  • Help in XPath expression

    - by Ashish Gupta
    I have an XML document which contains nodes like following:- <a class="custom">test</a> <a class="xyz"></a> I was tryng to get the nodes for which class is NOT "Custom" and I wrote an expression like following:- XmlNodeList nodeList = document.SelectNodes("//*[self::A[@class!='custom'] or self::a[@class!='custom']]"); Now, I want to get IMG tags as well and I want to add the following experession as well to the above expression:- //*[self::IMG or self::img] ...so that I get all the IMG nodes as well and any tag other than having "custom" as value in the class attribute. Any help will be appreciated. EDIT :- I tried the following and this is an invalid syntax as this returns a boolean and not any nodelist:- XmlNodeList nodeList = document.SelectNodes("//*[self::A[@class!='custom'] or self::a[@class!='custom']] && [self::IMG or self::img]");

  • What's the best way to check that environment variables are set in Unix shellscript

    - by AndrewR
I've got a few Unix shell scripts where I need to check that certain environment variables are set before I start doing stuff, so I do this sort of thing: if [ -z "$STATE" ]; then echo "Need to set STATE" exit 1 fi if [ -z "$DEST" ]; then echo "Need to set DEST" exit 1 fi which is a lot of typing. Is there a more elegant idiom for checking that a set of environment variables is set? EDIT: I should mention that these variables have no meaningful default value - the script should error out if any are unset.

  • Symfony Jobeet Tutorial Day 3, databases.yml error

    - by Tony
Hi all, I'm new to Symfony and I'm going through the Jobeet tutorial v1.4 for Doctrine. I am currently stuck on Day 3. I've followed all the instructions on configuring the database and building models and modules; however, when I try to access "http://localhost:8080/frontend_dev.php" I receive the following error: 'Configuration "config/databases.yml" does not exist or is unreadable.' My config/databases.yml file looks like this: all: doctrine: class: sfDoctrineDatabase param: dsn: 'mysql:host=localhost;dbname=jobeet' username: root password: mysecret Creating the tables and loading the fixtures seem to work fine after checking the database with phpmyadmin. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you!

  • HTML text-area editor for code that traps TAB key

    - by Cristi Cotovan
Hello, I have looked for months now, for JavaScript-based HTML editor I can embed onto my web pages to replace a TEXTAREA, but to enable me to edit CODE in a friendly, closer to a real editor, way. All editors I've tried (RadEditor from Telerik, FCKEditor, TinyMCE, etc etc), do not trap the TAB key, very useful when editing HTML code onto a page, to help format the code properly. I'm not talking about syntax highlighting, as that would be an awesome plus. But I am mainly wondering if there is such an editor. I'd appreciate being pointed in the right direction.

  • Fortran intent(inout) v's no intent

    - by Andrew Walker
Good practice dictates that subroutine arguments in Fortran should each have a specified intent (i.e. intent(in), intent(out) or intent(inout) as described this question): subroutine bar (a, b) real, intent(in) :: a real, intent(inout) :: b b = b + a ... However, not specifying an intent is valid Fortran: subroutine bar (a, b) real, intent(in) :: a real :: b b = b + a ... Are there any real differences beyond compile time checking for an argument specified as intent(inout) and an argument without a specified intent? Is there anything I should worry about if I'm retrofitting intents to older, intent free, code?

  • Dataset field DBNull -> int?

    - by BobClegg
SQLServer int field. Value sometimes null. DataAdapter fills dataset OK and can display data in DatagridView OK. When trying to retrieve the data programmatically from the dataset the Dataset field retrieval code throws a StronglyTypedException error. [global::System.Diagnostics.DebuggerNonUserCodeAttribute()] public int curr_reading { get { try { return ((int)(this[this.tableHistory.curr_readingColumn])); } catch (global::System.InvalidCastException e) { throw new global::System.Data.StrongTypingException("The value for column \'curr_reading\' in table \'History\' is DBNull.", e); } Got past this by checking for DBNull in the get accessor and returning null but... When the dataset structure is modified (Still developing) my changes (unsurprisingly) are gone. What is the best way to handle this situation? It seems I am stuck with dealing with it at the dataset level. Is there some sort of attribute that can tell the auto code generator to leave the changes in place?

  • Differences between Perl and PHP

    - by lok
I'm planning to lern Perl 5 and as I have only used PHP until now, I wanted to know a bit about how the languages differ from each other. As PHP started out as a set of "Perl hacks" it has obviously cloned some of Perls features. What are the main differences in the syntax? Is it true that with Perl you have more options and ways to express something? Why is Perl not used for dynamic websites very often anymore? What made PHP gain more popularity than it?

