• JBoss naming service port conflict

  I am having trouble getting JBoss started. I am running JBoss 5.1.0 on Mac OSX (yes, I know it is an old version, but that’s what the application is certified on for now). I am using Apple’s JVM 1.6.0_37. I have tried changing the port in conf/bindingservice.beans/META-INF/bindings-jboss-beans.xml: <bean class="org.jboss.services.binding.ServiceBindingMetadata"> <property name="serviceName">jboss:service=Naming</property> <property name="bindingName">RmiPort</property> <property name="port">5098</property> <property name="description">Socket Naming service uses to receive RMI requests from client proxies</property> </bean> Unfortunately, I then get the name errors with the new port number. I also installed a network monitoring tool on my box and it doesn't look like any ports are being opened when I start jboss, but it is possible, that the tool might be missing a port that is opened and then closed quickly. Any ideas what could be the problem or how to fix it?

• VPN Connection Causes Internal LAN Connection Loss with Server

  I've tried configuring basic PPTP VPN at my small business using a number of different tutorials. As far as I can tell, the actual VPN connection worked fine, but upon connecting a client, the Server 'disappears' from the internal LAN. The RRAS service must be stopped before the connection is restored. My Setup: The network is simply a DSL Gateway/Router to the outside functioning as NAT/Firewall/DHCP. The server is a Win Server 2008 machine at fixed IP 192.168.1.200. The server has 1 NIC, so I used the 'custom' option when configuring RRAS. The RRAS settings should be default except that I've disabled ports for connection types I'm not using and reduced PPTP ports to 10. I've also created an address pool and disabled DHCP packet forwarding. The server only functions as a File Share and now a VPN Server. Local LAN computers all have mapped network shares to the server authenticated based on Local User/Group setup on the server. The Problem: The moment a client connects through VPN, the server 'disappears' from the local network. All mapped drives disconnect and there is no response to a ping 192.168.1.200. Even if the client disconnects, the server does not re-appear at that address until the RRAS service is stopped. I've Tried: Using an Address Pool inside and outside the local subnet. Using DCHP Relay Checking Inbound/Outbound filters (none enabled) The fact that nothing I've tried has had any effect, and that I can connect and successfully obtain an IP tells me that it's something more fundamental I'm missing. My gut tells me that it's something to do with the second IP address added by the VPN client somehow taking over the interface or traffic from the local LAN accidently getting routed to the VPN client instead of handled at the server once RRAS has become 'active' when a client connects. Hopefully this may be obvious to someone with real IT experience. I've been doing this a while and almost never been stumped. I'm starting to think it might actually be something tricky since my setup is pretty basic yet refuses to work. I'll be happy to include more info if this doesn't ring any bells right away for anyone. Thanks

If I ask for server.compagny.com, it will give me address 10.0.0.1 If I ask for server.compagny.bigcompagny.com, it will give me the same address 10.0.0.1 I don't want to create twice the same files for my DNS Server : Too hard to maintain. • Deleted exchange account still being auto suggested

  I set up a new hire in our domain in exchange. When he arrived yesterday I discovered his name had been mispelled. I deleted his account and created a new account with proper spelling. The problem now is his old email address is being being suggested whenever anyone types in his first name. Users email the bad address get a bounce and create more help desk tickets. Is there a way to update exchange or purge the bad account?

• 403 error with codeignitor

  When I type in the standard web address for my site, I get a 403 error. However, when I type in a more exact address, say pointing to an index.php file, everything shows up fine. I'm using Anodyne Productions' Nova (SMS 3) which uses codeignitor. All accompanying software (PHP/MySQL) is compatible. I'm not a very technical person, so I'm hoping that this is an easy fix. • Mysterious visitor to hidden PHP page

