  What's the best way to prevent a dictionary attack? I've thought up several implementations but they all seem to have some flaw in them: Lock out a user after X failed login attempts. Problem: easy to turn into a denial of service attack, locking out many users in a short amount of time. Incrementally increase response time per failed login attempt on a username. Problem: dictionary attacks might use the same password but different usernames. Incrementally increase response time per failed login attempt from an IP address. Problem: easy to get around by spoofing IP address. Incrementally increase response time per failed login attempt within a session. Problem: easy to get around by creating a dictionary attack that fires up a new session on each attempt.

  We are really in a mess. The following is what happened. We have taken backup of WSS_Content database. From Central Administration Page we remove the database. Added a new database for the website. • Get rid of all user data of Android application after bigger update

  Hi, I completely revamped an app. Tested it for a while on my device and emulator. The app worked fine. However when I updated the app through the Android market, my users experienced crashes. Since there is no way to properly debug this procedure I asume the crash is caused by old data which is not being removed from the device (probably from the onsavedstate bundle?!).   I am parsing html file with the help of the html agility pack to extract the table data from the html file. But there is some html files where there is no ending tags which is optional or there is no starting tag which is also optional.So html agility pack does not parse that html page properly.If I open the content of that html file in the notepad++ then with the option TestFX-->TestFX HTML Tidy-->TiDy clean document and make the content tidy like this. And now this file If I parse with the html agility pack then it parse it properly. Making html page tidy with notepad++ is best option. So I don't know but user can not do this like first he/she makes the page tidy with notepad++ and then go ahead.Then what should I do ?

  Basically I have written a game plugin that will allow server admins to update their administration tools from within game rather than having to go download it and install it. The releases are updated regularly, and the beta versions are nightly builds. I am trying to find a way to grab the links from the website, but I cannot think of anyway to do this off of the top of my head. • RAD - Websphere Application server won't start

  I am having issues with RAD7. My server will not start for me today. I am working from home and connected to the VPN. Everything works except my server in RAD. It worked fine yesterday in work and had previously worked when I was at home but that was a few weeks ago. Are there any settings that I should look out for? I have disabled my proxy settings in RAD and turned off everything in my firewall. I can ping all the DBs that the server is connecting to. I have even removed all the projects from the server and it will still not start. It keeps trying and then times out after 300s. Any suggestions?

• App.config path not correctly interpreted by ASP.NET Application

  Hello everyone ! I'm working on a very old project (2000) in VB6 which was "modernized" and upgraded to VB.NET 3.5. I've centralized every old INI configuration file into one MainApp.config, which is referenced by the app.config of every component. There's an VB ASP.NET website in the solution, which uses DLL components, which are looking into app.config for parameters like, say, error log directory, etc. I've deployed the site on my dev. server (Windows 2008 Server w/ IIS 7.0) into the D:\WebSite\ directory. Problem: When running the site, an error occurs. A DLL is looking into app.config for the parameter RepertoireErreur which has the value .\Erreurs\ Instead of returning D:\WebSite\Erreurs\ it returns c:\windows\system32\inetsrv\.\Erreurs\ which doesn't contain the Erreurs directory. Boom. Error. Does anyone have ever encountered the same problem ? Is there a solution ? Thanks,

The other thing is, the is a red arrow icon displayed over My Computer (Component Servers - Computers - My Computer). I have searched everywhere for this, but I couldnt find a solution that resolves my specific problem. Im using VISTA and this error started after I reinstalled my SQL server 2008. • Does anyone use AODL in a real application?

  We are currently using the Excel interop API in .NET to generate simple spreadsheet documents from a template. So we load the template first, insert some rows, fill in some data (dates, text, and numbers), and make Excel visible so that the user can print or save the document we just generated. But I'd like to get rid of the Excel dependency, and switch to the ODF format as well. Googling suggests AODL (C# libs for generating ODF docs) as the most obvious solution. But their last release is 1.3.0.0 BETA, and seems to be 3 years old. So I'm not sure if it's a good idea to depend on a potentially dead project... In that case, I'd need to find another solution. Any ideas? Or maybe someone could assure me that AODL is still alive?

For example, if I found out that a soap has a methods called "get_user_information" (using wsdlDriver) is there a way to know if this method requires some params and what type of params does it require (int, string, complex type, ecc..)? • How to update a library in my application

  I have used a library like ZendFramework in my project which I have put in Subversion. Now I want to update the version that I have put in Subversion. What's the best way to do this? Copying, taking a svn diff and patching the working copy or just copying the new files over the old files? I have tried svn diff with svn diff but this doesn't output anything. Normal diff outputs some stuff but it also considers the .svn directories.