  • How do I flip a column in mysql that has data structured: 'last name, first name'?

    - by ggg
    I want to create a new column in a MYSQL table that has Fn Ln instead of Ln, Fn. Most of my data is printed Fn Ln. Another idea is to incorporate a string function each time there is an output (php based) but that seems to waste resources. Finally, I couldn't find the syntax (loop or foreach) for my php function anyway. Here is the working php function that I got from a previous post: $name = "Lastname, Firstname"; $names = explode(", ", $name); $name = $names[1] . " " . $names[0];

  • PHP - Opening uploaded DOCX files with the correct MIME TYPE

    - by user270797
I have users uploading DOCX files which I make available for download. The issues we have been experiencing is the unknown mime types of DOCX files which causes IE to open these docs as Zip files. It is running on a Windows/IIS server. Because this is a shared host, I cannot change any server settings. I was thinking that I could just write some code that would handle DOCX files, perhaps custom output: if (extension=docx) { header("Content-Disposition: attachment; etc) header('Content-Type: application/application/vnd.openxmlformats-officedocument.wordprocessingml.document'); Output the file contents etc } Would this be a viable solution?? If so, can someone help fill in the gaps? (PS I know the above syntax is not correct, just a quick example)

  • Adding LDAP OU using Net::LDAP

    - by lupindeterd
What is the correct syntax of adding an OU using Net::LDAP, I tried the following: #!/usr/bin/perl -w use 5.10.1; use strict; use Net::LDAP; use Data::Dumper; my $ldap = Net::LDAP->new("192.168.183.2") or die "$@"; my $mesg = $ldap->bind( "cn=admin,dc=lab,dc=net", password => 'xxx' ); $mesg = $ldap->add( "ou=Users,dc=lab,dc=net", attrs => [ 'ou' => 'dc=Users', 'objectClass' => [ 'top', 'organizationalUnit' ] ] ); say $mesg->error; say $mesg->code; And got the following error: value of naming attribute 'ou' is not present in entry 64 However using the ldapmodify command line, and using this following ldif, works: dn: ou=Users,dc=lab,dc=net changetype: add objectclass: top objectclass: organizationalUnit ou: Users

  • Csharp component which generates fragmens with highlights for diffs for 2 strings

    - by MicMit
I need C# equivalent ( ideally open source ) which is similar to Delphi DLL. I am currently using the wrapper ( C# syntax is provided , but it is a call from a different language ) zdiff( string ref str1, string ref str2, int range , int trim ) it calls inside str1 = GetHiDiff(@str1,1,trim) str2 = GetHiDiff(@str1,2,trim) where function GetHiDiff(s:pchar; sIndex:integer; wtrim:integer): pchar; stdcall; What it does it returns a left fragment html of str1 and a right html fragment of str2 with diffs highlighted as strings are passed by reference. Range parameter determines the size of html fragment. Not sure what trim 0 does.

  • IntelliSense based snippet handling with Visual Studio 2010 SDK MEF Based text editor

    - by Nicolai Ustinov
Using the new Visual Studio 2010 SDK developing against the MEF based editor structure there's a question: How can I use the MEF editor interfaces to handle snippet behavior in IntelliSense? The ICompletionSession itself is not a problem (e.g. get the available snippets) rather filling the snippet, handling the subsequently expected actions like tab, enter behavior, text replacement, etc. Is there any way to do that without a language service? Checking the built-in behavior in Visual Studio base editor implementation they built the MEF interfaces on top of a set of language service based objects.

  • Mysql Real Escape String PHP Function Adding "\" to My Field Entry

    - by Jascha
Hello, I am submitting a form to my mySql database using PHP. I am sending the form data through the mysql_real_escape_string($content); function. When the entry shows up in my database (checking in myPhpAdmin) all of my double quotes and single quotes are escaped. I'm fairly certain this is a PHP configuration issue? so: $content = 'Hi, my name is Jascha and my "favorite" thing to do is sleep'; mysql_real_escape_string($content); $query = 'INSERT INTO DB...' comes up in my database as: Hi, my name is Jascha and my \"favorite" thing to do is sleep Who do I tell what to do? (I cannot access the php.ini). -J

