mail and apply an arbitrary label to all of them, then go to each of my labels and remove my arbitrary one. However, is there a quick way to add a label to ALL mail for this idea to work? Also, I think this will apply it to even my sent mail instead of just mail that was sent to me? Any ideas/suggestions would be great. Thanks!

• Do or can robots cause considerable performance issues?

  So the question in the title is exactly what I am trying to find out. My case is: At work we are in a discussion with team members who seem to think bots will cause us problems relating to performance when running on our services website. Out setup: Lets say I have site www.mysite.co.uk this is a shop window to our online services which sit on www.mysiteonline.co.uk. When people search in google for mysite they see mysiteonline.co.uk as well as mysite.co.uk. Cases against stopping bots crawling: We don't store gb's of data publicly available on the web Most friendly bots, if they were to cause issues would have done so already In our instance the bots can't crawl the site because it requires username & password Stopping bots with robot .txt causes an issue with seo (ref.1) If it was a malicious bot, it would ignore robot.txt or meta tags anyway Ref 1. If we were to block mysiteonline.co.uk from having robots crawl this will affect seo rankings and make it inconvenient for users who actively search for mysite to find mysiteonline. Which we can prove is the case for a good portion of our users.

• Blogger still visible after moving to WP; Google Indexing issues after moving from Blogger to WP

  I recently migrated from Blogger to Wordpress and am having two major transition issues that are really hurting. Despite literally hours of searching and experimenting, I cannot resolve the following: ISSUE ONE: I fixed all of my old blogger links to 301 redirect successfully to my WP links (the 2 structures are different and I realized too late), but my old blogger blog is still sometimes visible! (the 2 designs are completely different) I had 31 hits on my blogger site just yesterday. I have updated my privacy settings to hide my blogger blog from search engines and not be visible on blogger. I also removed my custom domain from blogger already as well. HELP! Not sure how to stop this. ISSUE two: Despite submitting a new site map and reindexing my pages for my WP blog, I am not visible in search engines, although I was very visible previously. • How is my ISP DNS hijacking AFTER all these precautions?

  In IE9 when I search for anything my ISP hijacks google search and I get this result. To add complication to this I've already changed the default DNS servers (OpenDNS) months ago. This only happens in IE9; even after machine reboots and cache flushing. I even have my router (dd-wrt) intercepting all requests for DNS and I am still getting this result. I have all extensions disabled and there are no toolbars. This is IE9 from M$. This is not malware; it happens all machines with IE installed (even IE7/8).

  Possible Duplicate: Remove auto-complete field entries in Google Chrome Ok... so this is embarrassing. I typed in "boobs" on EncyclopediaDramatica's search because, well, it's a really funny page. But now I've got a problem... EVERY TIME I click a search feild in Chrome now, it shows "boobs" as the first suggestion in the drop down! This is not really socially acceptable as this laptop goes with me everywhere and Chrome is my primary browser. Is there a way I can isolate and remove just that one entry?

• ldap client cannot contact ldap server

However, I configured another Ubuntu 12.04 server as a ldap client for authentication but I cannot contact the server.   Hi a friend of mine is asking about the request which can for example be found here: http://www.geoidee.ch/geodata/geoserver-2.0.0/logs/2010_11_23.request.log His original message: On a couple of hundred web sites worldwide, one of the 50 most popular "File not found" error 404 is caused by the following request: "GET http://66.196.81.202/error/vote HTTP/1.0" It originates from a user agent that purports to be an iPhone. The two requests that hit my servers appeared to originate near Frankfort, Germany. The IP address in the request is part of Yahoo although I doubt that Yahoo had any intentional part. fe1.buzz.vip.re1.yahoo.com The HTTP request has a host header 66.196.81.202 and a X-Forwarded-For of 96.6.99.16 and my IP address I expected to be able to do a Google search and find some kind of security bulletin on it, but I found nothing. • Setting up a static IP address (public) in Ubuntu

  I have a business class internet connection and need to setup a static ip address for a machine. I did a search online and only find how to setup static local ip addresses (like 192.168..). I tried the same technique, and only setup the ip address and netmask, but after restart networking the computer could not connect to the outside world. This is what I did: 1) edit /etc/network/interfaces iface eth0 inet static address 173.10.xxx.xx netmask 255.255.255.252 2) edit /etc/resolv.conf search wp.comcast.net nameserver xx.xx.xx.xxx nameserver xx.xx.xx.xxx 3) restart network sudo /etc/init.d/networking restart Now the last step didn't report error, ifconfig shows the ip address was set, but this server cannot connect to outside world, ping google.com and reports "unknown host google.com". Any ideas?

