    Using Grails 1.2.2, I'm working on binding a structured property (CC expiration Date) to a java.util.Date but only for specific Domain and Commands objects. I've found the StructuredPropertyEditor interface, but the only way that I've found to register it is to use the PropertyEditorRegistrar and register the editor for the java.util.Date class (much like this example) I don't want all of my dates to use my custom StructuredPropertyEditor. How do I apply the StructuredPropertyEditor selectively to specific targets like certain Command & Domain Classes?

  • WPF Storyboard works well, except for the first time it runs. Why?

    Hi, I'm doing a Surface Application. And there I have something like a bulletin board where little cards with news on it are pinned on. On click they shall fly out of the board and scale bigger. My storyboard works well, except for the first time it runs. It's not a smooth animation then but it scales to its final size immediately and it's the same with the orientation-property. Just the center-property seems to behave correctly.   • Variable sized packet structs with vectors

    Lately I've been diving into network programming, and I'm having some difficulty constructing a packet with a variable "data" property. Several prior questions have helped tremendously, but I'm still lacking some implementation details. I'm trying to avoid using variable sized arrays, and just use a vector. But I can't get it to be transmitted correctly, and I believe it's somewhere during serialization. Now for some code. Packet Header class Packet { public: void* Serialize(); bool Deserialize(void *message); unsigned int sender_id; unsigned int sequence_number; std::vector<char> data; }; Packet ImpL typedef struct { unsigned int sender_id; unsigned int sequence_number; std::vector<char> data; } Packet; void* Packet::Serialize(int size) { Packet* p = (Packet *) malloc(8 + 30); p->sender_id = htonl(this->sender_id); p->sequence_number = htonl(this->sequence_number); p->data.assign(size,'&'); //just for testing purposes } bool Packet::Deserialize(void *message) { Packet *s = (Packet*)message; this->sender_id = ntohl(s->sender_id); this->sequence_number = ntohl(s->sequence_number); this->data = s->data; } During execution, I simply create a packet, assign it's members, and send/receive accordingly. The above methods are only responsible for serialization. Unfortunately, the data never gets transferred. Couple of things to point out here. I'm guessing the malloc is wrong, but I'm not sure how else to compute it (i.e. what other value it would be). Other than that, I'm unsure of the proper way to use a vector in this fashion, and would love for someone to show me how (code examples please!) :) Edit: I've awarded the question to the most comprehensive answer regarding the implementation with a vector data property.     This is probably a simple matter, but when I create a new object, the ID property starts off as 0 rather than null. As I understand it, SQLite takes/needs a value of null for the PK column to do the AutoIncrement. So the short question is how to get the ID in the object to start life as null? Thanks cooter

  • Google Web Toolkit Asynchronous Call from a Service Implementation

    I'm writing a simple Google Web Toolkit service which acts as a proxy, which will basically exist to allow the client to make a POST to a different server. The client essentially uses this service to request an HTTP call. The service has only one asynchronous method call, called ajax(), which should just forward the server response. My code for implementing the call looks like this: class ProxyServiceImpl extends RemoteServiceServlet implements ProxyService { @Override public Response ajax(String data) { RequestBuilder rb = /*make a request builder*/ RequestCallback rc = new RequestCallback() { @Override public void onResponseReceived(Response response) { /* Forward this response back to the client as the return value of the ajax method... somehow... */ } }; rb.sendRequest(data, requestCallback); return /* The response above... except I can't */; } } You can see the basic form of my problem, of course. The ajax() method is used asynchronously, but GWT decides to be smart and hide that from the dumb old developer, so they can just write normal Java code without callbacks. GWT services basically just do magic instead of accepting a callback parameter. The trouble arises, then, because GWT is hiding the callback object from me. I'm trying to make my own asynchronous call from the service implementation, but I can't, because GWT services assume that you behave synchronously in service implementations. How can I work around this and make an asynchronous call from my service method implementation?

T4MVC always generate links with uppercased controller and action names, for example: /Snippets/Add instead of /snippets/add. Is it possible to generate them lowercase?

  • How can I model the data in a multi-language data editor in WPF with MVVM?

    Are there any good practices to follow when designing a model/ViewModel to represent data in an app that will view/edit that data in multiple languages? Our top-level class--let's call it Course--contains several collection properties, say Books and TopicsCovered, which each might have a collection property among its data. For example, the data needs to represent course1.Books.First().Title in different languages, and course1.TopicsCovered.First().Name in different languages. We want a app that can edit any of the data for one given course in any of the available languages--as well as edit non-language-specific data, perhaps the Author of a Book (i.e. course1.Books.First().Author). We are having trouble figuring out how best to set up the model to enable binding in the XAML view. For example, do we replace (in the single-language model) each String with a collection of LanguageSpecificString instances? So to get the author in the current language: course1.Books.First().Author.Where(Function(a) a.Language = CurrentLanguage).SingleOrDefault If we do that, we cannot easily bind to any value in one given language, only to the collection of language values such as in an ItemsControl. <TextBox Text={Binding Author.???} /> <!-- no way to bind to the current language author --> Do we replace the top-level Course class with a collection of language-specific Courses? Note: This is not a question about providing a multilingual UI, but rather about actually editing multi-language data in a flexible way.

    I've been trying to debug the following problem for several weeks now - this method is called from several places within the same datamodule, but this exception (from the subject line of this post) only occurs when integers for a certain purpose (pickup orders vs. orders that we ship through a carrier) are used - and don't ask me how the application can tell the difference between one integer's purpose and another! Furthermore, I cannot duplicate this issue on my machine - the error occurs on a warehouse machine but not my own development machine, even when working with the same production database. I've tried every combination of TParameter properties that I can think of - this is the millionth TParameter I've created for my millionth dataset, and I've never encountered this error. I've even created a second dataset from scratch and removed all references to the original dataset in case some property of the original dataset in the .dfm might be corrupted, but the same error occurs under the same circumstances. The commandtext for this dataset is a simple select ValueA from TableName where ValueB = @ParameterB I'm about ready to do something extreme, such as writing a web service to look these values up - it feels right now as though I could destroy my machine, rebuild it, rewrite this entire application from scratch, and the application would still know to throw an exception whenever I try to look up a secondary value from a primary value, but only for pickup orders, and only from the one machine in the warehouse, but I'm probably missing something simple. So, any help anyone could provide would be greatly appreciated.