  • Getting Unexpected '<' in simple less than greater than comparison

    - by Elizabeth Buckwalter
I feel very very very silly posting this, but I can't find the answer. I've searched google and here. // originally values in a multi dimensional array, but used simple values // to rule out errors. $somenumber = 1; $anotherone=5; if ($somenumber < $res->shares < $anotherone ) { blah } Get the error: Parse error: syntax error, unexpected '<' Seems pretty simple and straight forward. Is there some weird thing that you can't compare multiple values? Do I have to explicitly type? It works in Perl. Which of course means that it has to work like this in everything else. ;)

  • Regex Problem in PHP

    - by Chris
I'm attempting to utilize the following Regex pattern: $regex = '/Name: [a-zA-Z ]*] [0-9]/'; When testing it in Rubular, it works fine, but when using PHP the expression never returns true, even when it should. Incidentally, if I remove the "[0-9]" part, it works fine. Is there some difference in PHP's regex syntax that I'm overlooking? Edit: I'm looking for the characters "Name:" then a name containing any number of letters or spaces, then a "]", then a space, then a single number. So "Name: Chris] 5" would return true and "Name: Chris] [lorem ipsum]" should return false. I also tried escaping the second bracket "\[" but this did not fix the problem.

  • "The left hand side of an assignment must be a variable" due to extra parentheses

    - by polygenelubricants
I know why the following code doesn't compile: public class Main { public static void main(String args[]) { main((null)); // this is fine! (main(null)); // this is NOT! } } What I'm wondering is why my compiler (javac 1.6.0_17, Windows version) is complaining "The left hand side of an assignment must be a variable". I'd expect something like "Don't put parentheses around a method invokation, dummy!", instead. So why is the compiler making a totally unhelpful complaint about something that is blatantly irrelevant? Is this the result of an ambiguity in the grammar? A bug in the compiler? If it's the former, could you design a language such that a compiler would never be so off-base about a syntax error like this?

  • Haskell typeclass

    - by Geoff
I have a Haskell typeclass question. I can't munge the syntax to get this (seemingly reasonable) program to compile under GHC. import Control.Concurrent.MVar blah1 :: [a] -> IO ([a]) blah1 = return blah2 :: [a] -> IO (MVar [a]) blah2 = newMVar class Blah b where blah :: [a] -> IO (b a) instance Blah [] where blah = blah1 -- BOOM instance Blah (MVar []) where blah = blah2 main :: IO () main = do putStrLn "Ok" I get the following error message, which kind of makes sense, but I don't know how to fix it: `[]' is not applied to enough type arguments Expected kind `*', but `[]' has kind `* -> *' In the type `MVar []' In the instance declaration for `Blah (MVar [])'

  • Using git branches for variations of a project

    - by Trevor Hartman
I'm using git's branching feature to manage 5 variations of a small website. There are 5 versions that will all be live in different subdirectories on production. My approach to checking out the various branches to their respective folders was to: mkdir foo && cd foo git init git remote add origin git@...:project.git git fetch origin foo:foo Where "foo" is a given branch name. This was fine, except for that it pulled my entire repo (designs, as3 source, etc...) into those branch folders instead of just the public www folder, which is the only thing I really want on production. Is there a cleaner way to handle this? Git can't clone subdirectories right?

  • MySQL Stored Procedure: Boolean Logic in IF THEN

    - by xncroft
I'm looking for the proper syntax (if this is possible in MySQL stored procedures) for using logical operators in an IF THEN statement. Here's something along the lines of what I would like to do, but I'm not certain if I should type "OR" or "||" in the IF ... THEN clause: DELIMITER $$ CREATE PROCEDURE `MyStoredProc` (_id INT) BEGIN DECLARE testVal1 INT DEFAULT 0; DECLARE testVal2 INT DEFAULT 0; SELECT value1, value2 INTO testVal1, testVal2 FROM ValueTable WHERE id = _id; IF testVal1 > 0 OR testVal2 > 0 THEN UPDATE ValueTable SET value1 = (value1+1) WHERE id=_id; END IF; END$$

  • Mongomapper query collection problem

    - by kylemac
When I define the User has_many meetings, it automatically creates a "user_id" key/value pair to relate to the User collections. Except I can't run any mongo_mapper finds using this value, without it returning nil or []. Meeting.first(:user_id = "1234") Meeting.all(:user_id = "1234") Meeting.find(:user_id = "1234") All return nil. Is there another syntax? Basically I can't run a query on the automatically generated associative ObjectId. # Methods class User include MongoMapper::Document key :user_name, String, :required = true key :password, String many :meetings end class Meeting include MongoMapper::Document key :name, String, :required = true key :count, Integer, :default = 1 end # Sinatra get '/add' do user = User.new user.meetings "foobar") #should read: Meeting.new(:name = "foobar") user.save end get '/find' do test = Meeting.first(:user_id = "4b4f9d6d348f82370b000001") #this is the _id of the newly create user p test # WTF! returns [] end