  Previous information concerning my issue can be found here: Virus...? Tons of people talking. Not sure where else to ask. I heard the loud sounds and whatnot from one of the ads but nothing was harmed and other than having the life scared out of me nothing was immediately affected. Literally nothing has changed. • Why is the installation of certain programs always such a pain in Linux [closed]

  I am new to Linux and I am trying to set up a server. For this I sometimes to need to install special software, but the installation of this is always such a pain. For example I wanted to try the htscanner to see if it did the job for me. When i got to the page there is NO INSTALLATION guide. I had to search for the right one on google. Even on google its a pain to find the right method. Just try it - google search.After a long search and tried different things I finally found out that I had te install some more software before it will work. The website says that the version I used did not had any dependencies. Thats a lie. Release0.8.1: No dependencies registered. You do need certain things for it to work. After managing to set it up it still didn't work I can't figure out why because there is no official guide on the website. So I wanted to just uninstall it and find a better solution. Uninstalling. Uninstalling something in Linux is a real mystery how this actually works. The best answer I got is to manually look for the files and delete them. Whats up with that! There is never something said about uninstalling on the websites. Even on the website of CentOS itself it tels you how to install something like rpmforge packages (it's a miracle they tell you and not have to google it) but there is no mention of what to do when you want to uninstall. Why not? The forums you get on when trying to solve your problem are most of the time in plain text, and you have to scroll trough huge error logs before you see somethings that vaguely resembles your question if you are lucky. The Question My question is if there are any recommended websites / forums that explain the basic concepts of installing and uninstalling software on Linux. And explain other useful operations. And not Wikipedia or the first hits of Google, I have been there already. I am looking for some easy to read trough guides on these operations on Linux. I have been on a lot of websites that explain some Linux operation, but I bet its easier to get a degree in rocket science than to read trough the website and understand what they try to say.

  Contents farm, scrappers, aggregators real world examples? Could you plz clarify me: efreedom.com is a scraper site, not a content farm? Because it simply copies and pastes contents from stackoverflow. ehow.com and squidoo.com are contents farm? They don't copy and paste contents they just generate fresh new user generated content, but too much and too quickly. expert-exchange.com is NOT a content farm or a scraper site, right?! It's simply that many people (an me too) hates it (they also wrote to Matt Cutts) because it shows up hight in Google providing a useless question with no answer. There are also many sites that act as 'contents aggregators in the form of specialized directories' (let's call them CASD), I don't know how to else define them. Do they have a specific definition? Anyway are these type of CASD contents farms or scrapers sites or what else? Basically these CASD search for all sites of the same type i.e. “restaurants websites”, they copy and paste the contents found in “Restaurant A” and create in their aggregator site a new page called “Restaurant A”, then they do the same for all websites of the same type, thus creating a sort of directory of restaurants. Later on these CASD also sends an email to the owner of “Restaurant A” (usually the email is on the website) with a user and password to let him modify/update its own page on the CASD site. Later on these CASD might ask for money to the owner of “Restaurant A” because they bring him traffic, otherwise they remove its page on the aggregator. Someone could call these simply directories, but I think a directory is different because is something you need to add your site into by filling a form and not something that steals contents from your existing site without a specific acceptance from the site's owner. I also really wonder how Google will sort out all these mess sites packed of contents that show up more and more and everywhere in search results.