  On my website, I have a "hidden" page that displays a list of the most recent visitors. There exist no links at all to this single PHP page, and, theoretically, only I know of its existence. I check it many times per day to see what new hits I have. However, about once a week, I get a hit from a 208.80.194.* address on this supposedly hidden page (it records hits to itself). The strange thing is this: this mysterious person/bot does not visit any other page on my site. Not the public PHP pages, but only this hidden page that prints the visitors. It's always a single hit, and the HTTP_REFERER is blank. The other data is always some variation of Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 7.0; Windows NT 5.1; YPC 3.2.0; FunWebProducts; .NET CLR 1.1.4322; SpamBlockerUtility 4.8.4; yplus 5.1.04b) ... but sometimes MSIE 6.0 instead of 7, and various other plug ins. The browser is different every time, as with the lowest-order bits of the address. And it's just that. One hit per week or so, to that one page. Absolutely no other pages are touched by this mysterious vistor. Doing a whois on that IP address showed it's from the new york area, and from the "Websense" ISP. The lowest order 8 bits of their address are always different, but always from 208.80.194.*/8. From most of the computers that I access my website, doing a tracerout to my server does not contain a router anywhere along the way with the IP 208.80.*. So that rules out any kind of HTTP sniffing, I might think. I have NO idea how, why this is happening. Does anyone have any clue, or have seen something as strange as this before? It seems completely benign, but unexplainable and a little creepy. Thanks in advance!

The only problem is if the user exists and has an email address it won't exit the server and send them mail using our relay. I need it to go to the relay even if it's an internal email address. • Virtual Subdomains

  I would like to manage subdomains exclusively through .htaccess. I am able to catch subdomains that I set up - for example, support.testsite.com - currently, I redirect that to testsite.com/support. What I would like to do is retain the subdomain, even after the redirect - so support.testsite.com seems to stay in the address bar for the user, even though it is actually located at testsite.com/support. Should I maintain another .htaccess file in /support that rewrites the address? Thanks!

• Windows using the DNS suffix search list on all lookups, even valid FQDNs. How to stop this?

  When doing DNS lookups (specifically using nslookup, for some reason most things are not effected) Windows XP Pro SP3 is using the DNS suffix search list for every single one. Even for fully qualified domain names. For example I lookup "www.microsoft.com" but windows actually asks for "www.microsoft.com.eondream.com" (eondream.com is my primary domain). Now I can fix the issue by removing the Primary DNS suffix, but it seems to me that the DNS suffix search list should be for short, invalid names (where dots=0 or something). I'm sure I have a misconfiguration somewhere in windows but I don't know where. I've changed every option I can think of or find. Below is the output of ipconfig /all and nslookup (with debug & db2 enabled). This is using a static IP & (internal) DNS server. I did go and ensure all drivers are there and now when I type ipconfig/all I get physical address, dhcp enabled, autoconfiguration enabled, autoconfiguration Ip address, subnet mask and then a line that says default gateway where default gateway is the only line with no numbers or anything next to it. My wireless connection works but how can I get this ethernet connection to work. This was working prior to this fresh reinstall.

  I have a fresh install of CentOS 4.8 running on an internal development server. I haven't done anything to it besides setting up sudoers and SSH. I can SSH into the server and from there resolve domains to IPs and ping internal servers, but for some reason I don't get any response from pinging external servers. The software firewall is disabled, and the problem is present with both static and DHCP-assigned network configurations. • localhost lookup fails, browser tries www.localhost.com instead

  I used to run web applications all the time on my laptop, no problems, I am using VWD 2008 Express, i have the latest framework, Windows Vista Home Basic...etc.. Now, when ever i try to run a website, or even chose to Show a Page in Browser from Within VWD, the browser (both IE and Firefox) keeps looking for www.localhost.com... I tried to copy the address of and paste it directly in the title bar, nothing, same problem i tried to get that address from the balloon notification (the one that pops up when you run any ASP.net project), still nothing happens... My colleague is facing the same problem, but for him, he can simply copy and paste the url in the address bar, but its not working with me....Heeeeeellllllllllllllllp