  • More pythonic way to iterate

    - by fmark
I am using a module that is part of a commercial software API. The good news is there is a python module - the bad news is that its pretty unpythonic. To iterate over rows, the follwoing syntax is used: cursor = gp.getcursor(table) row = cursor.Next() while row: #do something with row row = cursor.next() What is the most pythonic way to deal with this situation? I have considered creating a first class function/generator and wrapping calls to a for loop in it: def cursor_iterator(cursor): row = cursor.Next() while row: yield row row = cursor.next() [...] cursor = gp.getcursor(table) for row in cursor_iterator(cursor): # do something with row This is an improvement, but feels a little clumsy. Is there a more pythonic approach? Should I create a wrapper class around the table type?

  • How to localize HeaderText in GridView or validation controls?

    - by Janusz
I cannot figure out why HeaderText or validation controls always fallback to default culture - even though rest of the controls are in correct culture. I have a gridView with HeaderText specified in this way <asp:BoundField DataField="totalSales" HeaderText="<%$ Resources:Strings,TotalSales %>" /> In the same way I have validation controls and they can't be localized. Only this syntax does work <%= Resources.Strings.Payments %> I set different culture in Master page using this statement in Page_Init Me.Page.Culture = "pl-PL" Me.Page.UICulture = "pl-PL" Can anyone spot what's wrong? I have been Googling it for last few days without success. Thanks!

  • File version maintainence via PHP FTP?

    - by Michael
Currently I'm working on a "plugin" that will be installed on many different sites and I was wondering on the best way for me to maintain the file version of this "plugin". Here's what I was thinking. Have a "master copy" of the plugin on a server, then connect via FTP to the target sites and upload the copy to their site overwriting whatever files they may have. I was wondering the best way to go about this. The "plugin" will have many different folders and files so transferring one file at a time will be too tedious. Is there a way to copy an entire folder over at a time? Or even better, is there a way to recurse through the folders and checking for file difference before uploading the new file? This is to make sure we are uploading a new file and not just the same one.

  • TeamCity for continuous integration with Visual Studio 2010 solutions/projects

    - by JeffryEngberg
I am running TeamCity build 5.1.1 on a virtual machine that also hosts our SVN environment. A team I support has recently made the move from Visual Studio 2008/Silverlight 3.0 to Visual Studio 2010/Silverlight 4.0 and when investigating how to do continuous integration with Visual Studio 2010 solutions/projects, it is not as cut and dried as it appeared to be in Visual Studio 2008. Previously I was using Web Deployment Projects and targeting different Release Configurations in TeamCity, which would use the Web Deployment Project to package/deploy the code to our various environments. However when checking out the new Publish ability in Visual Studio 2010 I cannot find a way to specify which location to deploy to. Does everything need to be done in MSBuild now (in the solution file or maybe the Web project file?). If anyone has any examples of how they've done Continuous Integration using TeamCity and Visual Studio 2010, it would be greatly appreciated as I am coming up blank at the moment.

  • Teradata equivalent of persisted computed column (in SQL Server)

    - by Cade Roux
We have a few tables with persisted computed columns in SQL Server. Is there an equivalent of this in Teradata? And, if so, what is the syntax and are there any limitations? The particular computed columns I am looking at conform some account numbers by removing leading zeros - an index is also created on this conformed account number: ACCT_NUM_std AS ISNULL(CONVERT(varchar(39), SUBSTRING(LTRIM(RTRIM([ACCT_NUM])), PATINDEX('%[^0]%', LTRIM(RTRIM([ACCT_NUM])) + '.' ), LEN(LTRIM(RTRIM([ACCT_NUM]))) ) ), '' ) PERSISTED With the Teradata TRIM function, the trimming part would be a little simpler: ACCT_NUM_std AS COALESCE(CAST(TRIM(LEADING '0' FROM TRIM(BOTH FROM ACCT_NUM))) AS varchar(39)), '' ) I guess I could just make this a normal column and put the code to standardize the account numbers in all the processes which insert into the table. We did this to put the standardization code in one place.