• UAC being turned off once a day on Windows 7

  I have strange problem on my HP laptop. This began to happen recently. Whenever I start my machine, Windows 7 Action Center displays the following warning: You need to restart your computer for UAC to be turned off. Actually, this does not happen if it happened once on a specific day. For example, when I start the machine in the morning, it shows up; but it never shows up in the subsequent restarts within that day. On the next day, the same thing happens again. I never disable UAC, but obviously some rootkit or virus causes this. As soon as I get this warning, I head for the UAC settings, and re-enable UAC to dismiss this warning. This is a bothersome situation as I can't fix it. First, I have run a full scan on the computer for any probable virus and malware/rootkit activity, but TrendMicro OfficeScan said that no viruses have been found. I went to an old Restore Point using Windows System Restore, but the problem was not solved. 8204 bytes As suggested in this very similar question, I have run full scans (+boot time scans) with RegRun and UnHackMe, but they also did not find anything. I have carefully examined all entries in the Event Viewer, but there's nothing wrong. Now I know that there is a hidden trojan (rootkit) on my machine which seems to disguise itself quite successfully. Note that I don't have the chance to remove the HDD, or reinstall the OS as this is a work machine subjected to certain IT policies on a company domain. Despite all my attempts, the problem still remains. I strictly need a to-the-point method or a pukka rootkit remover to remove whatever it is. I don't want to monkey with the system settings, i.e. disabling auto runs one by one, messing the registry, etc. EDIT 2: I have found an article which is closely related to my trouble: Malware can turn off UAC in Windows 7; “By design” says Microsoft. • DNS hijack - prevention tips

  Hi there, Over the weekend it looks like the DNS was hijacked on two of my domains. My set up is I have the sites registered on 1and1.co.uk, with dns nameservers pointing to Hostgator in the US where the sites are hosted. I also had cloudflare CDN running on the sites (via hostgator cpanel). My question is any ideas as to how this happened, and how I could either monitor it so I know if it occurs again, or strengthen the set up/service to minimise the risk. History: I received a ping from my site monitoring service that the sites were down. When I checked the sites were up so I assumed it was local to the monitoring service I received a ping last night the sites were up When I checked, one site was redirecting to download-manual.com (and checking that URL now, the home page is not the same as the one I saw, so they too may have been hijacked/hacked) The other site URL remained the same but had one of those standard site search pages which bounce you off to either phishing or paid for search sites I notified Hostgator who told me Cloudflare or 1and1 were the issue. I removed cloudflare, and contacted both them and hostgator, and am awaiting a response, but am not holding my breath. Is this common? I've never heard of this or come across this before. It's pretty scary that this can happen so easily. Appreciate any input. **Update: I've now spoken to support at 1and1, Hostgator, and Cloudflare, and each one claims it has nothing to do with them, and must be one of the others. Larry, curly, moe.

  If you're a Firefox user you know that if you have 10 tabs open and say you're in the tab #5. If you open a new tab which will become #11 in order and search something, after you finish and close this #11 tab Firefox will direct you the the last active tab you were in which is #5. Using Vimperator You won't get the similar effect. In the same scenario, while you're in tab #5 you can go t and search for something which will lead to opening a tab at #11. Now you press d and where you are now ? #10 and you need to ctrl+p all the way back to #5. So in this case I am looking for one of these solutions. to be able to open a tab straight after the current tab (which closing it will capital D will put me back to my active tab) a way to close a tab and being brought back to the last active tab that I worked on.   Each site can have a name. For example, site x. Each page also can have a name (or a title) that should appear in <title> tag in the header. However, many websites out there use the combination site name - page name to provide the value for <title> tag. I find it a little far from being semantic. On the other hand, if you only include page title in <title> tag, search engines won't find your site by its name. For example, if your site's name is Thought Results and you don't include it in page titles, then if you search for Thought Results, you won't find your site in SERPs. Thus I'm searching for a mechanism to both include site title (not page title) in every page, and also only include page title in <title> tag to get more semantic results. Is there any way to achieve this?

• Global vs. Local Monthly Searches in Adwords keyword tool

  I'm trying to learn how to use a keyword tool in Adwords. Here's what I entered: Country- Russia Language-Russian Desktop and laptop devices And the keyword was ???? ? ??????? (tours to Israel in Russian Cyrillic letters) . As a broad match type... Now... the results that I got were: Global monthly: 60,500 Local monthly: 40,500 If I got it right..."Global monthly" means in this context : worldwide average monthly searches for this search term in ANY language in any Google search site (google.ru, google.com.ua, google.com, google.fr etc.). It's all nice, BUT... Then I made an query for tours to Israel in English in the US...And I got: Global monthly: 60,500 Local monthly: 27,100 That doesn't make any sense to me though! How come the total sum (the global) is actually a smaller number than a combined sum of just TWO countries??? (27,100+40,500=67,60060,500) By "any language" they mean a translation of the term into ANY possible language???Or maybe by "language" Google means the language of searchers' operating system? or their browsers' language?
